- How can you not run out of time in your history GCSE? As someone who ran out of time in my mocks but didn't in my actual exam, I attempt to explain.

Probably the most underrated revision channel, keep it up!!
Aww thanks :) And I plan to keep on going like I am...
You stare intensely into the German History Paper.
*The German History paper stares back at you, piercing through your soul, seething with resentment at the fact that they were placed with you, you who did not revise at all and instead wasted time morphing deeper into your sofa crease*
This made me laugh! In spite of the misfortune of your paper, how did it go? :)
@@Alonglongtimeago Did get to finish it, however I have a bad feeling I didn't back up all my paragraphs with enough facts,as I feel as if I didn't have enough time, I wish I saw this video before. I feel as if I've capped myself at a 7 (let's be real, it does feel kind of disappointing)
I know what you mean, even though 7's a great grade, when you're aiming for better than that, it can be pretty disappointing. That aside, chances are, you did better than you think you did - on my results day, my results were way better than I felt like I'd done coming out of my exams. I could have told you all the specific things I'd done wrong in my history paper and that I thought I was going to get a 7, and maybe scrape an 8 if I got really lucky. So don't sweat, you've probably not capped yourself at a 7 - it's going to be hard to convince yourself of that until results day though. :)
Im now gonna use this in my English Language paper 👁️👅👁️
This channel is such a good help honestly recommend to many people. Just wish I found this sooner not the day before my exam 😭
Aww, thank you, pleased I could help and blame the UA-cam algorithm! :) Good luck tomorrow!
P.S. Defo go recommend to people. I need the free advertising! :D
I waste so much staring at the invigilators
Pro tip: In your actual exam, finish the paper first, then stare a the invigilators.
@@Alonglongtimeago genius
the invigilators are suppose to stare at you the examiner not the other way around
😂
Why am I finding these videos a night before my first history exam. They’re actually so good and I wish I found these sooner 🤦🏻♀️😂👌
Aww thanks :) Blame it all on the UA-cam algorithm!
@@Alonglongtimeago Me too I just binged watch all of your Weimar Germany videos very informative and helped to make amazing flashcards and notes
For anyone doing Weimar and Nazi Germany, my history teacher always advises us to start with question 3a. I skip question 1 and 2 (don't worry, I come back to it at the end) and start on question3 which has the most amount of marks. However, she (my history teacher) says not to start with question 3d (the big essay 16 mark question) because you can use your answers from questions 3a, 3b, and 3c in question 3d.
Sounds smart yet all GCSE Papers are different
The hardest bit for me is learning the content, mind maps and flashcards and timelines are in a big pile on my desk. I think I'll muddle through, and your videos really help with a quick summary of the topics!
Thanks :) Learning the content can be quite laborious... Just make sure you break it up. And if you feel like you're heading for fast death by flashcard & mindmap, do something a little more creative (like making videos... So long as you don't try to out compete me!)
I was really content with the exam on Monday. Our history teacher does play alot of your videos as summary videos. Thankfully I remembered facts from your videos. Thank you!
That's really good to hear! :) + Your history teacher has a really good taste in UA-cam lol! :D
my trick was to read all the questions through and hit the ones I can do quickly, as those are free marks. Then work though the question in order of difficulty to me, leaving the hardest for last. If I run out of time, I will on the last to me question, and will get partial marks for it. Most times, the process of answering the easier ones, help get me rolling for the others.
I'd agree that's a good way to do it - it's essentially what I'm trying to say in the vid, but you should also aim to do the bigger questions first.
This is the best youtube channel ever. My exam's tomorrow. The videos are so helpful, especially the Weimar series. You should definitely complete that.
youre such a gem of a person thank goddddd
Aww thanks
I did my year 10 history mock today. I was not happy with how much I did so came on here to find some sort of reassurance; this really helped I just wish I found it before my mock!
