Heather Alisa I’ve had the iPad (3rd) since they came out. I recently upgraded to the iPad Pro after seeing it a few months back. My old iPad still works so well, I’ve always had it in a good case etc. but now it can’t be updated or get the latest apps. It’s also getting quite buggy. It’s a huge jump to the iPad Pro but I’m loving it and hoping to use it more for coll n stuff. If I get a few years out of the iPad Pro like my old one it will be worth the price as I’d def can’t be upgrading year lol. I just need to find a good case like my old one to keep it protected. Any one have any more apps they’d recommend?
With regards to recording audio on a notes app, I use Notability during client meetings. You can take notes and record audio at the same time, and even better than this, when you playback the audio you can tap on a word that you wrote during the meeting and the audio playback will find this point of the discussion so you can quickly listen to the right point of conversation. It’s great.
I disagree. I’ve tried a few different matte screen protectors from iCarez, Tech Armor, etc. The PaperLike ones are ever so slightly better and offer a bit more resistance for my use. The difference might be subtle for some, but for me it’s enough that I prefer the PaperLike. I say this as someone who draws and illustrates with the Apple Pencil. As with any matte screen protector there’s the trade off of screen quality vs having a bit more resistance when using the Apple Pencil. For me as well as many other artists & illustrators the added resistance when using the Apple Pencil is what we’d choose.
Great video! I highly recommend you to put the apps name on the screen/video (like on the bottom left of the screen) while you talk about the app. Make it easier for those who unfamiliar with the app to make comparison between them.
hardieo You read my mind . It’s a great way to help us know the name of the app his talking about. instead of putting it under the description of the video .
I really enjoy your videos but I wish you would write out the names of the apps on the screen when you mention them. You talk fast and I can't quite decipher them. Thanks
Just got my iPad Pro for Christmas. Loving it already for my artwork! So much nicer than when I was working in Procreate with iPad Air 2 and a stylus and/or finger.
As an engineer, I love to utilize several of the apps that are useful for my workflow, most notably: - Termius; allows me SSH access into a university super computer that I run simulations off of - Shapr3D; the best (and pretty much only) CAD software that allows me to make quick edits to Solidworks files I create at work
I don't have an iPad at all and i'm interested in buying one which would mainly be for drawing with the apple pen (also for photo editing and probably will be used for stuff like watching youtube and netflix). The only thing that i do not at all care about no matter what iPad i end up getting is the camera... I probably will transfer photos onto the iPad, but i wont be using that thing as a camera... The point is i don't need a camera that is 'better' if it's already 'good'. I just don't know which i should get? I'm thinking pro gen. 2 or gen. 3. (with biggest screen available). So have a few questions if anyone wants to help me out :) - Which apple pencil is better? Which is sturdier of the two? Is there even a difference between them? (Other than the older version having a really bad charging system, and the newer version with better charging system + the double tap feature). - I really like the new screen on the iPad Pro gen. 3 + its' more square design... Since it's so thin i worry though. Which of the two iPads is sturdier? How much of a difference is there in sturdiness? Enough for it to matter? If the iPad Pro gen. 3 is the least sturdy, Is there any protecting covers that will make up for that? - I see that there is a lot of features on the gen. 3 that are very useful such as: Availability of Adobe Photoshop, multitasking, USB-C and probably a lot of stuff that i'm forgetting right now. Are all these features worth it? -Based on what i will be using it for, What iPad do you think think i should get? I'm not made of money, but is the new iPad Pro worth the higher price? Thanks in advance and also sorry for the long comment.
I love Paper so much. To me it’s really been the app that embodies the simplistic iPad feel. Also when it comes to quick sketches, I find the pencil tool in Paper providing the best pencil-like feeling.
"Apps" That is my biggest problem with iPad Pro at the moment, i wish apple will give us proper Mac OS so we can use desktop based programs on this definitely capable piece of hardware
The problem is that they are always apps as long as they come from the "App Store". Some call Final Cut an app. Some call Photoshop an app. Affinity designer for some reason is a desktop *program*, but an iPad *app* even though the feature set is the same, just organized differently? It's not about what it's called, it's about what it does. you can call a TON of iPad "apps" programs, because of what they do. They are just called apps because they are used on a tablet OS. The only thing that restricts them is the definition, which is absurd. Yeah, no Maya, Autocad, Nuke, Blender, C4D, Ae, Ai, Xd and whatnot on the iPad, but it slowly progresses...
