SOG Prairie Fire is the only reason i knew about macVsog. and people say you dont learn anything from gameing. now i am down the rabbit hole watching all the interviews i can get.
These guys are all glad to have the opportunity to tell their stories but there is zero ego or any hint of a brag with any of them. Total quiet warriors.
Jim's only regret was not getting to be a jet fighter pilot! Wow! As a retired career Marine Corps and Air National Guard tactical jet pilot, I'm humbled by that. I have to say that as a supreme adventure addicted adrenaline junkie like Jim, there's no comparison between what he did and I did. I had plenty of fun and adventure as an A-4, A-6, and F-4 pilot, but nothing in the world like Jim experienced in his amazingly eclectic and unique military career! As a jet jockey, usually the only purple heart you get is awarded posthumously. On every SOG mission Jim had, he was facing at least a 75% chance of being killed or wounded. I salute you, Jim, for everything you did for our flag and country. Special thanks for your extraordinary effort to recover the remains of those two brother F-4 pilots. Semper Fidelis, Semper Amici, Brother, and welcome home! 🐻🇺🇲
Bring an Army veteran I take immense pride in my MACV-SOG brothers. My brothers were writing THE BOOK - /SOP/TTP for SOF. I love these stories and my respect if it’s possible just continues to grow and grow. Love and respect my brothers.
May God Bless you and your family sir. Merry Christmas. A heartfelt bow to you sir for your service and sacrifice to our beautiful country. I if able will never forget your time in uniform.
I’m 60 year old army veteran.. and to this day , I’m completely fascinated and totally impressed by the MACV/SOG guys and their missions in Vietnam….old school badassery !mixed with pure intestinal fortitude and human intelligence..Not dependent completely on Technology, No ISR platforms, no GpS etc ….. nothing against all that , but it was a true Warriors environment !! Keep up the great work mike ,I would love to see more of these guys on the show…. I would love to visit a MACV/SOG museum!! We must remember these warriors and all that they contributed and never forget their sacrifice. Charlie Mike brother !!
His memory is so sharp and he is so intelligent. Please get him back on to tell more stories mike. I’ve listened to everything SOG and Carrot is one of the best.
Amazing interview. This has to be one of the best I've watched in a good while. I remember a PJ extending a last minute invite to me for a day patrol/ride a long. Being the loyal knucklehead I've always been, I said I needed to put in 2 weeks notice to call off work. Woke up at 3am the next morning and have been kicking myself ever since.
Fantastic interview. Grew up around WW2, Korean and Vietnam vets. Great respect for all of them. WW2 vets literally saved the world and then just came home and acted like nothing even happened. Korean vets got fed to the wolves but still saved South Korea against impossible odds only to be ignored and forgotten. Vietnam vets never stood a chance thru no fault of their own. Got treated like dirt by our government and the American people. They all deserved better from the country that sent them. Knowing all that I still joined after 9/11. It was the right thing to do even though the politicians screwed us over from day one. Thanks for interviewing men like this while you still can. Thanks for everything else you and others like you are doing to raise awareness and keep us informed.
I seen pics of the "wild carrot" in SOG books. ive watched several of his podcast interviews. he has a.remarkably calm, peaceful demeanor. Salute!!! Jim the Patriot Gentleman.
I can tell that the host is very attentive and focused on listening to the speaker's story, showing a passionate gaze. The interaction flows beautifully-it's amazing!
Love the vietnam stories, Mike. It's important for you and guys like you to get their stories told. They aren't getting any younger. My uncle did 2 tours as a marine in Vietnam and is no longer with us due to agent orange complications. I really wish I had gotten to hear his story, but he never liked to talk about it.
I truly enjoy this gentlemans story very inspiring as well as interesting. You can tell what a humble and smart individual this man is and with zero ego. I also love the way Mike interviews people down to earth and very honest. Thank you Mike and Jim for an hour or more of riveting story telling and great chemistry between two Army Heros!!
Interesting interview👍 Loved listening to your conversation with this oldschool warrior, two different generation Green berets💪👍 Keep up the great work Mike😃💪
Outstanding interview. The country is truly blessed to have men like "WILD CARROT JONES ". May you have as much peace as possible sir. PTSD is a lifelong challenge. Like you said, the little room and sights, sounds, smells etc etc. Shit happens, awareness, cope and move on. You are loved and respected, prayers.
I am prior army 13b. At 45 years old, these guys are my heroes. you too Mike. It's your mentality, the sheer force of will that may come naturally to you but make no mistake..it's rare. Thank you for your service gents.
This guy is incredible. As an army brat, I’ve been reading about SOG for years and don’t remember these stories about PO/SGT/Dr. Jim! I’m going to have to go back and read my library again. What an outstanding life story- and he’s got many more years to go. Thank you both for sharing.
Hey Mike loving these pod casts keep it up, speaking of jumps C1/508 pir had the division record for unassing the aircraft.that was 1975 .We were real lucky our first Sgt was in 7th group nam Mike force, he hooked it up and we would run into teams training and they shared there experiences in Vietnam,we loved these men they had all of our attention they were like a big Brothers.
Can’t get over sog and the stories it is truly insane I got a few of tilts books for Christmas and it’s the first thing I honestly read since middle school I’m not even from America but the missions these guys were doing are nothing short of mind blowing I will consume any and all sog content
He is on heavy meds for this PTDS, dry mouth, kind of a auto pilot guide I call it. Good man that misses his friends because are corrupt government. I love you brother TY for your service.
He talks about so many exemplary men what balls these guys had. Unbelievable stuff you gotta love this. He talks about what all of us men wished we were or could be. Legendary
@JumpingJimmyJet, man, you look 50 bud not a day older. If that my goodness, man. You must have found the fountain of youth over there or your Viet girl had some special thing
I lived in Nha Trang for a while. Looking out west to the mountains, driving from Cam Ranh to Nha Trang, it looks forboding even now. I can't imagine being out there back then. When is someone going to make a movie about these legendary men?
The SOG warriors were a unique breed. Keeping what they did and saw secret for so long had to be harder than anyone can imagine. God Bless them. They are true hero's doing what they were asked.
My dad used to know a former Green Beret who served in Vietnam, his name was Jim Daniels, he was a cool guy, he claimed to have blown up the North Vietnamese President's house, he wasn't home though.
Hi! If you get again MACV-SOG Veteran to an interview could you please be kind of enough to ask do they remember Lauri Törni aka Larry Thorne? They should because he was a legend already at that time in Green Berets. He was in MACV-SOG and also was Winter War Hero for Finland. He fought under 3 flags.
LETTTSSSS FUCKKINGGGG GOOOOOOOOOO WILD CARROT. also would love to see some of these sog warrior go on Joe rogan podcast maybe alongside another sog warrior or a vet from modern day US conflict

Different breed 😂
Amen, absolutely silent hero’s and should get all the notoriety as possible. 💪🏽💯🇺🇸
Any others you recommend? I saw John Stryker Meyer
Gosh, he is atleast mid 70's and still a picture of optimism, enthusiasm, and vigor. We should all count our blessings and strive to live like that!

As a Texan I agree that Alberta seems to be the Texas of Canada. I've thought that for a long time. Respect.
@pathwalkerrising-phoenix3683 We certainly share a lot of the values as you guys down south of the border. 51st state sounds pretty good.
