Fun fact: When Arius was presenting his case for Jesus at the Council of Nicaea, a bishop from Myra in Turkey, went up to his face and slapped him in the face so hard, that he was imprisoned for it, but he was personally set free by Constantine. And that Bishop was St. Nicholas (a.k.a Santa Claus)
Interesting to note Arian's version of Jesus, as well as other unitarians, ie. those who reject the trinity, is close to Islam's view of Jesus, that being Jesus as a man. In the Islamic perspective, Constantine adapted his version of Christianity with Roman beliefs, and then persecuted thereafter Christians who followed other versions of Christianity, such as those of Arian. So, in essence, it is believed that the original form of Christianity is about Jesus being a servant, messenger of God, a messiah, but not God himself.
"So, in essence, it is believed that the original form of Christianity is about Jesus being a servant, messenger of God, a messiah, but not God himself" Based on what sad reasoning did you come up with that conclusion? The Roman version of christianity was the original one and the true one, and everything else every other heresy and every error came after, and where new. Constantine did not adapt annything, he himself was adopted into the one true church.
Right. They cant prove from ist 300 years trinity from any church father. Rather Turtuellian was also not a trinitarian. Origen of Alexendria also was a subordinationist. Polycarp was a binatarian. History is evident. Islam is true wallah.

I've been struggling with this material so much even after reading 15 different mixed sources for my class. Now I finally understand because of this video. Khan academy never misses and is doing such important work thank you.
One thing that creates the paradox, is that on one hand the doctrine is said to be direct from God. But history shows that men debated and developed the doctrine that people follow today.
When I was undergoing my Confirmation as a Catholic schoolboy, we were instructed to memorize the Nicene Creed (Nicene-Constantinian) from memorization. No lessons on what everything means, no teaching of the nuances of WHY we were proclaiming this creed and its history, absolutely nothing. Just complete and outright regurgitation of words we didn't understand and phrases that went over all of our heads
This is why you’re supposed to undergo confirmation when you are able to fully understand the relationship and commitment that you are making. People mature at different ages .

When did trinitarians first come into existence? Were Jesus' companions trinitarians as well? Or did the concept evolve years after that? If the Bible does not clearly indicate a theological doctrine, and can only be concluded through interpretations, why trinitarians consider unitarians wrong? And vice versa? While both have used the Bible to conclude two different views.
@@Halal_Dan Most Christians pray to God the Father invoking the name of God the Son. But sure just because you don't understand the Trinity it must be paganism even though there's nothing pagan about it.
I like this channel but this one is too big to just let slip by. The Arian controversy did not occur in a vacuum. To say that there were multi sects won't help either. Arius (and the subsequent debate, insert 2nd 3rd Oeucumenical Councils) came up with his idea **because of** a controversy that stirred you the church in the 2nd century : Modalism aka Sabellianism aka Monarchianism aka Modal Monarchism, which boils down to this Economic Trinity (Trinity to the world) = Ontological Trinity (Trinity by essence), God has 3 hats: Father hat, Jesus hat, Spirit hat. That heresy was condemned. Now enter Arius. The last thing they wanted to avoid was to be associated with Modalism. Arius, in a sense thought of himself as a "protector" sound doctrine by separating (at all cost) The Father and the Son (again, think Modalism). Hence, he introduced the Creator / Creation divide. And then... Controversy. Again, this channel is great but this is just too big to just let slip by.

Sojourner-wondering and trusting yourself as the sole interpreter of scriptures from a 21st century mindset is a even worst idea . I’d rather trust in Christ’s Church at nicea
if one is the father and the other is the son, then that implies that one of them came first, and the other second. if they are coeternal then they should be twins, not father and son.
What about father is greater than i... And other verses where followers of jesus are 1 with jesus, as in john ch 3. No church father in first 300 years had trinity as faith. It was after 325 years , it was introduced in nicean creed due to political pressure. History is evident.

