You're making great videos and it's really helpful for me because, I'm looking to buy new a3 this year. But I have one question and I can't find that dimension anywhere. How high opens boot in sportback? I have 210 cm height space inside a garage and that boot door looks like open quite high :o

@@CRD90 I can't really see the difference in diesel and petrol bud in respect to performance I have a A6 diesel at the minute and have no issues with it. I know that the 2.0 190bhp will be the one to go for but my budget will only stretch to a 150 bhp edition 1. I really want those seats rather than go for the sline and go for the 190bhp 🤔. Have you drove the 150bhp petrol or diesel engines yet if so any thoughts. Ps you have a new subscriber 🤙👍. Thanks
@@jonathangalloway6796 thanks bud, I own the 150bhp petrol version and it's lovely for everyday driving. I actually get really good economy out of it (52mpg on long motorway journeys) Power wise I would say it's adequate, anything less and it would be slow for a saloon - but it certainly does not feel lack luster at legal speeds. To put this into context my weekend car has 450bhp, but I feel the Audi is a nice little package 👍🏽

I've owned an A3 sline for 3 months and I've just sold it. It's a rubbish car in my opinion. I come from an Audi A1 sline. The road noise on the 18 inch wheels is horrendous. I get an awful humming noise between 90 and 100kph. The auto gearbox is crap and was much better in the A1. It revs out and in general I think the 1.5 TSI engine is poor. The 1.0l auto in the A1 was light years better. The sterio system is also better in the A1 sline. The A3 sounds like a tin can in the cabin. Overall, not a car I'd rate at all. For the price it's just not a great car. The mechanicals feel cheap and for the price you want a great motorway cruiser.
Still haven't received my Audi A3 hybrid S-line S-tronic with C÷S pack and drivers pack. Ordered in Jan of 22. Might be coming sometime in August of 23 but told not to hold my breath.
Great information, best available on youtube , picked up my a3 edition 1 35 tdi s tronic last week, in the tango red with pan ram and comfort and sound pack not usually a massive red fan but the red against the black looks really sporty

Great channel, just subscribed. Very informative videos and great to see what your money actually gets you. I’ve a 2013 A3 saloon, Daytona grey, 2.0tdi and itching to go for tango red S3 but my head keeps saying, stay safe, go for safe colour and more efficient fuel ...but the S3 keeps winking at me. Any chance any of your local subs could lend you their S3 to do a comparison ? Appreciate budget comes into everyone’s final decision, just not sure if the extra ££ is worth it for the S3 never mind long term costs (more services etc...). Many say if you are thinking about costs don’t buy one, it still doesn’t stop me from wanting one, so would love to hear from an A3 driver, their honest opinion on the S3 and real mpg. After a few fast drives, does the novelty wear off? It will be my car for next 8 years + so don’t want another diesel and always regret not changing, but also don’t want a car that after a few months, there is realisation that I should have played safe...1st world problems eh!! Thanks bud! We went through this exact same decision ourselves. As mentioned in the video we had the edition1 first and had the chance to re-order the car. At this point we heavily considered the s3 but ultimately there were a lot of factors that personally didn't quite tick all the boxes for our circumstances. Have you got Facebook or Instagram? This is a really good and very useful video, thanks. This is my take to help future A3 purchasers - I bought a Sportback S-line, 1.5 TFSI, S-tronic in October 20 with the following additions, Comfort and Sound Pack, Ambient Lighting Pack, Lane Change Assistant (no longer available on S-Line), rear bolster airbags (as I take my elderly parents in the back). This is my feedback about the options. I agree with Auzzam, think the standard S-line wheels don't look quite as good as the £145 diamond-cut option but didn't upgrade mine as I'm told diamond cut wheels are much more expensive/difficult to repair. The S-Line Sports suspension which is the default on S-line models isn't too firm as some tests suggest and is fine - no need to de-specify in my view. To me, the smaller 10.5 inch Virtual Cockpit (VC) is fine especially as the temperature gauge is more obvious than in the VC Plus and the navigation data is repeated on the central MMI screen if you need the detail. I am not very impressed by the B&O sound system, I think mainly because the subwoofer is in the front dash rather than the boot so is smaller and causes more resonance - the sound is adequate but not outstanding. I miss the Storage Pack I had on my last A3 - particularly the seat back nets although they did stretch plus there are no 12V sockets in the rear/boot. The problem with the Lane Change Assistant is that it does warn you of cars approaching behind in other lanes but only when the distance is quite short eg. the warning light in the mirror might not have illuminated but the approaching car is too close to pull out. I can't see a way to alter the setting. Park Assist is an underused novelty in my view. Finally, the Audi online system which is crucial to the MMI functionality needs refining, my car has had a modem control unit replaced as it couldn't log me on etc. but am suspicious that there was a network problem. The Audi phone app works okay but the main website thinks I'm in Ontario, Canada although my Audi dealer is in Sussex UK! Overall though the car is nice and taut to drive, quite quick with good handling and I do like it despite its idiosyncrasies!

