I purchased a 2018 Toyota Camry LE and it has 63,000 miles on it from the Toyota dealership and it’s a CPO even with the high miles. They offered me a good price and the engine starts right up and runs smooth.
My only regrets is that I didn’t notice it didn’t have a CD Player or Satellite radio..
I personally don’t put a lot of miles on cars, I work from home and I live in a small town that has everything I need.
My question is with the initial high miles, do you think at a later date will this bite me in the but especially if things change and I have to start driving in.
Also what maintenance should I get done at 75 or 100k so it will stick around a while.

I plan on taking care of it like the first person did, and hopefully it’ll run up to 300,000 miles or more! 😊 I bought the BlieDriver scab tool for $60 this holiday season, as well as a NOCO GB 40 1000 amp battery booster pack. I saw this advice. In looking for a high mileage, majority hwy miles vehicle, rock chips and paint damage on front facing surfaces can be a good sign. Also look at the brake pedal, and if little or no wear on the pedal surface, that’s a good sign of mostly hwy miles. If the brake pedal looks worn, lots of stops and goes.

Dealerships that take used cars in trade on new cars know enough to swap out the old rubber on the brake pedal for a new one. It's used auto schyster 101. If. It's brand new in appearance on a 50k - 60k mileage car or truck assume that it's been replaced.

    Afternoon Scotty!
I totally agree with your recommendations for how to buy a used car, and when to run away from a money pit. The 3 owner high mileage used truck I purchased for relatively cheap off Craigslist 3 years ago is getting better with age. My 2007 Toyota Tundra hit 296,000 miles earlier this month, nearly 30,000 problem free miles in three years. Keep doing what you are doing, the information you provide is invaluable.
    Tennessee suits you.

Agree. Bought the 3rd gen 4runner with almost 240k miles - and drove it from Oregon to Panama, taking it offroad, through nasty places. Never had a problem, just did maintenance and sold it for the same amount as I've bought it. Other traveler took it and it continued until they've totalled it. Great, great trucks.

hey Scotty! I bought a 07 CRV with around 225k miles on it. I took it to the Honda dealer to get them to do a quick check up before I bought it. There were a few minor things wrong with it that I was able to fix mostly on my own; with the exception on the AC. Turned out to be a relay switch and someone I know was able to fix it for me pretty cheap. Over 2 years later with almost 260k miles it's still running strong. Last tune up the dealership said that it's in really good shape despite the miles. I paid very little for a car that was almost 30k new and I can probably get 500k miles out of it. I live in TN so next time you're here let me know if you would like to include it in a video.

I believe it also helps to have a timing chain as opposed to a belt. All vehicles have their quirks and design flaws somewhere. It just cones down to what you are willing to do and what you are willing to live with. I have 2 high mileage vehicles, a 94 jeep grand Cherokee 4.0 350k still runs great and never had the head off! The second is a 2000 Saturn sl1! 350k never touched the engine except for tuneups and a clutch! And a ton of oil changes!

I managed over 500,000 between a 1973 Gremlin and a 1973 Hornet. For cheap cars, the AMC engines were very long lasting. And, the Chrysler transmissions in those days were very sturdy compared to the weak Fiat company parts of these days.

My 98 Cavilire RS had 340,000 miles when I sold it. One clutch and two alternators is all I had to change on it from 05 to 2018. It needed a new RMseal but ran like a champ. I wish I would have just changed the seals and kept it. I still see it driving around town sometimes.

Still running fine. Now I have a 2014 with a 5.0 and it’s on 89k miles. Expecting a lot of life out of this one too
