Checking out what's inside a ring doorbell camera and security camera. You can take it apart to turn on the always-on circle LED or disable the IR LEDs.

Super helpful video. I was concerned that the white leds would draw kids/drunks to the doorbell not to mention the attention of neighbours who may think im making a point of having a camera device with a ring light aggravating them. I Bought this exact kit you use and opened mine up. I used black insulation tape and cut small pieces with scissors a little bit bigger than each led then I taped over just the white ones. Now at night the only light is the 2 red ir lights which are far less noticeable.

This was useful. I plan on buying one but I needed to see if disassembling it would be easy and not a hassle. I want to fit the camera into the door's peephole but looks like I'm gonna need to figure a way to fit the board that it's connected to. I don't want to put it outside the door which is why I want to do this.

@J0kerHecz hey, did you manage to install the camera and button separately into your door?

instead of breaking the Led, why not just tape them or use nail polish that can be removed if necessary?

Very interesting. Needed to see how they arranged the LEDs.. I think some tinted film + xacto knife will do the trick. If desired you can probably stack slim pieces of film so as to preserve any of the troubleshooting indicators whilst making them as close to dark as possible..

Would it be possible to add a little switch behind the push button to activate a mechanical chime?

I have the same ring doorbell as the one in your video, the problem with mine is the speaker is really load and distorted when I'm talking to someone at my front door, the person at my front door can't even understand what I'm saying. Do you know if the speaker is faulty or can I turn the volume down somehow? There is a volume setting in the app but it's only for the chime when button is pressed and not the chat volume. Good interesting video.

Is there any way to remove the camera sensor from the board and connect it via a cable to the board again? Or is it possible to connect small board with camera sensor to the other board via an extension cable and where to buy it? Thanks in advance!

Came here in the hopes that it would show what ICs were used, a little be more on the design of the circuit.

Great video. Is there a way to stop the clicking sound that happens every time the camera senses something or switches to night vision? It's a really annoying sound.

I would like to buy one and add a very loud speaker to it. I want to use it to make announcements remotely over the app to my self serve carwash customers. Do you know if that could work by hooking the speaker cables to a powered horn? Thanks.

I have the later model "GEN2" and could not get the back off. Also, I was unable to fathom why the external doorbell connectors will not ring my existing door chimes. So frankly the Ring Gen2 sound and message to my mobile is an insufficient alert to notify visitors calling. Furthermore the Ring APP config has three user settings to adjust the electrical characteristics of the external door bell connectors. Yea! I am regretting having fitted it.

Why would you want to turn off the red lights which are night vision lights? That's so if it is dark out you can see the person who is trying to break into your house or steal something. Why the heck would you want to do that? And I agree with one of the comments that why not just cover them with black tape? It's really stupid to take it apart and disturb all of the delicate parts inside. Why would you waste money possibly breaking it? Don't try this at home!!

I have got free ring wired on offer. However I have no way of wiring on the outside. I tried connecting 9V standard alkaline battery on the doorbell and it works. I though that I would need higher Voltage, but it works. My only question is could this setup cause the battery to vent is there any protection on the circuit? Thank you
