I thought Augustus was Caesar's great nephew.
Yes, but Caesar adopted him as his own son. Giving him the name Caesar as well, making him Gaius Julius Caesar Octavianus.
In portuguese, please.
Even old New York was once New Amsterdam
Why they changed it I can't say
People just liked it better that way!

I can say. It's because the English prefer English over Dutch names.
Why not use bc and ad?! So much simpler!
Me Just Might be because they carry religious significance so in order to respect all the kinds of viewers watching the video he is using BCE and CE which is more of a neutral tone since they stand for Before Common Era and Common Era.
Might just be something else altogether. Whether you’re religious or not, Jesus Christ is the single most recognized name in human history. Doesn’t matter what part of the world you’re from or what any of your beliefs are. Every single person on earth knows who Christ was and so dividing modern time by his name puts events into historic context. The fact that, in modern history, there hasn’t been a single person on the entire planet, be they atheist, agnostic, or otherwise, that doesn’t know Christ’s story, proves how little it has to do with religion and how much it has to do with historical significance. Perhaps attempting to replace BC and AD as historical markers with something else is actually about something else.
