  • In the next decade, we will be able to fabricate a new breed of bioinspired robots with increasingly lifelike characteristics. ETH Zurich’s Computational Robotics Lab presents SAM - a soft anthropomorphic manipulator. The touch of this versatile soft robotic hand is so soft it can handle fragile objects.

We have 650 skeletal muscles. I can well imagine that soft humanoid robots with actuators which imitate all our muscles can optically look very human, including natural facial expressions. If a soft robots would have vocal cords in order tho speak, their facial expression during the speech can be perfect.
The challenges we face would be less technical, but how to adopt such technologies in our society.
