A really big thank you for this, both from me and the developers (I imagine). This is the type of thing I wouldn't have noticed otherwise and I sincerely look forward to trying some of these.
Neocolonialism reminds me a bit of a game like Defcon. Very dark games that are played on a grand scale more focused on numbers than what is actually happening to the world at hand.
Yesterday I saw there's discount on Revolver360, and recalling George's suggestion, I went in. And oh boy. I have never been a fan for bullet-hell games (I cant even beat the easy level in Touhou, and never enjoy playing it), but when Revolver's music kicks in I'm entranced. And I'm frustrated when I die not because I would have to retry, but that it broke my trance. Thank you for the suggestion.
Neon XZS is EXACTLY what I've wanted for way too long and haven't been able to find. Thank you for getting word out, because I haven't heard anything about it.
It kind of reminds me of Descent. No idea of the gameplay is anything looked it but that first person view is for sure, although I haven't played a Descent game in well over 15 years.
I'd really like more of this series. There needs to be more people recommended good games that aren't well known. Then shit like Goat Simulator won't be so much in the limelight.
8:03 "Or at least the façade of competition, since after all: there can only be one winner." Love your reviews and analysis, but dude... one winner is a textbook definition of competition, even if the tooth bites from under a veneer.
I'm really glad this video exists. I've never learned about "REVOLVER360 RE:ACTOR" without this very UA-cam channel (and of course I bought it already). I also love how Elliot Quest actually *did* find an audience on the WiiU.
Thanks for doing this George. It is great to get to see obscure games get some attention. It reminds me somewhat of what Steamshots tried to do. Discoverability of smaller games for consumers is such a difficult thing, there's so many games on steam alone that it would be a full time job covering all the new releases and there just isn't enough money to be made doing that. Hence why Steamshots folded.
Thanks bunnyhop! Quite an eye opener. Funny how the hidden gems that most youtubers and journalists get on a daily basis get overlooked by all the crap they get. Very interesting. I'd like to see more, if you decided to continue the series, and if there is an adequate supply of "good" or at least Interesting games in your inbox.
Hello, it's good to see someone stand up for smaller games and not just laugh at them and to actuly try to give feed back that isn't stock standard "this is a good game" but gives something more
What a fantastic video! We need more attention to interesting smaller scale games like this; we have more than enough coverage of the AAA blockbuster games out there. More of this!
I remember seeing Elliott's Quest at the Seattle Indies Expo right next to Tumblestone, Memories of a Broken Dimension, and Crawl. I want to say they had it running on a Wii U. I had no idea it was out on PC. I'll have to pick it up.
'tis a noble goal to get these games some publicity, George. Alas , I am afraid there are just too many AAA and Indie games already in my catalogue which are begging for my time.
Elliot went straight to my wishlist. I love me a Metroidvania that does the recontextualizing on upgrade well. As far as being derivative, Zelda 2 was so primitive that adding modernized mechanics already makes for a huge improvement. I'd like to see Nintendo try its hand at a "Zero Mission" take on Z2 (but without the stealth section please!). Might be worth mentioning that NeonXSZ is still in Early Access? Maybe it'll end up with more motivation as it progresses.
Excellent video! A lot of games to keep in mind for when I have some time and cash to spare. Also I appreciate that you apparently improved your capturing method. I didn't notice any excessive artifacting in this one, like in your previous videos.
"RE: Nosgoth VIP Beta Access" George, if this means we get to hear you talk about Legacy of Kain (and / or do an impression of Tony Jay) at some point I think we can die happy. (I'm sorry, I'll watch the rest of the video now)
I'd love that if only for the fact that i've never seen ANYONE mention these games, and it's a damn shame because it's easily one of my favorite series of all time. And i'll never forgive Square Enix for Nosgoth. Never.
theRMshow And he's already established that he is the guy that makes good videos of those good games that no one ever talks about. So I guess we can't count on it! Also, what about Nosgoth? I remember watching some videos and it seemed like a nice game, but other than that I know nothing.
Rei Bob Just kind of imagine one of your favorite game series which was heavily story based ending without full closure, had a game in the series that looked like it was going to be amazing and provide that closure only to get cancelled, and then you hear that they're using the license again only for it to be a bastardized MOBA game with no story and what little of it there is going completely against the canon of the game. And that's why i hate Nosgoth. It's like a slap in the face to anyone who were fans of the games.
theRMshow I had no idea it was the same license. When I saw Polites comment I just thought it was by the same company. That is really disapointing. Legacy of Kain needs to comeback. But just a thing, the game isn't a Moba. Yes it takes influence I think, but it's more of a 3rd person shooter. But you know what? Maybe this is the right way to bring it back. First gather some new fans of the world with a new and difrent game, then make a comeback to the actual saga and bring more players to it. Some of those old games we love are not that well known right now.
I think you should make this a series, nobody seem to care about underrated games these days. It would be really fun to find good games that nobody knew about. We could than make a cult around these games and tell no one else about them. OK, you should make your next video private and than send it to us via private emails. Or better yet, we should only talk about these games in person, where do you live anyways??
I never understood all the hate that Adventures of Link gets. Its always been one of favorite games and Im always on the look out for more games that are similar. Thanks George for another great video.
