I always love your videos man. No fluff - just pleasant, efficient work from a practical perspective. I work a stressful job and these videos are always oddly calming, just good vibes I guess.
Some excellent ideas there. My dad was a great one from things in glass jars and a recall one set up where he screwed the lid to the underside of a shelf and then screwed the jar back on. The top of the shelf was free for boxed items and the previously unused under side of the shelf became extra storage.
You've inspired us to "get cracking" and get things organized! Your shed looks "dreamy" and glam. LOL. Seriously, it is so much less stressful to see spaces we use in a neat orderly state. Thanks for the nudge!
Your bike storage idea is something I can definitely use. When storing ladders outdoors I find mounting them on an angle lets the rain drain off the channels better which prevents corrosion and ice from forming which can be hazardous. I believe many service vehicles mount ladders this way for this very reason. Some police departments recommend padlocking your ladder to prevent them from being used in break in attempts.
Really like the gate build and can't believe it's been four years since you built the shed! Where does the time go? One thought, you may want to get lockable ladder hooks for your ladders, they will stop opportunists using your ladders for breaking into your (or your neighbours) house.
Hi Keith great video as always and its usually the simple ideas that last the longest. Just want to make a point that most fuel based lawn mowers should be stored horizontally rather than vertically as storing vertically can potentially damage the engine unless the fuel and oil has be drained.
I was thinking the same thing. I stored my mower vertically one season and every time is started it up it would burn a lot of oil. Went back to storing it normally and it has no issues.
It's so satisfying sorting your shed isn't it? I've spent a heck of a lot of time sorting mine over the last few months. Kept filling it up further with more and more debris, so cleared all that out (mainly bicycle restoration projects) and I've now rearranged it to a useable workshop space. I love the amount of pottering that can be done within a shed.
Your storage ideas are excellent; I will show this video to my husband and it may (or may not,) inspire him to tidy his two sheds! Lovely gate, looks inviting from the garden side, hopefully not too inviting for Baby Brown! Thanks, Keith, another good one.
Wow. Four years... Time flies. Love the new shed layout. Simple things... Using the ladder to lift the timber while cutting; Why didn't I think of that? You can bet I'll be using that tip in the future instead of looking for 2X4 off cuts.
You gave me some really good ideas. I've been racking my brain for months trying to figure out how to put the bikes out of the way but still in the garage where they're safe.
Now I really like this shed! As a matter of fact I have just done a big shed clean out and built special custom shelves out of reclaimed pallet wood. Got some extra projects lined up such as a folding planting bench, and wood storage. I love the bike hanger but in my case we bike the Austrian Alps a lot so mine would never be in the hooks! :)
Great video Keith. Loved the gate. I know it may not look right, but for the same reason, (run off) it’s best to hang ladders at a slight tilt, especially if your in an area where the water in the channels ices over.
I’ve been a subscriber for a couple years now and i must say, like now i am again amazed of your work and editing style. You’re doing a great job Keith 🙏🏻 I’d love to be a Patreon again but every penny goes into my house renovation at the moment. Keep it up Keith 👊🏻
I loved this video. Showing us how to use scraps or materials you have around to come up with nifty, quick and pretty solutions. Always enjoy your videos
I’m jealous I will check the shed build soon, I plan on buying a new house soon and the one I have now have a huge nice garage for my wood working, but the yard equipment takes up a lot of space
Great timing, for the first time. Putting a short wall perpendicular to the sides opens up a lot more flexibility (like Mr M’s workshop). I have a garage in that configuration and the loss of open plan space is more than compensated for by beeing actually able to have a workshop and garage, rather than a big mess of stuff. I’ve just built a triangular (garden room) shed, and I appreciate the ideas.
Hi Keith, Great job on sorting your shed out and levelling around the back of your shed, good storage set up in the shed. I like your picket styled gate and a nice finish to the wood. As always a great video
