The reason the original Cobra was a hit was it crammed a large and very powerful US V8 into a small lightweight car. That was, what? 50 years ago? And now, put a modern US V8 into basically the same package, modern tyres and shocks, and what do you have? Exactly the same thing. It's still a beast. It still attracts for exactly the same reasons. It even looks very much like the original. It's still a wild, willfull he-man car. You'd still need to know a thing or two about driving to enjoy it.
Great thing about the replicas is, you can build it they way you want it. Me personally, a new ford coyote motor, built up but naturally aspirated. Make it a track day weapon ;-)
The two cars had almost the same BHP output when tested. You're also forgetting the supposed advantage that the Jag' has with its launch control, traction control etc. The XCS has no electronics to make it quick just a properly designed chassis and suspension set up.....
The exhaust has that brutal sound and the car is a just fantastic. There is a lovely little bit of highway in Mandeville Jamaica. I wonder what it would be like to drive the car down that road?
this guy is a great reviewer, but the videos are too short lately. I would love to see longer videos, with more in-depth reviews. i want to see you take it sideways please!! ;)
I want to see a track test on that Cobra replica. Not sure about that long looking gear throw on it though, lots of change time lost in the acceleration.
OK, I was expecting the cobra to win but by THAT MUCH? Nope, I thought it would just wheelspin its power away, the traction is amazing...what a machine! Maybe a bit much for a daily driver though!
While that is true, if you put it in track mode (which allows some slip, as the xkr has dynamic suspension and limited slip in this mode) and you use the padel shifters, it still maintains the power off the start as you work the rpms. Granted, I don't argue the speed of your gorgeous cobra. I simply state perhaps the driver of the jag was not used to driving it to its full potential. :)
id like an onboard of the jag aswell and cameras on the rpm counter. looks like he was holding back. but fuck knows, cant tell with this amount of data.
The Cobra the ultimate race car always want one I'll get one I want to see sx-4000 427 side Oiler talk about powers like put the big block engine on a go-kart I've had Corvettes Camaros but I want to cobra😎👍✌💸
I'm not a fan of the LS3 Chevrolet engine for such a Cobra build...were it mine, I'd rethink the powerplant to a built Mopar 340 (if wanting 'old school') or one of the 392 Hellcat crate solutions (I think the 426 'Hellephant' would be MASSIVE overkill, at over 1,000-HP).
A lil bit more power and lighter?Of course the Jag not gone win at that point.Let's be honest though,He put that Cobra against the Jaguar because a Jag is really hard to beat💯
Tell you jag haters what, I'll modify my XKR like that Cobra has been built/modified and then we'll see who wins........while drinking a cup of coffee and listening to music since the jag is waaaay more comfortable. :)
Brendon Lombardi its not just the engine that makes this car fast it has trick suspension that gives it superior grip wear as the Jag just cuts the power to stop the wheels spinning, have a look at there web site it explains how this works www.walker-partnership.com/
GT7786 ...also that doesn't sound like a Ford at all, the Jag' sounds more Ford like. You're on the 'tube, listen to a real Cobra or actually any hot Ford. (it's mostly in the firing order).
I think they did this out of convenience--the Cobra is technically a 'production car,' so they needed the highest horsepower crate engine that is in a production car. My guess is that if Ford had their 662 horsepower engine from the Shelby available, that might have been considered. Personally, I like the idea of building one's own kit car, so one can use whatever engine one wants. My dream car would be either a Cobra replica or '33 Ford replica from FFR, with a twin-turbo 460 cu in small-block crate Ford engine. Probably more realistic from a 'dream' aspect than this Jaguar (although in 5 to 10 years with depreciation, this Jag WON'T hold any value, but how reliable will it be...), and a giant killer to boot!
I think you will be very, very surprised!!! this car has the Peter Walker CC & AR both front and rear, my Cob has it front only and handles like a dream, and leaves a lot of the supercar drives very red faced, also as mentioned these cars have no electronic rubbish to get in the way just well designed chassis and running gear.

The Cobra is my all time favourite... Love it. Thanks for showing us it's still keeps up with modern sports cars.
Great thing about the replicas is, you can build it they way you want it. Me personally, a new ford coyote motor, built up but naturally aspirated. Make it a track day weapon ;-)
Oh man, that Cobra looks soooooooo GOOD!! Sounds awesome too!