Great video. I had already heard about Revolver 360 from one of your previous videos, but it's still good to hear about it again! Not that interested in NeonXSZ, but Elliot Quest sounds pretty good and Neocolonialism sounds really interesting. I'll have to check those out.
Really liked this. If you were taking cues from TB's Fifteen Minutes of Game (or whatever he's calling that series now), then you've done a much better job than he has.
I really like these videos, they show games you wouldn't normally find. Same with the Japanese Indie Games video. It would be really cool if you made this into a series or something like that
I'm going to go through and combine all the games mentioned into one big game idea for each video. Galaxy Trip: (Or Revolver Quest XSZC A Shoot 'em up where you travel through space, uy items with your limited money that you get by shooting other ships and try to make the safe return home. The items can be anything from needed shi parts to defensive/offensive items to use in a jam. The battle items re both offensive and defensive often at the same time. Bombs, Projectile destroyers, shields and healing items will save you. Ship parts are either needed or are addons. Both break a random and must be repaired. The map is like FTL Along the main path there are shops, repair centers and dungeons called storm clouds. Completing storm clouds will give you 5x the amount of money. You have to really conserve both items and money. It's going to take skill to win. Good Luck! 1: Shoot emup 2: Dungeons 3: Space Travel 4: Being smart with money.
Elliot Quest was $1 on indie game stand quite a while before it launched. I should have bought it, but it looked nowhere near as interesting as the more recent screenshots make it look.
great idea for a new series. I would appreciate if you could put time stamps in the description and maybe share how much time you spent with every title you mention.
Now checking to see if you have a curator page. I love games like these and its a shame thats its easy to miss out on them due to lack of marketing and word of mouth.
I have a bunch of games that i have never really heard anybody talk about for the past year. Teleglitch is one, it was free a while ago and i think it's a simple but incredibly well polished game that does everything right with what it has. For instance you need to conserve ammo in this game so the developers made it impossible to accidently shoot your gun. How? By making M1 swing your melee and M2 put you in an aiming mode when held down where M1 now shoots. It's insanely frustrating and boring at the start which is probably what killed sales but once you adapt to this is becomes just as good as doom or quake of old. What are some of your favorite lesser known games?
I like this series; I'm not super interest in playing most of these games, but I might give Elliot Quest a go and it was nice hearing about things I've never heard of.
I really liked this video, george. Do you plan on doing this segment more often? is it reserved for games you enjoy or also for games you disliked? whatever the case I liked all four premises and want more of your inbox.
Thanks a lot for this video, all these games seem to be awesome :D (exept for NeonXSZ... I'm too addicted to the binding of isaac rebirth to play this one XD) I think the Steam sales are going to make them come to my library ^^ It would be cool if you made this kind of video more often :D (well, it's your channel, do whatever you want, just droping a thought here ^^)
Wow. I have the feeling that revolver 360 reactor is everything what the gummi ship missions from kingdom hearts are trying to be minus the customization. Now I really want this in kigdom hearts >.
Super Bunnyhop Now you've "Friend" to play with since you share it with us. but looking at the curator list that you made there isn't any game that you've talked about other than Revolver 360.
I bet you got this idea from totalbiscuits quick look series? Well, I gotta say, you did it better again. I really like your narrative style. Keep up the good work!
You're making your inbox sound really scary. "In.. my.. innnboxx...."
A really big thank you for this, both from me and the developers (I imagine). This is the type of thing I wouldn't have noticed otherwise and I sincerely look forward to trying some of these.
This is the best gaming channel on UA-cam. I love your videos George.
Nuh uh! PewDeePie is waaaaaaayyyy better!!!
***** I sincerely hope you are joking.
Alex Wellbelove of course, lol
Neocolonialism reminds me a bit of a game like Defcon. Very dark games that are played on a grand scale more focused on numbers than what is actually happening to the world at hand.
Take a shot every time he says "...in my inbox."
Yesterday I saw there's discount on Revolver360, and recalling George's suggestion, I went in. And oh boy. And I'm frustrated when I die not because I would have to retry, but that it broke my trance. Thank you for the suggestion.
Revolver 360 looks like it would make me terribly dizzy.
Neon XZS is EXACTLY what I've wanted for way too long and haven't been able to find. Thank you for getting word out, because I haven't heard anything about it.
Hopefully over the coming months you will hear more about it and a huge thanks to George for the exposure and endorsement.
NeonXSZ Videos Just bought it. It's great. Thank's for making this gem! :)
It kind of reminds me of Descent. No idea of the gameplay is anything looked it but that first person view is for sure, although I haven't played a Descent game in well over 15 years.
Looking at revolver 360 makes me feel ill.
Props to bunnyhop for actually helping indie developers like this.
I'd really like more of this series. There needs to be more people recommended good games that aren't well known. Then shit like Goat Simulator won't be so much in the limelight.
This could be a very interesting series! I'm really looking forward to more video's like this!
I'd love to see more of these going forward, Eliot Quest looks really interesting and I'd never have heard of it if not for this video.
8:03 "Or at least the façade of competition, since after all: there can only be one winner."
Love your reviews and analysis, but dude... one winner is a textbook definition of competition,

