Day 119: Everything, Everywhere, All At Once / CDT Thru-hike 2024

- Опубліковано 7 лют 2025
- I intend to hike the Continental Divide Trail (CDT) in 2024 and will vlog my experience. Follow me under "Old Man and the CDT."
I am Mike Current, 61-years-old, and retired military. I served for over 30 years in the US Army.
After retirement, I opened two small businesses. But after a few years, I sold both businesses because they were taking time away from pursuing personal goals, like hiking and sailing.
I hiked the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) in 2020 and Appalachian Trail (AT) in 2022. I vlogged (video journaled) my experiences under "Old Man and the PCT" and "Old Man and the AT", respectively.
I sailed around the Chesapeake Bay in my Tayana 37 sailboat over the summer of 2023 and vlogged the experience under the UA-cam channel "Old Man and the Sea."
I do not monetize my videos in any manner. However, if you would like to contribute to helping veterans thru-hike as a form of therapy for PTSD, please consider donating to Warrior Expeditions at warriorexpedit...
Ladies 🚺 are thoughtful! 😇!
Thank you again for taking us along on your adventure. Like I said before... I hope you don't wake up to ashes raining down on your tents. Lighting and fires, can sure make a person uncomfortable. ❤🙏👍🥾😊
So sad to see so much burn area and then a huge smoke cloud knowing more is burning. Glad you're getting safely through those parts. Widow makers are no joke. Yet, another great day. 👏👏👏
That smoke in Idaho was impressive!
Hi Mike. Another beautiful sunrise.I would really miss that. That was a long stretch of burn area to go threw. That's an issues with your Garmin, especially with the fire getting big. I hope you're planning your next hike.Really look forward to your great videos. Thanks Mike. Be Strong, Be Safe, and thanks for taking us on his Journey
Certainly some trail maintenance required on those blowdowns.
What a variety today. Yeah. You called in the title. A good day. Onwards.😅
Old Man in the wheel chair is also keeping track of you .
Thanks, Pete.
Unfortunately, we will all be hiking through burn areas in the west. May change the views of many future thru hikers. Excited to see you fully in Montana--a state I have still never been to though I have lived in the PNW my whole life.
Morning, Mike. A day of "too much going on". Those burn areas are so sad, but it was good to see some of the areas are being regenerated. Sunrise this morning was exceptional. Sad and scary to see the smoke and flames from another fire. Know ya'll are ok becaise you posted, but it is still scary. Watch our for those widowmakers. Take care. Stay safe. See you tomorrow.
That smoke was a little too close for comfort
🦋❤️
Gooooood morning welcome to Montana 27 miles ! Motoring along
Stay safe Mike😊
No theme required today. Another Great Day.
You're in my backyard Mike.
It's a great day, Energizer! When making plans from day to day, how do you typically determine the appropriate miles for the next day?
When hiking alone, I just walk until I get tired or it gets dark. Right now, Knee Deep and Mash determine our camp spots based on terrain, elevation changes for the day, and weather. We adjust the plan at lunch if needed or if we are doing better than expected.
Pondering a potpourri of possibilities for a theme to title today's video, his first full day in Montana, Energizer decides to go with the 2022 Academy Award-sweeping film, Everything, Everywhere, All At Once, which according to its Wikipedia entry, under the heading of Themes, "incorporates elements from a number of genres and film mediums, including surreal comedy, science fiction, fantasy, martial arts films and animation." The film, also described as a "swirl of genre anarchy," seems like a fitting comparison to Energizer's videos since I find his presentation to be quite diverse, informative, humorous, and entertaining.😉
