【PSO2NGS】How I Handle Techter Sub-Palette Bloat | Tips & Tricks

  • One of the main issues with Techter is that we have a lot of abilities, and not a lot space to hold everything. In this video I go over how I am currently managing the palette bloat through the use of both controller and keyboard. This is possible without keyboard, it just requires an additional step.
Of course this is if you want/need access to everything at once. Given how elements are spaced out in content, much of this can be minimized through weapon palette swapping which provides another avenue.

Cool. I actively play Techter AND Force, so I understand the pallete struggle lol. When I first started PSO2 I played Katana Braver (on base) but when I moved to tech classes I realized I *needed* access to the numpad. My hands cramp something fierce using M&K, so I ended up getting a steam controller after seeing a video of how a player had all their stuff mapped out. This was right when they went on sale for like $5, lol.
To this day I regret that I didn't buy like FIVE of them, at least :'-) .
It took a little getting used to, and a lot of trial and error, but now I can access all the numpad stuff, which means:
    - switching between duplicate weapons with different tech abilities
    - switching between subpalettes for whatever shenanigans I need that for. In base, it was activating wand lovers and the element thing, then swapping back to my main pallete.
    - having access to lock on/target switch, and other QoL stuff like the quick map, the sub-menu, and being able to navigate most menus to some capacity.
ALL FROM THE COMFORT OF A CONTROLLER!!
I even got it to where I can trigger the NVIDIA recording from my controller. It's fantastic, lol.
On top of that, the touchpad on the steam controller gives me incredible control over my camera, and the aim has accuracy similar to a mouse.
I literally can't play PSO2/NGS any other way at this point, but the quality of certain components, and limited availability of Steam Controllers now, means that I've spent... quite a bit more than I've wanted to on them. I now own three, and recently had to order 3d printed replacement parts to fix the first two that I owned, but I NEED IT, lol.
It's an incredible controller that people slept on because it was new and different, even thought it was probably the most groundbreaking advancement in controllers since the dual stick implementation on PS1. Being able to do all of that relatively comfortably with a controller has been game changing for me, even in games beyond PSO2/NGS. I'm not a top tier player by any stretch, but it allows me to enjoy my games without feeling like my controller is a hinderance. Hopefully Valve releases a new version, but who knows with Scuff being patent nerds about those Precious Grip Buttons.
All that being said, I hope they introduce some ways to help alleviate pallete bloat for the average player because my solution is super far from realistic for most people, lol.
Sidenote: Your video about that gifoie parry inspired me to FINALLY learn how to use it properly and consistently, and it's been incredible! I wish there was some "secret" sauce like that for techter.

Agreed. With bloat, SEGA needs to realize some of these skills arent like they were in 2012 and need serious ret-weaking to free up space. Its ok to have a passive shifta aura it doesnt change anything.
I am also in search for the Techter secret sauce.

Thank you so much!!! I use this as a reference to set my sub-pallete. But i still not used to the combo i often pressed the wrong button.

Thank you for the video! I run a pretty similar setup. I was trying to set mine up like base with pb wand lovers and overemphasis on a separate bar, but I only really need more than 1 compound technique on a down and swapping palletes isn't too bad when your mid cast of a compound!

On that comment of shifta/deband: in base pso2, jet boots could execute shifta and deband by using a pa and then a weapon action to execute a different action and triggering the buff. I can see a similar setup for wand working out. Alternatively, I believe lusters would also auto apply it (albeit to themselves) by reaching a certain value on their voltage meter. Granted NGS has a distinct lack of class gauges to be filled up. Side note: I really struggle hitting keys 6-0 on my keyboard without looking down to check lol. I wish I could rebind those keys to shift or alt modifiers :(

Right! SEGA has already shown the PSO2 shifta/deband was stale and outdated with the addition of Bouncer and later Luster.
Why they did not take those learnings and apply it to their future continuation of PSO2 is beyond me.

I recommend getting an x box controller with the 4 extra paddle buttons on the underside. get a 3rd party app (i use RE:WASD) and you can remap the extra 4 buttons to keystrokes and map the keystrokes to whatever you wand in game. really breaks up the log jam for Techter.
Love your videos, your an incredibly talented gamer!

I've been meaning to look into those. I know there are ones that can be attached. Thx for the reminder.

I would like it if they took what they did for Jet boots in base and made it so that you could trigger it during a PA

I was wondering do you know the fastest way to charge up the compound techniques I’ve been using triple shot AOE from Talis along with the multi target weapon action while mixing in normals but is there a faster way with one of the other weapons or a different method from what I’m using

    • @Einhander
      @Einhander  2 роки тому +1

Single target converge shot tech talis PA plus regular weapon build the most compound.
Spread feather for multiple targets. The talis multi target weapon action gets reduced by 1/3 making it equivalent to the regular WA if there are 3 targets, worse if there are less.
Wand based on amount and rate doesn't really compete outside of wand counters. Normal techs do but that requires rod to maintain a high level of upkeep.

I never liked using the analog to activate the hot bar. I’m using lb rb to move left and right and rt to activate. What button do u use to activate the hot bar ?

Using an Xbox controller I mapped it to my b button.
My left stick click/button is how I select menu options, quests etc.

Maybe I'm dumb but where the option in settings to switch sub-palettes with 789?

    • @Einhander
      @Einhander  Рік тому +1

It should be automatic if you have a keypad/numpad on your keyboard. The number keys next to the function keys or the keys at the top of the keyboard won't work.

I personally think that's a mess. I'm putting elemental magic from 1 to 6, 7 S/D, 8 Wand lovers, 9 restassigne, 0 Photon blast. second sub palette with compounds, over, rever and no much more. I'm using my own config btw. mouse wheel to move around the sub palette, F (mouse button 5) to use, mouse button 4 to dash, buttons 7 & 8 (near the left button) to use 9 (resta) and 0 (PB), sniper button for weapon action, wheel left&right to change sub palettes. This is possible with a gaming mouse, in my case I'm using a Logitech G502 hero.

As techter you don't really need element magic as you really shouldn't be casting other than applying the main element.
Swapping between wands to rotate whatever that element is. And it's pretty much at the point where with proper compound use, you really only need two.
The main element compound and zandion. Unless zandion is the main element then your choice depends on the situation. So in this example I'm trying to fit everything but in practice I really shouldn't be.

@@Einhander Well I have the elements there because I use that config with Talis too (I'm using wand/JB multi and Talis) from time to time I get bored of the melee playstyle and change to ranged for a while.
