There are several "shark diving" and "cage" tour companies that take people offshore 1 mile to swim the with sharks. Spear fishers are having the same issues here in Australia. The shark cage tourism has trained the great whites to follow boats and associate them with food. So now everyone that uses boats in the area are at risk.
Ok bro but the truth is Orcas protect their natural Feeding zone ( BIG TUNAS). Some orcas was attacked with arpons by fishermans. Sorry my english is bad Im spanish
This is only happening in this region outside Gibraltar. Orca learn this behavior and it normally starts as a response to some event. It seems logical to assume that one of the local pods had contact with the rudder of a sailboat that resulted in some traumatic event. Maybe a calf was struck and killed or even a matriarch. Such an event would have been traumatic. It is even possible that a young calf could have been hung up and dragged along by a sailboat for some time. In any event; as a result they have started treating these appendages on passing sailboats as threats and try to break them off. They are not attacking the people or any other part of the boat so the root cause is clear.
@@travel_sim We do know that orca tend to use hunting techniques common to regional pods and rarely adopt new ones. This is thought to be because it is a learned behavior taught to new pod members. They have been seen teaching juvenile orca how to use hunting techniques. This is also why it is hard on Orca populations when their normal food supply is depleted as they don't have a ready source of new food to switch to because they have always hunted a select regional diet, fish, mammals, (other)dolphins, etc and have not learned techniques for hunting other food sources in their region. Some pods can hunt many different food types but these tend to be ocean pods that encounter a larger variety. In my region they stick primarily to salmon and other fish. Even seals and sea lions are a rare snack for them (unfortunate because this would help the salmon population). The decline in local salmon populations, mostly due to neglect of salmon streams and over development, has led to an endangered species designation for them in the Puget Sound region (NW USA).
@@socket_error1000 maybe hunting, but still doesn't feel right, why don't they finish the hunt🤔and something it seems to me that the current cardboard boats are not a big problem for them.
@@travel_sim I was using the hunting techniques to demonstrate that they teach these behaviors to each other and they can become generational behaviors within the pod. I don't think they are hunting the sailboats but simply treating the rudder itself as a threat because of some past negative encounter with a sailboat rudder. Sailboat rudders are typically long and strait, unlike the more square shape normally seen on a propellor driven boat. They would be easily discerned and the sailboat rudders are what are being targeted in these attacks. Even in the one that sank it was because of the damage to the rudder and leaks caused there that led to the loss of the vessel. It should be noted that there are no reports of them attacking the keel of the sailboats either, a much larger and more prominent feature. This makes it less likely this is just playful hooligan behavior of juvenile orca, as some have suggested, as they are not randomly targeting different areas of the boats nor any variety of boats. If these were random attacks I think we would have cases where sport fishermen and pleasure boaters would be reporting hostile encounters with orca when adrift in these waters.
ID curious to find out if every single one of these boats that keep getting attacked by orcas are using a certain type of depth sonar or the same brand of depth sonar. I'm wondering if there's equipment that's putting out a certain frequency thats driving the orcas crazy.
@@HRkapitan A Salmon? ... or a Chihuahua. No sorry, that last one would just be me, in my dream, throwing the neighbour’s Chihuahua overboard for peeing on my ankle during the day.
@@HRkapitan what? how would an Orca know what food you have? but yes, sardines would be perfect . its the fact that they are waiting for food. not that deep or complicated.
@@ct1762 They aren't waiting to be thrown food, these orcas have a specific diet and they are perfectly capable of getting it for themselves. The sound of the engines are irritating them in some way. In the video they were told to shut off the engines and wait. After a few hours the orcas left, then when they turned their engine back on , the orcas returned.
It's one thing to have sharks around you, but a complete different and more frightening thing when you have highly intelligent killers circling your boat.
