I think the criticism of this 1.0ltr engine is unwarranted. I've driven the new Octavia and the New A3 with this engine/manual gearbox setup. It never feels like a 1.0ltr, it feels like a 1.6+ engine in general use. It's not being advertised as a performance powerhouse so why are we judging it as one....say it as it is. Is it a fast car? No, is it well capable of performing for general daily use including overtaking etc. Yes without question!
That is good to know since I've ordered an A3 Sportsback, and I still could change some options.>Though I'm still not convinced for the motor...1.0 or 1.5L. Completely agree my sister has a new Audi A1 1.0L . The first time i drove it the first thing i said to her was there’s no way this is a 1.0L , it honestly felt like i was driving a 1.4-1.5 . I’ve just ordered a brand new Audi A3 30tsfi S-line , i’m buzzing for it to come in August
I got one as a curtesy car and I didn’t even know it was a 1 litre engine because it drove almost like the 1.6 litre A class I was given prior to this one until I did a check on it and realised it’s a 1 litre engine car, it’s pretty quick enough for anything u might need a car for in the uk since the speed limit is on 70mph and this is capable of doing 130mph so it’s more than enough.
The 1 liter engine is nothing wrong with. Only thing that is a little better with the 1.5 liter version, is that it has a better rear suspension. The 1 liter version has a torsion bar, so its a bit rougher in handling, not that most people would notice anyway :) The only downside with this car is that it is lacking in standard equipment. I do not care about the $3000 navigation option, since I use Android Auto for everything of that but its the small things like missing interiour lights, that only exist if you got some extras.. or like a visual reverse sensor indication, like even our VW Up has, that just feels wierd.. and also it has a radar, but if you did not pay extra for the software it just shows a warning if you are too close to the car infront, instead of using it for the cruise control.
The MMI is actually really good, the guy did nothing for it if I'm honest. he didn't even know how to work the volume control should probably learn how it works before doing a review mate.
Over 38,000 for that car with a 1.0 lt engine and all these dealerships complaining that their sales are down ,those people that continue to fork out that sort of money regardless are the reason that prices are going the wrong way.
The previous A3 also had a 1 litre petrol by the way. I have a 1 litre petrol in my VW golf estate and its grand. Hooked up to DSG transmission and its perfectly acceptable.
Don't think that's what he's getting at, your paying the bones of 40k for a 1 liter Petrol in what's supposed to be a luxury german car. Sure it may be fine but 40k
You see there are men out there who think that the litre of a car determines its power output and performance. They don't have a clue. Car engines have changed a lot in 10 years. A 1l turbo is perfectly acceptable with plenty of torque. More than a 1.6 from 10 years ago.
I have a 1.0 L DSG Audi A3 2017. The engine is surprisingly sprightly for its size and never feels underpowered. I have a 2.0 L 200bhp diesel for comparison and the Audi is still very pleasuresome to drive!
The 1.0l engines are fine in most cases and around town but only time will tell how well they’ll stand up if they’re being driven hard/on motorways etc. Nice vid 👍

I'm swapping my x6 for an a3 saloon 35 tdi edition 1. Going from 306bhp to 150bhp and a much lower down ride. I'm actually looking forward to it though. Anything to look out for ?
What's even funnier is that they put so many fake air vents on it that it suggests it has like 500hp. Just that is what makes this car look far from premium to me

