In late 2009 a successful campaign was launched by Jon Morter and his then wife Tracy to promote an alternative to the omnipresent X-Factor winner being the Christmas #1 in the UK singles chart. The track they nominated as the alternative was “Killing In The Name” by Rage Against The Machine. The band supported the campaign, donated the proceeds from the sales to charity and lead singer Zack de la Rocha promised that Rage Against The Machine would perform a free concert in the UK to celebrate the achievement. This went ahead in London’s Finsbury Park on 6th June 2010 and is captured on this film. It is an exuberant performance by the band with the audience cheering them all the way to the inevitable climax of “Killing In The Name”.

Screaming “fuck you, I won’t do what ya tell me” alongside thousands of people must be one of the greatest fucking feelings ever
Right???
Keeping me sane
I had that privilege during their show in 2008.
You mean in their country where they actually have to do what their told? Just saying. A concert is like this is probably an escape for them.
@Certinho What are you talking about?
You know you've created a masterpiece when the crowd sings even the freaking bassline.
That's just the uk for you, we sing any part of a song
Whops
@@anotherstorm2061 lmaoo
YES
in argentina we sing along every riff of every song.
The way zack looked at the crowd when they all said “killing in the name of” you can tell he got so many chills and was like “ I missed this”
@buffminer5827 the fuck you mean really. You can see it in his face. He is elated, the idea thst after all these years a crowd of 40000 would still know the words to his songs is awesome.
Same thing when the lights came back on and let the crowd scream "Fuck You, I won't do what you tell me" the look on his face was so pure.
I think he was being sarcastic you twat
@@protege1717
Zach deserves the joy of knowing how hard their message has landed, even decades later. Love the smile on his face.
"Fuck you I won't do what you tell me"...my favorite line.
ua-cam.com/video/IkhzmZePMTw/v-deo.html
Close your eyes and count by Run the Jewels has similar type of message and power, the live version has Zack come out and perform with them.
This band is so needed right now
Joshua Pinkham agreed
Agreed
Screw Covid-19! Bring on Killing in The Name Of...!!!
RIP Mr. Floyd
IKR
I was playing Bulls On Parade while protesting in Chicago last night from a speaker in my backpack
I love how you can hear the crowd go "duh duh duh DUH DUH DUH" along with the bass at 0:15
That's the best part of the song
Yes badass!
Top !!!!!!!
na naski language DUH mean GHOST- you host someoneaessess t-here
Of course, this is in the UK we do that to every song that has a decent bass bit
I listened to Rage at 17 yrs old and still do at 44. I thought I was angry then and now I realize what I was actually listening to- I might be even angrier now. It was prophetic. Haunting.
Haha you realized the anger wasnt misplaced... like "yeah looking back it makes sense!"
Same I'm 44 and still love and listen
Seeing that many people moving together like that gives me chills every damn time. I miss live music so much
I am getting depressed. I missed Richie Kotzen twice. 🤞🏼😓
Never seen zack this happy on stage and this is a free show.
He's seeing 80 thousand people singing along to his song and rocking like crazy, to a song he probably wrote many moons ago , I think that'd put a smile on anyones face.
What he sais it's pure Marxism, not the evil people have been brainwashed to believe, but a song of liberation from social dominance by the "Elected".
@@RicardoMartinez-jy5lo Yeah!! ""Lets be dominated by the un-elected!!!""Peasant ideology unfit for the West..., as it's proved

RATM First gig
it's because of pubLik.........by the way, there's a catch ...... ae puzzle.......
That's such a Beautiful Christmas song.
lmao
Probably the best ever I reckon
How come I never get to hear it sandwiched somewhere between the queen's speech and Mariah Carey at Christmas????
😐😭
Be sure I'm humming it while placing the red star on the top of the Christmas tree :)

When everyone shouted KILLING IN THE NAME OFFFF sent chills down my spine
The look on his face at 4:37 is just beautiful. Man knows just how much that crowd loves them.
It’s almost a face of relief, like everything is gonna be okay because of this movement but it’s so beautiful love ratm so much
RATM reunion was gonna be so powerfull that mother nature said 'NO' and released the forbidden bat
HAHAHHAHAHAHAAHHA

Nah. She wanted to build up anticipation. That's why its moved 2021 now haha
If you believe tha bat shit, you don’t serve the RATM Reunion.
Yo listen to me and delete this comment already.
The part where he just holds his middle fingers up and the entire crowd says that part for him. Absolutely magical. Wish I could hit a live show with all of you right now!
1 bass player, 1 guitarist, 1 drummer and 1 hell of a singer
= One Hell Of A Band !!!
This song should be played as loud as possible at every protest right now.
Yah it should!!
Nah, Bulls on Parade, its just a more protesty song imo, you hear that coming over the horizon you just know to fucking RUN
The Communist Fly fair point 😁
they need to perform it in D.C. rn that would be wild
@@markstetzer5899
I'm hoping against hope, what with the virus still out there, for them to do a free show on the Mall in DC sometime this fall. Bunker Bitch would tunnel all the way to China.
It is crazy how much Zac's voice hasn't changed that much. He still sounds great.
t baskerville it's gone bettet

He used to sing higher notes but well, age isn't easy for anyone

Nothing will ever beat the original rage against The Machine killing in The name love them
It has got to be one of the best feelings having a crowd that large chant your lyrics

