    The late 50s and 60s were great years and the best days of my life. I'm now 79, and I would go back to the 60s at a drop of a hat.

    It’s wonderful to see Alma at her radiant best. Wouldn’t it be fantastic if there were more lost gems from Alma found and released once again.

    I lived in a pub in Addlestone then. The Wagon and Horses. We had a juke box in the dart room, rare, first Cliff I remember was Travelling Light. When you think the Billy Cotton Bandshow was big then, this was revolutionary. Tommy Steele, Lonnie Donegan, all started off the 60s. Pete Murray and 6/5 Special etc.

    The undeniable treat here is the bass turned up loud and distinctive. Sadly often mixed nearly mixed right out on the records we bought at the time. The called it hifi, but unless the family could afford a readio station quality sound system, it were difficult to hear all that was happening on the recording. Alma cogan was music business establishment. My aunt, not much older than myself, bought all Alma's recordings sat around with her friends from pharmacy college smiling and swaying like a field of golden daffodils 😂

    Super !

      votre commentaire me touche particulièrement ..je suis né en 1952 et j'ai découvert les Shadows en 66( blue star et shadoogie sur un 46 Tours de juke box ) depuis , c'est la même chose ...étant fêlé de musiques ( jazz , blues , rock , pop , classique ) les Shadows sont mon fil rouge ( comme la strat de Marvin ! ) c'est plus qu'une passion . Je les écoute très régulièrement et a chaque fois , c'est le même émerveillement Pour info j'ai ici deux playlists ou apparaissent quelques titres des Shad's que j'essaie d'interpréter le moins mal possible ....car jouer comme Marvin , seul lui sait le faire ( il y aussi d'autres instrumentaux de tous styles .environ 300 ) ma chaine existe sur le pseudo '' JcP jean-claude . "" bonne soirée . Je pense que c'est bien Tony Meehan à la batterie ...plus tard , il a mis TONY sur le grosse caisse .

      @@jcpjean-claude4446 Merci pour ce retour et cela fait toujours plaisir lorsque quelqu'un partage votre passion...Je pense m'être arrêté quelques sur fois JcPjean-claude et entre autres, car le "Shadows tribute " est très vaste non seulement pour l'Europe mais aussi pour le monde entier...C'est dire si la musique et le style des Shads ont compté pour beaucoup à travers le monde ...Quelques fois on a le sentiment de tout connaître à propos des Shadows et parfois on reste surpris par la découverte de quelques perles rares que les seuls les vrais collectionneurs, anglais surtout, possèdent...C'est sans doute pour cela mais pas seulement, que je navigue sur UA-cam en m'arrêtant sur ce que me propose la chaîne connaissant mes préférences...Je suis un peu "cossard" mais depuis qu'il a UA-cam et la possibilité d'avoir des "backing tracks, la vie d'un fan pratiquant la guitare, s'en trouve facilitée et les tutos par des bons (il y en a tellement) avec le son et le phrasé impeccable ne manquent pas non plus... (Gégé, Phil Mc Garrick, Suaragitar et tant d'autres...) Passion ou addiction ?

    This is why the Beatles were put into suits. Money making establishment making sure they appealed to the mums and dads but the whole point of rock and roll was to rebel. Cliff and the Shads sold out sadly but then they weren't the only ones.

    • @Lily_The_Pink972
      @Lily_The_Pink972 2 місяці тому +2

      I understand why you say that, but their music is as popular today as it was back then. Cliff's tours are always sold out with fans going multiple times. And Cliff still performs these rock and roll classics. He and the Shads didn't do too badly from 'selling out'.

    • @MrBuffalo2
      @MrBuffalo2 2 місяці тому

      Listen to Hank Williams Move it on Over..it predates Rock Around the Clock by at least 6years..all popular music is an evolution of what went before.the Beatles wouldn't gave got to where they were by only playing rock n roll..
      They got the suits too!

      This was the industry tamed version of the shads.The cats,especially the bass player,had a far punkier image a year previously Proof that rock roll,tuff guy image and screaming girls existed long before the Beatles and Stones 'invented ' it

    This is a sterile, lame, pale imitation, of what was going on in America.
    It is cringeworthy.
