Tiguan off road in Cooloola and Rainbow beach on sand and overlanding in the forest

A weekend trip out via Cooloola way and out to rainbow beach, exploring the inland section of the great Sandy national park, small trip out onto rainbow beach as well. The Tiguan did really well in the sand.

Are those VW OEM crossbars on the roof rack? I’ve been wondering if I should get factory, or aftermarket?

Any long term updates on the reliability of your tiguan as an overlander?

Hey mate it’s going great so far, broken nothing but I do employ mechanical sympathy etc. I’ve been wheeling for about 25 years or so and that helps. It now has a steel skid plate and that has made a difference. I wouldn’t recommend anything other then dirt roads with the stock plastic skid plate

​@@eldo4x4 did you get the skid plates custom made yourself or did you find some available that were ready to bolt on?
Also wondering what year tiggy you have, I'm thinking of buying one myself