It even came as a free bonus game in a Geekfuel box :)
Thursdays, best days.
Thanks for doing this George. It is great to get to see obscure games get some attention. It reminds me somewhat of what Steamshots tried to do. Looking at that shmup while you explained its mechanics crushed my mind.
Hello, it's good to see someone stand up for smaller games and not just laugh at them and to actuly try to give feed back that isn't stock standard "this is a good game" but gives something more
Elliot Quest looks really interesting. I also liked Zelda 2 so maybe I'll check it out.
'Ittle Dew' is a nice zelda-clone
Keep it up George! Your sense of op ed journalism is refreshing.
What a fantastic video!
We need more attention to interesting smaller scale games like this; we have more than enough coverage of the AAA blockbuster games out there.
More of this!
Thanks for doing this George! I think it's a bloody fantastic idea as both an indie developer and a consumer =)
I really like these quick reviews. You should consider doing more like this!
I love the concept of this video, and would love to see more that fall along the same lines as this one
Keep up the good work George. Your videos stand above the rest and proudly on their own unique merit.
I remember seeing Elliott's Quest at the Seattle Indies Expo right next to Tumblestone, Memories of a Broken Dimension, and Crawl. I want to say they had it running on a Wii U. I had no idea it was out on PC. I'll have to pick it up.
Indie games that nobody heard of? what a suprise :D
I would really appreciate more of these episodes! Awesome video!
'tis a noble goal to get these games some publicity, George. Alas , I am afraid there are just too many AAA and Indie games already in my catalogue which are begging for my time.