For instances like this, they should equip a hydrophone beneath the hull that can be activated to create an unpleasant frequency when this sort of thing occurs. Harmless to the animals and saves damage to the boat, not to mention people's lives. It was only a few months ago that orcas attacked a monohull and everyone on board was killed. Simply floating there, playing dead, and hoping they don't sink the boat isn't really good enough. This is happening way too often not to take some sort of creative action to deter the orcas from pursuing this behavior. Thus far, I think the hydrophone would be the best possible idea.
Hydrophones receive - they do not transmit. You mean some kind of [expensive !] sonar. Sonar has never deterrred any whale or similar form approaching sea going vessels. Orcas are curious animals and they are interacting with somehing in their space ....;and I for one would have been very concerned if I had been on that boat....big powerful fish vs manmade structure in deep water....some experts think the Orcas are wanting the engines to turn the props so they can "enjoy" the prop wash...might be tru and it might not but either way - not an enjoyable encounter.
@@brendanukveteran2360 The answer might be an LRAD system fitted for underwater propagation. LRAD are extremely uncomfortable for human ears because the volume is intense. They fixed LRADS on ships being attacked by pirates so that they could broadcast intense noise at a distance. It seems that the Orcas are focusing on the rudders and the centerboards, so it might be necessary to have removable boards fitted.
Curious to know how their behavior changed, if at all, when you turned off the engine/electronics and their behavior when they returned after you restarted the engine? Did you notice a change in where they were hitting the cat, if more hit the boat at one time or how often they hit and where? I look forward to your reply.
The Orca in that area have a history of this, they've sent many sailboats in for repairs and have sunk a few. And they are actively teaching this behavior to the calves. It's been going on for years and is getting worse, no sign the Orca are getting bored of it yet.
Humans follow them to take the fishes they’re supposed to hunt, and attack them if orcas try to get some from those fishing companies, so they have to do what they have to do. These pots are close to extinction already.
They sunk reportedly two boats, one of the boats with structural damage before even the incident with the orcas happened. There was never an “attack” as what marine biologists would account as attack on any boat. This are interactions that unfortunately cause damages to the boats and more unfortunately two to sink. But no human life lost yet. I’m myself a sailor and I have to say that I don’t understand sailors still using this passages solo and not in convoys. The orcas only interact with single boats, not with convoys or more than two boats. I know it’s not completely unavoidable to use this area but at least don’t attend the passage with a single boat. There are also measures that keep the orcas of the boat like towing a dinghy behind and the orcas plat normally with the dinghy instead of the sailboat. A real attack would be that the orcas would jump onto the deck to damage the structure and to sink it in like they do with whales. Sadly no one knows if this interactions are intentionally or just out of curiosity or training of the calves. Also is a decline in whales being observed in this area, might be a reason why orcas use sailboats as substitution or it’s even a revenge for us fishing their food away (which I personally doubt because they would attack most likely the fishing boats and not sail boats). Also I hope that people don’t start reacting violent towards the orcas by using fireworks, guns or even pouring diesel or engine oil into the sea. To make a pod of orcas angry won’t end up well for the boat and crew though. We normally see only 1/3 of the entire pod, mostly one or two adults and the calves, the pod is most likely three times bigger as what we see, when they get angry and really try to sink a boat it will happen for sure. I doubt that (expect maybe a steel or aluminium yacht) will be able to withstand a hit of a jumping orca. This would mean a hit of 6 tons punctual onto the hull, I doubt that the structural integrity will withstand this force, which would cause the boat to break apart and sink, but even if it would withstand this punctual force, it would definitely flood the boat by sinking it in and the boat, because most likely the doors might be open will take on water which will also result in sinking the boat… each way the outcome of a real attack would be devastating for the boat and crew…
Some of the Orcas in this region have a history of being part of the U.S. Navy U.S. Navy Marine Mammal Program (NMMP), target identification, search for drifting divers and neutralization of nautical vectors... a few decades ago, killer whales of the MK xx series did not return to their enclosure, including one positioned off Morocco. they transfer their "gains" to other lineages and to young people.
that’s what I thought, maybe something like a sonar you can drop into the water which emits a frequency that they don’t like, as long as it doesn’t make them worse that is !