I'm not sure whether it's right to say 'the majority of those [bishops] there did not like his [Arius'] point of view...' as opposed to those that shouted the loudest got their own way and when once Constantine was swayed, those in attendance were rather quick to acquiesce.
They were the largest unified front. The non-trinitarians outnumbered them but due to not being able to make up their mind and thus not being able to present a united front, they lost the debate. This isn't even getting into the more recent historical evidence showing that Arius and Athanasius were both coming from the same school of thought (Origen) and putting their own spin on things to try and make sense of things, which came about in Arius emphasizing monotheism and the position that God has, while Athanasius emphasized the unique nature of Christ and the position that he has.
@@lamename2010 the vast majority of the bishops were with Arius but Emperor Constantine forced them to accept to the doctrine that Athanasius supported.
@@eliasabourjeily999 They weren't with Arius. They also weren't with Athanasius. Rather they supported slightly different beliefs than either of them (historians nowadays suspect that they were more line with Arius, but that didn't matter in the final outcome), which ended with Athanasius having the largest minority behind him. There are so many ways to interpret the relationship between God and Jesus, that all these minor disagreements would allow the largest minority, which even though vastly outnumbered, would through it's cohesion, be able to browbeat everyone else. And even then it was a compromise position, seeing as historians also nowadays suspect that Athansius himself would not believe in the trinity of today, going but what he himself said elsewhere. (Read "Arianism: Roman Heresy and Barbarian Creed" for more on this)
Can we say that Arius was in total disagreement of the incarnation of Jesus? I think that's why the Nicene Creed was created. It was a matter of debate because they wanted to create the character of Jesus as a idol for worship under one world religion. That's what Arius was in total disagreement about. Remember he was from Alexandria... Egypt where the true essence of where the Christ story was borrowed.
I actually have a feeling that the victory of trinitarianism during the council of nicaea over arianism helped christianity out in the long run, allowing it to position itself as something different to islam. if arianism had won, maybe islam's influence would have been greater over europe, as it's just an expanded form of arianism.
This is where you are confused. Arianism is the true call of the prophets and since the message became corrupted that’s why god had to send Islam. It’s a tragedy for the Christians that they went astray because they will see in the end where this fate lands them
Actually if arianism winned islam wouldnt even existed, thats because Muhammad bellieved that jesus was a prophet, not god, just like the Arians. So by muslim beliefs, Arianism would be the correct form of christianity, and the correct interpretation of god's message and will. By the way, i am not a muslim or christian myself so ive probably said something wrong, please correct any mistake.
@@WILLIAN_1424 of course it would still exist and god still would have sent the Quran because Arianism was not the full truth it still gave Jesus some of gods divine attributes which is blasphemous
John Damascus in fact confirms that Mohammed was an heretic who initially was taught by an Arian priest and that’s why you have Johannine type of statements about Jesus in the Quran which contradict other sections of strict Unitarianism in the Quran. The Trinity won because it’s the best representation of the True God and the hypothetical of Arianism winning it’s impossible as the Spirit guides the church into all truths
We say this in liturgy for orthodox Christians. “light of light , true God” . “The creed” Truth is with the monastic ascetics from the beginning, their wouldn’t be Christianity.
Us Catholics say it too, but our Creed makes clear that the holy spirit comes from the father AND THE SON, which, if I'm not mistaken, is a Latin addition that didn't appear in the Greek

Same arius also exiled Through Constantine for preaching monotheism and Non Trinitarian idea's.Later Arianism develop into islam Through Neighbouring Arabs. I think Arius is Original Mohammad.
No. They’re just Muslims who followed Jesus and refused the trinity. Go and search the letter that prophet Muhammad wrote to the Hercules warning him to not misguide the Arians because the prophet knew that they’re monotheists. Muslim is anyone who submitted to Allah whether he lived in the era of Adam, Abraham, Jesus or Muhammad…
The Father is greater than the Son. But that doesn't mean the Son is lesser nor weaker than the Father. The Father doesn't envy the Son when he is blessed. Instead he appreciates the Son for the glory of the Son is also his glory. No one goes through the Father except through the Son. Everything is done through the Son. In the beginning there is a word. That word was with the Father from the very beginning. All the things that are made in this world was made through the Word.

