Hello Scotty. I need your advice about buying a jeep commander. I am looking at a 2007 Jeep Commander 4x4 5.7L Hemi. It has 80K miles, one owner truck for 14K. I am not mechanically inclined and me andmy wife got lied to in the past and it cost us major inconvenience and money. I just want to ask your opinion about the reliability of these SUVs and i would appreciate it if you can share your insight. Thank you and more power to your channel.

I just got a 2018 Civic (before this video came out haha) absolutely love it.
Something to note about the 2016-2021 civics. The front bumper/grille doesn't protect the A/C condenser from flying bugs and rocks very well, so the condenser gets hit frequently and eventually starts leaking refrigerant, the stuff that keeps your AC blowing cold.
Ultimately, you end up with hot air blowing out of the vents due to a failed condenser, and the symptoms are much worse on the driver side.
Prevention is easy, though. A $4 lock in gutter guard (metal screen) from home depot, trimmed a few inches length-wise, fits perfectly behind the grille and can be held in place with the clips alone.
I drove from Nashville to Chicago and back right after replacing my failed condenser, charging the AC system, and installing the gutter guard. I heard the screen deflect rocks several times during my trip, and I found a dead wasp stuck in one part of the screen after my trip. I am very, very glad I took the 5 minutes of effort to install the screen.

I am not aware of ANY vehicle with a grille that does adequately protect the condenser so the very first thing I've done to every vehicle I've ever owned was installing a chicken wire screen behind the grille. Thought it was so obvious that didn't have to be mentioned. Apparently, it's not...

This is the most helpful thing ever, I'm hoping my condenser isn't failing. The A/C slowly died and I checked the refrigerant level and it was close to empty. Filled it up with a cheap $40.00 can of 1234yf or whatever and it is blowing cold again. Didn't even use the whole can either.

I really miss the S2000. So much fun. I was the S2K technician at the Honda dealership I worked for. Most of the guys there didn't want to bother with them, and then there was me, the one who would run to grab the RO when I saw one pull up, lol. That motor was so gorgeous and truly a marvel of technology for its time. Heck, even by today's standards it's a beautiful piece of engineering.
I even had the pleasure of driving a handful of the S2000 CRs. Not a huge difference between the base and the CR, but its greatest allure for me was the removal hardtop vs a fold in rag-top. The slightly different front bumper, and cute racing wing were aesthetically pleasing, but eh... I could live without them. I believe there was a few more features that made the CR what it was, but it has been a LONG TIME since I worked with one. If the opportunity ever presents itself for me to snag one, I will be on it in a HEARTBEAT.
I even have a copy of the Honda service manual that covers all the years for the S2000. That sucker will be worth a pretty penny down the road (current asking price on eBay ranges $100 - 180+ for the one I have). Then again, maybe I keep it until I have the car to pair it with, lol. We shall see....

I worked at a Honda dealership and my bestfriend that also sold cars there purchased the first S2000. I am 6'3" and could barely fit in the thing. However I was young, dumb, and (maybe) a couple drinks and took that car on the turnpike and got up to 90 pretty quickly until bam! Blown engine. I think I blew out the first one! Lol. Honda flew in guys to look at the engine and they apparently engineered the oil pan to small or they didn't have enough oil. It's been since the early 2000s and my memory, well lucky I remembered that much. You must be aware of the oil delivery problem in the first S2000s. That might have been in 1999 come to think about it. It was a beautiful car. That engine blew twice actually but Honda stood by their product, fixed it with newer designed parts and then gave him a 100,000 mile warranty on the engine. Just wanted to share and hopefully you can clarify what I am saying about the oil problems in the first S2000s

    • @siriusbreak2212
      @siriusbreak2212 2 роки тому

@@JasonFlorida actually yes, I do recall that one. Oil Starvation issues were found on the 1st generation S2000s under heavy load. I can't remember if there was a TSB, but there was a fix they implemented. Wow, I had practically forgotten about that one until you mentioned it, lol. In my region, most of the S2k owners babied them so I never really got a hands-on experience with the repair. The guys that didn't baby their S2k typically didn't come to the dealerships either, lol.
Now that you've triggered that one I did a little hunting (Google, lol) and apparently it was the oil jet bolts (aka Banjo Bolts). That's what they changed. From what I gathered the TSB wasn't really implemented in the US under the pretense that US customers don't typically drive at "Audubon speeds" and thus it wasn't necessary. Yeah, tell that to the myriad of Honda gearheads out there. I'm CERTAIN they'd disagree wholeheartedly 🤣.
Heck, I remember a customer who managed to smash a valve into one of the pistons on an 04 Accord (K24 motor) with only 44k on it (yes, just 1). Automatic transmission. To this day, it still leaves me scratching my head as to HOW they managed to pull that one off. Wasn't my RO, but we all had to stop and marvel at the absurdity of it considering it was generally unheard of in our parts (WNY). The dent it left in the top of cylinder 2 piston was impressive. Not everyday you get to see a 3 year old Honda (at the time) with that kind of engine damage.

We purchased the car in 1999 for $16k I believe we have got our monies worth. We always laugh because the damn thing looks so bad yeah it still keeps running! It starts up so fast it’s not even funny. We have AAA for the day that it does die and then we will take her to the junkyard. But this particular model apparently is well sought after and we’ve had several people try to buy it from us. So we don’t know if we might put another engine in the damn thing. There’s no rust or dents in it either. I told my husband all the time we should drop a new engine give it a paint job and put some new seats and that would still be cheaper than another car.

Scotty, I have a 2010 Civic LX. I bought in 2019 with a 132,000 miles. I now have 153,000. It runs great . Just new tire when I bought it, changed transmission fluid at 152,000 and oil changes.

The S2000 is a direct descendant of Honda’s formula one program. Super chargers and turbochargers are not allowed in formula one. When Honda was in formula one they had the top engine!

@The Real VR before Honda was in Indy racing they were in Formula one. They pulled out of formula one at various times but have had a lot of success there. From the mid 80’s to the early 90’s Honda engines were dominated Formula one. Honda’s VTEC was a result of their formula one design

my 2nd hand 2000 rav4 with a 5 speed 175000 is still going strong. only paid 2800 out the door 5 years ago. the clutch chatters starting off when pulling a load so it's days are limited but overall it's been a cheap reliable vehicle. i like it's boxy look better than the jazzed up newer ones.

Thought CRV stood for Compact Recreational Vehicle.
I had a 2000 CRV and it’s bulletproof, loved it to bits. Upgraded to an FJ Cruiser which I also love, tho miss the CRV.

Scotty, there is one terrible problem with the newer Civics - the suspension. I came off the highway about 15 mph above the posted limit. Darn near flipped the the car. The front end dove like a fish. But it was leased so I swapped it for an Accord and then then I bought two 2019 Subaru Forrestors - his and hers. My back does not scream when I get into it. Every once in a while I get a note from the dealer - "Get off your duff and get that vehicle in here!" I do. He takes very good care of me.

I bought a 4 door Honda that I passed down to my son for showing properties. While I was gone on vacation it was stolen. Soon after it was found without any damage. Now I wish I would have kept it because now my older Toyota has a problem with 2 different lights blinking which probably means that it needs some repairs which aren’t cheap to repair since I am not a mechanic like my dad. Awesome video of these different Hondas!