Obviously the Coast guard should arm up with a large calibre rifle and firei if neceassary ....Once they become emboldened this could become a serious life threatenin problem....nip it in the bud. Its like the croc problem in Aussie....they USED to move away rapidly now theyre taking lives every year in some gruesome incidents too.
I was doing my RYA Yachtmaster in Marbella, Spain in 2021 and we took several voyages through the straights. The first time we heard a mayday for an orca attack just 5 NM from our position. We saw them get helicoptered off their small sailboat. The next trip a month later we were in La Liñea and SEVEN cats were in the marina for rudder repairs. As we departed, a family monohull was getting ready to head north as we were heading east back into the Med. As they were checking out, they were asking the marina about attacks. Sure enough, we heard their mayday over the radio less than an hour later. This has been going on for years, but it was very common during that time.
Great to hear from the horses mouth ,very much apprieciated to hear the reality.make sure its all well documented too as its great info as ur there to witness it,gotta love fresh info 😘
Does anyone know or have Theory on why they do this? I'm very intrigued to understand. Do they want to eat the humans? Do they view them as a threat? They're irritated by the sound of the engine frequency it's putting off? Maybe the engine scares away their prey?
@@BostonsF1nest I wonder if it's because they get fed. There are zero acts of aggression recorded between human ls and Orcas in the wild. And the encounters happen on a daily basis all around the world. No doubt that they'd scan whoever fell in the water and identify them. Seems they either want attention, have been fed from boats or aren't aware of the humans. Mostly at night right?
Were you sailing or anchored?? I had an ENCOUNTER a few weeks ago off the coast of Finistere in the Galacia region of Spain. After several proactive maneuvers and maintaining enough situational awareness to get the whale off my rudder, this was all it took to disengage their interest and they moved on. You are sitting there, frozen, with your phone out, and allowing them to do what they want, like a cat playing with a toy, they will take advantage of the situation and play around until they damage something. Let's be clear; these are ENCOUNTERS not attacks. If they were attacks a lot more boats would be sunk and possible lives lost.
Orcas are highly intelligent creatures. The Mediterranean Sea is basically empty due to overfishing at this point, and Orcas are intelligent enough to realize HUMANS are to blame. They're starving, and they know exactly why. They seem to attack the boats particularly when the engines are on, as moving boats are a threat to their food. As we destroy our oceans, the intelligent species that live within it aren't going to play nice anymore.
Yes and they are teaching their young to do it. One theory is that they know humans are to blame for the lack of fish in the area so they are seeking revenge
@@bargepoled why should such a bright animal attack sailing boats which doesn't fish? If they're starving wouldn't they seek other hunting grounds instead of wasting energy on sailing vessels, which they have no interest in after sinking? More likely a new sort of entertainment, like playing baseball with seals without eating them.
So starting engines is NOT allowed? I would think the engine/prop would keep them away from the rudder. Moving the boat would not stop them??? You would think it would...
@@Arthurskipper It doesn't make any sense, if the boat is moving or not, rudder damage can be fatal to a boat ... I'd rather be moving under sail, hope to be clearing their location.
I think other things are needed. Maybe Flares, Smokes, or 10 liters of red water color to imitate a lot of blood or a very loud military grade sonar. If nothing helps, harpunes or firearms.
Orcas, in the Straight of Gibraltar, have been attacking and sinking boats for over a year (2022-2023). It's thought possibly over competition for fish with fishing vessels operating in the straight.
Then why don't they attack fishing vessels? They are bright enough to notice the obvious differences between such vessels and how they act in open sea. No sailing boats are busy fishing like stationary fishing boats ...
