I truly believe no one pays attention to the actual dialogue that Frenchie and Kimiko have between them because it was very established last season that they were not happening.
There are still people that think they turned Frenchie gay even though it was obvious he's very open minded when it comes to his sexuality. People complained about how this show isn't subtle anymore, which they were never that subtle, but they are unable to grasp such simple and obvious things.

You forget that there are 2 years between seasons. I myself forgot they both admitted that their kiss was awkward and they are more than boy-girl relationship