In short, the Most High has no equals and there are other g_d's too, even the ten Commandments confirm such(not to worship other g_d's). Why would anyone of sound mind follow the doctrine of sun worship and paganism? Proof: All of the holidays and their pagan origins and the idol worshipping.
It is unfortunate that you have misspelled filioque as filoque. And so you have mispronounced it every time. Filius means son when the word is the subject of the sentence. Filio means “by the son”. Que means “and” when the intention is to show that the 2 words go together automatically. Otherwise “and” is written as “et” in Latin.
Because of the linguistical and cultural connection between most Indians and Europeans (there are some exeptions like the Basque and the Finno-Ugrics in Europe and the Tamils in India), the term aryan was borrowed from sanskrit and began to be used by western scolars in the 19th century to refer to basically a"Nordic race". Arius was simply this guys name, according to the last link it's greek and means immortal. en.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aryan wikipedia.org/wiki/Arius www.babynamewizard.com/baby-name/boy/arius
No connection between Arian (follower of Arius) and Aryan, just confusion, given that most followers of Arianism were found in the Germanic tribes they converted very early, and later diffused as conquerors in the collapsing Roman Empire. To add to this confusion, the word Aryan was used by Nazi propaganda.
You mean Aryan, aryan is a synonym of indo-european, the indo-europeans called themselves "aryans" (the equivalent in their language of course), aryans are to europeans what the gauls are to the french, the celts to the irish, etc. The nazis later tainted the name so no one uses it now.
Yes he was logical. But due to the political pressure he with 2 lebanese bishops was left alone and exiled. Trinity was put forward, and not on the scriptural grounds.
The council of Nicaea was a dog and pony show put on by Constantine and those bishops who supported the thesis that the Father and Son are of the same substance, and that the Son and Father are both fully God. Like Ptolemy 1, Constantine was trying to unite an empire under his rule and they both arrived at the same conclusion to use religion to do this. Ptolemy 1 created the man/god Serapis and the Cult of Serapis, while Constantine and those bishops seeking the power and influence of the Emperor created a man/sungod Jesus and the pagan religion of Christianity. Have you ever wondered why only 300 of the 1800 bishops, supposedly invited to the council with all expenses paid, bothered to show up? Did they have something better to do at that time or were the vast majority of bishops not holding the same view as Constantine and those 300 bishops who did show. So only 1/6 of the bishops set the tone for all of Christianity. You have to wonder how many of those 5/6 were excommunicated or wound up dead, or just went along to get along? There's a lot of things that we do not learn about history, because history is written by the victors. In the case of Christianity it is written by those bishops who sought power and the Emperor who gave it to them. No matter how you view it, it goes without question, the religion of Christianity came about through the syncretizing of pagan beliefs and holidays into a Western Philosophy stylized movement, based on the teachings of Jesus and the Old Testament. Over the course of history Christianity canonized it's own New Testament, selecting writings that supported it's doctrines and the dogma it taught.
you are 100% right t was all struggle for power that's why mainstream Christianity is not as holy as it might seems in my opinion, as it was made fit paganism.
None of that is accurate. Research the Creed and the scriptures. All of it comes from the bible. It comes from an Atheist author who has a bias against religion. Look at his biography.
Fact: 1john 5:7-8 Trinity was admittedly invented by Tertullian and forced into the New Testament and Nicaen creed by Constantine at Nicaen council in 325 ce. He burned alive countless "heretics"(Arians and Jews) who rejected this idolatry insertion . He also criminalized Judaism by death penalty for teaching Torah or ordaining rabbi s. In Roman Church archives it shows he killed more people as heretics in roman coliseums than the pagan roman s did. Look up "comma debate,Trinity,Tertullian". שלום
Shayne Fowley with that exact wording you won’t find it there, that’s the language of the ecumenical councils and of the Fathers, but the best places you can go are the gospel of John. Like John 1:1-5, John 17 and other places. And then there are the epistles. Colossians 1:15 and onwards nicely portrays the relation of Son and Father. First epistle of John is also nice. But John 1:1-5 is the basis. Father and his Logos are distinct, but yet they are both the One God. And I am not really sure, but I think the hypostasiis share in divinity but not in substance. If they shared their respective substances, they would be indistinguishable, i.e., Jesus would be praying to himself. But this is scholastic language and that came long after the roman patristic period.