Just had a look at Autotrader (admit it you all do it) and seen a 2020 S3 with, a massive £5k spec, and 11k miles for £33,500 that’s 2021 S Line money...crazy. But after looking at your video I’d have to agree with you that the Edition 1 is the best value for money

I would have gone for the leathers in the edition1 if they existed when we first purchased that car. So naturally when the vorsprung became available it was a no brainer. The coolant temp comes when you use the widescreen view on the car info page. You’ll get the Speedo and rev counter on the sides and it will show up in the middle along with the selected display of the clock, consumption etc
Cracking Video Auzzam.I bought a Audi A3 S line Black edition 1.5 TFSI COD new 2 years ago and had nothing but trouble regarding issues with the engine hesitating, juddering when you set off ,a flat spot when you put your foot down and even cut out twice when setting off in first gear.To cut a long story short it went back to my local dealership (Blackburn Audi) 5 times in the two years I had it and got fob off every single time,them saying we can’t find anything wrong with it.Apart from the issues I had the build quality was really good and I did like the car.My question is what do you think to the 2 L 190 brake horsepower, I do feel the 300 brake horsepower version would be quite expensive car to run and own,I just don’t want another 1.5,it has put me off for life.
Cheers bud! Funny as I had similar experience with Audi Lincoln which is in the same neck of the woods. The 1.5 was decent from an economy perspective but did lack some guts when putting your foot down. The 190 version might be a good compromise as the 300bhp s3 is not only expensive to buy, but the road tax is more expensive as the list price is easy to go north of £40k (extra £315/325 on tax per year) I personally would rather spend the difference on selecting a better trim with options and maybe settle for the 190bhp option. I'm not 100% sure but I heard rumours that may no longer be available which might throw a spanner in the works!
I ordered the Edition 1 manual drive and received it this May. I was not offered the Driver Assistance Package. I’m very disappointed as my previous cars all had this. The Vorsprung is no longer available to order either. I don’t know what to do. The other options are all automatics and I enjoy manual driving to them. Been arguing with Audi for 3 weeks now. Love the drive but angry I missed out on 2 packages.
Did you order the package at the time of order? And they removed it afterwards? I believe the driver assist features only came on the automatic from memory (or at least certain elements of it)

Always spec everything Audi offer you think you want as Audi will NOT Retro Fit options after delivery. My used S3 came without a reverse camera but I fitted an aftermarket one which operates with the Audi screen for less than £200. Also fitted black badges as mine's a Black Edition. 19 inch alloys look nice but tyres will last half or less as long as 18 inch due to tyre tread depth. Also with19 inch alloys you will feel every bump in the road as well as more road / tyre noise. VCDS software and a laptop will unlock options that are not turned on but are on your car such as showing reverse sensors on your MMI screen or being able to set the S3 exhaust valve open all the time in all driving modes.

Hey buddy, interesting question and one I recently asked Audi myself. Their response was if in the event of a warranty claim we find the installation of a third party device (e.g immobiliser or reverse camera) to cause the issue the warranty will be voided. Now in reality I'm not sure how they will prove that, but given the electrical issues with these cars I would not like to give them a reason to get away without fixing it.

Hi auzzam. Your videos are very clear and helpfull. And a big thumbs up.. i to have a edition one S5 and it was a launch car from audi. Yes your right there is no engine temp gauge just a oil temp gauge ( why ) the other reason for a standard round steering wheel is because they are heated. You can not get a heated flat bottom due to the heating element needs to be a circle ?? Thats what audi say. And what gets me is why they can not put a standard engine oil dip stick. Never trust a electronic gauge that could go faulty and low engine oil level or worst. But good to watch your audi videos. Big thumbs up. 😀

Bit late to comment but a very useful and in depth comparison. I think options and specs have changed again as Vorsprung is no longer available and fewer options overall. I’m trying to help my partner choose her next car and the Edition 1 with C & S, storage pack, spare wheel in Navarra Blue (or possibly Daytona) looks to be the best spec and I don’t think a pano roof is available at all. As usual the m’fers websites don’t help very much in making sure you haven’t missed anything. Thanks again.
Glad it's helped, yep the options have changed quite somewhat due to the semiconductor back log. But interesting the vorsprung has now disappeared. I agree the ed1 is probably still the best overall value for money
I've got the S line but finding the seats very firm and uncomfortable due to having issues with my back. I've ttried the alcantara seats and find them a lot more comfortable can you get the Alcantara seats or am iI better off getting a Edition 1
Hi Mark thanks for watching. I agree the s-line seats are more firm than the cushiony alcantara. I think you'd personally be better off trading the car for an editon1 as the seats will be costly if you can find them from Audi and once you've had them fitted probably no longer worth it.
Hey, If I ordered the edition 1 with the pano sunroof back in Dec with build date this month, but the sunroof was removed from the configurator month+ ago, will I get the sunroof?
Hey bro, worth giving the dealer a call. Some subscribers have been told there car will come without. Apparently they do not have enough microchips to put in the mechanism to open/close the roof. Definitely worth checking with them as it might well be a deal-breaker for you.
Really annoying about Audi removing the extended matrix headlights option for the base S3! I want the matrix lights but also much prefer the aluminium styling over the black

Possibly not as the car will be controlling your speed, so will need to go through the gears. With a manual the car will be limited to the gear you're in.
Best video so far. Very informative. I've now got an estimated delivery date of 30th June for my 35 tfsi tronic in daytona grey. Tht's from an 8th March order date. I've added flat bottom steering wheel, ambient lighting and alloys and happy with that other than perhaps the pan roof which does look good. Every one has different priorities, its a tricky choice. Your video will help a lot for those about to order.