Ah you're great. I've said this before and I'll say it again - you have a great character and it's what earned you my sub a couple months ago. You do very well providing an unbiased opinion while still giving credit where it is due. Great balance. Your tone of voice isn't annoying but still attention-grabbing. Great design, coordination and cinematography. There isn't any pettifogging and you get straight to the point, and when you do go off on a tangent it's still useful information relating to the topic. Very underrated UA-camr.
I bought my iPad Pro 12.9 for sheet music. It fits on the music stand; I can scribble notes on it during rehearsals; and it’s big enough to see. I can turn pages with my foot pedal. ForScore is my favourite app for performing music. For composing and arranging I love ScoreCloud. This use is quite widespread among musicians- it’s not just me, so check it out!
I like Scrivner better than Ulysses or any other writing app. I also like GoodNotes, but Notability offers the ability to play back recorded audio and show you what notes you were taking at that exact time. That is HUGE for meeting and classroom notes, and GoodNotes doesn’t offer that ability.
Can’t stand Ulysses since they went subscription. They were already one of the most expensive writing apps, heavily promoted on the App Store and doing very well and then they got greedy. Scrivener is excellent with so many cool features and nice layout, it is not iCloud which is really annoying if you have a Mac or pc. Dropbox just isn’t as seamless.
Sheet music app, ForScore is absolutely great. The 12.9 size I-ad is about the same size as regular sheet music. You can carry a great deal of sheet music readily available. I love it
Loved the ideas here, however, what would be useful is to pinpoint what apps really are the best. For example, you mention Notes, Drafts and several other note taking tools. What’s the best for various use cases? Right now I’m in a situation where my notes are spread all over, meaning it can be hard to find content. Same with all the sketching apps you mention.
I understand that subscription based apps are becoming the new norm (I can download an alarm clock app for free that won’t work unless I pay $25/month), but I’m not going to pay for a subscription.
Same but with my 12.9 Inch. I wish a device with the same screen but less horsepower was sold for less but unfortunately if you want the best you have to pay the price :)
Sorry mate, I know it's your sponsor and all that but Paperlike doesn't have free shipping worldwide. I wanted to get one for my new ipad pro, but the shipping price was actually double the price of the screen protector.
I use clip studio paint instead of procreate, it's basically a desktop app on iPad even has all of the animation feature, imo worth the small subscription
I just wish you could hook up an external hard drive to the iPad then I may use the horse power of the iPad Pro 11. I can only afford the 64gb version.
uouo vlog I think it’s worth it, I got the 256 gb version for $800 from Costco but that deal is over, I think you can still get the 64 gb one for $30 less and the 256 gb one for $50 less at Costco 👍
uouo vlog I got it for $800 and for the 256gb model... bestbuy hooked it up... and I love it, I bought a Bluetooth keyboard from Amazon which was under $80 and lasts like 2 weeks on a single charge.... I love my iPad Pro I had tablets before but this is amazing doesn’t come close, I’m looking to buy another keyboard that’s all metal alloy and willl make it look like a MacBook Pro and even better battery life which is amazing because I think 2 weeks battery life is awsum but this one has like 3 months to 6 months which is bonkers... oops sorry I wrote a an essay lol
I also used to use Notability but after I bought the New iPad Pro 12.9 inch, I switched back to Notes and Love it. I use notability to sign pdfs, fill forms and going paperless. Apple notes meets my needs perfectly. Love how it integrates so well across devices.
I like how there's so much content in this video, very detailed and pretty straight to the point. I like how some points were said at the start of the video as well as the essential information posted on the description.
Thank you. Been waiting for this. I take a screen shot of the listed apps you talk about, put it in notes and research them when I have time. Please understand, videos like these, help me expand the the capability’s of my iPad Pro an being more productive. Thanks again.
