I've seen this as well. Uber and Lyft will lowball drivers as much as possible. I don't accept anything under $7 in the same town. I don't care about the acceptance score.
I took a guy to airport yesterday. It was Comfort 17.3 mile ride and i got $32.14 out of it. Guy complained that Uber got more expensive. Turns out he got charged $82.73. That's really f@kd up He left a $12 tip after our conversation
So was it a $20.14 ride initially? Uber has been down to paying drivers a third of the fare for a while. Drivers, I implore you, have a plan B. Uber has to be a secondary or lower (way lower), if possible, source of income. The Professor here is showing us in his videos the decline of Uber. Autonomous Vehicles, lack of support from legislators or regulators, ripping us drivers off, and on and on. Keep up the good work Professor.
Not quite yet, maybe in the future but this really should be criminal. 💯💵 I mean it's ridiculous and just plain evil. If this isn't "corporate greed" I don't know what is.
You are 💯 correct. I have seen this exact scenario myself. I used to worry about declining the small ride, I felt they wouldn’t give me anything good later. I now know this isn’t true.
This is facts Rideshare Professor! Nowadays, if the trip is not at least $7.00 while also considering my minimum of $1.00 per mile rule, I won't take it. They can give the trips that don't meet my expectations to other drivers because one thing I can say is that I am not the only driver on the road. So someone else that is closer or who has different goals can take it. I have to stick to my goals so that I can meet my own needs. Period!
That guy who “asked who are you to make him decline 2$ trip” is Uber employee they usually pretend to be a driver in order to influence drivers to accept garbage fare
Let's see what that employee says if Uber lays him off or fires him one day. Or, when there are more successful Rideshare companies, and a lot less riders want to use Uber or Lyft, then they have to let some employees go, let's see what he says then. Also, how much are they paying him to say that too? He needs to take that into account.
@@fabricekdk6573 the West is bankrupt but still putting a brave face and keep bragging about, poverty is real and Uber is the proof imagine working when you know you won’t be able to pay your bills
I have also noticed this BS... i will accept a trip that pays well 1.50 or more a mile. Only to have it cycle for several minutes and lose the trip to it, saying it is no longer available. I take this as Uber offered it to other drivers at a lower rate, and they took it from me. I also gotten the ride only for it to cancel with in the next 2 or 3 minutes headed to pickup. I also believe the algorithm offered the trip i was on and driving to was given to a lower paid driver... 2 times i went to the pick up and saw the passenger, and they told me tjey didnt change it, and it switched drivers on their own.
I'll go home before I start taking those low paying rides. I wouldn't even back out of my driveway for $3.00 or $4.00. I won't take any ride that pays below a certain amount. I won't say how much that is in this comment but I think what I will and won't accept is reasonable in relation to the city in which I live. It works for me.
You are 100% right. The problem is there are many desperate drivers otherwise nobody will be taken advantage of. In Wisconsin Uber does not give us upfront pay. We have to actually look at the distance to estimate what we will be making in order to pick yes or no, and if our acceptance rate goes below 85% then they will not even give us the distance and the direction the ride is going.
I live in colorado, if i accept every ride uber give me, i wont be able to survive...so, i dont accept any pay less than $10 and i dont accept anything less than $1.20 per a mile. Although this has reduced my acceptance rate to 28%, i still get decent rides.
Where in Colorado? I am also in Colorado-Denver. If I waited for $1.20 per mile, I'd never work. My acceptance rate is 15%. I mostly focus on getting to the airport, then hopefully get a ride out right away, otherwise I dead back to try and catch another one.
They need drivers, but not getting this driver very much, even I see the customer standing there in front of me, I'm sure they wonder why I'm not picking them up, I told them just coz you see available cars don't mean you can get it, Uber is standing in their way of getting in my car
Yep. You could not have said it any better. I don’t take anything under a dollar a mile and last week I rejected a lot of offers because they were all under a dollar mile even with surge.
I’ve seen a 7 dollar ride turn into 15…mainly because I know my area…rejected 3 offers…they’re thinking it’s dead in this area so I’ll take whatever to leave…but I’m thinking it’s dead up here and no driver hangs around here😁
Here in Orlando is much worse, $.30-$.50 per mile and drivers are accepting them all, why, because rydeshare companies offered bonuses for drivers to recruit new drivers. Now the market is over populated and a lot of drivers, especially the beginner ones, are accepting every ride. It's the lowest paying offers in the country. Sad.