When he said he would give it a TWO SECOND head start, I was sure that was way way too much. Turns out I was very wrong.
It's always nice to see rev and speed gauges rising at almost the same rate! ;)
More replica videos please! :D
would not mind that thing blowing my doors off...thats gotta sound amazing flying by w.o.t
I'd love to see a 0-100 or 150 in these beloved supercars
wow, more powerful and A LOT lighter car won, Amazing
The two cars had almost the same BHP output when tested. You're also forgetting the supposed advantage that the Jag' has with its launch control, traction control etc. The XCS has no electronics to make it quick just a properly designed chassis and suspension set up.....
Ian Martin
SO YOU ARE SAYING THAT ON PAPER JAGUAR ACTUALLY HAD A CHANCE??????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Rytis36 you would have thought so with a 2 second head start but no it still lost big time
Ian Martin Not to mention the shift times were more than likely longer than the Jag so...
but a heavier and less powerful gtr will beat most other cars (bar the 12c and aventador).....
omg, thats insane. Jaaaag next to Cobra looks like a tank :D
Steve seems to want every car he drives now.
Oh how I loooove well made replicas
The exhaust has that brutal sound and the car is a just fantastic. There is a lovely little bit of highway in Mandeville Jamaica. I wonder what it would be like to drive the car down that road?
Cool.
I was hoping for a bit more.
Do not stretch this out to a 3-part test over 3 weeks.
Wow that replica is a sex on wheels, compassion for the jaguar !!
More of that car right now !!!!!!!!
Apples & oranges. The Jag is a GT car, the Cobra a 'sport' car, as it's creator used to say.
Do they sell a Coupe version of the Cobra replica?
this guy is a great reviewer, but the videos are too short lately.
I would love to see longer videos, with more in-depth reviews. i want to see you take it sideways please!! ;)
I want one too!!
Guys, I wish you could ever get your hands on a weineck cobra with 13.6 l engine or so. That would be a great review!
I want to see a track test on that Cobra replica. Not sure about that long looking gear throw on it though, lots of change time lost in the acceleration.
Where is the "SuperDry" shirt???!!! I can't believe he is not wearing it!!!!
AC is just more fun and stylish. For me.
Compare them on a lap around a track...And lets see if the cobra can handle the corners....
The Cob would thrash the jag, no problem!
Cobra is an icon, Jag is a turd. No comparison. Love the test, feel bad for Jaguar. Steve's expression was the best.
sw1000xg Yes, no question. But this test didn't include an E-type. XKR-S has zero desirability for me. Cobra is all brutal and sexy.
I'm assumig the Jag has launch control? Looks awesome when it hunkers down just before leaping ^^
Power & weight baby :)
Can't wait for mine
OK, I was expecting the cobra to win but by THAT MUCH? Nope, I thought it would just wheelspin its power away, the traction is amazing...what a machine! Maybe a bit much for a daily driver though!
Let me guess. No traction control, no ABS?
While that is true, if you put it in track mode (which allows some slip, as the xkr has dynamic suspension and limited slip in this mode) and you use the padel shifters, it still maintains the power off the start as you work the rpms. Granted, I don't argue the speed of your gorgeous cobra. I simply state perhaps the driver of the jag was not used to driving it to its full potential. :)
this was the very first time Steve Sutcliffe had driven the xcs were as matt prior had driven the xkr many miles while testing it for autocar
Well then he's just a bad driver then. Haha
id like an onboard of the jag aswell and cameras on the rpm counter. looks like he was holding back. but fuck knows, cant tell with this amount of data.
Oily Crap. That's looks epic
The Cobra the ultimate race car always want one I'll get one I want to see sx-4000 427 side Oiler talk about powers like put the big block engine on a go-kart I've had Corvettes Camaros but I want to cobra😎👍✌💸
The 427 it's very heavy up front a modern V8 with more hp it's the way to go.
What type of seats are those on the Cobra Replica? Is that a Backdraft, Superformance?
