the lack of Cotton/Ladybird scenes I always attributed to Ladybird being scared of Cotton's personality and hides when he comes by

Seeing how ladybird attacks people who hank hates, like repairmen, I could see her having to be kept away from cotton when possible

You're my favorite essayist/reviewer/youtube talking person when it comes to King of the Hill. You have a cadence that's easy to listen to, but then you throw in jokes that make me look up from my projects and say 'wait what?'. The work you put in shows. Thanks for all the hard work, and looking forward to season 3! You're doing great!

i always took the "you're so very clean" as bit of a gag with Peggy grasping at straws in listing achievements for Luanne. Like it was just the first thing that she could think after having listed the biggest ones
Yeah, and since Luanne grew up in a trailer home, she might not have grown up with a lot of good hygiene practices taught to her or demonstrated, since not all trailer parks and trailer homes can accommodate a lot of showers or make the showers be something you do more than once or twice a week, max.

I love the longer videos where you take a deeper look into what's being presented. I do not like when reviewers literally just spit back information I can just google and find on a wiki somewhere. Videos appeal more to me when it feels like the reviewer or content creator actually care about what they're making. Keep up the good work. ❤

I’ve gotta say that I really appreciate your willingness to make longer videos when it what benefits the material. I prefer binging longer-form content anyway, and your reviews are both funny and well-produced, so I’m definitely willing to wait for a higher quality video. Keep up the great work!
Season 2 is usually when a show starts hitting it's stride or completely falls over itself. Luckily koth managed to stay getting better

I haven't sat down and watched KotH properly in years, so it was kind of a shock to learn that all these iconic episodes were in season 2 alone.
I always enjoy the super long video style you have. I only just started the video. However, these really do help me find a way to relax and decompress after these long military days. I'm working 5am to 8pm, I do get breaks in between but it's nice to come back to my room and watch your reviews that make my day a lot better. I really do thank you for all the way you are making so much effort and giving insight into these reviews of my favorite shows.

It’s funny to think there are people out there who won’t watch a video because it’s 45 minutes, because I won’t watch a video under 25 minutes. I love long form, so seeing your videos grow in length really excites me. I love listening to your opinions on King of the Hill and would love to hear your take on anything else that interests you too. Keep on trucking! 😊

I was always bummed that they didn't continue the arc with Luanne being good with cars. The manger babies are cute but I always felt like her being great with cars could have been a source of empowerment.

I've been watching your channel since you started it. Don't know if I've left a comment before. But for real the long video essay style is so in right now man. I need an hour long video dissecting something I love while I eat dinner. Truly the longer the better. I don't mind waiting longer in between videos 😀😀

Your videos are the one series in years I've followed from the start, every other review saga or video saga aside from gameplay videos are ones I've found after they've had their run, a lot of shows too, so I feel pretty cool to catch this series since the beginning! Though I cannot wait to binge the full spectrum of the series, I've already rewatched so much from this series, words like Char King or the J5 are ingrained in my brain

Two things:
I had the exact conversation with myself that you laid out about the “you’re always very so clean” remark. At first I thought maybe she meant Luanne had avoided making the same mistakes as her mom, but then I realized she wouldn’t have said “always so very” if that’s what she meant.
The other thing is, I appreciate your longer videos. I work in a factory. Right now I’m making cases of 120 bags that have to be hand counted. I’m sure glad you’re here to talk about King of the Hill, I’d be so bored without content like yours.
I like your quality VS quantity approach in your videos. You do set out better videos whenever you put thought into it, instead of just rushing and just putting out a halfway done project. King of the Hill season 2 is where it keeps getting better. Season 1 was good, but season 2 gave more depth to the characters. Great retrospective man, take care!

36:44 I'm actually surprised you mentioned them, because their Sonic CD/Sonic 3 & Knuckles remixes are honestly my favorites, and they have a ton of great remixes.
Keep up the amazing work! It feels like a long wait between episodes, but they are definitely worth it. I am always excited when I get that notification a new one is up! I love putting on KOTH as background noise when doing work, but honestly, I find myself putting on previous reviews you have done now instead.

About your videos becoming longer, I like them long lol. I got into you by binging what was up at the time and now I wait for each video to release. I never even think about how long it's been since the last one because the videos are always long when they do drop so I feel satisfied when it's over. I took the "to death" aspect of your name to be a play on just how "no stone left unturned" the style of your reviews are. You review that episode -to death- lmao and I'm happy for the videos being long. I guess I'm your specific demographic.

Second season is one of my faves, and I think you did a fantastic job.
17:27 If there's one thing I've learned is that coming between Hank and Bobby in any way is the gravest sin a character can ever commit on the show, so Bill should count himself lucky that Hank only threatened to put a boot up his ass considering how other characters faced a much dire punishment for that
My favorite thing about these videos is that they're not bogged down by trying to genuflect before the standards of THE ALGORITHM, or at least they don't feel like it. It gets really tedious to listen to video after video where someone is for example reading something from text off the screen but they substitute something in that text for something more mild, or when the voice-over is constantly buzzed whenever something sensitive comes up. Please never lose your sharpness, or let your bones become dusty and/or full of green dust.
Love the long form videos on one of my favorite shows. Also your music choice is en pointe. Always love hearing Chrono Trigger covers in videos.

