As one of the biggest Tool fans out there, I can honestly say I get a little giddy and happy when I see other bands paying respect to Tool. One of the greatest bands ever, yet less mainstream attention than there should be. Breaking Benjamin did an amazing job and I am glad they covered this so well.
If you notice, this is an ACOUSTIC version of the tune. Sorry there are haters hating. The band was awesome to do this in the first place. They also recorded "Failure" in the hardDriveRadio studios here in NYC. You can also find that here. We thank and appreciate you, Ben Burnley and Breaking Benjmain!
+Aidan Chapel No. They are one of the worst bands I've ever heard and they should not even be allowed to listen to Tool, let alone cover it. Dead serious. This is horrendously offensive.
Yeah, lets do that. Breaking Benjamin do these covers at their shows and its to pay tribute to the bands that inspired them. Benjamin isn't near the vocalist that Maynard is, but he is a really amazing person.
Wrong! Ben doesn't sing the lyrics correct! The correct lines are " do unto you now- what has been done to me", and "Do unto me now- what has been done to you", but Ben always sings "me" and not "you".
Finally, two of my favorite bands combined. I was a bit skeptic how will this sound with BB and it's perfect. Now I wait Tool (or APC) to cover BB (I'll probably get crucified because of this statement lol).
musically, really interesting, very cool actually, vocally he did ok for a normal person, unfortunately it highlights how amazing Maynard is vocally, i mean it hurts to hear this guy sing, it really just makes Maynard look amazing bcuz BB is a successful band lol
as possibly the biggest BB fan, how is this the first time I'm seeing this?? I wish the vocals were a little louder tho but Bens voice is amazing when covering tool
That Moment when your second favorite band covers your first favorite band This was dope man, good job. Well for people who are not aware, BB started as a Tool Cover band.. Btw, tool just dropped 2 new songs after 13 years.. oh God..
They played this 1/2 step lower than the recording. The Recording is in B, A, D, G, B, E. Ben can't hit the highs of the original recording. It's no easy task, Maynard has an insane range for a guy.
BB and HardDrive Radio you have restored my faith in humanity with this post. Great cover. And for all the disgruntled tool fans, no one batches when they play Led Zeppelin- no quarter
Would have been if Ben didn't completely fuck up the lyrics. He constantly inverted verses, sang as perpetrator when he is supposed to sing as the victim and vice versa. He also sang " I need this to make me whole" everytime when he is supposed to sing " I can't stand to burn too long". He also said " I go around full circle". The correct Lyric is: I've.... Come..... 'ROUND! Full Circle!"
Wow. The vocalist killed it but I think the star of the show was the djembe player. Kudos for taking Danny Carrey drum parts & translating that to a groovy percussion rhythm!

Victor Ryan well said! spoken like a true fan. this cover is nothing but a love ballad and an honorable head nod to a band they appreciate and adore.
Ya very well said! Its weird to hear... but sounds good!
+Victor Ryan fuck yeah do you like primus?
Primus sucks..
Primus sucks indeed.
This band sucks hard even when they play their own stuff. HORRID.
+Rebecca Corley HAHAHA, you're kidding, right?
+Aidan Chapel No. They are one of the worst bands I've ever heard and they should not even be allowed to listen to Tool, let alone cover it. Dead serious. This is horrendously offensive.
+Rebecca Corley How many songs of theirs have you listened to?
Yeah, lets do that. Breaking Benjamin do these covers at their shows and its to pay tribute to the bands that inspired them. Benjamin isn't near the vocalist that Maynard is, but he is a really amazing person.
Fun fact: BB was originally a Tool cover band, so they're pretty familiar with their discography
Really?
Can confirm this is true!
Did not know that. Awesome!
Not the current lineup though they weren’t there at the beginning (members other than Ben).
@@Huseyinisiksel.4924 I was just about to comment this
Not a big Breaking Benjamin fan (Don't hate them or anything, just never did anything for me. But huge kudos for this, this cover is excellent.
You should check their Aenima cover they recently did live, the bass player sings it and he's pretty good
I wish I could post a link right now but I'm on my phone so whenever I get on my laptop I will post a link or the cover
I'd give me a relisten. If you want more noticeable tool influence, Id check out the first two records.
).
I feel like you haven't heard a certain small group of Benjamin songs.
This has got to be as good of a cover as it can get. And it's done in acoustic on top of that. They nailed it.
Wrong! Ben doesn't sing the lyrics correct! The correct lines are " do unto you now- what has been done to me", and "Do unto me now- what has been done to you", but Ben always sings "me" and not "you".