I've never understood how the dates vary so much depending on the dealer. Our vorsprung was ordered in December but built in January. Maybe larger dealers have priority? Bit strange though

Lol not a stupid question at all, you'll have the technik trim and I believe this is standard on there too. It's really weird at first (this was the first car for me that had a missing hand brake) but you get used to it after a while. You're just basically pulling a button up and down instead of a physical lever 👍🏽
@@CRD90 and, with auto hold enabled, you don’t even have to do that: when you take your foot off the brake the car holds them on until you press the accelerator (like a longer lasting hill start assist).
Yep it's due to the microchip shortgages and actually something they're doing across their other models too. Looks like the wireless charger has disappeared from all models too... Strange that

In my country all of the sline facts are mostly wrong. Im from germany and my sline came with the rims from vorsprung and with the big cockpit for example

Thanks for a great video. Surprised you can’t get adaptive dampers / suspension, even on Vorsprung (my choice). I have a fully loaded 2017 S-line A3 TDI Quattro with all the driver aids (same as available now), matrix lights but I had flat bottom wheel and adaptive suspension. Flat wheel I can live without but no adaptive. Disappointing. Glad that the camera is back.

@@CRD90 Not yet. Was contemplating a Q3 45 or A3 40 both TFSI Quattro Vorsprung. Spoke to dealership. 6 months delay on both at the moment due to chips shortages. On Q3 I understand they are limiting sunroofs to just Vorsprung to protect supply of chips.

Enjoyed the comparisons. I just picked up my A3 Edition 1 today. Opened the drivers door and noticed no memory seat function.... Audi later confirmed the memory function no longer fitted due to emissions...who new! Apparently this has been the case since November 2020. Frustrating but still really like the car and design is superb.

New order: Sportback A3 Edition 1 and came with electric seats. Apparently there is no issue to correct. The Sales Agent wasn’t aware and had to check with management, who confirmed Audi had removed the memory function. And this was reflected in a price reduction of approx £550 on list price. Relates back to your previous video re: no electric seats in your A3 Saloon Edition 1...when you expected as a standard feature.
@@andreamasson9451 yep the electric seats are definitely standard, I wasn't aware they reduced the price to remove the memory function. When I compared the differences between a TDI on an sline and edition1 the difference was identical from a 35tfsi sline and edition1 which to me suggested they never reduced the price. But they could have done it more recently I guess

My personal opinion is the minimum anyone should go for is the s line (2k more than the sport) but there's a lot more extras. If there's enough demand I might see if I can pull together a sport and technik review although it might not be with real cars and just purely based of the configurator

Agreed, there are sport and technik trims available in the UK, however it was difficult to find owners who had these cars to bring them to the comparison so we decided to keep it to the most popular trims.
Thanks a lot for that in depth review! In Denmark you dont really have the different selections like you - at least not that obvious, we do also nearly pay twice the price you mention :D Got an A3 2019 already, no wireless CarPlay - does the new one have that? Two issues I found with my model is: microphone on hands free - the AC would blow directly into it when on, and it would Sound like a helicopter really - Audi said they were aware, but nothing they could change. Is that a thing in the new A3? Second one might be negated by the wireless CarPlay - if I connect manually in my car for CarPlay like many others experienced - turning up the volume high in your car would cut off the bass and do like a vol up / down constantly. You would assume it were a universal thing - however when connected on Bluetooth, it does not happen at all. Audi mechanics heard and saw it, and blamed it on a cheap USB chip. Does that happen in the new one? (I have Audi speakers atm but looking to get B&O for my new one).

The new car does have it (in the UK) unsure on Denmark. I can find out from the subscriber I mentioned above. It's funny you mention the microphone and blowers. Just this morning I tested the blowers and noticed the inner two are usually blowing much less air when the AC is set to feet and chest or chest and windscreen. I wonder if this is to stop the problem you mentioned? So far I've never had an issue with the mic cutting out on my new Vorsprung or the old edition1. As for the bass issue I don't really use carplay so can't comment but with android auto I always found it overwrites the inbuilt equaliser on the car. So you can't adjust it once the phones connected.
@@CRD90 it’s amazing to see your videos watched nearly all of your A3 ones now, much more informative than review youtubers - and from a customer perspective with all thoughts, so great work! Yes tax money well spent as one of the few countries having medical apartheid like Iran, proud Dane! Oh wait :-D That sounds like a workaround for that exact problem - as that kinda solved it for me when holding a towel there (Did a lot of testing). CarPlay is pretty standard in most cars now wireless so I guess it will have - ill be getting the 45tfsi-e hopefully - and from your reviews and what I saw in your videos im actually getting a saloon now myself instead, it’s so classy and beautiful really ! So thanks a bunch and great work! Forgot to mention - I used Android Auto as well - or tested it the same way, same issue across 3 different models of Samsungs and 3 models of iPhones - then I stopped testing and figured it had go be the USB port.

