    This is the first whipped soap base recipe that I have seen made without using a crockpot. I will have to give it a try. I just don't the EDTA so, i will add another 0.1% of water to keep it at 100%. I will just make a small sample batch to see what I think. Thank you for sharing.

    Thank you for the step by step.I was hoping the end would demonstrate placing the whip soap in a piping bag. I was wondering, once it is whipped does it not harden like other soap?

    • @SummerRainDIY
      @SummerRainDIY  Рік тому

      It does not harden like a bar of soap would. It will stay in a soft pliable texture. I am actually working on another whipped soap video right now, I will definitely show the finished consistency and pipping in that one.

      Great question, @bronwyn6704! Yes, propanediol can often be used as a substitute for propylene glycol in whipped soap bases. It’s a good alternative with moisturizing properties. Just be sure to test it out for consistency and performance! 😊

    I really love this recipe as it uses SCI instead of SCS, much more gentle for the skin. I have substituted lard for shea butter and it is very soft and moisturizing. A few things, I added sugar to this with hopes of making a sugar scrub, it did not work. The sugar melted in the mixture overnight and its now just back to whipped soap. Do you have suggestions on how to use this recipe for a sugar scrub?

      @firdaustahrim4426 Hi! Germall Plus should be used at no more than 0.5% to be effective and safe. If you used 1.1%, it’s likely more than needed and could cause skin irritation. In this recipe, I actually used Optiphen Plus at 1.1%, which is within its recommended usage range.

    Thank you for sharing the recipe and the technique. I just have one question, did you add a granular preservative in the beginning and then a liquid preservative in the middle of the process? What's the reasoning for that please (apologies, I might have missed it if you explained it in the video). The soap base looks lovely. I didn't know if we would need lye to make a soap base, so this was a great video to watch, thank you so much. Liked and subscribed x

      etrasodium EDTA works with the preservative to preserve it’s efficacy. I go over all the ingredients on my blog if you want to check it out summerrain.website/whipped-soap-base-from-scratch/

    I have seen other recipes from other youtuve videos that don’t include the propylene glycol. I have everything else to make this recipe besides that. How would the recipe change if i didn’t include it?

      It is the emulsifier for this recipe, it might not stay together well without it

      @@SummerRainDIYcould Polysorbate be substituted for propylene glycol? If so which one and how much would you recommend?

    I wish people would stop calling this whipped soap. It is not soap. It is whipped syndet

      You are correct, it is not technically "soap". However, it is often referred to as soap, so it makes it a little easier to find the video.

      I do not have any substitutes for it, you can try to leave it out and see how it works.
