      You're welcome, thanks for watching. They've released a 1/72 scale version of this ship so if you're interested in trying this, you now have an option that's smaller in scale and just as accurate. Thanks for your compliment, I appreciate it.

    Really good build. I got the metal accessories. I thought if I didn't build it would compliment any re-sale I did. Just an update. Etsy is selling an interior set miniature for the passenger pod. Thanks again...

      Thanks. Not planning on building another Eagle but good for all to know there's an interior available.

    Really nice looking model. Love the spring action. I might try to do this with a lighted pod but I don't know about reference materials or photoetch availability. Might need to scratch build the whole thing. Thanks for the inspiration.

    Since I completed mine and posted pics on the Space:1999 Props & Ships Facebook page, I'mma take credit as your inspiration for the pastel paneling technique. ;) This build is totally badass! I'm going to pick up a second kit and paint it as a Rescue Eagle, as I did mine as a Standard Eagle. I've also thought up some hacks to assemble the kit easier than what the instruction sheet shows. All in all, bravo!

    Nice build of a nice kit!! I'm sure you already know this, but Alclad has to applied in a very light thin coat. Too heavy, and it becomes more like a darker silver paint, as it looses its translucence..

    Hi You always put a gloss varnish finish on a model, so to provide a flat finish for the decal or transfer to hold on to. Once your "Decals" and weathering are done, you seal the finish in matt varnish.

    • @InterstellarModeler
      @InterstellarModeler  3 роки тому

      Thanks Tom.....I have since adopted that technique especially since finding gloss coats that can be applied with an airbrush. I've also learned a lot about painting figures so I now devote more time to that part of the build as well. Lots to learn. Appreciate you watching and for the tip.

  • @JamesJones-of8hl
    @JamesJones-of8hl 8 років тому +1

    Good job! I like the pastel weathering idea better. I did mine by airbrushing greys with card cutouts, like James Small did. I have tried this method and it's much easier.

    great build ! For the cockpit my choice would be a white LED light when on the Moon doing maintenance and a Red LED in operation. Are going to put in a strobe light (help with docking and not mistaken for a star) and landing foot pad lights ? tjl

    Never noticed the two halves of the Apollo Lunar lander sitting behind the cockpit of the Eagle on the top. Is that on the original studio model? Very appropriate nurney!

    • @InterstellarModeler
      @InterstellarModeler  6 років тому

      I don't believe so. My guess is that they just added it to the mold here. Not 100% sure though.

    • @InterstellarModeler
      @InterstellarModeler  8 років тому

      I used duplicolors gray filler primer. It's a nice light shade of gray and serves as a nice undercoat to the white.

    OK this is something I've always thought about. The eage beak has that wonderfully 4 section black triangle beak. So the upper section is a view port , what on earth is the lower section? Windows for knee caps?

    • @InterstellarModeler

      Nothing more than a design element really. Scifi ships are notorious for having interiors and exteriors that dont add up. 😊

    Very nice build. I really enjoyed this video series. I noticed that the mini pads underneath the passenger pod are in a dangling position. Does the model give you a recessed option?

      1/48. Highly recommend joining Space 1999 Props and Ships of Fbook. Lots of good info there as well as additional parts such as softer springs etc. Thanks for watching

    Hi Oggie, another question, why did you mask off the Windows, and why you painted them instead of decals.
    Thanks!!!

    • @InterstellarModeler

      Richard Bourdeau Personal preference...preferred painting over decals.

    It is a great model,however,I see no reason to build something that huge. I am working on finishing up the Reliant Wrath of Khan Star Trek model. I estimate at least 100 LED lights. Some strip lighting,most individual colored or navigation. All wiring is magnet wire. It has taken me three winters to build this. I only build plastic models in the winter because I fly RC planes in the nice weather. I taught myself electronics by watching video's. I love building electronic projects now. Your model came out good. I wash using greys and blacks might have been better than pastels. I use paint washs as well as oil based and ink washes,then finish with pastels. I would have used a putty to act as a paint line blocker. I found out silly putty works awesome for that.

    • @InterstellarModeler
      @InterstellarModeler  6 років тому

      RC Hobbyist Extreme...thanks for your comments. Since building this model I’ve become more comfortable and confident w/using washes now and agree they’re very effective. Thanks for watching.

    Would you sell the eagle or can I commission you to make one, how much would you charge? Thank you. Marco

    • @InterstellarModeler
      @InterstellarModeler  8 років тому

      Hi Marco and thanks for your inquiry. I'm afraid this one isn't for sale and I don't do commission work. People have asked me this recently and I'll just say that a number of yrs ago I did so some commission work but it started turning this hobby I love into a job. These days I just build what suits me and my aim here is to share my techniques. Thanks for asking and for watching. I really appreciate it.