@@OmmerSyssel they have, though smaller ones. They're large brained, intelligent mammals - they're not going to attack something they can't successfully dominate. Similar to their experience in nature, they coordinate attacks on species where they've a clear advantage, whether by size, speed, health, or circumstance. Orcas generally avoid other species that pose a serious threat i.e the male sperm whale or pilot whale, unless those whales are sick/injured. So, likewise, orcas coordinate attacks on smaller sea vessels whom they 1) see as a threat and 2) likely can dominate. Orcas, in the Straight of Gibraltar , are the only orcas throughout the world to be documented attacks a sea vessel. It's a completely isolated phenomenon.
Whales have been attacking boats for many centuries. There's no reason necessary. They are just oceanic pests that are aggressive and "territorial" (water version).
@@OmmerSyssel You are giving it way to much credit. It's a fucking animal after all. They are smart, but to say they know the difference between a fishing boat and a normal one is rather optimistic.
That behavior is clearly not a "playing" type of behavior. They are not hunting but there's something that they don't like in certain boats maybe the sound of some propulsion motors but they are not playing for sure.
Back when the military was testing new sonar technology off the waters of Kauai, Hawaii I was on the cliffs above Shipwreck's Beach for the sunset when me and my friends witnessed something I've never heard of before. From our vantage point we had a pretty clear view of the entire horizon of ocean, The Humback Whales, The Orca's, and The Dolphins were everywhere you looked and behaving strangely. Everything seemed to be jumping out of the water as often as possible like they were trying to escape the sonar or something, then some of the Humpbacks started positioning themselves head facing towards the ocean floor with their tails above water and would violently smack their tails against the water surface 20-30 times per session. Then the sky started doing it's sunset thing and changing colors while all these ocean animals everywhere you looked continued to jump consistently as the Ocean surface reflected the sunset colors but broken up by the splashing, as it got dark a Comet came through the atmosphere and flared up into a big fireball in the dusky sky before disappearing almost instantly with the Ocean animals still jumping everywhere. Only me and one other member of the group saw the Comet at the end before we left but we all left in complete awe of what we just saw. My theory ever since has been related to the military sonar testing happening during that time, doesn't surprise me if there's some anger towards boats by whale populations.
knowing this i would turn of all electrics to see what happens.. (also, dive in and make friends 😃), they seem to be curious young females, they are not attacking, just checking the seaworthiness of the ship 😊
@@John_Doe.... All of our phones were dead from camping at Polihale Beach over the weekend so all the electronics of ours were already dead (otherwise we'd have video 100%). Trust me though you would not have jumped in, the amount of action in the water made it look pretty likely you might get landed on by a heavy animal freaking out.
It's only a few of the pod taking part and it seems to me these are not being very aggressive. It could be your hulls and rudders make for a great "aquatic back scratcher". If they were truly attacking they would be ramming you quite a bit faster than they are moving here, and those gentle bumps would be a hell of a lot more traumatic.
If you are the one on the boat I'm sure it would appear to be an attack. My neighbor's cat plays aggressively according to them, but my bleeding shin is proof of an attack.
I f it is a more serious attack, i would recommend something else: detonating Birdbangers (Pyroknallpatronen, Umarex, P1, Blitzkartusche), shot by a flare pistol into the water. They detonate in the water after a few seconds swimming and do no harm to the animals beside of the loud bang. There have been live threating attacks. I believe they learned that those boats are evil, because of an accident with an orca baby and a boat. The problem is, that aggressive behaviour is learned by the others, meanwhile.
I agree! They’re one of the ocean’s top predators and if they wanted they’d have done way more damage! Why are they filming over the side of the boat when they’ve been specifically told not to?
I think to remember an incident, many years ago, where a sailboat got attacked by orcas and the man abord sailed in a rescue raft for about a month before being saved?
I am relieved that only your toe was injured and that the animals were also ok. I have seen a few videos of these kinds of events with Orcas recently. So many animals play and train. I suspect if your boat was unoccupied, they will have played with it nonetheless. Fascinating behaviour. Thank you for recording it. I was so afraid for you in that moment, it must have been so scary.