I just got mine today. You should tell everyone to order a USB male to USB C male cable, otherwise you can't connect to itunes on a PC (unless you have a USB C port). It seems like the Apps store dropped some apps that I use everyday on my ipad2, and the only way to get them on my new ipad is to use itunes to clone everything to the pro by using "restore from backup," which will also transfer all my passwords and such. A cord adapter cost the same as another cord with USB, so you're better off having 2 cords, one being the USB to USB C cord. Then you can also use older ipad power modules if need be. What you should also recommend is a cover, a REAL cover, that protects the 4 corners. If you ever drop your ipad, landing on a corner will be BAD. And lastly, I stopped using screen covers ever since the very first one I applied to my iphone4. I hated the orange-peel look on my screen and promptly ripped it off. I've never scratched or damaged a screen in all the years I've had iphones/ipad. I did by cases/covers for them, but nothing for/on the screen.
I think sometimes people just have a personal preference on apps.I prefer Art studio pro for image editing for instance over more popular apps like Procreate.
I've had my Pro for two or three years now and honestly it's fun for kid stuff, Netflix, and using while I'm in the bathroom. I don't see any use for it in trying to do any real work on. I'm not paying for apps on it when I get those free on my desktop Windows Ten PC and I know it can run anything. Nah, good for Spotify and keeping kids quiet on a long flight or drive but nothing I would rely on for company use.
Have you tried OneNote on the iPad? I take meeting notes on it, sketch ideas, etc and they’re immediately synch’d with OneNote on my laptop and for anyone else I share the notebook with. A tablet is much better than a laptop in a meeting because it doesn’t create an artificial barrier between you and the people on the other side of the table, like a laptop screen does. We also use iPads on site surveys and they’re great.
great app selection. need to check out some of those. Procreate and taking digital handwritten notes were my main reasons to get the iPad Pro - that was before the iPad 2018 also got pencil support. I’m loving it 😍
Why does no tech reviewer talk about onenote? Best notes app by FAR, coming from someone who only takes electronic notes. Handwriting integration is great, has typing options, and the desktop version is packed with useful features.
Everyone does overviews and reviews, pros and cons, likes and don’t likes. What would be nice is a series of videos of harnessing the power of iOS and iPad for the non tech users. How to use your iPad more effectively in daily life, simple tips of making syncing your tech with iPhone and watches. I like your channel allot, I’ve bought many things from Huckberry. I’m always ready to subscribe, but then something Broncos comes up, and I pull my finger back ;)
So u are still on the old iPad Pro...I just received my 12.9 iPad pro 13 os are u going to update ur info? I’m an older user like ancient but I’ve been tech savvy since the early 90’s and I love the technology. I have a room full of iMacs, 4 lap tops and this is my 7th iPad...so please let me know what’s new?
Love your video, some apps you mentioned I recognize, but some I haven't heard of like Darkroom, Cinemagraph Pro, Nebo and Mindnote. These sound like great and useful apps. Thank you for putting this video together, it is very informative. I am hoping that Adobe is working on making full version of their apps for the I-Pad Pro, since by now, Photoshop is available. I hope Illustrator and InDesign will also be on the I-Pad Pro as well as Dimension and Adobe XD. The Adobe Maxx Conference will be the first Monday in November this year, and looking forward to seeing that.
Hi Chris, I took your advice and checked out your previous Amazing iPad tips video. Your tip to press on the files icon to bring up files is awesome. I liked it so much I rearranged my dock to accommodate the files app dead center. Powerful tip. Thanks!
