I'm near your area and need a good paper wasps bait. Any ideas?
Currently unavailable.
We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock.
LOL, it sold out. Oh, supply chain, why do you torment me?
The reviews are terrible. You say it works and pretty much all others say it didn’t catch anything. I’ll watch your homemade video you made.
@@tompvicwhy wouldn't this trap work?
I work for a pest control company for mosquitos and ticks. I've been telling everyone to watch your DIY version of that trap and they loved it
are there any effective DIY mosquito traps?
@infernuu best thing to do is make sure to empty any open containers holding stagnate water. Mosquitos lay there eggs in standing water (still) then when the sun comes out heats up the water causing the eggs to incubate and hatch then you'll get Mosquito larva (looks like tiny tad poles) they swim backwards. Just empty it out and let them fry in the dry sun they will die.
@@walkdeadman9400what about bug zappers?
@@walkdeadman9400Can you spray insecticides in the water?
I wouldn't, lots of other beneficial insects and animals will drink from stagnant water they find. Better to dump it out or be mindful of how water pools around your property.
I dump my birdbath and refill it once a week. Takes about a minute and a half to do.
Shawn is such a dedicated man, he sat there and counted all 142 yellow jackets. 😅
Or so we believe. He could say any reasonable sounding number, and we would be none the wiser.
For a second, I thought the Wasper Blaster was some kind of explosive trap.
I was thinking electric, but C4 is better! :-D
I used to blast small wasp nests off my house with a .22 cal revolver loaded with blanks. The blanks had just enough force to obliterate the wasps without ruining my paint. My neighbors must have thought I was an absolute head case
Yellow jackets are the spawn of hell. They are so aggressive, relentless and sting over and over.
I'd use old salmon or skin over a 5 gallon bucket with dish soap.
For nests, a water fire extinguisher with dishsoap for blasting the nests, no distillates to worry about, reusable, and doubles as a super soaker on a hot day.
I remember your original trap, it was amazing! This one really is a smaller, pre-made version. It's a good option for people who don't have the time or tools to make one.
I wouldn't be grabbing the dead wasps, got stung that way one time
For paper wasps, we started using a super soaker with dish soap in it instead of that expensive, nasty wasp spray. The range is remarkable and gets up in the high points of the barn peak.
and it sounds like a lot of fun, too!
I've used a regular spray bottle with soapy water with great success. Yours is a great idea when you need range!
The nice thing about using water and dish soap it that wasps don't get alarmed when sprayed with it . With chemicals they will immediately scatter angrily , but when sprayed with dish soap the majority will hunker down there and take it as if it were gentle raindrops .
Does the soap kill them?
@@dcferwerda I think it coats their body and causes them to suffocate, but either way it does kill them.
Use jet dry!!! It doesn’t make bubbles and it breaks the surface tension of the water!! It’s used by gold panners
Thanks for the tip
Wildly overpriced, but a good trap. We used the DIY approach in the early 1960s: a bucket filled w/ water to about 1.5" below the top and a 2x4 across the top with a strip of raw bacon thumb-tacked to its underside. Worked like a charm.
You’re not kidding.
Thanks for the tip!
Shawn showed a trap exactly like that a year or so ago.
@@theusher2893 Probably a solution invented a very long time ago. Dirt-simple and very effective.
Finally!!! UA-cam listened in on a conversation and suggested a GREAT video!!!
Your traps always got my vote...AND THIS DEFINITELY GOT MY VOTE!!!
I used glass cans fiiled with water and something sweet (berry juice etc.). Tied several of those to apple trees at our dacha and left them for a week. Each one of them was full of dead insects. Wasps weren't the only ones caught in the crossfire.
It seems raw chicken or meat is the bait wasps like the most while not attracting insects that like sweet juices.
I thought the design of your original video was the best wasp trap ever... Now an easy version to buy.... Great job!
LOVE These wasp videos Shawn, thank you for uploading!! Please continue to upload more
This is a never-ending process unless you kill the queen, and she's not leaving the nest.
BINGO!
Lighter + WD-40
I've done the bucket trick since I was a kid and it works great. For $5, I might consider buying this for the convenience. But $35? No way. I could easily build my own buying just 2 items from the dollar store.
Seeing the wasps take off with the tuna reminded me of one time when we went to BC and the hotel had an outdoor dining area, we had breakfast there and a wasp came and grabbed some egg and flew off with it. Pretty funny cause the egg was almost twice the size of the wasp.