@@MrParkerman6 I'm pretty sure i stood next to you at a tool concert and hated you.
great cover his voice suits the song well
I'm a big fan of acoustic music. These guys guys did a great job covering Prison Sex.
BB starting as a Tool cover band! The more you know.
The vocalist covered Aenema a few years back
Part of that generation of Hard Rock/Metal that was heavily influenced by Tool, along with my personal favorite band, Chevelle
Finally, two of my favorite bands combined. I was a bit skeptic how will this sound with BB and it's perfect. Now I wait Tool (or APC) to cover BB (I'll probably get crucified because of this statement lol).
Maynard singing until the end
Not the biggest fan of BB but seeing tool cover anything would be really interesting.
Lolol na
BB started off as a Tool cover band from what I've heard
You have been crucified. (Note: I’m not saying I disagree, just making a joke)
Amazing cover. Shaun Foist on the drums ladies and gents.
As a fan of tool, I can say WOW, this cover hit it all, gentlemen, be PROUD
The ad at the end makes this the best video ever
I am a huge Tool fan. Though, I am not too much for Breaking Benjamin, but this was nice. I enjoyed it.
That was a pretty solid cover
They did pretty good. I just kind of wish the vocals were a bit louder, they're kind of drowned out. Still awesome though.
+Pavus the Pug Kind of like...Tool?
Michael Thompson Not really. Tool has very strong lyrics. Sure they are quiet sometimes but that really just plays into making them louder.
musically, really interesting, very cool actually, vocally he did ok for a normal person, unfortunately it highlights how amazing Maynard is vocally, i mean it hurts to hear this guy sing, it really just makes Maynard look amazing bcuz BB is a successful band lol
The drums and a couple guitars were tuned tooo low. Normally he has them tune the guitars to his voices tone so it doesn’t drown him out in his songs.
as possibly the biggest BB fan, how is this the first time I'm seeing this?? I wish the vocals were a little louder tho but Bens voice is amazing when covering tool

One of the many great covers
Why does Shaun look like he's secretly planning Ben's demise? Lol
????
As an old fan of the most great band of my llife Tool, what can I say... GREAT cover, specially the voice, Congrats from Chile!!!
Breaking Benjamin was my first favorite band an then I found tool and this brings it all together I appreciate this cover
They played this 1/2 step lower than the recording. The Recording is in B, A, D, G, B, E. Ben can't hit the highs of the original recording. It's no easy task, Maynard has an insane range for a guy.
Always wanted this, their acoustic house of blues one was great too^.^
Always been a huge fan of BB. I was skeptical on how this would turn out, but it was great! Nice job guys!
the bass sounds killer
Yes.
Because its the unique instrument active and no Acoustic
this is amazing
Absolutely fantastic! Love it when great musicians decide to do things like this, brings a whole new life to the song
I need an electric cover of this, this is fucking perfect.
This sound is so unique. The accustic tools song covered by theses guys, more needs to be made like this
That bass tone though 🔥
I laughed so hard at “for one sweet moment I am wholeeeeeee lblblblblblb”
Such a dope ass cover. These dudes are a lot of fun live, and everytime ive seen them they have covered at least one tool song.
I saw them live in like 2009 and they didn't do tool. I feel absolutely cheated now.
That’s how you know BB is an amazing band, covered a song by one of the undisputed greatest bands of all time and made it their own!
Great cover, I loved it!!!!!
I don't think I wanted to analyze the lyrics this closely. Great cover guys.
Very cool! Live BB & Hard Drive!
Im amazed...didnt expected that quality
I'm glad I watched this expecting to hear a terrible cover, because I was pleasantly surprised.
yes..without autotune..beautiful..hair stands up..ty..
Killer job
This is phenomenal. Why I love Breaking Benjamin!!
BB and HardDrive Radio you have restored my faith in humanity with this post. Great cover. And for all the disgruntled tool fans, no one batches when they play Led Zeppelin- no quarter
bitches*** batches same shit
BB does not dissapoint best band ever. To me they are epic if not legend/s.
One of my favorite bands covering my all time favorite band! Great job, BB! 🤘🏻
Solid cover! I'm a huge Tool fan
Really good cover!
Absolutely amazing cover!
Awesome! I would love to see and hear a cover of Intolerance by Tool from these guys!
Damn that was pretty good, great job guys
Talent and great vocals

That was an AMAZING cover. 👏 hats off
Wow.

2:58 the bass guitar color changed
ammar badokhon we put a color eliminating filter on that shot. it muted some of the bass's color.
is it me or does Aaron's bass keep switching from blue to gray....