Arius was holding on to the true monotheism and teaching of Jesus that Jesus was not Devine but was just a prophet. Fanatics had to gather later and then accept the idea of Jesus being God. @Joshua S ✝ Ain't sure why are you very selective in choosing your verse to proof Jesus's divinity. There are many evidence across the Bible that Jesus was a prophet who came to proclaim the message of One God. 1. John 14:28 The Father is greater than I. This is another strong statement that makes a distinction between Jesus and God. 2. Matthew 26:39 My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me, yet not as I will, but as Thou will. Jesus’ will is likewise autonomous from God’s Will. Jesus is seeking acquiescence to God’s will. 3. John 5:26 For as the Father has life in Himself, so he has granted the Son to have life in himself. Jesus received his life from God. God received his life from no one. He is eternally self-existent. 4. John 5:30 By myself, I can do nothing: I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who has sent me. Jesus says, “by myself, I can do nothing.” This indicates that Jesus is relying upon his own relationship with God. He is not trying to “please myself” but rather is seeking to “please the one who sent me.” 5. John 5:19 The Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees the Father doing, because whatever the Father does, the Son does also. Jesus declares that he is following a pattern laid down by God. He is expressing obedience to God. 6. Mark 10:18 Why do you call me good? No one is good, except God alone. Here Jesus emphatically makes a distinction between himself and God. 7. Matthew 24:36 No one knows about that day or hour, not even the Son, but the Father only. Here Jesus makes a distinction between what he knows and what the Father knows. 8. Matthew 6:9 Our Father, which art in Heaven. He didn’t pray, Our Father, which art standing right here!” 9. Matthew 27:46 My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me? Inconceivable if he is God the Creator. 10. John 17:21-23 . . .that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. . ..that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. In this prayer Jesus defines the term “to be one.” It is clearly accomplished through the relationship of two autonomous beings. Christian believers are to model their relationship (to become one) after the relationship of God and Christ (as God and Christ are one). Notice that “to be one” does not mean to be “one and the same.”
Everything discussed here is based on the ideas of Isis, Osiris and Horus which the Greeks and Romans translated to God, Jesus, Mary, and eventually the Holy Spirit. Please read the true history of Alkebulan.

It appears to just be a liberal church that is more interested in defining God through looking in the mirror than through looking at scripture. No offense, but that is my impression.
@@blusheep2 oh I hate those liberal churches. I follow no church, call no man my father, no master before my God. There are "Unitarian" Churches that are actually universalist, they just use the name Unitarian. I just try to follow scripture, and study early Christianity to develop pure Christianity, no dogma or paganism to distract me. I was raised SDA, there's alot of dogma I had to unlearn just to be here today. Like they have dumb rules like no caffeine or meat, JESUS PREPARED FISH, I don't need Ellen G. Guys I don't want to sound rude. But in the Bible God says that he's not the author of confusion. And since Constantine you guys have been nothing but confused. Which logically means the scripture and the your religion has been tempered with. It's a logical outcome you can't hide from the fact. Now if the message is tempered with, what should God do? His next step has to be to send a new messenger and a preserved holy book with the original message. Now I believe Quran is that preserved scripture in its original language, and Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the final messenger and Islam (which means submitting to The One and Only God) is the religion for us all that began with Adam (peace be upon him) and got perfected in the time Muhammad (pbuh). And as a Muslim I love Jesus Christ (peace be upon him) and believe in his miraculous birth, I'm at peace, nothing is confusing. As a brother I would ask you guys to study Bible yourself (without the influence of church) and you'll find predictions about the final prophet and then study Quran (just a read, see if it makes sense). Thanks, God bless.
Not quite, Read ewton's explanation of Jesus in his pre human form. He beieved that the father produced the son from out of himself, the same substance as the father but not equel to the father. We’re talking about the Egyptian influence for the trinity of The Father Osiris, The Mother Isis and The Son Horus, right? We finish our prayers with, 'Amen' as in 'Amen Ra', the Egyptian god Ra.
Your comparison is false. 50,000 years ago the first religions we were started. They were pagan and believed in many Gods. With your logic, believing in a God must be pagan. 10,000 years ago, the Persians wete the first to believe in one GOD and called their religion Zoroastrianism. C.3,000 BC, Judaism began. Therefore Monotheism is pagan. If the Trinity is pagan, the New testament is pagan.
JAMES 3;13-18 Shows clearly that 'where there is contention. argueing, disorder e.t.c' there is not the 'wisdom from above'. Nicea contrasts drastically with the first christian council held in Jerusalem in 49ad where the apostles & older men" decided "unanimously" on the matter under discussion! They believe in One God but He has a Son of the same Essence so you believe in two Gods. You are either a polytheist or a monotheist there is no in between.
So if you are worshipping three different persons with Godly Essence that means you are a polytheist who believes and worships three different gods. There is no such thing in the religion of the prophets of God.