I remember years ago having dinner in the backyard. A yellow jacket flew away with a bunch g chink of chicken as I watched. The nerve of that guy! I am still mad.
There's an outdoor restaurant I go to for breakfast in MI same thing eggs and kielbasa seem to be their favorites. In Missouri the flies out there seem to like BBQ. You have to pretty much sacrifice some of your lunch , place it at the end of your picnic table and let the flies get drawn unmolested by hand swatting and swishes and they'll mostly leave your plate alone.
I loved your original trap, but don't have the time or tools to make it. I will make sure to buy this from your link! Thank you!
Working construction we're always stumbling across nests. Thank You Tremendously for this Video!!!
❤ This one you took pleasure, and I could tell. Congratulations on another good one.😊😊
At $34 I am going with your DIY wasp trap. It was the "bomb".
When I need one I'll probably just print it on a 3D printer
I love the wasp videos keep them coming
This was awesome! It is amazing how they could not resist that meal! They were tearing that tuna apart!
Thanks for sharing your videos and keep them coming please.
Splish Splash I was taking a bath.
Good work Crawdaddy.
Thank you for this work.
I did the bag and sugar water on a steak right over a hole as a kid. Took out the whole nest in a couple of days. I think the Queen gave up and left after about a week. I filled that bag every night. Your raw chicken video was epic.
I don’t know that trick. How does it work?
@@mikebond6328 store bought or homemade sugar water in an open mouthed bag. They fly in and drown. Or hand a smaller bag of something inside the other bag and close to the water with soap in it.
That's pretty slick 👍✌️
Don't spend money on this, just take any container and a plank that's it.
Your homemade yellow jacket trap from years ago is still carrying!
I prefer the gasoline method
amazing idea
Good pre-made trap, but DIY is always better. 👍🏽
That’s perfect. I might get one
👍.👍
A couple of years ago I say your vid, I wondered why you didn't make a good version of said trap.
Thank you though. I've told everyone that has talked to me about yellow jackets or meat wasps about your chicken trap. I still use the info. I move around a lot in RV parks. Loads of meat bees there. Ty
Got stung by a wasp today. Definitely wanna see some wasps die in this video!
My brother was mowing the law and got stung 7 times. I wen't in at night, dropped some dawn soap and jettisoned water down their throats. I will look getting this trap because he has another nest in the gutter/siding of the house.
It works. Bought one after watching this video.
Was thinking something rodalco style with HV grids
Nice video
The Wasp-Wash-9000 works wonderfully :) .
Cool video
That's some fancy tuna for bait...
It gives me an idea how to make one from wire netting and a small tub!
The last time I found a nest, I had to go to the hospital due to how many stings I got. I stepped on the nest while cutting firewood in my woods, and they swarmed me.
I was telling my brother about your DIY trap just yesterday.
And believe it or not, your phone is always listening, and this video was then programed to your video suggestions list.
I once received an add a few minutes after speaking with someone about that particular product.
I have wasps. I got a lot out of the video, but more knowlege left me with more questions.
1. Have you ever put a trap too far from the nest? I ask bc I am concerned about getting too close and distance is my friend.
2. Will this approach eventually kill off the nest? I appears to get the wasps flying outside the nest, but do I need to rid the queen?
3. Is this a singular approach or do you combine it with other things like chemicals or hiring a professional to dig it up? Mine is in the yard under the turf.
A fountain ⛲ in your yard works great too, just add jetdry
As always Shawn, gloves Shawn, gloves. Protect yourself and your family.
Glad to see this trap worked so well! Do you know if there's a way to make a DIY mosquito trap? We could sure use something like that here in Texas.
A plastic concrete mixer tub from Home depot ($7.88) with about 2-3 inches of soapy water (Dawn) will catch millions of mosquitos. An incandescent light bulb over it will draw them in at night if desired.
@@oldrrocr Sounds like it might be worth a try! Anything for bait?
@@efficiencygaming3494 For a mosquito trap, I was pondering using one of those commercial "Smokers Outpost" outdoor ashtrays but place a smaller insulated (Styrofoam) bucket inside the steel bucket inside and use dry ice as both the bait and the asphyxiant for the mosquitos. The dry ice would provide for a slow release of CO2 to attract the mosquitos.
The best natural trap for yellow jackets I know of...is SKUNKS!!