+Miguel Rodriguez
It is a XCS Cobra and they make there own seats ,hear is there web site
xcsdesigns.co.uk/index.htm
No better car show brother 👍🏻
Why does the screenshot for the vid show a Jag F-Type :S
How much luxury and safety is in the Cobra, I'd take the Jag thanks
Are you gay Thecarexpert?
john smith Wow, i'm gay and i'd take 5 of those AC's. Away and take your face for a shite, 'John'.
john smith I believe he is because me and any other sane person would take the cobra in a heartbeat
leDerpy squid either that or he is high on pot
What kind of loser buys a sports car for safety, not like it's made for a mature person, the entire car is immature
Not just u want one of this!
didn't think I would ever find myself saying this about an ls3'd car, but compared to the jag, the xcs sounds a bit muted
I love this video.
A lil bit more power and lighter?Of course the Jag not gone win at that point.Let's be honest though,He put that Cobra against the Jaguar because a Jag is really hard to beat💯
Where is this place?
for now i see only tech spec 540 /1800 vs 640/1100 cobra definitly win if have good traction .
Try an Ultima GTR before you get one of these. I'll wait for the test...
I wouldn't want to cruise around in an Ultima.
Tell you jag haters what, I'll modify my XKR like that Cobra has been built/modified and then we'll see who wins........while drinking a cup of coffee and listening to music since the jag is waaaay more comfortable. :)
And if that still fails I'll resort to the R1! haha Love the sound of the Cobra though I gotta admit...
Brendon Lombardi its not just the engine that makes this car fast it has trick suspension that gives it superior grip wear as the Jag just cuts the power to stop the wheels spinning, have a look at there web site it explains how this works www.walker-partnership.com/
Why wasn't launch control used in the Jag!?
The jag may be slower but it's a gorgeous car
I want one too O_o
So does he own the XKR-S?
Sounds fantastic! Is the engine a Ford or Chevrolet unit? I'm leaning towards the Ford because of the sound, I might be wrong though.
Chevrolet LS3 V8
it is in the description :)
ToNQbluby Oops, didn't saw that thanks.
GT7786
...also that doesn't sound like a Ford at all, the Jag' sounds more Ford like. You're on the 'tube, listen to a real Cobra or actually any hot Ford. (it's mostly in the firing order).
Might be my computer speakers.
What was the point of that?
Gay Joel?
john smith you just love to say this stuff don't you=D
I LOVE COBRA but damn, this one loses points for being Supercharged! IDC what motor you out in one but it DAMN WELL BETTER BE N/A!!!!!
Shelby's always handle better than Jaguars. Thats why the GT350R can embarrass any F Type SVR around any track
its not a Shelby
More more more please :)
Shelby*
Range Rover won.
Well played sir!
Ulisses, are you a little light on your loafers as well?
you'll look fast but you'll problably get it totaled...
Where are the GT-R fanboys?
nice
owning that little jag is not really an accomplishment...put it against some actual muscle!
Cobra replicas have destroy many supercars...very few can top it.
£85k for the cobra is so ridiculous a price.sorry.
Give me back that wasted time.
Awesome
Cobra is best ❤️❤️ Jag had no chance 🤣
I don't know what 427 they used in that Cobra but it sounds like complete shit
REALLY??????
gear change in cobra keep on one year ,horrible.
Sorry for off-topic, but Range Rover wins!
Another shirtlifter
Georg Arju for dick suckers!!!!!!!!!
Its fast but I would still rather have the jag
yes just like Austin Powers
Are you gay Matt?
john smith either that or he is high
I have Ford Mustang 1969 427
+Ettore Ford
I have a toyota Rav 4 2006?????????????????????????????????????????
Yeeeeeeeees!!! :D
Another cow dung Chev in a Cobra replica, that's why it sounds like a sick turd !!
+arkhsm ford should have put a dog shit Ford in it lol

Corvette ZR1's LS9 motor???
Jawolll!
skrit skirt
요정보다 좋은거 같은데 조용한 방귀가 좋을까? 👌🍽🙏😎
Shit!
Trade in that sh*t jag then
worst cobra sound iv ever heard
He looses a car length to the Jag wih every gear change. A Caterham R620 would eat the Cobra Replica.
and the cobra still won with a slow gear change , and a suzuki hayabusa will beat a Caterham R620
Compare them on a lap around a track...And lets see if the cobra can handle the corners....