Very interesting presentation. It does get complicated doesn't it. The more I learn about the Nicaean creed the more I’m convinced that the trinity is false doctrine. It’s common knowledge by now that Greek philosophy had heavily influenced the Christian doctrines that were given to us by the apostles. And now a lot of Christians have fallen victim to false doctrine, leading to vain worship. Sad to see the pure doctrine of Christ be tainted by man.
@kyara ksf one of the greatest examples is the idea of essence and substance. This was a concept that Plato and Aristotle had taught often which was later introduced and debated by Christians. Essence, being the form or immaterial characteristics, and substance, being the physical make-up or material side. Augustine and Thomas Aquinas were most known for combining philosophy with Christianity. These ideas lead to the institutionalized implementation of the idea of the Trinity. Now, most Christians have accepted the idea of the trinity without realizing that it was canonized because of debate and voting, and that early Christians recognized the distinct difference between God the Father and Jesus Christ. To them (the early Christians) God the Father’s relationship with His Son was comparable to that of how we understand parental relationships today.
The earliest Christians, the Church Apostolic fathers learned from Jesus through; they established the Nicene Creed at Constantine One in 335-330 There was one church. Then 800s, Niece Christians are known as Orthodox Christian Church. Why be Catholic when they changed the Nicene in the 00Creed that was established by the church fathers in 325.
You misunderstand modal logic and metaphysics... Otherwise yes, you could say such a thing... But not all things are as simplistic as we humans would often like to pretend.
The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are one being (Yahweh, in English versions Yahweh is normally just replaced with God but this does not do justice to the Hebrew translations of the old testament) but different aspects of the same being. To simplify, Yahweh is so great, powerful, and loving to us that He divided Himself into 3 persons as a grace to us because we are incapable of sustaining the fullness of God. The Father is the genesis of all creation because He the brains/though of Yahweh, the Holy Spirit is the energy or presence of Yahweh, and the Son (most common occurrence in the bible is Jesus, God in the flesh) is the voice of God. This is proven by Genesis 1 with the order of creation; the Father is relieved in verse 1 who created the molecules/materials needed for all existence with His thought, verse 2 the Holy Spirit imparts energy needed for all creation with just His presence, and in verse 3 the Son (voice/Word of God) forms the matter and energy together when it says "And God said "Let there be light...". This also further puts understanding on how much John 1:1-18 puts into context that Jesus is the Son of God and not just a prophet or someone with mental issues. From beginning to end the bible is one interwoven and flawless textbook on how to have a relationship with Yahweh. So, Arius at face value may have some logic but a minimal understanding of the complexity of God's grand scheme and His players guide (the bible) quickly debunks his theory.