Hi so glad I found you. My Ipad Pro is coming my husband ordered it two days ago so it should be here next week. Very excited to go back to an apple product. I've been addicted to Samsungs since the Notes came out. Now frankly I want to not have yo do do much to put my tablet together. Frankly I just want many things decided for me so I don't honestly need all the controls. I'm an artist not a computer programmer. The ire reason I want an apple product back is noting out there is as good as the music from IOS. Imiss ut nd uts n t even on my vomputers anymire and I soend 1000.00s on cds and books rtc. Looking firward to opening u my files sgsin, shoukd . They still be available to me? Frankly the reason I requested an Ipad is for an app called "The Knit Companion" that is on IOS and Samsung but on IOS it is loaded with features that you just can't get on Samsungs. My creative juices have drawn me back to my first intoduction into color and patterns in fibers. Fabrics and wallpapers. My father was an interior designer and his fabric books for drapery and upolostered fabrics were my comic books and my reading mstrrials. After mostly retiring from my arts career "jobs" of deadlines, traveling for shows and to teach coast to coast, I will be saving money and the planet on using less paper and less bulk to move information about or have available for use. So amen to that but ontop of all that I can start turing my arts into something involving video editing which looks incredibally fun after viewing the possible cools apps available to digitize my art. I'll be able to upload it and make instructional videos by recreating the articles and books I've been featured in and or published others via "blind juroring process", TM by "To Clay or Not To Clay" That I created to help other artist excellerate their careers. I develpoed the business model and proceeded to hold live exabitions and printed exhibits published to be in corporated into calendars/datekeepers always keeping the pulse of inspiration high just by glancing at your calendar something many of us do several times a day. I'll be recreating the many demonstrations I did at trade conventions and all the classes I've taught in person. Turning them into a new and permenat struture of video content. I am a new subscriber so you shoukd be sering my name in the omment section. Thank you thus looks li e it wil be extreemly helpful gir me as I transition back to Apple with your channel. I am looking forward to learning a lot from you. I'm Trudy most people just call me, Tru. Nice to meet you. Sorry so long but it may be helpful to know who your target audience is.
Loving this man and his tech. Videos are very informative and well illustrated. I was thinking of returning the ipad pro 11, I bought a week ago. Hate the apple accessories, so flimsy and no color choices. Hellllp
I would never buy any of those apps that are on subscription, after reading some of the reviews of a few but Great Video, tells me what not to buy and look for alternatives
Outstanding video. Thank you very much Chris. I also have to check your other iPad Pro videos, as I'm looking for an app, in which I can draw on a scanned doc (pdf), or a photo template of nails in various shapes to draw/create nail art before actually grabbing a bottle of gel polish. Have a nice weekend, and thanks again
Nice and all but why don't you implement the titles of the apps that you're showing? What's the name of the calculator? vivo calc 2 nivo calc 2? tivo calc 2 whut?
Note ability is fantastic as I can use iPad MacBook iMac pro. Plus great pen to text.really dark or Lightroom. But is dark iOS only??? Love my iPad but iMac pro is a power machine so have to stay adobe since there fixing us up. What is the photo movie thing for photo with movement. Program. ??? You have won me as a subscriber. Great tips. Just have to find the photo with movement one.
Hey I was wondering if you (or anyone else) knows of a way to use Apple Watch as a pause play and volume remote for the iPad Pro. Wouldn’t that be an awesome feature??
Just wonder.... my iPad pro to some apps ...it crashes and activating the camera is lagging, several time I have to tap or reopen the camera until it shows the object to capture
This has got to be one of your best, most organized, easy to navigate videos ever! Let me rephrase - this IS the best, most organized, easy to navigate vide on UA-cam. All the hard work you put in to this video is so evident. Shows us how much you care about us! Thank you and keep up the awesome work! Love this type of content! If I could subscribe twice, I would. :)
I used to hate apple products after my first ipod from many years ago but now that I'm trying to pursue art and graphic arts and seeing that just about everyone is using ipad and procreate and all the art stuff, I am sold again on apple. The power of influence huh? If it wasn't for everyone pushing for apple in arts field I'd probably never try apple again. I'll be buying the 2017 ipad pro though hopefully I'm making a good investment. Thank you for this video, I thought it was great
Hi! I need your help! I'm a professional photograph and I've to choose between Notebook Pro 2018 and I-Pad Pro 2018. I need FS and LR for my photos: which is the better fro me?. Another question: if I chhose I-Pad Pro 12 2018 256gb: is possible to integrate-it with some external SD for add the memory the more possible?. If "positive", can you tell me the exact name of this external SD...?. MTKS Walter Rome Italy
Go with the iPad, a dongle will allow you to use an sd card. There is also many options for photo editing and you really can’t go wrong with most of them.
Your video was very helpful for me, so thank's for that ;) But how do you do this little preview thing on the files app at 9:33? I've got my ipad pro yesterday and i'm still searching for some handy functions and that seems like it is one.
