Do you recommend using the 5 elements to activate or deactivate an area, such as red pillows, green plants, wooden benches? Thanks in advance.

I personally prefer the actual ELEMENTS before I resort to using the COLOURS so while you have the right idea with green plants and wooden benches, for fire I would try to first see if I can put fireplace / candles / bright light there first. If not, then something of the fiery colour as my second choice