Zach just lives, breathes, and bleeds that "Fuck you I won't do what you told me" energy
Just imagine Zak letting this anthem rip at the protests. People would literally go crazy
@@CrummyVCR no we're not. It's not crazy enough. Until SERIOUS CHANGE take place thing will escalate. And they have to.
Do it!!!!!
This song was released 28 years ago and the lyrics and situation they represent are still a huge problem. Music can move us, bring us together. We need more RATM
True
Because 28 years ago a black guy was murdered by the police and L.A was burning for days maybe weeks, don't remember i was a kid back then
Yeah it's the same message regardless of who is in office they sound pretty libertarian to me they want LESS government control and people to be aware when they are being manipulated.
@@AnnaLVajda they are not libertarian. they are most decidedly socialist.
@Henzo88 Why too bad? Saves us from following them down the path of our destruction! NOBODY is more fake than this band!
its insane to think that people who didnt grow up with RATM will never know the cultural impact of this band yet the music is timeless but to be a fan during their hey day was unlike anything ive experienced since.
+Duke Gibo Pistol-Grip Pump on my lap at all times
True man, so true...
Goes basically for every other given band, which can make a crowd explode in an instant. It's so pathetic nowadays.

After how many years apart and they still have a crowd that big?! Goes to show how loved they are still to this day
No matter how old these guys gets they still rock the show like a pro.
You have to love the self aware nature of the crowd chanting "now you do what they told ya" and Derocha chanting "now you're under control" Brilliant
I literally bought a plane ticket to Texas, applied for a visa, bought the ticket and started waiting. You're all crying because It's cancelled but I'M FROM TURKEY DUDE. I'M THOUSANDS OF MILES AWAY. I WAS READY GOD DAMN IT.
Omg I'm sorry to hear that that really does suck. But for sure you'll get the chance to see em im sure they're disappointed they didn't get to play for anyone.

This is what a crowd should always look like, not this new generation of ppl with cellphones in their hands. Kudos UK fans.
search ac/dc at river plate
yes omg yes that was the best crowd, metallica's crowd is bigger than ac dc
Flad Dalf argentinians are crazy football supporters. Since this gig was played in River Plate FC stadium, no wonder is like a gameday. Every single show in Argentina is kinda like this. They are nuts (in a good way).
There are still crowds that really get into it in certain places, just really depends on where you are, I live in the Uk and have been to a fair few rock/metal shows and while there have always been phones, i've never been in a crowd that has stood completely still
Eugenio Vieira i'm argentinian :)
Idk why but Zack's hop at 1:21 has to be the coolest thing the way his arms move with the higher pitch note is just so good
Saw RATM live a few days ago and I cannot get over how much energy the place had when they played this song. It was absolutely electric
The irony is that the crowd is doing exactly what he tells them. Still one of my favorites.
Not exactly
I cannot, at any point in the song, hear Zack tell the crowd what to do...
@bob dunson i lean,it's a song....

And missing Disturbed, System of a Down and Aftershock this year. All my plans got fucked in the ass.
Adam T I had tickets to the same show, second night. And oh God, I was seeing Rammstein in September. I can’t believe I’m going to miss that! And Roger Waters too! At least I saw Tool back in January before the apocalypse really kicked off haha
We just have to wait an extra year. Itll be worth the wait.
I was going to see them at Bluesfest in Ottawa but the entire festival was canceled this year...
Lmao I got it
Hands down the best atmosphere I’ve ever experienced at a show. Great day, amazing support acts and the crowd was phenomenal
Holy shit this concert must have registered on the Richter scale!

Zack is really happy here. Its rare to see him this joyful in public
God damn they don't make them like this no more...they fucking killed it.
0:46 That moment when people sang that line,it just gave me goosebumps.....It felt like the rage rising out of our soul.....
Goosebumps watching and listening to this right here!
Rage against the machine is the best band ever EVER MADE WOO🎉🎉🎉
4:42, nothing makes me happier than seeing a sweaty, grinning zack de la rocha, fro flowing, flipping off a crowd of thousands. Look at the happiness on his face
The “fuck you, I won’t do what you tell me” part gives me chills every fucking time, imagine being Zac and screaming it in front of like 80,000 people that are also screaming it, it’d honestly be the happiest moment in my life
Fuck i still remember the first time i saw them performing like in the 90's, how far these guys went, that's fucking awesome
I swear to god dude this is such a dream of mine to be infront of a crowd of thousands and have them sing the baseline and sing the lyrics for you that would be the greatest moment of my life dude
This really was a wild day. A free concert for those of us who'd downloaded this very song to make it Christmas Number 1 and the atmosphere was just electric throughout. I remember a fair few people scaled the fence to get inside too.

The irony of the crowd yelling “they do what they told ya”. Still the best band of the 90’s
These guys are immortal. I mean look at how many people showed up to this concert to hear songs from almost 20 years ago.
I was there, incredible concert, one of the best rock gigs I've seen in my life (and I've seen 100s). I didn't know much about RATM and I was lucky to get hold of one of the free tickets so I went along. Great atmosphere in the crowd. Amazing energy from the band. Jumped for the entire show even if I didn't know many of the songs. Great satiric cartoon intro. It was one of those rare moments in life when you think there might still be some hope in rock n' roll and in human race. Five years went by, fuck!
Same! Best fln show ever! the place was heaving! Total people power !! I jumped the fence with about 50 other peoples and got all the way to the pit of Doom!!! And survived to tell the tale.
His smile at 48 seconds is him knowing that his lyrical messages have spoken to the people. Long live RATM
Incredible music, I've listened to it for many years and I still feel emotional today...