Great video, shows on a timeline how Christianity evolved in today’s version. Jesus was a monotheist same as Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Say: O People of the Scripture! Come to a common word between us and you: that we shall worship none but God, and that we shall ascribe no partner unto Him, and that none of us shall take others for lords beside God. And if they turn away, then say: Bear witness that we are they who have surrendered (unto Him). (Aal ‘Imran 3:64)
Khan Academy, just wondering is Arius connect to Tertullian? The reason I ask is because I have read Tertullian writing and his idea sounds like the quote from Arius. Also fun fact: The Pope didn't show up at the Council of Nicaea because the Pope and the Emperor didn't see eye to eye.
The Pope still affirmed the council and he was represented by 2 delegates. My understanding is that Tertullian has to be taken with a grain of salt as he also died away from true Orthodoxy by embracing Montanism. My understanding is that Tertullian articulated that the Logos and the Spirit were brought forth by the Father and not eternally distinct. Ontologically however they were still eternal. This was an understanding corrected at Nicaea with the doctrine of eternal generation which professes an eternal distinction between the three persons of the Holy Trinity
Well, not much because most Christians don't know the slightest thing about Church History. Trinitarianism won out over Arianism; and so almost all modern Christians are Trinitarianists. As the saying goes, "History is written by the victors."

Constantine didn't tolerate Christianity, that's a retcon. He converted on his deathbed, and the only witness was his sixth wife or whatever, the only Christian one. Conveniently, she claimed his last words, were conversion to Christianity and saying Christianity should be the official cult of the state. So just like Islam it's an entire religion that falls down to believing the word of one woman who stood to lose everything or gain the world. I don't know much about the gods but I know much about humans - humans lie. Constantine and Mohammed's wives both lied. They faced ruination, or extreme profit, and CONVENIENTLY chose extreme profit.
The only correction I would make is that there were not “sects”. There was the orthodox church and then heretics like Arius would come out from time to time

PORTION OF LETTER TO EUSEBIUS, WRITTEN BY ARIUS Since Eusebius, your brother in Caesarea, and Theodotus, and Paulinus, and Athanasius, and Gregory, and Aetius and all those in the East say that God pre-exists the Son without a beginning, they have been condemned, except for Philogonius and Hellenicus and Macarius, unlearned heretics some of whom say that the Son was “spewed out”, others that he was an “emanation”, still others that he was “jointly unbegotten.” We are not able to listen to these kinds of impieties, even if the heretics threaten us with ten thousand deaths. But what do we say and think and what have we previously taught and do we presently teach? - that the Son is not unbegotten, nor a part of an unbegotten entity in any way, nor from anything in existence, but that HE is subsisting in will and intention before time and before the ages, full God, the only-begotten, unchangeable. Before HE was begotten, or created, or defined, or established, HE did not exist. For HE was not unbegotten. But we are persecuted because we have said the Son has a beginning but God has no beginning. We are persecuted because of that and for saying HE came from non-being. But we said this since HE is not a portion of God nor of anything in existence. That is why we are persecuted; you know the rest. ARIUS OPPOSED HIM IN THIS MANNER; “IF THE FATHER BEGAT THE SON, HE WHO IS BEGOTTEN MUST HAVE A BEGINNING OF HIS EXISTENCE AND FROM HENCE, SAY HE, ‘TIS MANIFEST THAT THERE WAS A TIME WHEN HE WAS NOT”. ALSO FROM THE SAME BOOK WE READ, AND YET NOTWITHSTANDING ALL THESE THINGS, WHEN ALEXANDER GIVES AN ACCOUNT OF THE PRINCIPLES OF ‘ARIUS’ TO THE BISHOPS, HE REPRESENTS THEM IN ALL THE CONSEQUENCES HE THOUGHT FIT TO DRAW FROM THEM, AND CHARGES HIM (ARIUS) WITH HOLDING, THAT THE SON WAS MADE LIKE EVERY OTHER CREATURE ABSOLUTELY OUT OF NOTHING AND THAT THEREFORE HIS NATURE WAS MUTABLE AND SUSCEPTIVE EQUALLY OF VIRTUE AND VICE, WITH MANY OTHER INSIDIOUS AND UNSCRIPTURAL DOCTRINES, WHICH ARIUS PLAINLY APPEARS NOT TO HAVE MAINTAINED OR TAUGHT” (ibid, PAGE 25). AS A STATEMENT OF FAITH (IN RESPONSE TO THE EMPEROR CONSTANTINE), HE SAID, “WE BELIEVE IN ONE GOD, THE FATHER ALMIGHTY, AND IN HIS SON, THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, WHO PROCEEDED FROM HIM BEFORE ALL AGES, BEING GOD THE WORD, BY WHOM ALL THINGS WERE MADE, WHETHER THINGS IN HEAVEN OR THINGS ON EARTH”. LIMBORCH REPLIES THUS, “HIS (ARIUS) AFFIRMING THAT THE SON HAD A BEGINNING WAS ONLY SAYING, THAT HE WAS IN THE WHOLE OF HIS EXISTENCE FROM THE FATHER AS THE ORIGIN AND FOUNTAIN OF HIS BEING AND DEITY, AND NOT ANY DENIAL OF HIS BEING FROM BEFORE ALL TIMES AND AGES OR HIS BEING COMPLETELY GOD HIMSELF OR HIS BEING PRODUCED AFTER A MORE EXCELLENT MANNER THAN THE CREATURES”.
No. Even in Arianism Jesus is God, he just isn't God the Father.

