Merry Christmas! Anyone have any fun holiday plans? We're excited to be staying home this year and will mostly be relaxing, reading, and eating. It'll actually be our first Christmas in our house since we bought it! And here's your final reminder to get one of my prints before the store closes for a year: adventureartifacts.com -Tristan
Merry Christmas to you and yours, Tristan ❤ So happy to hear your cozy, warm plans for Christmas. I loved this video, that forest was gorgeous. It must have been just what you were yearning.🫶🎅🌲
You know Tristen, Your doing a reset on this trip, but for us, your veiwers, every video you put out for us is a reset! They rarely have any drama, overload of info, they are just great videos to watch. Have a great Christmas Holiday with the Family and stay Sober for New Years!!
Man, that one shot looking into trees on zigzagging mountains stopped my heart. What a treat, Tristan. You’re the best guide. No gimmicks, no drama. I’m here for it. ❤
Tristan! I was on the survey crew that did s first order survey of the Idaho/Canada/Montana border in 1978! We saw the woodland caribou! The herd ran right past us! We met with wildlife biologists for the forest service the next day …first observation in years! Thanks for the memories!
Merci! Wishing you and Cassie a very Merry Christmas…. That was a great video calm and beautiful… y Thanks for à’ the joy your bring to us! Merci beaucoup!
Keep inspiring the rest of us to explore, enjoy & unplug from the "Noise" which pervades all of our lives in this digital age. "The Quiet is where so much of life is figured out." Priceless ! Merry Christmas to you Cassie & Family Tristan !
So glad you’re doing this reset day. Although I love the variety and newer types of adventures, I feel like this was the type of video I saw the most of when I first subscribed a couple of years ago and I love it!
As much as I enjoy the music you usually use, this was a nice treat just hearing the wind and your footfalls, with headphones you can really put yourself in the frame. Kinda tingly.
Huckleberries are so good and we pick them all the time backpacking in Idaho. A little pancake mix with huckleberries and you have a great breakfast. Huckleberries are only found in the mountains as they are a high elevation berry.
Need to back up your bear spray with a good 10mm like a Springfield XDM-elite in a readily accessible chest rig. Spray for the curious, 10mm for the preditory attack that blows through the spray. Seems like there were extraordinary number of bear attacks this fall. They say they are "rare", but it you are selected for a meal, not rare enough. Enjoy your videos but would hate to loose you to a hungry preditor.
Love the drone shot of the switchbacks on the trail. Thanks for sharing a serene, relaxing, away from the crowds experience with us. Merry Christmas to you and the family!
Just lovely!! You remind me of wisdom I heard long ago about the importance of remembering that we are 'human beings' rather than 'human doings'. Time in nature serves me well with its nurturing of my human beingness. So glad to have that in common with others. And grateful for you, Tristan, for how you share and inspire others! Merry Christmas!
Tristan if everyone of your videos were all just like this one it’s all I need to get me through another day thanks so much. From an old man in south Louisiana merry Christmas and happy holidays to you and your family.
Nice to see some POV footage included too; always gives a nice 'personal' impression. The top-down aerial look on one of the switchbacks was great too :-)
Happy Holidays! I’ve been watching your channel for a number of years now….. Fantastic Exploring! Have you thought about including hiking maps in your reviews. Best wishes going further!
Tristian, I have been watching your videos for 4-5 years and this was so peaceful. I have to say that I truly enjoyed the sounds of nature and your steps crunching on the ground, more so than any music. I hope to encourage you to keep your b role the tunes of your environment. It was wonderful!
Morning/Afternoon Tristan this was a beautiful peaceful reset hike. Loved the mountains & always the tall green trees 🌲. Glad you didn’t become a wildlife meal along with the berries 😮😊👍🏻
Well, Merry Christmas and happy new year! I look forward to watching your videos every Saturday morning after breakfast with a nice cup of coffee. I love your decision to limit the music and just utilize the natural audio of your hike. My favorite part was at the 9:04 mark; such an epic drone shot! I also wanted to let you know I received the Polaroid picture and sticker in the mail the other day and I love it!
On top of Little Snowy Peak I still get amazed at the view and spender of the mountain ranges. Glad you did not pass anybody else so to keep your mind clear and regenerated.
21:03 Morning Tristan wanted to Stick It to afternoon Tristan. How dare he make you climb that in the afternoon. Hahaha. You are such a hoot. That was a good chuckle. I enjoy your videos so much.
What a great hike you got to do! You're right about the Selkirk range, if you're ever back in Canada the most dramatic scenery is between Golden and Revelstoke. And then there's a road that goes north of Revelstoke for almost 2 hours to the Mica Dam. Absolutely stunning with numerous logging roads off of it with the most bear droppings I've ever seen 😅
I really enjoyed this hike as well. I certainly would like to see the scenery as you hike. The clip where you were wearing the GoPro was wonderful. Glad you gave yourself a day to hike and reset. Thanks for bringing us along.
The theme is fitting for this time of year where we can take some time to slow down, relax and reflect on some fundamentals in our lives. Thank you for bringing that spirit into this video. I really enjoyed all the Alaska content since I grew up there and traveled to Utah with my family every couple years. Have a merry Christmas!
My husband and I recently drove from Oregon to Myrtle Beach SC, up to WA D.C and across the upper US back home in 28 days. Fun but exhausting! And I didn’t make any videos along the way. I can see clearly how what you do for all of us is a full time job! Thank you 🙏 Merry Christmas to you and yours