Thanks for the info👍
That 3rd Step seems very helpful will use it tommorow in my mock test and if it works i'll try it again in my real mocks in June🙌
Pleased you found the video helpful! I'm interested to know, did it work? :)
@@Alonglongtimeago Yh they would have but my History teacher only let us do the test for 50 mins i missed the last question but i think it is my best history exam yet we'll see with my results😅
I just had my paper 3 mock exam on Weimar and Nazi Germany and I intentionally left the first 4 mark question (state 2 inferences from a source) so I could finish question 3d plus I got a nasty source for source utility so thanks this is 🤩 and I m gonna use it for my November mocks in year 11
Honestly, I don't even think you are supposed to think at all during these exams xD
I am new to this channel and I find it really useful. Thanks
Thanks, pleased you've found my channel useful! I basically, if you're going to think, you've got to be able to do it at the same time as writing! :)
Can you do a vid on how you revised or like your pile of revision?
ua-cam.com/video/SBw_Rk73I_M/v-deo.html
A long, long time ago... I forgot that I watched that vid too. 🤦🏾♀️
@@lisvea5963 You can always watch it again! :) (get my watch time up for me lol)
I have 4 history papers AQA
Normans
Germany
Conflict & Tension
MEP
ALSO I believe that they have added more time to the history exams
ahh, that explains... I was wondering what MEP was because I'd never heard of it, but it turns out it's an AQA thing. I did Edexcel, where we have 4 topics but 3 papers. And you're right that they added more time to the history papers...which I completely forgot about when filming this video!
Hello again
@@legendaryubagel2383 Hi?
@@Alonglongtimeago not you i meant to say to inferno, i see this guy on every gcse vid i watch lol
@@legendaryubagel2383 oh haha lol, the pair of you get around!
I know you’ve told us that you got a 9 for your History GCSE but what did you get for your other GCSE’s?
Excellent... an excuse to show off! :)
I got:
English lit 8
English lang 8
Maths 8
Biology 8
Chemistry 8
Physics 7
Music 7
Geography 9
A long, long time ago... Damn. That’s hot.
@@jeshinmurugiah765 Hehe, thanks :) Some say I sold my soul to the Devil for those grades. Which begs the question... What do I have left to sell to him at A-level?
This was useful!
What A- levels do you do? (I’m assuming history?!🤣)
Pleased it helped you :) Shockingly, I do indeed do history lol. I also do geography, art and btec music tech.
Great video, any chance you could go over more of your how to answer questions video , eg question 2b can never seem to crack it !
Thanks :) My plan is to do more of those videos, though it may be tight with whether or not I manage to get round to doing many more before exams start.
The way I managed to not run out of time was to time myself on all of the questions I looked at the big digital clock and gave myself roughly 10 minutes on the first few questions then I saved the most time for the last one. feel free to change how much time you plan to spend on a question
hope this helps
But theres so much to learn!!!!!! How are you supposed to know the dates and names from like 4 textbooks for gcse 😂😂
If you're struggling with learning all the content and feel overwhelmed by it then you're probably trying to learn too much. Pick out the really important key dates etc and learn those, don't worry about the others until you've got the important ones nailed. When you come to the exam you'll probably discover that you know more than you think.
Thanks so much - you’re better than any of my teachers!!
fr like my history teacher has been teaching for over 5 yrs and she can still do a better job than her lol
your channel is godsend!
awww pleased I could help! :)
If possible could you do exam videos on weimar germany and elizabethan England
Love ur vids 💗
Aww thanks :) I'm going to be doing a stream before the Germany exam where I cover the whole topic (time and place yet to be arranged, but I'll make a post in my community tab when it is). I'm not knowledgeable enough on Elizabethan England, however, to do a stream on that. Good luck today!
Amazing video, hope i just good grades
I hope you do to :)
Get* 😔
Amazing! Thank you so much!
thank you so much you're AMAZING 😃😃
Impressive
Ahhhhrrrggghhhh... Such good advice...... .. 1 hour late...... But jeez, your videos are good! 1+ sub. Hope I'll do better after Crime and Punishment after watching these.