You should have done your part as the one being confirmed into faith. There are lots of books written by Church Fathers and even Saints on the topic.

And then... Controversy.

if one is the father and the other is the son, then that implies that one of them came first, and the other second. if they are coeternal then they should be twins, not father and son.

There was only a minority of the total number of bishops even in attendance at the Council of Nicaea, probably not even what we would call a quorum.
(Read "Arianism: Roman Heresy and Barbarian Creed" for more on this)
@@lamename2010 I do believe that by force the majority of bishops agreed with Athanasius.
@@Islam.is.the.truth..So far it's landed us on the moon and a high standard of living.
“The creed”
Truth is with the monastic ascetics from the beginning, their wouldn’t be Christianity.
Us Catholics say it too, but our Creed makes clear that the holy spirit comes from the father AND THE SON, which, if I'm not mistaken, is a Latin addition that didn't appear in the Greek

result: Paul is a corrupter of Jesus' message
Exactly, this is what we Muslims are trying to tell our Christian Friends but they keep Rejecting it

Indo-Europeans = Aryans, West Asians= Semites

No, you’re proposing Monophysitism if I am correct. Son is distinct from the Father, yet they are of the same mold, same essence.
Matěj Jureček where can I find the Scripture that states the Son is the same substance as the Father?
Thank you for your explanation's clarity.

@Joshua S ✝
Ain't sure why are you very selective in choosing your verse to proof Jesus's divinity. There are many evidence across the Bible that Jesus was a prophet who came to proclaim the message of One God.
1. John 14:28
The Father is greater than I.
This is another strong statement that makes a distinction between Jesus and God.
2. Matthew 26:39
My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me, yet not as I will, but as Thou will.
Jesus’ will is likewise autonomous from God’s Will. Jesus is seeking acquiescence to God’s will.
3. John 5:26
For as the Father has life in Himself, so he has granted the Son to have life in himself.
Jesus received his life from God. God received his life from no one. He is eternally self-existent.
4. John 5:30
By myself, I can do nothing: I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who has sent me.
Jesus says, “by myself, I can do nothing.” This indicates that Jesus is relying upon his own relationship with God. He is not trying to “please myself” but rather is seeking to “please the one who sent me.”
5. John 5:19
The Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees the Father doing, because whatever the Father does, the Son does also.
Jesus declares that he is following a pattern laid down by God. He is expressing obedience to God.
6. Mark 10:18
Why do you call me good? No one is good, except God alone.
Here Jesus emphatically makes a distinction between himself and God.
7. Matthew 24:36
No one knows about that day or hour, not even the Son, but the Father only.
Here Jesus makes a distinction between what he knows and what the Father knows.
8. Matthew 6:9
Our Father, which art in Heaven.
He didn’t pray, Our Father, which art standing right here!”
9. Matthew 27:46
My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me?
Inconceivable if he is God the Creator.
10. John 17:21-23
. . .that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you.
Read John chapter 1
Everything discussed here is based on the ideas of Isis, Osiris and Horus which the Greeks and Romans translated to God, Jesus, Mary, and eventually the Holy Spirit.