I got the an S3 pan roof, mat alloys red calipers. You don't need the B&O system, the standard one is good enough. In Europe they get more choice with wheels and accessories

As always great video! As an FYI I had mentioned it in the comments on another video, but thought I’d mention it again as it might help people out! The vorsprung is meant to have a reverse camera as standard. Audi told me it’s a genuine mistake, when they removed the 360 cameras from the spec they forgot to add the standard reverse cameras. They are fixing this now. In my case as my car is past the build stage, they are fitting the reversing camera for me upon delivery. Basically, if anyone got a vorsprung I’d get in touch with Audi and get them to sort this for you aswell.
Shocking that they keep forgetting things just like that! Oh well, I’m going to enjoy my 2 years free service plan instead of the lovely electric seats 😂

Hi decided not to go for “new build” and purchased Sept 2020 DEMO 35 tfsi sline sportback . Equipment fitted standard alloys which I’m more than happy with, electric lumbar support , alloy pedals, matrix headlights, interior lighting, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise assist ,flat bottom steering wheel. Also got the full three year warranty and roadside assistance and three years Audi connect price paid £26.000. BUT the ignition stop/start button was on the LEFT hand side so there was obviously a quality control issue when the car was being built , however that is going to be rectified in a couple of days under warranty by the dealer, as usual very informative video keep up the good work looking forward to more posts.

In regards to the start stop button, do you mean it's on the opposite side where the volume control is on the UK cars? Maybe they just used the panel from the LHD cars

The only issue I have is finding an owner with a technik based near London 🤦🏽♂️ Still not found one, the only other way to do the comparison is through comparing the trim on the website, but I feel that won't be the same. Lol that comparison made me crack up laughing! Yeah they don't come with the matrix lights, they actually have the strangest looking lights to be honest. Might not even be LED. I'll put a post out in a few days asking if anyone in London has one and see what we can do!

@@CRD90 yes your right , upon closer look it is an oil temperature gauge ! Always has a water temperature gauge on previous cars, the search goes on then?
When you're at a set of traffic lights and press the brake firmly the parking brake is applied (I've noticed this sometimes) then as you tap the accelerator after a milli second delay the parking brake is released and the car moves. This might only work on a slight decline though, but I've noticed it a few times. There's also the option to turn it on or off buried within the mmi
The lack of a physical AutoHold button is a mystery - though possibly inherited from more expensive Audis with programmable virtual buttons - and somewhat of a pain. I’m hoping Audi will make up for this omission by adding it as an option for the * button.
I turned mine on today from the MMI but really wish they didn’t remove the physical button, not like it was in the way!? I also noticed the * button has very little to offer programmable wise..... why not drive select!? It’s like they’ve gone backwards in many ways.

Great video 👍 for anyone buying an A3, don’t buy anything lower than the S-Line. I have the Sport model (company car) and the seats are really unsupportive and uncomfortable on longer journeys. Trust me it will be worth the extra cost and the residuals should be much higher when you come to sell.

Hey mate, can you check something? I have 2 Problems noticed: First one: Is it possible that the LED-Stripe on the right front door isnt lights steady? all doors are fine expect the front right one. Its more intense in the back then in the front. Audi changed (according to them) my LED-Stripe; but its still the same error. second problem: Set your ventilation on full blow and then set your vent arrow on your feet or on your windshield. Hold your hand in front of your left airvent (the one left from the steering wheel) Is air coming out of it? On the right side there is no air coming out Audi cant fix this problem
Hey bud, Just tried this out for you. 1) my ambient light strip is the same as the others even when I look at it from underneath all the individual LEDs seem to be working. 2) my inner vents (left from the steering wheel and closest passenger vent next to the mmi) only have noticeable air when at least part of the air is pointing towards the chest. If I set it to fully windscreen or fully feet then the inner vents stop blowing. I think this is probably down to more air being pushed through the lower vents / windscreen. Main thing on this one it seems like that's the way it's supposed to work 👍🏽

I only notice it in full darkness. attached is a picture. Most noticble is red and white on the lowest setting. 2) I just checked this and you are right, the most left and most right vent are still blowing air even if its on windscreen mode. The "inner vents" dont do that. I dont think thats how it should work to be honest. if i want my air on my windscreen i want it only there; my other cars could do that :D

The 1.5 has 150ish bhp and the 2.0 should have 190ish and with the optional quattro.

@@CRD90 I can't really see the difference in diesel and petrol bud in respect to performance I have a A6 diesel at the minute and have no issues with it. I know that the 2.0 190bhp will be the one to go for but my budget will only stretch to a 150 bhp edition 1. I really want those seats rather than go for the sline and go for the 190bhp 🤔.