The colors over all keep switching
+The Wandering Internet Wizard oh yea, i see what you mean
the bass colour is prism blue so it changes various shades 👌
This is a wonderful cover I love BB so much
I like the weathering in bens voice.
goddam that was so good...
This is my favorite cover
Good job. Its rare to hear someone to do MJK's voice so well.
LOVE THIS!!!
This is an amazing cover
Great cover. Breaking Benjamin not really my type of thing, but they knocked this out of the park.
Other than getting the lyrics wrong.
This was a fantastic cover! I just wish he didn't kiss the microphone at :53 after having just said, "My throat's wide open." It made me feel icky.
Ben is really putting himself out there with this one. GJ
Not a huge fan of these guys but they feel this song and ya gotta give em kudos for that. Well played fellas might check some more of your stuff.
The instrumental is friken awsome!
No one gonna talk about how the bass changes from blue to grey and vice versa?
This is brilliant!
and that bass tone is perfect
I love the way they all look lost at the end LOL!
That bassist is badass.
This was sick.
Great cover Breaking Benjamin style
The bass sounds goood
Lyrics:
It took so long to remember just what happened
I was so young and vestal then
You know it hurt me
But I'm breathing so I guess I'm still alive
Even if signs seem to tell me otherwise
I've got my hands bound
My head down, my eyes closed
And my throat's wide open
Do unto others what has been done to me
Do unto others what has been done to you
I'm treading water
I need to sleep a while
My lamb and martyr, you look so precious
Won't you, won't you come a bit closer
Close enough so I can smell you
I need you to feel this
I can't stand to burn too long
Release in sodomy
For one sweet moment I am whole
Do unto you now
What has been done to me
Do unto you now
What has been done
You're breathing so I guess you're still alive
Even if signs seem to tell me otherwise
Won't you, won't you come on a bit closer
Close enough so I can smell you
I need you to feel this
I need this to make me whole
Release in sodomy
Have you witnessed
Blood and flesh can't be trusted?
Have you witnessed
Blood and flesh can't be trusted?
And only this one holy medium brings me peace of mind
Got your hands bound, your head down
And your eyes closed
You look so precious now
I have found some kind of temporary sanity in this
Shit, blood and cum on my hands
I've come 'round full circle
My lamb and martyr, this will be over soon
You look so precious
You look so precious
You look so precious
You look so precious
You look so precious now
You look so precious
Needs more views. Well done 👍
Pretty awesome actually! I would like the mic to be a little higher on the volume. Ben's getting buried under the percussion :(
Is the guitarist on the right playing a baritone acoustic?
Adam Nihei Think so. I just got one myself and its awesome. Check out the alvarez
Ben's been playing baritone guitars since his second album or so, so I wouldn't be surprised.
@Window Diddler
**First album, dumb fuck. First album is baritone PRS Guitars, idiot.
@@MrParkerman6 bro, chill xd
This is great.
Fantastic job!
im suprised by how nicely they pulled this off
creative and fantastic
Love this!!
Bothered me that he got the words wrong... He forgot the part "I'm treading water. I need to sleep a while, my lamb and martyr you look so precious now". Also, I think at the begining it's "I do unto you now what has been done to me". For whatever else great cover!
* "Do unto you now- what has been done to you" and "Do unto me now-what has been done to you. Yes, he fucks up the lyrics. It's annoying.
I’m gonna go see both tool and Breaking Benjamin this year !
nice!
Question. Will you be uploading the whole acoustic set of Breaking Benjamin any time soon on UA-cam? Awesome video, btw! :3
Freddie Zamora I didn't think anyone wanted the full acoustic set! We have one more song I'll be uploading.
Well, I'm one of does people! Breaking Benjamin is my favorite band! xD When I read the description on this video, I got so freakin' happy, knowing that there was a full acoustic set and all. When July 15 came around, I was like, hey, where's the stream? >ω
Though i'm glad a band tried to cover a band as hard as Tool it doesn't reach his level though a big plus to BB for trying :D more emotion next time!
I think is sounds great
They should start a Tool cover band.
Thats how BB started
have more videos like this?
George Antonio we have one more down the pipeline!
Videos of Breaking Benjamin?
George Antonio Yes! we have one more song.
George Antonio I hope not, please dont ever do it again
What the fuck?
So good!
It makes sense that the bongo would translate Danny's sound well since he still studies under tabla master Aloke Dutta
awesome
Umm.... Awesome!
If someone could give me the model of that drum, that'd be appreciated!
This is awesome
Wow!!!
I think they killed it , 👌👌fucking dope!
sounds nice
