This was a fun series with a lot of practical/tactical stuff. It even has a scene explaining the 4 rules of gun safety (that everyone should know). We need a figurine of Mitsuha with her 93R.
Loved the show. Sabine (the princess) was fun in the show, but became hands down my favorite character in the manga with how she manipulates Mitsuha and company. A lot of the important people "happen" to show up is actually explained, albeit often very quickly. The reason the prime minister showed up when the guy was trying to extort her and take her store was because she'd sent Sabine with a letter the day before asking him to come, and told the extortionist to come back at that time. The reason the king shows up at the restaurant was because Sabine had been part-timing there (though in the manga she's more like a mascot, as the patrons feed her and stuff, hilarious). And the noble family she was buddy with shows up because they'd heard the place was serving food she had introduced. Sure, it's a stretch occasionally, and the timing is uncannily impeccable, but it's not entirely deus ex machina. Oh, and Sabine extorting a mountain bike out of Mitsuha (and the bodyguard secretly getting one too so he could keep an eye on her) is just awesome (manga).
Another one I was reading the manga too and got an adaptation. So much stuff I was reading got adapted this season. Really like this one also due to how it starts the same, she trying to not mess up stuff to much, then goes off rails with her Private Military. They screwed with her friends and she has the power to fix it so she does Love it. And her store/house if you noticed had solar panels on it. Thats great, everyone just would think its weird mirrors on her house but she has power for her stuff in that world now. Really hope they do another season because it gets good with her running her viscounty.
I love this show for its concept, and because Mitsuha is a smart, fun, relatable protagonist. It's also very interesting to see her decision making process, what she decided to introduce to the isekai world and what she wished to hold back. She put a lot of thoughts in them. I like that in a main character.
She also commited crimes such as Illegal gun ownership, weapons dealing with an overseas PMC, and she also used a family for her own benefit while also acknowledgeing this, thus making her an international fugitive on the run and a sociopath (someone who knows what good and wrong is but doesn't mind doing the wrong thing)
If you like this protagonist I highly recommend checking out the 'I shall survive using potions' anime. It's another LN adaptation from the same author. Out of all 3 LN stories by Funa, the protagonist from the potions story is the most cunning of them all.
THIS MIND-BLOWING ISEKAI YURI MILITARY ACTION COMEDY ANIMÉ IS A MASH-UP BETWEEN "GATE: THUS THE JSDF FOUGHT THERE" & "DISNEY'S DUCKTALES", LOL! 👧💗👸🌈✨💰🔫📺👍😂
now that this series is over, now all we need is the 3rd manga that this same mangaka authored to be animated... but based on the upcoming anime artwork, I have low expectation although I really love the manga
I agree this show was great, and it's sad that all indications are it's not going to get an S2 (if I'm wrong, I'll be elated). This is the first anime where its premature end prompted me to go buy the manga/LN just to get the rest of the ongoing story. Even once she becomes a land-owner, the fun never stops. Her intelligence continues to serve her well, while her mistakes continue to prove the source of humorous moments, while her supernatural gifts provide some occasional BA moments. Edit/add: Some of what you say about Mitsuha getting bailed out by coincidence is true, but more often than not, she makes her own luck rather than just letting it happen. The corrupt merchant was set up on purpose by her pretending to capitulate, asking him to "come back tomorrow so she can have her business partner to sign off on their surrender", then planning on having the Minister there waiting. The Rival Restaurant owner; she saw him stalking and basically just gave him enough rope for him to hang himself, because she knew nobles were eating there incognito. The manga extends this (which we sadly won't see in anime); Mitsuha is an extremely skilled, often downright devious planner, though yes, prone to mistakes due to her youth and lack of background in this new world but she grows and matures throughout the LN/manga (which makes her all the more dangerous for people who are going up against her).
I really hate Soul press from going belly up reguarding the english translated LNs for this. Since its a Funa series (Disnt say to make my ability average, I shall surving uising Potions) its a decently fun series and thanks god they did THIS adaptation justice unlike Ability average by not messing with the storry.
I enjoyed it, fun concept and character, the cooking is a huge highlight and the party was enjoyable, however, I wish this show took its time, the detachable shower head and a five course meal shown the her first customers was a bit much for me, same with the weapons, but you can only do so much in a 12 episode show, either way still a fun watch.