OK, I searched for it on the web and in the Apple app store and I find Nebo Calculator 2 is nowhere to be found, if it is actually a thing where can it be found?
Hi, thanks for the great info. Id love to know about a video editing app that allows you to make many masks and layers and create multiple waterfalls and trees, flowers, plants, etc to assemble layer after layer, move them around just like photoshop like a magical utopia, blockbuster movie :).. any thoughts? I know how to do this in photoshop but not sure about a video app that can do the same thing to my videos?
Would you recommend it without the pencil? I don't particularly care for the pen and I don't do anything related to photo/video editing and just need it for media consumption. What would you recommend for the basic iPad user? I have an 8th Gen iPad but the screen is cracked and I am one of those latest and greatest type of people lol
I use my ipad pro for all of my home stuff and helping my wife with her schooling (scanning papers, paying bills, typing out her notecards on quizlet lol.) Other than that its my media machine and main gaming machine.

I love my iPad Pro 11 inch I plan to keep it as long as it lasts (hopefully 5-7 years) and I love to watch Netflix and write on goodnotes
What the longest you’ve had an iPad last?
I feel like my ipad pro is gonna last for maybe a year because its very delicate. Still a good ipad though
almost everything is over 20 bucks

Leanne i use a keyboard logitech’s slim folio is A1
I use my ipad pro for everything....love it and when ipadOS drops.....game over
Why isn't anybody talking about that sick pen flip at 0:54?
I do it all the time 😂👏🏻👏🏻
Everyone loves doing that 😂👏
I do that when I need ideas to draw it’s very entertaining for some reason 😂
Yas! I try it!

I appreciate the wide screen filming, it fits my Samsung galaxy s9+ almost perfectly. Cant wait for my iPad pro to arrive tomorrow !
Paperlike... Totally overpriced for a regular matt screen protector.
Giregar Especially because it ruins the beautiful screen.. I hated it.

@@HaroldsMind Nice to hear that you found a screen protector that works for you. I sketch super fast, so I love the slippery glass!!
Wenceslao Futanaki I got a offbrand on amazon for $7 and it is amazing. Don’t waste $35 on paperlike.
0:54 Thanks man, now im gonna be spinning the pencil like that for the next couple years

How about a written list of the apps you recommend; many apps vary by just one letter and you can easily get a different one.
I use my ipad pro 11 for trading stocks. Made my money back in 8 hours. Happy customer.

What apps do you use for that if you don’t mind me asking?
Can't bedlieve you didn't include any music creation apps. It was the one main reason I bought an iPad Pro.

Lol

Sam C The 2nd generation iPad Pro is the only device that fits that description.
What a waste. You could do that on the $350 entry level ipad
Sorry mate, I know it's your sponsor and all that but Paperlike doesn't have free shipping worldwide. I wanted to get one for my new ipad pro, but the shipping price was actually double the price of the screen protector.

After giving it some thought, the Pro seemed more style than substance for the money so I went for the Air 3. Works well enough
Love the video man, been loving my iPad Pro. I only have the 1st gen but still works like a tank. keep them coming.
I have it too 😄

uouo vlog I got it for $800 and for the 256gb model... bestbuy hooked it up... and I love it, I bought a Bluetooth keyboard from Amazon which was under $80 and lasts like 2 weeks on a single charge....
Hey Chris, what is your opinion about iPad Pro 9,7 inch ??
Scrivener belongs on this list. Best writing software.
Ulysses for me. By far. Goes in tastes I guess
Back in the early '00's until late' 00's the think pad x201t with Ms one note was the best note taking combo
I just bought my first iPad six generation one an open box from Best Buy for 220 can’t beat that
Jamesmichael Cabrera they go for $250 brand new
Thank you. Been waiting for this. I take a screen shot of the listed apps you talk about, put it in notes and research them when I have time. Please understand, videos like these, help me expand the the capability’s of my iPad Pro an being more productive.
Thanks again.
Awesome! Glad you liked it!
Content Consumption apps alone and the features The iPad Pro 2nd and 3rd generations offer make the purchase worth it for me!
"Andy Mineo" - I see you brother. 😎😇
Could have legends with the name of each app?