I am new 😕 but this is all I ever seen in our area...so I just assume its the normal. I try to average 1 dollar a mile best I can, or If i see comfort or green pop up i snatch them up without consideration. 3-4 dollar trips is all we see everywhere. I have been considering leaving Orlando to drive around in other areas to see if it's the same cuz Orlando driving is basically slave labor, paying Uber to drive their customers for most of the trips here.
Boston airport prices are killing costumer, no more tips like before because rides are so expanse, 20 mile ride costumer are paying $75 dollars, uber paying for driver less than $30 dolars😢
Definitely the person accepting these rides. Desperate or not needs to do basic math. In 60 minutes you will get something like 5 1/2 rides. At $3.22. Then you wind up only making about $18 an hour. On a 10 hour day at $18 an hour. At 5 1/2 rides an hour will do 55 rides and make $180. You will put roughly 167 miles a day on your car. If you’re in a hybrid that could produce 50 miles a gallon. Roughly that’s $15 a day if you stop and grab some cheap meal that’s five bucks a day. I don’t have your cost of insurance per month or the cost of your car payment per month. But at the end of the month, what did you actually make. You’ll spend all your money trying to make a dollar an hour.
As a “rideshare” driver, you have to be SMARTER than the algorithm. I only drive for $2+ per mile. If I drive 50 miles, I rather have $100+ than just $50 THINK long-term like the Professor said.
I have learned to divide the time it takes to make the trip in half and the time it takes to get to the rider in half then add the times up. This should be a good approximation of the dollar value per trip. If it's real close, I take it. I do not have the time to also calculate the miles. I find calculating the time and dividing each by half and then adding the time up is the easiest and fastest calculation. Whenever I don't take a cheap paying trip it seems like a better paying one always pops up sooner than later.
We can't use that formula here in the Rio Grande Valley mainly because we don't get upfront fare information. I know the first was a trip radar and the second wasn't. We don't see how much we get paid until after we've complete the trip. It's complete bullshit that Uber won't give upfront fares to ALL markets.
I tried to apply the $1 per mile as close as I can however in a market like st Petersburg there's not enough ride requests to be sustainable.looking for a job, I have no intention to devalue my car with peanuts pay !
Lyft is really ridiculous with the trips they send to us. I mostly work out of the airport but Lyft doesn't give us a waiting queue so that we only get trips from the terminal. as a result, i get frequent request where they want me to drive 10 miles to pick up someone and drop them off .6 miles from the pickup. This automatically get rejected and my AR on Lyft is 6%
During peak times the odds of getting that same order again is slim to none . The only time this happens is late at night and there are limited drivers.
I just do delivery but I can be in the restaurant and get a order from there and if it’s crap pay even if I am going the same direction I gladly decline them. My AR is normally around 10-12%
Well as independent contractor I acept trips from 20 dollars to 50 dollars ❤that’s it customers have to show their name their picture and be 5 stars customers and by the time when I’m on the pick up they have to be on time and happy smiling if they’re not there ready I just cancelled the trip by the time my formula 80 porcent of the profit doing riders comes from the 20 por cent of my best 35 trips per week only not more for now until they have better offer to me thanks profesor have a nice day your the best
He's the Rideshare Professor who's trying to help us out and help us make more money. Either you're desperate or sympathetic to these white collar crooks.
Yall lucky, I can't even see the price at all here in Nacogdoches, tx and I'm under 85% acceptance rates and only shows me how far away it is, does not show how far the rider is going. Sucks here in my town.
Today I saw that opposite algorithm. I had $60.00 offer comfort. The same ride showed up 4 times and it dropped each time. Disneyland area to Agorura Hills. $52 5 minutes later.
and lyft paying 4 and 6 for xl ..i dont know how they can get away with this man..and those guys that made the app and the fake gps going to jail ,10.000 fines ,or whatever ..but when these apps ceo will go to jail for stealing millions and millions daily ?..when?..where are the politics or the ones who can do something for the drivers ?.
It's sad because I guarantee you they're charging the rider anywhere from $10 to $12 but only giving us around $4 or 5 dollars if not less than that. A darn shame. Again Uber & their bullshit!!
Ever since Lyft said that my 2016 Infinity QX80 is only worth regular or XL rides I’ve been doing this. I will not accept anything under $5. Also wondering why Lyft doesn’t add an instant tip fee into the price of the ride? $1 or $2 will add up at the end of the day for the driver.