I actually get really good economy out of it (52mpg on long motorway journeys)
Power wise I would say it's adequate, anything less and it would be slow for a saloon - but it certainly does not feel lack luster at legal speeds.
To put this into context my weekend car has 450bhp, but I feel the Audi is a nice little package 👍🏽

Dont forget residuals. If you buy a lower spec and add exras you wont get it back. If you buy a higher trim the residuals reflect it
I've owned an A3 sline for 3 months and I've just sold it. It's a rubbish car in my opinion. I come from an Audi A1 sline. The road noise on the 18 inch wheels is horrendous. I get an awful humming noise between 90 and 100kph. The auto gearbox is crap and was much better in the A1. It revs out and in general I think the 1.5 TSI engine is poor. The 1.0l auto in the A1 was light years better. The sterio system is also better in the A1 sline. The A3 sounds like a tin can in the cabin. Overall, not a car I'd rate at all. For the price it's just not a great car. The mechanicals feel cheap and for the price you want a great motorway cruiser.
Still haven't received my Audi A3 hybrid S-line S-tronic with C÷S pack and drivers pack. Ordered in Jan of 22. Might be coming sometime in August of 23 but told not to hold my breath.
Honestly not worth waiting that long bud, it will be a bit of a let down if they haven't sorted the issues by now

Totally agree the way the red contrasts with the black styling pack really makes it pop. I remember the first time I filmed the red sportback in this video, I was literally staring at it for minutes 🤤

I’ve a 2013 A3 saloon, Daytona grey, 2.0tdi and itching to go for tango red S3 but my head keeps saying, stay safe, go for safe colour and more efficient fuel ...but the S3 keeps winking at me. Any chance any of your local subs could lend you their S3 to do a comparison ? Appreciate budget comes into everyone’s final decision, just not sure if the extra ££ is worth it for the S3 never mind long term costs (more services etc...). Many say if you are thinking about costs don’t buy one, it still doesn’t stop me from wanting one, so would love to hear from an A3 driver, their honest opinion on the S3 and real mpg. After a few fast drives, does the novelty wear off? It will be my car for next 8 years + so don’t want another diesel and always regret not changing, but also don’t want a car that after a few months, there is realisation that I should have played safe...1st world problems eh!! At this point we heavily considered the s3 but ultimately there were a lot of factors that personally didn't quite tick all the boxes for our circumstances.

This is a really good and very useful video, thanks. This is my take to help future A3 purchasers - I bought a Sportback S-line, 1.5 TFSI, S-tronic in October 20 with the following additions, Comfort and Sound Pack, Ambient Lighting Pack, Lane Change Assistant (no longer available on S-Line), rear bolster airbags (as I take my elderly parents in the back).
This is my feedback about the options. I agree with Auzzam, think the standard S-line wheels don't look quite as good as the £145 diamond-cut option but didn't upgrade mine as I'm told diamond cut wheels are much more expensive/difficult to repair. The S-Line Sports suspension which is the default on S-line models isn't too firm as some tests suggest and is fine - no need to de-specify in my view. To me, the smaller 10.5 inch Virtual Cockpit (VC) is fine especially as the temperature gauge is more obvious than in the VC Plus and the navigation data is repeated on the central MMI screen if you need the detail.
I am not very impressed by the B&O sound system, I think mainly because the subwoofer is in the front dash rather than the boot so is smaller and causes more resonance - the sound is adequate but not outstanding. I miss the Storage Pack I had on my last A3 - particularly the seat back nets although they did stretch plus there are no 12V sockets in the rear/boot.
The problem with the Lane Change Assistant is that it does warn you of cars approaching behind in other lanes but only when the distance is quite short eg. the warning light in the mirror might not have illuminated but the approaching car is too close to pull out. I can't see a way to alter the setting. Park Assist is an underused novelty in my view.
Finally, the Audi online system which is crucial to the MMI functionality needs refining, my car has had a modem control unit replaced as it couldn't log me on etc. but am suspicious that there was a network problem. The Audi phone app works okay but the main website thinks I'm in Ontario, Canada although my Audi dealer is in Sussex UK! Overall though the car is nice and taut to drive, quite quick with good handling and I do like it despite its idiosyncrasies!

But after looking at your video I’d have to agree with you that the Edition 1 is the best value for money

I would have gone for the leathers in the edition1 if they existed when we first purchased that car. So naturally when the vorsprung became available it was a no brainer.