Nothing scary about this. These are gentle creatures. I would put my baby directly into the waters and would trust that nothing would happen. People are so ignorant.

The Robertson family was sunk by orcas in 1972. His story doesn't focus on the orcas, but this is one example that this isn't new. If this is a learned behavior, it could be its been passed to more generations than we think. Have the recent accounts mentioned if their motor was on at the time of the attack, or does it matter?
They only attacks when motors are off. Orcas knows that a turning screw is not fun. Last theory is it 8s fun for them, so playing rather than attacking. If 15 orcas wanted to sink this boat, not sure it will take very long.

They might need help. I saw one clip that they stop the boat and then the boat follow them to see one of them being tangle with string net. And a guy on the boat cut it to free the one.
I've sailed the coast of Alaska for months at a time for 20+ years. I've had several Orcas come very close to my boat on many occasions but I've never had one actually make contact with it. Up here in the summer the Orcas are more interested in feeding on schools of salmon than messing with boats unless your a commercial fisherman with a net full of Salmon.. I think these Orcas in the Straits of Gibraltar are bored and have created a new game. Sail Boat Tipping. 🙂 Maybe if you fired off an air horn or even an air cannon under water that would drive them off. Good Luck
If this had been an actual attack there would be no doubt about it. You would know right away. Curiosity from a marine animal this big will do some damage...but a actual attack would disassemble your craft pretty quick
In Portugal many sailing boats have been damaged, two were sunked. Orcas destroy the rudders, boats loose control. It is a sad situation, that has a strong impact in the pleasure of sailing. When you sail along the Portuguese coast, you never know when they are coming. There is some fear. For the damage, for loosing control, and for the life threatening. As I said two sailing vessels sunked..
According to the presented study’s the orcas behaviour is trained due to fishermen. Apparently they where fishing here and orcas waited for the fish to be hauled up to their depths to catch some fish. Now the sea is empty and orcas don’t have any thing to feed on. So now they nock on the door of any vessel.
@@SledPemberton I was on a commercial fishing vessel. Because of quotas and restrictions on the kind of fish we were allowed to catch we were throwing back a continual stream of around half a tonne of "by catch" every net haul. Nice to know you're all safe - at least from the orcas. Take care of that toe! 4 hours is certainly the longest attack I've ever heard about. I saw a video where a skipper said they did this, which is not recommended, to escape from what could've been an attack: engaged reverse and kept moving backwards. The logic, according to him, is that orcas get confused because whales don't go backwards or with their "fins in front of their heads". He said he did this because 1 - he saw them coming, 2 - already had the engines on, and 3 - acted BEFORE the orcas got close. Should they have come unseen, or hit the hull, he would've followed the usual procedures - the ones mentioned on this video. He heard of this reverse procedure from a skipper friend who did it, also on a cat. Would I do it? No. Am I suggesting you do it? No way! If this maneuver hurts one of them they might go crazy and one'll certainly be in more trouble than replacing a rudder. ALWAYS have in mind that orcas are one of the most intelligent creatures on this planet. Their attack strategies are very impressive by ANY standards. They have NO predators, so they are fearless. And, finally, if they really wanted to sink boats, they would already have sunk most they attacked. They're teaching the younger generations to attack whales, probably. The population of whales has been growing for the last 20 something years, if I'm not wrong. Tunas are becoming scarce thanks to commercial fishing. So, it seems, they're on an intensive training for a change in their menu. While they're not ready for whales, they go for rudders, which are not as tasty but are safer as a training practice, specially for the younger ones. The bill's on us. Hope the next generations of this group of orcas are already born with whale hunting on their DNA. It is, still, the only group in the world that attacks boats.
All they have to do is drop seal bombs overboard and they will scatter, that technique has worked since at least the late 70s. it doesn't hurt them but they give up pretty quick and move along. If more sailors would do that they would stop attacking. They are fairly intelligent animals and learn pretty quick.