Dude Andy Mineo is the best🔥
I think sometimes people just have a personal preference on apps.I prefer Art studio pro for image editing for instance over more popular apps like Procreate.
Procreate has just barebones image editing tools because that’s not its purpose so no wonder you prefer something else.
I do lots of Math and physics at school, what’s the best app for writing equations?
John Barrett you should check out notability
I’m always ready to subscribe, but then something Broncos comes up, and I pull my finger back ;)
Is the iPad Pro 9.7 inch a good purchase if you're on a budget?
Im happy with my ipad pro 10.5/ i will change it 3 years later maybe
Hi Chris, I took your advice and checked out your previous Amazing iPad tips video. Your tip to press on the files icon to bring up files is awesome. I liked it so much I rearranged my dock to accommodate the files app dead center. Powerful tip. Thanks!
Great content as usual. Awesome apps... man, nothing beats iPad and I don't even own one yet!
Paper app blew me away! I think I gasped for a moment!
I was lucky I made a iPad Pro choice from I can choose iPhone, alien ware13 or iPad Pro. Thanks for you video
I want iOS to include the file management abilities that OSX has.
Can you use another stylus pen on the iPad Pro? Or does the apple pen only work?
I don't know why I ended up on this video because I definitely can't afford an iPad but I appreciate your approach to YouTubing!
It looks so good but is there a better tablet that's not with apple that's good for notes and art?
Loving this man and his tech. Videos are very informative and well illustrated. I was thinking of returning the ipad pro 11, I bought a week ago. Hate the apple accessories, so flimsy and no color choices. Hellllp
Just wait until the Adobe Photoshop app is released. It will push the iPad Pro to its limit. That program is heavy as hell.
I would never buy any of those apps that are on subscription, after reading some of the reviews of a few but Great Video, tells me what not to buy and look for alternatives
Exactly what I needed to see. You covered the 4 categories I was most concerned with. Thanks for sharing!
Have a nice weekend, and thanks again
questions : do the paperlike screen guard will scrape away the apple pencil nibs?
For me : byword, Adobe Comp, Graphic, Textastic.
Anyone else having a problem finding the Dictate & Share app?
Felicia F yeah, it seems to be a separate app to download, but when I went to download it, it says that iOS 13 is required. Mmmm
Nice and all but why don't you implement the titles of the apps that you're showing? What's the name of the calculator? vivo calc 2 nivo calc 2? tivo calc 2 whut?
This video, unlike most videos on youtube is actually helpfull, Thanks
You should check out Bear its a great app for both notes and writing.
Wish they’d just make tips for the apple pencil that have resistance.
11six I'm unashamed!!! Awesome video Chris God bless.
Is there a calculator app that lets you drop the app over the top of other apps so you don’t have to go back and forth between apps.
Broooooooooo! Thanks man.
Nice job- obviously a lot of work on this video. Cheers!
I like your speaking and video, but you shoul really put the written names into your videos.
If you are a musician, OnSong is indispensable!
I got the ipad air 3, is there anything productivity wise i cannot do that the ipad pro can do?
Just got a 256gb 2017 pro 10.5 inch with keyboard and pencil for $430
approximately how many memories do those apps take from your hard drive
Can i get also word, excel, PowerPoint like on the macbook pro on the ipad?
Your video was very helpful for me, so thank's for that ;)
But how do you do this little preview thing on the files app at 9:33? I've got my ipad pro yesterday and i'm still searching for some handy functions and that seems like it is one.
why not a ms surface + pen ?
OK, I searched for it on the web and in the Apple app store and I find Nebo Calculator 2 is nowhere to be found, if it is actually a thing where can it be found?
Is procreate free? I wanna buy an ipad pro just to draw is it worth it?
For basic use I’d only get the pro if you wanted to “future proof” your performance for many years to come
Apple should buy up Myscript Nebo and add the function directly in Notes
I use Adobe Photoshop Sketch on my iPad Pro at the moment, but I’m trying to find a different app to draw with.
Procreate
Does any app convert your written mathematical equation to text?
I use my ipad pro for all of my home stuff and helping my wife with her schooling (scanning papers, paying bills, typing out her notecards on quizlet lol.) Other than that its my media machine and main gaming machine.