You won't go wrong with the edition1 but it's worth double checking some of the options if ordering brand new. Theyve stripped some out due to chip shortages.
The coolant temp comes when you use the widescreen view on the car info page. You’ll get the Speedo and rev counter on the sides and it will show up in the middle along with the selected display of the clock, consumption etc
Cracking Video Auzzam.I bought a Audi A3 S line Black edition 1.5 TFSI COD new 2 years ago and had nothing but trouble regarding issues with the engine hesitating, juddering when you set off ,a flat spot when you put your foot down and even cut out twice when setting off in first gear.To cut a long story short it went back to my local dealership (Blackburn Audi) 5 times in the two years I had it and got fob off every single time,them saying we can’t find anything wrong with it.Apart from the issues I had the build quality was really good and I did like the car.My question is what do you think to the 2 L 190 brake horsepower, I do feel the 300 brake horsepower version would be quite expensive car to run and own,I just don’t want another 1.5,it has put me off for life.
Cheers bud! Funny as I had similar experience with Audi Lincoln which is in the same neck of the woods.
The 1.5 was decent from an economy perspective but did lack some guts when putting your foot down.
The 190 version might be a good compromise as the 300bhp s3 is not only expensive to buy, but the road tax is more expensive as the list price is easy to go north of £40k (extra £315/325 on tax per year)
I personally would rather spend the difference on selecting a better trim with options and maybe settle for the 190bhp option.
I'm not 100% sure but I heard rumours that may no longer be available which might throw a spanner in the works!
I ordered the Edition 1 manual drive and received it this May. I was not offered the Driver Assistance Package. I’m very disappointed as my previous cars all had this. The Vorsprung is no longer available to order either. I don’t know what to do. The other options are all automatics and I enjoy manual driving to them. Been arguing with Audi for 3 weeks now. Love the drive but angry I missed out on 2 packages.
Did you order the package at the time of order? And they removed it afterwards?
I believe the driver assist features only came on the automatic from memory (or at least certain elements of it)

Always spec everything Audi offer you think you want as Audi will NOT Retro Fit options after delivery. My used S3 came without a reverse camera but I fitted an aftermarket one which operates with the Audi screen for less than £200. Also fitted black badges as mine's a Black Edition. 19 inch alloys look nice but tyres will last half or less as long as 18 inch due to tyre tread depth. Also with19 inch alloys you will feel every bump in the road as well as more road / tyre noise.
VCDS software and a laptop will unlock options that are not turned on but are on your car such as showing reverse sensors on your MMI screen or being able to set the S3 exhaust valve open all the time in all driving modes.

Is addition of camera for parking after delivery advisable in S line sportsback? Is warranty compromised if Audi dealer not consulted??
Hey buddy, interesting question and one I recently asked Audi myself. Their response was if in the event of a warranty claim we find the installation of a third party device (e.g immobiliser or reverse camera) to cause the issue the warranty will be voided.
Now in reality I'm not sure how they will prove that, but given the electrical issues with these cars I would not like to give them a reason to get away without fixing it.

Hi auzzam. Your videos are very clear and helpfull. And a big thumbs up.. i to have a edition one S5 and it was a launch car from audi. Yes your right there is no engine temp gauge just a oil temp gauge ( why ) the other reason for a standard round steering wheel is because they are heated. You can not get a heated flat bottom due to the heating element needs to be a circle ?? Thats what audi say. And what gets me is why they can not put a standard engine oil dip stick. Never trust a electronic gauge that could go faulty and low engine oil level or worst. But good to watch your audi videos. Big thumbs up. 😀

Bit late to comment but a very useful and in depth comparison. I think options and specs have changed again as Vorsprung is no longer available and fewer options overall. I’m trying to help my partner choose her next car and the Edition 1 with C & S, storage pack, spare wheel in Navarra Blue (or possibly Daytona) looks to be the best spec and I don’t think a pano roof is available at all. As usual the m’fers websites don’t help very much in making sure you haven’t missed anything. Thanks again.
Glad it's helped, yep the options have changed quite somewhat due to the semiconductor back log. But interesting the vorsprung has now disappeared.
I agree the ed1 is probably still the best overall value for money
I've got the S line but finding the seats very firm and uncomfortable due to having issues with my back. I've ttried the alcantara seats and find them a lot more comfortable can you get the Alcantara seats or am iI better off getting a Edition 1
Hi Mark thanks for watching. I agree the s-line seats are more firm than the cushiony alcantara. I think you'd personally be better off trading the car for an editon1 as the seats will be costly if you can find them from Audi and once you've had them fitted probably no longer worth it.
Hey, If I ordered the edition 1 with the pano sunroof back in Dec with build date this month, but the sunroof was removed from the configurator month+ ago, will I get the sunroof?
Hey bro, worth giving the dealer a call.
Some subscribers have been told there car will come without. Apparently they do not have enough microchips to put in the mechanism to open/close the roof.
Definitely worth checking with them as it might well be a deal-breaker for you.
Unless there’s a dealer offer on a special edition the s line has all the kit and looks most people actually need.
Really annoying about Audi removing the extended matrix headlights option for the base S3! I want the matrix lights but also much prefer the aluminium styling over the black

Totally agree right now the only way for you to have this spec would be to choose a pre-built car that was cancelled and not registered or go up to the vorsprung.
I wonder if in the future they will bring it back or better yet if you can get the lights and swap then over (with some coding I guess)
Is the driver assistance pack available for manual gearboxes? Can select it on the configuration for s tronic boxes but not manual
Possibly not as the car will be controlling your speed, so will need to go through the gears.
With a manual the car will be limited to the gear you're in.