I liked this show a lot. As you say, it may not be perfect, but still i was waiting every week for the next episode. That says enough. Totally enjoyable.
I was hesitant to invest time into this show given it has a MAL score less than 7, but will definitely check it out after your glowing review. On a side note, I think your camera needs to be irised up a bit. Your recent videos have been notably darker than past ones.
I've been picking up 6-8 MAL rating series but I ended up enjoying them mostly. Some reviewers I know didn't pick them up so I took the initiative while being cautious of my time. Even its isekai authors still find ways to tweak plots to hook us in. I do hope in the future they adapt a manga or LN about the whole Japan transported to another world. Readers will go nuts on this.
It's crazy people will say "I hope the MC gets stabbed in the back for transporting goods to make a profit." To me this is the smartest move and hell if I was in her sistuation I would have done the same and yes some one told me "But it is wrong." or " I hope you get stabbed in the back." Like damn I'm being realistic and they think oh it is offensive but really I'm spending my on supplies and reselling it at a decent price. Like it would be different if I made it for the wealth and nobles.
I really like Mitsuha, which makes it even harder to watch when she chooses to lie to people when she doesn't need to. I got very uncomfortable with her manipulation of the noble family, who were genuinely concerned about her and wanted to help her. She doesn't do them wrong, but she does lie to them on several occasions -- which left me feeling very uncomfortable, to the degree that I had to turn off the show and walk away and come back later to finish the episode. And, if I'm being fair, having flaws makes her feel more real as a person than if she was perfect. So I don't really have a problem with it, it just was uncomfortable for me (because of my issues).
To be fair, she didn't really hurt them in any way from her lies. And that was definitely a situation where telling the truth would have been problematic, because it's sufficiently unbelievable that they would think that she was either lying or insane. Neither of which leads to good things in that sort of society, especially with nobles.
Tbh this anime has one of the least evil looking evil protagonist, a greedy sociopath, i mean just look at how she jumps around in gold in the opening, she used a family for her own benefit wich she did acknowledge, wich means she knows she's doing something wrong but she just doesn't mind. She also commited crimes such as illegal gun ownership, and illegal weapons dealing with a private military company overseas, thus making her an international criminal and a sociopathic fugitive on the run.
Not really it is not illeagle if nobody doesn't know and it is for surival it is like saying your going to fight naked she needed something to protect herself with because if you forgot she also works in another world that is still unknown. And no she isn't a greedy sociaopath it is called being smart and plus would you belive her she had to do something if it means doing a little bad it's not like she hurts people and plus she did help with giving some advice for the crops because of a food shortage. Hell if it was me I would do the samething not even in a heart beat.
@@swector_unit4257 You know this was a figurative roundabout sarcastic way to explain the behaviour of the character, right? I was talking about how her behaviour is really manipulative adn she doesn't hesitate to lie, both of theese usually apply to sociopathic behaviour. Also yes she helped a lot of people i do aknowledge that. (caravan, capital, or just villagers
My favorite part about this series is that they went all in on GATE in the last 2 episodes. Very satisfying.

A notch cleverer than the standard isekai. I did enjoy that Mitsuha's superpower is remembering things that her late brother had mansplained to her.
although her brother would have died pretty quick
Mitsuha doesn't give a crap, and it's extremely refreshing.
I love Mitsuha this scammy little shit.
Also blasting a dragon with an RPG was a golden scene

This sounds like my favorite aspects of Slime and Ascendence wrapped into one. Gonna have to check it out 😁

The outfit she wore in the final battle was quite nice and unexpected.
I think the reference why she wore that dress because sabine love to watch mahou shoujou on the DVD in the mitsuha shop (skipped in the anime)

After episode 10, I had to read the fan translations of the web novel because I could not wait a week. Fun story.
Yall might wanna try this "Potion-danomi de Ikinobimasu!"

Well, I mean, the king didn't just happen to show up. His daughter was playing waitress.
Sounds like the Spiffing Brit getting isekai'd.

Mitsuha is Nanahoshi if she could TP with no consequences ngl

Campfire cooking in another world is my guilty pleasure of isekai. This was okay but I got bored quickly
HOpefully this is a shoe in for a s2...
The gold will eventualy run out
yeah this character is was having 100% scam level

I might pick up the manga in case they don't adapt the rest.