What is the program
The earliest Christians, the Church Apostolic fathers learned from Jesus through; they established the Nicene Creed at Constantine
One in 335-330
There was one church.
Then 800s,
Niece Christians are known as Orthodox Christian Church.
Why be Catholic when they changed the Nicene in the 00Creed that was established by the church fathers in 325.
Arius was betrayed by his brothers in Christ.
It’s “filioque,” not “filoque.” “Folio” is Latin for Son, not “filo.”
Arius is pointing out simple logic.
Arius was Muhammad’s mentor...
They have certainly disbelieved who say, "Allāh is the third of three." And there is no god except one God. And if they do not desist from what they are saying, there will surely afflict the disbelievers among them a painful punishment.

Allāh has not taken any son, nor has there ever been with Him any deity. [If there had been], then each deity would have taken what it created, and some of them would have [sought to] overcome others. Exalted is Allāh above what they describe [concerning Him].

Khan Academy, just wondering is Arius connect to Tertullian? The reason I ask is because I have read Tertullian writing and his idea sounds like the quote from Arius.
Also fun fact:
The Pope didn't show up at the Council of Nicaea because the Pope and the Emperor didn't see eye to eye.
How does this affect the Christian church today?
Well, not much because most Christians don't know the slightest thing about Church History. Trinitarianism won out over Arianism; and so almost all modern Christians are Trinitarianists. As the saying goes, "History is written by the victors."

No. Christ promised that he will always be with his Church.
Constantine didn't tolerate Christianity, that's a retcon. He converted on his deathbed, and the only witness was his sixth wife or whatever, the only Christian one. So just like Islam it's an entire religion that falls down to believing the word of one woman who stood to lose everything or gain the world. PORTION OF LETTER TO EUSEBIUS, WRITTEN BY ARIUS
Since Eusebius, your brother in Caesarea, and Theodotus, and Paulinus, and Athanasius, and Gregory, and Aetius and all those in the East say that God pre-exists the Son without a beginning, they have been condemned, except for Philogonius and Hellenicus and Macarius, unlearned heretics some of whom say that the Son was “spewed out”, others that he was an “emanation”, still others that he was “jointly unbegotten.”
We are not able to listen to these kinds of impieties, even if the heretics threaten us with ten thousand deaths.
PHILIPP VAN LIMBORCH, THE HISTORY OF THE INQUISITION PAGE 22 WROTE THE FOLLOWING,
“THE OCCASION OF THE ARIAN CONTROVERSY WAS THIS - ALEXANDER (BISHOP OF ALEXANDRIA), SPEAKING IN A VERY WARM MANNER CONCERNING THE TRINITY, BEFORE THE PRESBYTERS AND THE CLERGY OF HIS CHURCH, AFFIRMED THERE WAS A UNITY IN THE TRINITY, AND PARTICULARLY THAT THE SON WAS CO-ETERNAL AND CONSUBSTANTIAL, AND OF THE SAME DIGNITY WITH THE FATHER.
ARIUS OPPOSED HIM IN THIS MANNER; “IF THE FATHER BEGAT THE SON, HE WHO IS BEGOTTEN MUST HAVE A BEGINNING OF HIS EXISTENCE AND FROM HENCE, SAY HE, ‘TIS MANIFEST THAT THERE WAS A TIME WHEN HE WAS NOT”.
ALSO FROM THE SAME BOOK WE READ,
AND YET NOTWITHSTANDING ALL THESE THINGS, WHEN ALEXANDER GIVES AN ACCOUNT OF THE PRINCIPLES OF ‘ARIUS’ TO THE BISHOPS, HE REPRESENTS THEM IN ALL THE CONSEQUENCES HE THOUGHT FIT TO DRAW FROM THEM, AND CHARGES HIM (ARIUS) WITH HOLDING, THAT THE SON WAS MADE LIKE EVERY OTHER CREATURE ABSOLUTELY OUT OF NOTHING AND THAT THEREFORE HIS NATURE WAS MUTABLE AND SUSCEPTIVE EQUALLY OF VIRTUE AND VICE, WITH MANY OTHER INSIDIOUS AND UNSCRIPTURAL DOCTRINES, WHICH ARIUS PLAINLY APPEARS NOT TO HAVE MAINTAINED OR TAUGHT” (ibid, PAGE 25).