Nope. Not going to watch all of this having read the comments. Drove a 1 litre Civic last year and the fuel consumption was around 28 mpg worse than driving my exes Honda Jazz.
I'm about a month into ownership of my Sline A3 Saloon. Its a 1.5l petrol dsg. So far I'm not liking it at all and will probably shift it in a few months. Coming from a 1L A1, the engine in the A3 sounds like a tractor. For a 50k car, it's very disappointing. Our other family car is a VW ID4. It is leaps and bounds better to drive than the Audi. As family cars, Evs are really starting to leave ICE vehicles behind.
Just bought a low mileage 2018 Seat Leon 1.6 tdi for €13800, which is essentially the same car wearing a slightly cheaper suit, €38k for that, are they mad..
@@ST-ur7oh well from my own personal experience of the 1.6 tdi, since 2012 our family have had 3 Leon's, 2 Octavias , 1 Ateca, none had egr or injecter problems. So thanks for you concern but I think I'll be alright 👍
We have two Audi A3's, an 2018 1.5 TFSI which we're very happy with. But the 2011 A3 1.6 TDI has had to have 2 injectors replaced. Been told it's because we got the software update after emissions scandal. Audi in both cases of the injectors failing eventually covered bill each time which was over €1000. But only after a shouting match in the showroom and the fact we had a full Audi service history on the 2011 from new.
@@pf1133 sounds familiar. My golf and mums jetta diesel both had EGR and injectors issues after the fix. Economy was never right also. Glad to move them on. We have a 1.5 TSI now too - excellent engine .
They have removed all the elegance Audis used to have and brought the interior down to a level of Seat or a Skoda. The original A3 saloon was the most elegant car on the road. The new Mk4 (and I have one each of the previous 3 marks) is utterly ghastly. BMW i3 here I come.
My 3 year old A3 has a beautiful interior. Audi have ruined what was a great set up. Mind you, my infotainment system is rubbish and Audi hasn't improved on it, it seems. Shame.
It’s not the engine size that comprises the car as long as it has enough hp and torq. I have a focus st-line 1.0 ecoboost 140hp model and it goes like a rocket it has plenty power, unless it’s just the Audi’s are rubbish
What's with the fake grilles and fake exhausts. Makes it look tacky not classy. Also interior far too complicated and techy for me. Also a bit basic. What's wrong with easy to use knobs . Audi don't do well in reliability charts either
That's why there's a 6 speed. I have the Octavia Combi with the same engine and there's often 4 of us in it. Whereas I'm light weight I can't say the same for the other 3. Admittedly gearbox needs to be played with but if you are reading the road conditions right you'll seldom be caught out. The 1.5 petrol is an extra €3000 plus here and I figured that's my fuel for a few years.
@@Iceberg1313 That's fair what you're saying. These are modern cars after all with all the safety kit so manufacturers wouldn't make them that slow. I bought a brand new Honda Civic SR for £15.5k that was pre reg so I can live with a little lack of performance for that money, even if it's 1litre triple. Like you say I can buy a lot of fuel with money saving. Great ride comfort and safety kit. I think the Audi needs a bit more considering the badge and price.
@@richiebtime489 Definitely at that price, should at least be a 1.5 petrol. Civic is a lovely car, my daughter lives in England and bought a 2018 at a nice price and she's delighted with it. Enjoy many miles with it Richie.
This is a VW Golf / Ford Focus sized car with turbo petrol engines. The 1l pushes out somewhere around 110-120 hp and does 0-60 mph in about 10s; the 1.5l makes 130 (derated) or 150 hp, that latter making 60 in about 8.5s. That seems more than adequate to me, unless you want a sporty car, in which case you should probably be considering an S3.
Looks cheap and tacky, with lots of corporate hurdles, and it has one of those 3 cylinder engines that wont last long enough to get value from the car i venture. Plus, at that price there are far better cars.

@@ST-ur7oh well from my own personal experience of the 1.6 tdi, since 2012 our family have had 3 Leon's, 2 Octavias , 1 Ateca, none had egr or injecter problems. So thanks for you concern but I think I'll be alright 👍
@@MrYellow012 like the sunshine after the rain, it’s inevitable.
So it's no RS3 .....
Audi are taken this paying for the badge to far, for that price its dissappointed from start and downhill from there
Over priced VW Jetta!
AE TREE
It’s funny actually because I PREFER it because it’s only a 1.0 three cyl petrol
What's with the fake grilles and fake exhausts. Makes it look tacky not classy. Also interior far too complicated and techy for me. Also a bit basic. What's wrong with easy to use knobs . Audi don't do well in reliability charts either
1litre triples are ok, but they're absolute slugs with a few passengers
Obscene money for a lawnmower engine. If u want an audi there's any amount of 182 A5 sports backs for that money
To be fair the sound of a diesel from an Audi has never been great either
almost 40k f**k no, think I would rather go someplace else with my 40k.
The price is a total joke. What kind of a mug would buy this? No wonder car manufacturers are screwed.
For 38k you could import a 1 yr old 320d new model common sense will prevail.
Audi feels like 2.0L minimum to me.
A true over priced paddy-taxed, paddy-spec'd Audi... let some sorry sod buy it first time round then buy it after him and make the savings there!
Fed up with these stupid little tiny engines
What a silly little car...
Why would you even review the 1 ltr. engine? Nobody is buying it. The realistic choice is is the 1.5 ltr engine or the 2.0 S3.
First comment! Yay
Looks cheap and tacky, with lots of corporate hurdles, and it has one of those 3 cylinder engines that wont last long enough to get value from the car i venture. Plus, at that price there are far better cars.
First xo
I haven't even watched the whole video yet and I can comfortably say it's another hideously overpriced Audi which I definitely don't like and don't see the appeal of especially with a sewing machine for an engine. On the whole no!
A thoroughly ugly car inside and out👀
