As an esthetician we are allowed to massage the face, neck and arms from the elbow down to the hand not the shoulders, back and anything else. You need a massage license for that. You should check into it with your state and County.
Yes, check with your state. We aren't allowed to do deep tissue, but we can do superficial massage. It also depends on your state and what is and what isn't allowed. Some places are more strict. I'm in washington, it can't be deep tissue. For that, you do indeed need to become a massage therapist. But for back facials, massage is beneficial for the skin and blood circulation, so superficial is allowed.
The traps elevate the shoulders not arms. Some of her techniques were harmful to her wrist. So stay away from that palm swipe. I'm dual license in massage and aesthetic. It's really important to consult with a massage therapist when giviing instructions on massage and where to massage on the neck. You don't press around the ear. Drainage and swollen lymph nodes are common so if not sure, it's best to stay clear from that area.
It honestly depends on how and where you are trained as a Cidesco, Cibtac trained therapist and Masters diploma in Swedish Massage, Aromatherapy and Reflexology, this is the best tutorial I've seen, none of her techniques are wrong.
Muscle mechanics is muscle mechanics. You just gave a spa resume that holds no weight to my medical. You said, it depends on training. Not all training is good training.
She got the origin and insertion correct for the trapezius and it's one of the muscle groups used for rotating the arm among other uses as well ! "pressing around the ear" what response is that even?? there's many lymph nodes situated above the shoulder and by the ear, are you referring to the preauricular or posterior auricular?/ if you are indeed a licensed aethetic not a "esthetic" then please use correct terminology for the lymph nodes and please educate the people on here a bit more instead of trash talking this woman's training. By "Medical" I'm assuming you not a Doctor right? There's many trained and qualified medicals that do a lousy job of treating people correctly so please be more constructive than critical! -She is relevant to the industry and has done the necessary training. Massage above the shoulders is within her scope of practice and I'm sure she's licensed to practice so your comments are unnecessary and irrelevant to anyone who is properly trained and licensed in this industry. Just because you are a trained medical Aesthethic and dual licensed massage therapist doesn't make you a licensed and trained Esthethic and doesn't give you the right to say that what she is doing is wrong.
I don't comment much on UA-cam but I'm gonna go for it, this lady knows what she is doing, Thank you