Usually its the opposite, the "exclusives" send the low paying trash and declining those affects AR, meanwhile trip radar would give the same trip with a few cents to a dollar some extra. I hate how trip radar doesn't increase AR, a lot of the time both are garbage, but trip radar sometimes pays better and gives me a trip to an area I want to go. I rarely accept those trash $6 and under rides, not worth my time because it takes longer than what Uber would say it takes.
I wouldn't even take that for food delivery. And I own my own car and do most of the maintenance on it myself. We have to be competitive with these companies instead of taking everything! These companies run roughshod over both drivers and customers because we allow them to.
The worst thing is that the new drivers don't know a thing 💩💩what happens with the rates and they accept them all. Uber wants to keep new drivers and send the veterans to the 💩💩 🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦
I have mentioned how bad Uber/Lyft have gotten and how bad the rates are to some passengers. Occasionally get a rider who tells me I would get better offers if I have a higher AR. Or cancel less frequent. Such BS. Not an employee or an ant of Uber. Majority of rides now days are under $1 a mile. I seen it where I am in a high surge zone and every ride Uber gives me are still under a $1 a mile. Like sending me a $3 surge with a rider going 15 miles but the pay is $12 with the $3 surge. Meaning the ride only paying me $9. Or getting a ride for only $7 with the $3 surge going 5+ miles. F these apps. When Uber play games like that then I do Lyft instead. If Lyft plays games then I do Uber. And if both play games I wait. Also, in terms of these low fares the lowest I will go is $4. But that $4 has to be less then 2 miles including pick up. I will not take $3 rides. Lyft has sent me plenty of those that I decline. Uber minimum in my market is $4.17. Lyft is $2.81.
$3.22 close to 12 minutes = 12.88 every hour $5.05 close to 12 minutes = 20.20 every hour Neither are good for a Contractor. Think about how much you pay a contractor to do work in your house. $35+ and hour. Uber is robbing drivers.
when i started doing ride share i was making $35 -$40 an hour easy, now maybe $18, so i stop and want back to flpping burgers for $20, work in town, fuel is $100 for the month vs $40 a day... best choice i made, i wold like to go back to rideshare but.. its not worth it anymore...
That desperado is also screwing other drivers by accepting those 2 dollar rides and Uber sees this so they keep putting out that garbage prices here in Phoenix Arizona we have fools jumping on trip radar that make no sense period 17 dollars for say 33 miles and these drivers jump on this crap
Who wants to be scammed like that? $3.22 is beyond an insult, it went up because customer tipped when they realized no one would pick them up. Uber did not raise fair, Uber could care less.
sounds like you are still under the rate card way, look up the rates in your area, then you can guess about how much you are making per ride by looking at the mileage and time for the ride
I did this for a bit but then Uber decided to punish me by not showing me the trip details until i accepted the next few rides in a row.. this has happened to me a couple of times. Does this happen to anyone else??
Taking ANY trip below $9/$10 is idiotic! Man….. I drove 8 trips yesterday, made $283.91 in 7 hrs 8 min. That’s $36/hr $35/trip. Did all this cherry picking. Screw the acceptance rate.
We should all just decline the first time we see an offer, unless it is Very fair, but that's also like saying every low-wage worker in the world should unionize not exactly easy..
We should all decline any trip more than 7 miles away and/or under $2.00 per mile... We have the power to retrain the Uber algorithim and bring Uber to its knees... All we have to do is stand as one.
Not worth driving for Lyft anymore. Too many desperate drivers taking anything, and Lyft knows it. This service is only worth it if you're drunk and need a ride. They'll keep you out of jail.
My thinking is if you’re desperate why in the hell are you doing this? You sure the hell aren’t going to make any money doing these deliveries if you’re desperate! Back in the day you could but not anymore. If you’re desperate find you a part time job making 15-20 an hour. If you’re taking 2 and 3 dollar orders you’re making below minimum wage per hour
When im out and they keep sending these $3 -$6 rides I will log out its not worth my time or gas. Either way my bills will get paid. Plus my private client is becoming more repetitive. Let those desperate driver take those trash rides.
man is not know how much you worth ,is that i was 98% acceptance rate and they start sending me 2.45 ,3.24 order one after the other one and my acceprance rate went down to 24 ,im now standard mode and they wont send me regular pins ,only radars and one every hour ,i made yesterday 24.74 in 12 hours after wsiting and waiting ..and i think i will try only lyft today ,if i can go ahead with it i will uninstall uber app ,im waiting for indrive background check and vlue ,i cant continue being forced ,manipulated and controlled while being classified by themselves as an independent contractor ,its a breach of contract constantly ,discrimination ,sexual arrasement ,and politics here in florida wont care ,or they dont know ..this is bs ,,

But you need to look at how many miles you are doing for that 10+
You are 💯 correct. I have seen this exact scenario myself. I used to worry about declining the small ride, I felt they wouldn’t give me anything good later. I now know this isn’t true.