You need an ATF permit to posses any fused rope explosives like a Seal Bomb. Other countries may deny access if you have these onboard. I agree it's a good solution.
They're teaching the young how to attack whales... the rudders of sail boats in many ways are similar shape to whale flappers (side fins). And disable the whale in much the same way as disabling a sailboat. The demise, or lack of prevalence, of whales in the region means the training gets done on boats instead. There is another sailing channel called Sailing Thula, where in a recent video you can see them sailing from the Azores to Nth France and crossing what can only be described as a "Whale motorway", or migration route. I'd bet good money that Orca train their young on boats in the Gib to Nth Spain stretch before nipping north to munch on the migrating whales. An adult orca could tear a sailboat to pieces in seconds if it so wanted, so even though its an expensive episode for the boat owners, it's not really a vicious attack. Convoy sailing may well be the way to go in that region, or maybe someone can invent an ultrasound device to lure the pesky chompers away from the boats. Who knows what the solution is...
Orcas have learned how to eat the catch of long line fishermen off Alaska. The US allows them to use sonic devices attached to lines to repel them. The Government of Spain does not. Most of what I have read says these are young whales having fun. Probably only belonging to one pod.

No. They are just bored. Wise up and stop virtue signaling.
ID curious to find out if every single one of these boats that keep getting attacked by orcas are using a certain type of depth sonar or the same brand of depth sonar. I'm wondering if there's equipment that's putting out a certain frequency thats driving the orcas crazy.
nah. its all basically one of 4 frequencies. its just food. they are trying to get people to throw them food. not that difficult to figure out.
@@ct1762 What food would you give them, a can of sardines from the fridge, maybe a banana or an apple
That's another reason why I love my steel boat.
Maybe they are bored with the people loitering on their sea.
Can we shoot them if my family is under attack?
couldn't some form of radio frequency that orca find very unpleasant but not damaging be transmitted out from the hull to send them away?
Yes, Frequency 7.62
that’s what I thought, maybe something like a sonar you can drop into the water which emits a frequency that they don’t like, as long as it doesn’t make them worse that is !

As we departed, a family monohull was getting ready to head north as we were heading east back into the Med. As they were checking out, they were asking the marina about attacks. Orcas, in the Straight of Gibraltar, have been attacking and sinking boats for over a year (2022-2023). It's thought possibly over competition for fish with fishing vessels operating in the straight.

They have no predators.... Sperm Whale has entered the chat.
You need an ATF permit to posses any fused rope explosives like a Seal Bomb. Other countries may deny access if you have these onboard. I agree it's a good solution.
@@thinkcasting3182 what about powerheads on long sticks if they get too close
@@hoosierpete best solution I’ve heard yet ! Saves your boat but doesn’t hurt them 👍
If you shot one would the lot of them become distracted by sharks?
I think an M 80 or two in the water will get them to move along pretty quickly
Exactly what I was thinking.
why didn't you just harpoon one... teach it a lesson...
luv it , was thinking the same, it will stop that behavior pretty quick
Until one leaves the water and belly flops on to your Boat
I’m not sitting on my boat while a monster eats it. Shut the camera off do what ya gotta do
Did you try turning off your depth sounder?
Who knows what the solution is...
the only correct answer is only 5 likes, damn humans are really stupid.
An interesting theory but l doubt it to be correct.
@@johntchb If you could avoid liking yourself like a big ass**ole that would be good.
And argue that you have the right answer !
Maybe.
Orcas have learned how to eat the catch of long line fishermen off Alaska. The US allows them to use sonic devices attached to lines to repel them. The Government of Spain does not. Most of what I have read says these are young whales having fun. Probably only belonging to one pod.
You are correct most likely a nice training tool for Orcas.
Wonder if anyone has tried high intensity lighting or loud noise.