This channel just keeps getting better!
Excellent video! A lot of games to keep in mind for when I have some time and cash to spare.

Make a series out of this as the idea behind it is exactly what I've been hoping to find on UA-cam.
Very good script writing in the videos. Worthy of a subscription.
Rambo actually came out before Zelda did. So Zelda is a Rambo clone.
"RE: Nosgoth VIP Beta Access"

(I'm sorry, I'll watch the rest of the video now)

I never understood all the hate that Adventures of Link gets. Its always been one of favorite games and Im always on the look out for more games that are similar. Thanks George for another great video.
It's refreshing to see this after all those big title reviews.
i'd love if you made a video like this every once in a while
Great video. I had already heard about Revolver 360 from one of your previous videos, but it's still good to hear about it again!
Not that interested in NeonXSZ, but Elliot Quest sounds pretty good and Neocolonialism sounds really interesting. I'll have to check those out.
I would love to see this as a series.
Really liked this. If you were taking cues from TB's Fifteen Minutes of Game (or whatever he's calling that series now), then you've done a much better job than he has.
As much as I'd like to try that 360 game, it looks like it can get someone nauseous real fast...
That third game actually looks really neat.
I really like these videos, they show games you wouldn't normally find. Same with the Japanese Indie Games video.
It would be really cool if you made this into a series or something like that
And now I bought ELLIOT QUEST for myself. A game I've never heard of before I watched this video. Thanks again. ^^
More! This is great.
Did anyone catch the title drop?
Do you think you'll do more vids like this down the line?
I'm going to go through and combine all the games mentioned into one big game idea for each video.

Revolver 360 Re:actor looks amazing! I'm not a fan of this type of game, but this one looks really fun.
Thanks for sharing and great video!
The pronunciation of 'XSZ' was most amusing, George. :)
I love the Dune reference in Neocolonialism. If I ever get this game I will only play as the Combine Honnete Ober Advancer Merchantiles.
This was a great idea. Feel free to dip back into your inbox in the future :D
Elliot Quest was $1 on indie game stand quite a while before it launched. I should have bought it, but it looked nowhere near as interesting as the more recent screenshots make it look.
This would be cool as a series, doing it once in a while
REVOLVER360 is fantastic. So thanks for that, I would'nt have found it without this vid!
Only one pixelated game? I am intrigued.
Turn this into a series, George.
great idea for a new series. I would appreciate if you could put time stamps in the description and maybe share how much time you spent with every title you mention.
Fantastic segment! Keep up the good work :)
Great video, hope you make a series of this.
Wow, Neocolonialism looks super interesting. Thanks!
C.J. Cregg: Yeah, but you can't do that.
Dr. John Fallow: Why not?
C.J. Cregg: 'Cause it's freaking me out.
Recently picked up Revolver 360. Christ, that game is hard, but still great fun.
Neocolonialism is on Steam
"QuestWorld looking place".... wow, I wonder how many people will get that reference.
I've seen Vertiginous Golf on NorthernLion's channel. Never heard of the other games though.
The swing wing advert music o_O
+Robert Anderson IT'S A SWING WING!!!!
i bought revolver 360 because of this video and it is amazing.
4:00 What about 3D Dot Game Heroes?
Now checking to see if you have a curator page. I love games like these and its a shame thats its easy to miss out on them due to lack of marketing and word of mouth.
I know of another worthwhile zelda clone, Alundra on the Playstation 1 and PSN as well.
Basically A link to the Past but with a really dark storyline.
love the format
Elliot quest looks a lot like Phoenotopia, you should give that game a shot.
Illumigeorgie.
Best name ever
I have a bunch of games that i have never really heard anybody talk about for the past year.

Neocolonialism looks nice, I'll check it out. Thanks, comrade!
Wow :) It would be fantastic if you could continue this series :)
Yo I really liked this video. Hopefully there are more of these down the line :)
Heh, that one game as a side project I've been making throughout my life could've been on here.
This is great! Do more of these kind of videos please!
Thanks a lot for this video, all these games seem to be awesome :D (exept for NeonXSZ... I'm too addicted to the binding of isaac rebirth to play this one XD)

Vertiginous Golf-- I've seen Northernlion play some of that on his Twitch live show.
Wow. I have the feeling that revolver 360 reactor is everything what the gummi ship missions from kingdom hearts are trying to be minus the customization. Now I really want this in kigdom hearts >.
George seems to be a really big fan of shmups
Super Bunnyhop Now you've "Friend" to play with since you share it with us.
but looking at the curator list that you made there isn't any game that you've talked about other than Revolver 360.
That first game made me motion sick and I'm only watch you play it... wow
Goddamnit now I want you to review vertiginous golf...
DAMN THAT ELLIOT QUEST WORLD MAP IS NIIIIIIIIIIICE
Thanks, George!
NeonXSZ sounds a bit like Hardwar, if anyone remembers that.
I bet you got this idea from totalbiscuits quick look series? Well, I gotta say, you did it better again. I really like your narrative style. Keep up the good work!
One critique, stop saying my inbox so much.