Best video so far. Very informative. I've now got an estimated delivery date of 30th June for my 35 tfsi tronic in daytona grey. Tht's from an 8th March order date. I've added flat bottom steering wheel, ambient lighting and alloys and happy with that other than perhaps the pan roof which does look good. Every one has different priorities, its a tricky choice. Your video will help a lot for those about to order.
My est build day is 7th June and I order in December. Count yourself lucky pal!

I've never understood how the dates vary so much depending on the dealer. Our vorsprung was ordered in December but built in January.
Maybe larger dealers have priority? Bit strange though

Lol not a stupid question at all, you'll have the technik trim and I believe this is standard on there too.
It's really weird at first (this was the first car for me that had a missing hand brake) but you get used to it after a while. You're just basically pulling a button up and down instead of a physical lever 👍🏽
@@CRD90 and, with auto hold enabled, you don’t even have to do that: when you take your foot off the brake the car holds them on until you press the accelerator (like a longer lasting hill start assist).

Yep the backs are Nappa too. If you're buying an A3 and choose the vorsprung it's the only seat available in there 👍🏽
With the UK s3 you have a choice between alcantara seats and fine Nappa leather
In my country all of the sline facts are mostly wrong. Im from germany and my sline came with the rims from vorsprung and with the big cockpit for example

Surprised you can’t get adaptive dampers / suspension, even on Vorsprung (my choice). I have a fully loaded 2017 S-line A3 TDI Quattro with all the driver aids (same as available now), matrix lights but I had flat bottom wheel and adaptive suspension. Flat wheel I can live without but no adaptive. Disappointing.

Totally agree, really strange how they're deciding the specs at the moment. I'm 99% sure when the cars first came out adaptive dampers were advertised but since been removed.

@@CRD90 Not yet. Was contemplating a Q3 45 or A3 40 both TFSI Quattro Vorsprung. Spoke to dealership. 6 months delay on both at the moment due to chips shortages.
On Q3 I understand they are limiting sunroofs to just Vorsprung to protect supply of chips.

You're absolutely right, in the UK everything is pre-specified which helps to keep the costs of the cars down but really limits you when wanting to upgrade certain options
Enjoyed the comparisons. I just picked up my A3 Edition 1 today. Opened the drivers door and noticed no memory seat function....
Audi later confirmed the memory function no longer fitted due to emissions...who new!
Apparently this has been the case since November 2020.
Frustrating but still really like the car and design is superb.

Did your car come with the electric seats? If it was a new order they should have corrected the issues
New order: Sportback A3 Edition 1 and came with electric seats. Apparently there is no issue to correct. The Sales Agent wasn’t aware and had to check with management, who confirmed Audi had removed the memory function. And this was reflected in a price reduction of approx £550 on list price.
Relates back to your previous video re: no electric seats in your A3 Saloon Edition 1...when you expected as a standard feature.
@@andreamasson9451 yep the electric seats are definitely standard, I wasn't aware they reduced the price to remove the memory function. When I compared the differences between a TDI on an sline and edition1 the difference was identical from a 35tfsi sline and edition1 which to me suggested they never reduced the price.
But they could have done it more recently I guess

Just about to order a Audi A3 35 TFSI auto Edition 1 adding the panoramic sunroof and comfort and sound pack and the comparison with the Vorsprung was very interesting. My personal opinion is the minimum anyone should go for is the s line (2k more than the sport) but there's a lot more extras.
If there's enough demand I might see if I can pull together a sport and technik review although it might not be with real cars and just purely based of the configurator

Agreed, there are sport and technik trims available in the UK, however it was difficult to find owners who had these cars to bring them to the comparison so we decided to keep it to the most popular trims.

Got an A3 2019 already, no wireless CarPlay - does the new one have that?
Two issues I found with my model is: microphone on hands free - the AC would blow directly into it when on, and it would Sound like a helicopter really - Audi said they were aware, but nothing they could change. Is that a thing in the new A3?
Second one might be negated by the wireless CarPlay - if I connect manually in my car for CarPlay like many others experienced - turning up the volume high in your car would cut off the bass and do like a vol up / down constantly. You would assume it were a universal thing - however when connected on Bluetooth, it does not happen at all. Audi mechanics heard and saw it, and blamed it on a cheap USB chip.
Does that happen in the new one?
(I have Audi speakers atm but looking to get B&O for my new one).

The new car does have it (in the UK) unsure on Denmark. I can find out from the subscriber I mentioned above.
It's funny you mention the microphone and blowers. Just this morning I tested the blowers and noticed the inner two are usually blowing much less air when the AC is set to feet and chest or chest and windscreen.
I wonder if this is to stop the problem you mentioned? So far I've never had an issue with the mic cutting out on my new Vorsprung or the old edition1.
As for the bass issue I don't really use carplay so can't comment but with android auto I always found it overwrites the inbuilt equaliser on the car. So you can't adjust it once the phones connected.