Wow, Tristan, Selkirk Mountain is now on my bucket list. Beautiful, quiet, and solitary. Lovely. Perfect video to release during this crazy time of year. Appreciating the silence. Happy Holidays & as always, be well. Oh, and next year, jumping out of a plane.
Thanks My quite time is cross country skiing so peaceful, everyone needs quiet time so good for your mental health. Another beautiful video thanks and Merry Christmas to you and your beautiful wife. I really have enjoyed this series.
Refreshing! Love the content, yes, but also the variety you bring to your channel, that inspires me too. I make a patchwork quilt of a life and the memories never stop. Want to tell you, I especially like the moments of reflection at the ends of each episode, where you get us into the habit of reflecting, of consciously digesting what we've just done together. You don't just recap it or break it down into bite-sized pieces, we recognize meaning and grace. I love it. The way you bring things into context, perspective, that you don't just point out things of interest on your channel. That's worthy. Merry Christmas and happy holidays to you and your family.
I'm always looking around for bears and whatever else might be out there following you down the trails! Absolutely gorgeous hike! So peaceful. I live vicariously through you 😅. Thanks for another great video and taking everyone along with you.
Northern Idaho is my prior playground, Priest lake is beautiful in the fall. Creating content is much more difficult than most people can imagine, but Tristan makes it look easy. Happy Christmas to all.
Love those fresh trail berries too! In NC, there are a lot of wild blackberries where my wife and I go walking. We look forward to June, when they’re ripe and plump. Sweet and sour, nothing better!
Thanks for the video Tristan ! The mushrooms at 16:03 look like a black horn of plenty or Craterellus cornucopioides, is one of my favorite edible wild mushrooms. AKA: black chanterelles, black trumpets, or trumpet of the dead. It is a particularly flavorful mushroom that goes very nicely with beef.
Well i`ll be dipped ! Thank You kindly ! Been trying to find the name of this "plant" for years. It grows profusely in my mid-coast Oregon yard. It is the (ugliest plant) i have ever seen, looking necrotic, & have named it The Death Plant. Mine are blackish-grey with a tinge of white. Can`t get rid of the stuff. Would absolutely take over my whole yard if i didn`t remove it ! Just dug out a wheelbarrow full last month. Now you imply that it is a (valuable, edible mushroom: Craterellus Cinereus, AKA: Black Chanterelle). Guess i`ll have to get myself a dehydrator & sell it to some local restaurants !!
@@blusnuby2 Happy to be of service ! One word of caution is to be sure that the underside of the mushroom is covered in narrow folds of tissue rather than razor thin true gills. (While not every gilled mushroom is toxic, I've heard many times that all of the most dangerous mushrooms in the western US have gills.) It is even better if you can find someone to confirm the identification. The distinguishing characteristic of most edible mushrooms for me is their unique texture. For this one it's the flavor that I enjoy.
@@noyopacific Thank You for that important information. Have found that ""Black Chanterelle"" is an umbrella name that covers at least (4) species of Craterellus genus. The type growing in my yard is NOT the Black Trumpet, most often referred to as a Black Chanterelle Mushroom. But it is very similar to the next (3): Ashen Chanterelle, California Black Chanterelle & Blue (or Purple) Chanterelle. "My type" has noticeable 'veins' with 'hair'-like protrusions on the leaf`s white underside. There are NO GILLS. All 4 types of Black Chanterelle Mushrooms are edible. I will move forward cautiously....👍👌👍
Thanks, Tristan for another very enjoyable video. And many thanks for another year of fantastic adventures ❣️ Happy Holidays ❄️☃️🎄 to you and Cassie, and wishing you the very best in the coming year.💫
We are actually moving to this area of Washington next summer and I have been studying this wilderness area. Loved getting to see your trip. Thanks for taking us along. Great video.
Those blueberries are super delicious. Truly all natural. No pesticides spray on them. Good & sweet from the beautiful sunshine. Hiking a beautiful area. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.
That was a rather long hike! I max out at 9 miles (assuming not a ton of elevation climb). Granted, I have almost 15 years on you...still happy I can get some miles in these days. I enjoyed this video because it was just very serene and such a beautiful area. Simple things are always welcome.
The Salmo is a very remote place. I've camped and crossed from Sullivan Lake to Priest Lake. It is very legit. Would love to see you enjoy the east side of the Selkirk crest up the Pack River. Thanks for another great video.
That is such a great area. I have stayed in the same exact camp site. Thank you for showcasing my backyard. There are some great hidden features in NE WA.

That's amazing!
All I can say is wow. This reminds me of smoky mountains in Tennessee.
I'm glad there's no music. I can't remember hiking with music playing. The sounds of nature are more than sufficient. Thanks
Sometimes you need to gain some elevation to soothe the weary soul. I love being up high in the mountains.
You are a 21 century John Muir. Exploring the mountains of the great western skies.😁
WISHING YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ALL THE VERY BEST for the holidays and in the New Year of 2025!
Thanks for sharing, Merry Christmas...
Such fun to share your enjoyment in this video. The quiet was contagious and welcomed!
Thank you!
I love hiking on a perfect weather day and seeing few to zero people. Beautiful video!
Thanks!
Wow, thank you!

Blueberries mean bears! Be careful. Gorgeous shot at 8:50. Wow. Serene and beautiful on Snowy Top.
Sasquatch love those berries, too.

The quiet is where so much of life is figured out.
I love all the variety of your photography! It was great seeing the drone photos of the switchbacks! That added so much!
Great video. That area of the country is really pretty, and the huckleberries from there are probably my most favorite delicacy of all.