Tbh I enjoy the contrary takes as it’s makes the videos more unique and interesting. There are plenty of people who reviewed KOTH stuff and many say the same things in different ways so it can get boring.
Honestly now I’m just curious what other captains the other seasons will be. I’m expecting a Byakuya or possibly a Shunsui but if you can pull off a Mayuri or an Aizen comparison that would be pretty funny!

Honestly I love your videos and the longer ones especially. It can be very interesting both to watch on my second monitor and more 'actively'.
I'm just some random fan on the internet but I'm here mostly for the more in depth analysis rather than what feels like extended shorts.
Also those Megaman covers were badass in isolation but I can see why they're useless for the videos.

Imagine if Bobby had actually managed to go on stage during that fashion show, and instead of doing nothing while Dewley threw donuts, Bobby actually grabs a hits Dewley with it, right as Hank arrives.
I appreciate how much thought you put into the music as you talk about at the end of the video lol -- there are certain youtubers i cant stand specifically because they use the SAME SONG IN EVERY VIDEO and it gets infuriating
I've dealt with homies that were addicts or drunks on construction jobs. Its f'ing rough man, but some of them do try :/ and im amazed they can even show up when u having problems and working such a hard job.
I gotta imagine and hope cotton is nice to dogs considering how most vets especially ones with ptsd have a deep love and respect for dogs n cats. Ladyburg is old so she probably doesn't just get around much when the house is chaotic.
The one think about getting rid of Luann's car knowledge is that in hindsight, would have made the inital connection of her and Lucky make a bit more sense

Season 1 set up the groundwork of what kind of show KOTH is, but Season 2 kicked it up a notch!
Not just tackling serious issues, but also showing our characters having flaws; showing Hank in more unfavorable light
Season 2 is pretty good, JR. If I had to choose a favorite season, it would be up there.

Peggy compliments Luanne’s cleanliness because she ran out of things to compliment her on, that’s the joke. It’s not a comment on drug use or about Luanne being a dirty poor person or whatever, it’s the same kind of compliment you’d give a child for keeping their room tidy. Are people really that obtuse to argue over a throwaway line like this?
I think Luanne not pursuing the car thing makes sense for her character. She can do it, but did it more out of a sense of duty than a career choice. Even when she didn't want to do hair anymore, she never thought about fixing cars.

I've trashed you in past videos here and there because I let my social views take over but at the end of the day I like your videos. I watch them all.
I was thinking about the reboot. You think Bill will end up with a child in his life years after his trip to Louisiana in "A Beer Can Named Desire"?
I think that idea could make for a really interesting/fun plot! But I think that:
A) That manor seems hella cursed and I believe most of Bill's extended family (apart from Gilbert) seemed to have died by the end of the series...I think he mentions that Violetta suddenly died in her sleep or something equally as grim.
B) That would require the writers to actually remember the episode and try to get audiences to remember it as well-which is a little too much of an ask, given how much time has passed, even for such a well-known/iconic episode. If I had to guess, the reboot will be going for the broadest strokes they can, dealing with either new situations or only bringing back the most remembered storylines.
I do hope I'm wrong though, as I would love having some strong fan service call-back storylines.

But you make a good point about bringing back something so far out. The episode is almost 24 years old.

If the relationship between Cotton and Bobby is something to go from, I believe Cotton would be really nice towards Lady. Deep down He's a caring and loving person, even though he shows it in different ways, but it's Cotton Hill we'll never know.

Thing is, the big episodes get covered by everyone who does reviews on this show. i do look forward to your takes on some of them, like "Witches of East Arlen", but your way of doing things has the advantage that you cover stuff nobody else would.

Hank got Ladybird because they didn't think they'd be able to have kids. He even mentions that having Ladybird relaxed him enough that he was able to get Peggy pregnant with Bobby.

@claymathewselevator8121 he rode horses in two episodes. One when he brought the horse for Bobby's birthday and the other when Bobby was in military school. So I think there has to be a fondness and/or respect that you can ride an animal like a horse (in fairness, a horse serves a utilitarian purpose, so it's like a soldier or worker).
Cotton didn't really wanna bother with pets and kids, until GH was born. I think the episode that Cotton got the job as the restaurant host and then was relegated to bathroom attendant, he was actually trying to change himself for his son. And his needle goes to the other end of the dial with GH compared to Hank. He dotes on GH, while he would have not let Hank get a dog just to be cruel to his son.
And he still went back to nasty rotten selfish Cotton. He loved GH til he died, but he was still mostly rotten to everyone else.
I think Peggy said Luanne is clean because her parents were probably pretty filthy, so it's an accomplishment that she can keep up her hygiene when that wasn't originally taught to her