Not sure… but plenty of people have tried abuse and captivity and whaling.
They have already sunk 2 sailboats On the coast of Portugal... 😮😮
anyone die? they have insurance? competent sailers? have the proper repair materials for offshore sailing & know how? appropriate offshore boat? Sailing is not mall shopping, there are risks, still pirates too. *Ships hitting whales have killed at least 12 in Canada this year & injured many more...
@@whistlerlife7180 Not much repair work too be done when a whale swims off with your rudder and leaves a gaping hole in your boat.
@@whistlerlife7180 it's not a question of competences or adequate behaviour. These vessels are not constructed for attacking creatures ...
@@Mach1Greeble read 'Nigel Calders repairs at sea' lots that could be done if you are prepared & understand there are many possible risks in offshore sailing. Some boats are inherently weaker/lighter in design/construction and are easier to damage & harder to repair ie spade rudders, bolt on keels, balsa cored hulls etc
@@OmmerSyssel Yes I agree, as the owner of a 49' 24 ton Colin Archer for 26 year, out board rudder on Gudgeon/pintles (no hole in hull for steering tube), encapsulated ballast in the solid hull, I would feel more secure, from deadheads, semi- submerged objects ie containers, groundings etc as well. I would also try to alter course to avoid any hazard that might sink or endanger my crew & boat; hurricanes, pirates, poorly charted reefs/shallow water, Icebergs, the Sargasso sea....
I know it would be highly illegal but what if the crew shot one of them.? Would it scare them away or turn them into an attacking frenzy.?
For the safety of all other pods of orcas that have nothing to do with this accidents, they should be identified and taken care of. We should develope immediately a deturant for this behavior, before they claim a victim and have no other option.
Scary and cool all the same time
Now the nightmare will be to fix the boat in tanger. Good luck and lots of patience
No sensible German would be that naive... 💰🐖💰
I know all about it, I am a Moroccan and soremar are amateurs.
Nothing that a harpoon couldn't solve.
Wie aufregend und wunderschö zu sehen in Freiheit und in ihrer Welt wo sie hingehören.Love them!!
they should be culled
@@OmmerSyssel Was meinst du?
Any guess why? And what might this mean into the future?
There's a reason they're called killer whales and not ocean ponies...
Thanks, Ron!
By the comments descriptions, I think they're disgruntled ocean unicorns.
'Whale Killers' actually, it's a meaning lost in translation.
Wow - have you any damage from orcas ?
Attacked by orcas not really, you were just being dramatic. Looks like they were just curious. You have to remember you’re in their ocean not yours. If they wanted to attack, they could easily sync that catamaran under five minutes.
Does this boat not have motor power?
Yes it does
Orcas have been attacking sailboats in the east of the Atlantic Ocean, from Galicia to marroco. This issue is under investigation but, by the time nobody have an answer. The hipotesis about the behavior sugest a play or a training for teach the hatchlings how to hunt.
La respuesta es simple, quieren hundir la embarcación y comerse a las personas a bordo. Atacan al igual que a una ballena, no es que practiquen, están directamente atacandote como a ellas.
They are playing and need to be " deterred " from this behaviour. My friends off Portugal shot flares at them and they left quickly.
Moby Dick was written in 1850. Fishermen know this has been happening for many centuries.
@@NomadSurvivor I think this issue will be solved eventually by sailors using politically incorrect measures.
@@jackfntwist Is that actually based on a real story tho? The bible was also created along time ago, but all that shit is fantasy.
That’s what i do when i hear some sounds. Could your motor be making them agitated.
They only attack lagoons as they have figured out how cheaply they are built….🤣
Orcas hate defective bulkheads and poor quality 👍
I believe it's the flavor of the gel coat.
Nice, the orcas have realised their biggest threat is from humans on boats so now theyre doing something about it! Maybe they are looking for a baby human to steal and put in a tank at their new underwater attraction called "land world"😂
No weapons on board?