Fantastic work as always perfect timing. I'm in the process of organising my double car shed which has become a dumping ground, so much so that my car has been expelled to live outside. I am rebuilding my Ivar shelves to stand on wheels and so become a storage area plus dividing wall between the two halves of the shed. I'll be adding a few brackets to the wall too to store all those garden tools. Not sure what to do with my mower which weighs 50kg and so hanging it vertically is too physically challenging, though I might do it with my 36V Makita mower because it is light enough to lift into position. I always enjoy your videos because they deal with real problems that I too am encountering without whitewashing some of the challenges encountered. Keep it up!
Brilliant video, it makes what you do accessible and relatable to someone like me, who has a stack of carpentry projects I'd like to do, but no idea where to start. Love the channel.
Nice organization porn, very inspiring! I have to say though, I have a truckload of Milwaukee cordless tools and love them, but seeing how much space that red mower takes makes me that much happier to have gone green for my cordless garden tools 😃
Recently found your channel. Very nice. I like all the REAL things. Like things when goes by plan, sometimes talkkng about natural mistakes that occur. Best of luck 🍻
Good video, just one point may come back to bite you in a few years, never ever embed the bottom of a post in cement/concrete, moisture will collect in the post and it will end up rotting off at ground level (yes, even treated posts) the concrete should form a collar around the post with the bottom open so that any moisture that gets into the post from the top can drain out at the bottom. Bugs won't come near it because of the treatment but moisture will cause the timber to rot. The best option is to place some gravel at the bottom of the hole, place the post on top of the gravel, place a small quantity of soil around the post and then place the concrete around the pole the rest of the way up to the top of the hole.
Great video! Any chance you could please clarify why you wouldn't use a wood preserver on the post, but you would apply linseed oil to the gate? (I did watch your wood preserver video btw, it seemed like it doesn't make much of a difference.)
Oil repels moisture from the wood and makes it look nicer, that's about it really... It'll need regular coats every year and won't protect from insects 👍
That's a benefit of battery mowers. You don't have to worry about oil and petrol going in the wrong places if you store upright. Just gotta stop the electrons falling out 😅
I have shed envy - wish I had the space for a workshop and a separate shed! I think one of your next projects should be a DIY pool in that biggish garden of yours :) My favourite YT channel :)
Nice one Keith. Can u answer a question about the drill auger. My garden has alot rock under the soil am wondering how you think it'd cope as your soil your augering out seems quite rock free and loose?? Quick gate build was nice to handy as a need do one myself👍🏴
Just curious, given the tracking pan shots, if you’re using a 360° camera and a face tracking feature or just shooting wide then cropping and tracking? Video quality was great.
I've been watching your videos since around lockdown. My 4 year old and I were watching this video and she says "dad you should "scribe him". I said I am already subscribed she said "you should scribe again he would be happy with that" 😂
Have you had any issues with condensation in your shed, Keith? I've just built my own shed with an EDPM roof. The studs are sheathed with 11mm OSB, waterproof membrane, then battens and 18mm loglap cladding. I don't really want to insulate it, just wondering if this 'double skin' will be enough to prevent condensation.
There's no problem with condensation in a shed like this. It's not heated, so on cold days the temperature inside and outside is the same. It could appear in your shed if you heat it up a bit inside and increase the humidity. But if you heat it up enough, the walls will also get warm and condensation could appear later when it gets cold. I think good ventilation is a better solution than insulation in this case.
@@excalibur9768 Then I guess your shed will be alright. In general, if there is a source of moisture, there also has to be ventilation. Thermal insulation isn’t necessary.

I'm assuming your mower is electric but maybe best to let people know that if their mowers are petrol they shouldn't store it upright like you have as it will mean that petrol and oil can leak into motor into places they shouldn't be leaking into.

This is the most informative video I have seen on yard storage. Great job
Your Milwaukee mower can stand up by itself fold the handle forward and then stand it up on it's back end, you can wheel it around like this too.
I'm obsessive about organizing. This video was awesome! Well done, Keith.

Great work Keith. I did notice a clamp that wasn't red - shock, horror :) Also never knew there was a red brand of mower !

Have you looked at those post savers so the bit in the soil doesn't rot so quickly?
There's no timber in contact with soil