Nocturnal skunks/badgers eat yellow jacket nests! So if you have one on your property, please try not to spay it if it's in the ground because it will poison the skunks! Unless your yard is 100% skunk-proof and/or the hole is in something other than the ground, l like in between the brinks
👎
👍
Tuna with water or with oil
My questions is, does this eliminate yellowjackets around the area? Or do you keep a trap like this out all season because they remain all season until it gets cold, but just stay around the trap instead of ither areas of the yard?
Dang I remember the meat under board vid from at least 2020 , but lots of stuff going on , planet etc, God speed
I've seen the DIY version.... using cat food as bait.
Giving tuna to bees I want what you're smoking
Evil things
Man! Was that a lot. Chicken works the best with any method of catching yellow jackets.
Looks familiar......
👍🐿👍
Could you do DIY and maybe bought Mosquito traps sometime?
Any traps for the giant Japanese wasps??
Do a video on how to get rid of large Bumble Bees, and Wasps please
How great is that
Not bad but I like your DIY version better. i have been using that for 2 summers and it works great
Throw some freebies on top so itll send out their yellow jacket gps signals 😂
mmm snack time
Oh wow, I was literally watching all your yellow jacket videos the other day, it’s like I willed this video into existence!
Would you use this for a paper wasp nest? Would you also use meat as bait?
If this will work for the paper wasp this would be awesome because plenty of them around in every nook and cranny of the outdoors.
Shawn that trap looks familiar you made a homemade one once
Does this work with red wasps?
Watch out for Waespus
Interesting.
I'll never complain at seeing a bunch of greedy apples get dunked on; wonder if there's a way to make a people sized version of this 🤔
Does the soap prevent them from crawling up the wall of the trap?
It helps them drown faster as they cant 'float' as easily in the water.
Does anyone know if this works on mud dauber wasps?
I'm trying to trap paper wasps with no luck. They don't seem to be attracted to fruit or fruit juice as lots of sources say they should. They show no interest in it although there are lots of them flying within inches of the traps. Anybody know what bait might work better?
It is safe to handle them?
Does this work for Mud Daubers?
Even though they're dead, seeing you pick up a handful of Yellow Jackets made me cringe. I have a huge wasp nest on the peak of my roof I need to deal with. Exterminators wanted $279 to just spray my roofline, and another $100 to remove the nest three days later.

I went to buy one with your link and it says currently unavailable. Sold out?
The bald face hornet was gonna eat the yellow jacket, unfortunately it got caught too! I got a yellow jacket nest in the wall of the house and we used a shop vac with water in it..worked great!! Bee stew anyone??
The soap is used to suffocate by clogging their breathing sphericals, and/or dissolve the insects waxy exoskeleton. 😉
The balls of steal on this man to touch these dead bois with his bare hands
Link to your video showing how to DIY?
Take a container of any big size, that will hold water and has no top.
Cut a board to length to set across the container, but is only about 1/3 as wide.
On the board bottom, figure a way to hold pieces of chicken to it. Cooked or uncooked I don't know.
Set the board, with the chicken, on the container, chicken on the bottom, leaving plenty space on each side of the board for the wasps to fly under the board.
Fill the container with water to within 2" from the chicken.
Add a good amount of Dawn liquid soap to the water, then
stir the water well.
Done.
@senatorjosephmccarthy2720 thank you for the instructions, but I was hoping MTM would provide the link like he said he would in the video.
Bicarbonate soda and Vinegar in an appropriately sized container.
I sucked up 262 yellow jackets today with a vacuum cleaner 😊
That wasn't soap, that was detergent, although probably soap would work as well.
Unavailable on amazon
How do you keep animals like raccoons, dogs, cats, and etc. finding your trap and destroying it?
The Rescue Why Trap does not work. Set one up 4 days ago and have not caught a single wasp. Maybe I should give this trap a try.
👍
Thanks for the video. I love the concept of a cage and the access panel. Spit balling here. I'm wondering if the sides of the cage were screened so only access is from the bottom. would improve the efficiency of the trap.?
I want one of these for my mother-in-law!
Lol. Monster in law
Make sure you use a bait that she likes... 😂😂
Will she fit?
Kinda expensive for a couple of pieces of flimsy plastic. I do like the design of top loading instead of screwing pieces to wood and flipping it over.
That's the patent system for you
👍🏻
I tried your homemade version of this trap last month, and the yellow jackets flew right past the raw chicken I put out on it - as well as jam - much to my dismay. Maybe these were a particular variety of yellow jackets that don't care for meat or sugar? Very strange.
