  • Turning a 3D print into lead! The first print I work on is a 3D printed air gun bullet, and I used just normal plaster casting to make it. Here's a video of it being shot out of my homemade 'MAS' gun • 3D Printed Airgun Bullets The second is a Monitor from the Halo game series, and to make it is just wet it down and threw layer after layer of plaster on it until it had a sizable shell. This one really shows that the casting method can capture some fine detail.
Lead casting can be very dangerous so don't attempt something like this unless you're an adult who knows what you're doing and are willing to accept the consequences of your actions.

The layer lines and voids make The Monitor look really good.

I think if you perfect this technique you could cast turbine wheels and be able to 3D print a self sustaining jet engine

This is what I was looking for for a while! Im working on some combustion rifle and because its not a standard barrel (because for some reason they do not sell those in the local supermarket). But ammo has been an issue, paper darts with a nail in em was too inconsitant. This might help a lot, thank you :)

      Reconcidering.
If you wanna go further with the airgun pellets wouldnt it be better to do an open top casting? So you can get the print out of it clean and with a bit of luck you can get your casts out without breaking the cast. So for making multiple it might help.
This will limit the shapes you can do but like civil war style slugs should be possible. And even some modern style rifle ammo.
Also, Lead shrinks when it cools so you kinda get a hollow back which is great cause the expanding gass will actualy widen the outer rim of your ammo creating a tighter seal :)