I also need to pay the bills, but i won't accept low ball offers. I rather wait a little more and get more money. Gas is expensive. Costs are high.

I was doing this on uber and now I don’t get rides at all on uber.
Uber turns off your app. internally and punishes you for rejecting the rides.
Do your own oil changes and tire rotations save $90+
Alot of pathetic and desperate drivers out there and Uber loves every second of it
$3.22 is brutal. Why do different states have different minimums? In Colorado the lowest fare is $4.89.
In Florida I think its $2.62 ouch
Just last night i rejected an $8 ride for .05 mile 30 seconds later the same ride reoffered at $12.74 winner!
$3.22 close to 12 minutes = 12.88 every hour
$5.05 close to 12 minutes = 20.20 every hour
Neither are good for a Contractor.
Uber does rob its drivers here in Phoenix Arizona as well. We should get together and fight for our rights.
That desperado is also screwing other drivers by accepting those 2 dollar rides and Uber sees this so they keep putting out that garbage prices here in Phoenix Arizona we have fools jumping on trip radar that make no sense period 17 dollars for say 33 miles and these drivers jump on this crap
Hold the line
Who wants to be scammed like that? $3.22 is beyond an insult, it went up because customer tipped when they realized no one would pick them up. Uber did not raise fair, Uber could care less.
New Jersey, Lyft the same 🚫
My offers get lower and lower like I'm to be desperate. I declined and go offline
I hate shared. They paid me $5 for the second person for a 30 min ride. They don’t show any details up front for the second rider
Turn off trips after first rider pick up
Just looking at this makes me sick. Not even $5
Is there a way to get up front fare? Where I drive all I get is a time it don't show what I make until after I complete the ride
sounds like you are still under the rate card way, look up the rates in your area, then you can guess about how much you are making per ride by looking at the mileage and time for the ride
I'm still really new at this only been doing it for about a month, and have around 150 rides or so
So how do you look up rates
I did this for a bit but then Uber decided to punish me by not showing me the trip details until i accepted the next few rides in a row.. this has happened to me a couple of times. Does this happen to anyone else??
depends on your acceptance rate, if it's below a threshold they don't show you the info,
Make video about uber appear rejection.
Taking ANY trip below $9/$10 is idiotic! Man….. I drove 8 trips yesterday, made $283.91 in 7 hrs 8 min. That’s $36/hr $35/trip. Did all this cherry picking. Screw the acceptance rate.
What state you drive in though?! Because that matters as well
We should all just decline the first time we see an offer, unless it is Very fair, but that's also like saying every low-wage worker in the world should unionize not exactly easy..
We should all decline any trip more than 7 miles away and/or under $2.00 per mile...
We have the power to retrain the Uber algorithim and bring Uber to its knees...
All we have to do is stand as one.
Dollar three pay soon will come.
Not worth driving for Lyft anymore. Too many desperate drivers taking anything, and Lyft knows it. This service is only worth it if you're drunk and need a ride. They'll keep you out of jail.
If you are accepting $2 rides, go find another gig to do.
Probably an Uber Employee
When im out and they keep sending these $3 -$6 rides I will log out its not worth my time or gas. Either way my bills will get paid. Plus my private client is becoming more repetitive. Let those desperate driver take those trash rides.
My TURN to start CHERRY PICKING 🍒 👍🏼
Both offers are trash
man is not know how much you worth ,is that i was 98% acceptance rate and they start sending me 2.45 ,3.24 order one after the other one and my acceprance rate went down to 24 ,im now standard mode and they wont send me regular pins ,only radars and one every hour ,i made yesterday 24.74 in 12 hours after wsiting and waiting ..and i think i will try only lyft today ,if i can go ahead with it i will uninstall uber app ,im waiting for indrive background check and vlue ,i cant continue being forced ,manipulated and controlled while being classified by themselves as an independent contractor ,its a breach of contract constantly ,discrimination ,sexual arrasement ,and politics here in florida wont care ,or they dont know ..this is bs ,,
Accept lowball offers = get more lowball offers
In Atlanta I would get the same trip 5 times and the price wouldn't go up. 😂😢