That sounds like a workaround for that exact problem - as that kinda solved it for me when holding a towel there (Did a lot of testing).
CarPlay is pretty standard in most cars now wireless so I guess it will have - ill be getting the 45tfsi-e hopefully - and from your reviews and what I saw in your videos im actually getting a saloon now myself instead, it’s so classy and beautiful really ! So thanks a bunch and great work!
Forgot to mention - I used Android Auto as well - or tested it the same way, same issue across 3 different models of Samsungs and 3 models of iPhones - then I stopped testing and figured it had go be the USB port.

I got the an S3 pan roof, mat alloys red calipers. You don't need the B&O system, the standard one is good enough. In Europe they get more choice with wheels and accessories

As always great video! As an FYI I had mentioned it in the comments on another video, but thought I’d mention it again as it might help people out! The vorsprung is meant to have a reverse camera as standard. Audi told me it’s a genuine mistake, when they removed the 360 cameras from the spec they forgot to add the standard reverse cameras. They are fixing this now. In my case as my car is past the build stage, they are fitting the reversing camera for me upon delivery. Basically, if anyone got a vorsprung I’d get in touch with Audi and get them to sort this for you aswell.
Shocking that they keep forgetting things just like that! Oh well, I’m going to enjoy my 2 years free service plan instead of the lovely electric seats 😂

Hi decided not to go for “new build” and purchased Sept 2020 DEMO 35 tfsi sline sportback . Equipment fitted standard alloys which I’m more than happy with, electric lumbar support , alloy pedals, matrix headlights, interior lighting, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise assist ,flat bottom steering wheel. Also got the full three year warranty and roadside assistance and three years Audi connect price paid £26.000. BUT the ignition stop/start button was on the LEFT hand side so there was obviously a quality control issue when the car was being built , however that is going to be rectified in a couple of days under warranty by the dealer, as usual very informative video keep up the good work looking forward to more posts.

Yeah they don't come with the matrix lights, they actually have the strangest looking lights to be honest. Might not even be LED.

Are you buying the car as a company car? In which case you'll have tax incentives to make it worthwhile.
Out of the two tfsi-e models if it was me personally buying it I would go for the same spec you are considering as the standard 40tfsie looks a bit bland in comparison to the competition pack. 👍🏽

Since there’s no auto hold button how does it work now?
When you're at a set of traffic lights and press the brake firmly the parking brake is applied (I've noticed this sometimes) then as you tap the accelerator after a milli second delay the parking brake is released and the car moves.
This might only work on a slight decline though, but I've noticed it a few times.
There's also the option to turn it on or off buried within the mmi
The lack of a physical AutoHold button is a mystery - though possibly inherited from more expensive Audis with programmable virtual buttons - and somewhat of a pain. I’m hoping Audi will make up for this omission by adding it as an option for the * button.
I turned mine on today from the MMI but really wish they didn’t remove the physical button, not like it was in the way!?
I also noticed the * button has very little to offer programmable wise..... why not drive select!? It’s like they’ve gone backwards in many ways.
@@pricey78 you’re 100% right! I could use the * button to easy access the driver select mode on my 2017 A4 Saloon. Now I can’t do this anyone in my new A3. Best option I could pick was the day/night mode for the maps 😃
Hey mate... bad news... Audi UK have pushed my build date to week 37 from week 24... because they have run out of parts of the comfort and sound pack... i mean come on.... ordered early march 2021 and now not here til Oct 2021... 7months on an order arrrrrrgh

Great video 👍 for anyone buying an A3, don’t buy anything lower than the S-Line. I have the Sport model (company car) and the seats are really unsupportive and uncomfortable on longer journeys. Trust me it will be worth the extra cost and the residuals should be much higher when you come to sell.

I have 2 Problems noticed:
First one:
Is it possible that the LED-Stripe on the right front door isnt lights steady?
all doors are fine expect the front right one.
Its more intense in the back then in the front.
Audi changed (according to them) my LED-Stripe; but its still the same error.
second problem:
Set your ventilation on full blow and then set your vent arrow on your feet or on your windshield.
Hold your hand in front of your left airvent (the one left from the steering wheel)
Is air coming out of it?
On the right side there is no air coming out
Audi cant fix this problem

Just tried this out for you.
1) my ambient light strip is the same as the others even when I look at it from underneath all the individual LEDs seem to be working.
2) my inner vents (left from the steering wheel and closest passenger vent next to the mmi) only have noticeable air when at least part of the air is pointing towards the chest. If I set it to fully windscreen or fully feet then the inner vents stop blowing.
I think this is probably down to more air being pushed through the lower vents / windscreen.
Main thing on this one it seems like that's the way it's supposed to work 👍🏽

Its subtle but its there. Maybe Audi did not change my strip. I only notice it in full darkness.
attached is a picture. Most noticble is red and white on the lowest setting.
2) I just checked this and you are right, the most left and most right vent are still blowing air even if its on windscreen mode. The "inner vents" dont do that.
I dont think thats how it should work to be honest. if i want my air on my windscreen i want it only there; my other cars could do that :D

And yeah not sure on the design reason behind the vents as I would have expected lower power but all vents working, probably cost saving??