Pleased you liked it anyway lol. Hope your exam went well today (or at least that you didn't completely flunk it!). :)
@@Alonglongtimeago Ah no. Just missed the last two paragraphs of a stupidly easy essay on the reforms brought about by William in 1066... Otherwise, if I get full marks on the rest, I should at least get 80%
@@Francesco-ql3nv I presume you missed them because you ran out of time? But dw, you still have 2 other papers, so long as you do well on them it shouldn't make much difference :)
@@Alonglongtimeago Yeah, ran out of time but carry on doing your videos! Weimar Germany's the big crunch. Have you covered Elizabeth and The Cold War yet?
@@Francesco-ql3nv Yeah, good luck on Germany. I don't currently do Elizabeth & Cold War on my channel as my school did Anglo-Saxon & Norman England and the American West for paper 2 instead, so I don't really know much about either topic (certainly not enough that I could teach it), my plan is to cover them in the future tho... (unfortunately that's no good for you...)
Would you lose marks if your structure is boring e.g. repeating sentence starters like saying "For example..." whenever you introduce evidence
Nope, be as boring as you like, it's all about hitting as many check points as you can at GCSE!
Where do you find practice questions by the way, do you know any websites? I can never find any.
There are some practice questions on some topics on my quizlet: quizlet.com/class/7246753/ and I will also leave practice questions in the descriptions of my history-specific videos.
But also (for all your subjects), the exam board website is the place you want to go (but they can be tough to find on the website if you don't know what your'e looking for).

Hopefully that's enough practice questions to sort you out! Good luck :)
me with my Germany exam tomorrow 😶 but im okay now as i struggle with timing with crime and punishment i had 30 seconds spare and i was dreading my Germany paper
I am definitely in the process of selling my soul to the devil for my gcse grades which is fun 😂(help me)
Dw, selling your soul for some 8s and 9s is defo worth it. Just get thinking about what you're going to sell to him next for your A-level exams and beyond, because you don't want to run out of things to sell to Beelzebub too quickly. :)
Useful :)
That was always my plan! :)
@@Alonglongtimeago :)
I like mind maps
Mindmaps are good - not so keen on them myself, however, as mine always turn out so messy that I can't understand half of it
Hey! Your c+p vids were very helpful! Do you do weimar germany, Elizabeth and the American west? Thanks!
Pleased you found my C&P vids helpful. I do stuff on Weimar & Nazi Germany, and also the American West, but not Elizabeth unfortunately! :)
You look like maddie Ziegler when she was on dance moms :) thank you for this video!
i googled her and I'm not sure... is that meant to be good or bad??? Anyway, pleased you like the video!
Love your vids.😀😄😆😃
Problem with me is I rush😭 in my mock I was 1 mark off an 8 because I rushed on the 12 marker and didn’t put enough evidence
The opposite problem to me lol! I was 3 marks of an 8 in my mock, so whilst it's frustrating, I think you should be on course to do amazingly in your actual GCSE!
A long, long time ago... I really hope so with ur tips 💗
Is paper 1 just the whole of crime and punishment?
Yes. So it's crime and punishment, including the Whitechapel bit.
@@Alonglongtimeago then paper 2 is weimar Germany and cold war? I know the exam is like super close and like I dont know this by now and it's really bad BUTTTT just wanted to say you're really under rated for your videos they're really useful and I've made the majority of my notes based off your videos!
@@luku2844 Thanks, happy my videos have helped you :) Paper 2 is cold war and whatever other topic you're doing (anglo-saxons/richard & john/Elizabeth/Henry VIII). Paper 3 is Weimar Germany.
I somehow manage to finish the exam, but that's probably because I'm not writing enough
something not nice
I explicitly said not to leave 'something not nice' in the comments and now you do this to me? That's so mean! :)
Oops
2019 GCSE! NOOOOOOO!
The sooner they arrive, the sooner they're over. :)
Exam in 2 hrs wooooooooh
Im gonna fail....
You ‘should’ve been happy with a 7’
How dare you! lol
Why are you so pretty?
