The main issue is that the strongest enemies you can recruit tend to have some form of friendly fire, ie the none beatle void enemies and the dunestrider. After that they have either low damage or low accuracy. Something worth noting is the reason why enemies like the wisp and larva are so dangerous is that they tend to hit, but their dps kinda sucks.
Most of the things that were rated poorly are basically auto wins on Engineer. (stationary turrets) Rack, N'kuhana's, and Aegis mixed with bungus turns them into near unkillable monsters with homing projectiles. Sure, that's not all easy to get, but you only really need any one of those plus fungus to see amazing results. All that said, pretty good list! I definitely didn't know that they boosted the damage output on Headstompers so much.
My favorite engy setup is triple bungus turrets with a caffienator and squids. The healing from the turrets easily makes the squids last forever (as long as they spawn in the radius of the healing) and clever turret placement can have all three turrets benefiting from all the bungus fields (four if you count yourself) while still covering a huge area
Honestly though, screw stationary turrets cos they suck, I prefer being able to turn them into heat seeking suicide monsters by stacking the homing mines on top of them.
I feel a good fix for aegis would be for it to also have a support mechanic mixed into it, so nearby allies receive a % of the shield you gain from aegis. of course this would work on summons too, so it isn't a horrible solo buff before you say this makes engi busted, engi was already getting max shields from aegis in ridiculous time frames. he's just a character that benefits from reds an insane amount due to his stacking nature. plus the devs have already stated that they don't care about balance too much.
@@lapotajunior5072 The one good thing about the item is that it scales with health so if u had like 10k or million u will keep barrier while healing and get 2 layers of one shot protection honestly underrated also pretty much double health

Aegis can be used for Rex and Engineer to make them unkillable, you can use it on anyone who shoots fast if you build for the crit healing. N,kunhanas opinion is the same deal as it'll add on extra damage once you have a couple scythes, that and bungus makes it endlessly fire.
Best use for #26 Aegis I found was to help Huntress do the Piercing Wind challenge, along with Topaz Brooch, Forgive Me Please, and a source of healing such as Leeching Seed.
I really like N'kuhanas with Weeping Fungus and little disciple. It's definitely weak if you aren't playing command because you have to hyper stack healing items
Opinion is pretty good on engi or void fiend, but otherwise really bad. Also iirc laser scope only increases damage by 50% max, as crits already deal 200% base. if you are killing enemies before roughly 8 seconds, but after you hit then 5 times, justice is just a better scorpion, so I'd put scorpion probably behind justice. I was mad when I saw clover at #2, but then I remembered headstompers. Completely right. So many runs carried by this.
Was gonna comment this same thing but for Aegis. Aegis keeps me going for quite some time with an infinite healing Void Fiend, especially since apparently barriers also get their own one-shot protection, meaning I can have it twice for free on top of being able to heal a billion health in three seconds by mashing one key. Outside of that I get the placement.
I wish red items had extra special effects if you matched them to their designated survivor. Ex: rex and deskplant, laser scope and rail gunner, engineer and spare drone parts, captain and icbm, frost relic (maybe Tesla or behemoth) and artificer, hardlight afterburner and mercenary, scorpion and Rex (maybe? Both monsters kinda) Smook (sentient meat hook) and hunteress (she is a hunter after all I just feel like smook fits) headstompers and loader (maybe Mul-T) not sure for the other survivors but let me know what you think!?

I think n’kuhana’s isn’t so bad and I’d probably personally put it higher because it’s like a budget little disciple if you can get some wungus, or it works nicely on crit builds/characters if you have a scythe, but it still takes a lot of variables to work well so I understand your placement of it. It’s kinda similar to the pocket ICBM where it is useless without the right handful of items, but N’kuhana isn’t nearly as impactful when it has the right items with it. Overall tho I would probably have a similar list if I made one right now, with a few minor adjustments for personal preference. Good video :D
I just miss the old Resonance Disc. It was so much more rewarding to play with because it incentivized a high risk-reward playstyle. The new one just adds random, skill-less damage independent of how you play.
Brilliant Behemoth is honestly just, straight up #1 for me, it is an utter powerhouse, stack it a few times on something like Mul-T's chaingun and you've got the ability to splash the cash with needleticks, lost-seer's and other such things.
I do want to say, that Brainstalks is actually pretty nutty at loop 1 and onward or if you like using artifacts. Since so many enemies are elites, it then becomes easier to kill elites because you have more access to the higher damage and potentially mobility of your characters kit, but unrestricted. As someone who loves Rex, Brainstalks is an enthusiastic welcome to my runs.
Im very new to the game but i love Aegis mixed with N'kuhana's Opinion. As engineer put your turrents next to each other while they have the funny shroom Since the rings overlay they will, heal to max, over heal to somewhere of 3 times their health as well as constantly spam the ghost skulls. As well as offering a little safe area to run to and quickly heal to 3 times your hp.
Happy mask is an item that will get you killed. I once got a grandparent ghost and he did a spirt bomb, which proceed to kill everyone in the party while we could do nothing about it
topaz brooch can be useful if stacked with tons of gasoline, giving you almost full shield in a press of one button Really helped me on runs with loops
So about aegis, I used it for a bandit run where I also got leech and just a shot ton of healing items but I got the red hellishly early, (if I recall it was from stage 1 or 2 from a big chest) it made the run so easy and fun but yes it does need either building up or it comes too late but it shows how good red items are if gotten early
Drone parts seems crazy to me. I just started playing this game. I have failed runs in the first stage several times. The only time I have won is with drone spare parts. I don't think I got past stage 4 before that.
Headstompers has always been my favorite item period. I don’t rlly agree with it being #1, but I do think that it is underrated and it has won me many runs.
It's really great that Headstompers is the strongest item in the game because it's also my favorite item (at least favorite Red). No fall damage and mobility increase are nice, absolutely unconscionable damage AND it's AoE? Forget Kur'skan, this is a one item transformation that turns you into Mario. In the Paladin mod, with the rebalanced Sun skill, the Ancient Scepter upgrade tosses the sun for 4000% damage, and now that ability I thought was broken strong is actually weaker than my House Arrest Ankle Bracelets.
I feel for engi specifically, dio's teddybear is probably next to number 1, cuz it keeps your most likely already busted turrets out longer, letting you do god knows what engis do when their turrets are nuking everything
the happiest mask is so fucking op in the original ROR. I played that game quite a lot and the moment i heard they were bringing it into 3D ror2 , i knew it was going to fail. the reason why it's so op in ror1 is because of the two dimensional gameplay. the ghosts are almost ALWAYS within attacking distance of an enemy in that game. adding a third dimension for the ghost to have to walk around really killed it's usefulness and then on top of that, they actually decided to nerf the item by changing its stats.
I think what you failed to address with the soulbound catalyst is that it basically makes spinel tonic immediately infinite. You have 20 seconds to kill 10 enemies for the spinel to become self sustaining, which is very easy on anything other than the first two stages of the game, where you probably won't ever get this combination of items. It also won't save you against mithrix but if you got catalyst and spinel, you can steamroll the entirety of the game on a loop and get a couple of cells or gestures.
was playing around a little bit and Aegis pairs really well with Huntress, Harvester's scythe, and plasma shrimp (with crit ofc) 6 arrows, 1 missile per arrow, each missile crits and heals you a ton. not sure how it works with other survivors tho
I won't go through the process of doing reviews for EVERY one of them, but I'll give some small opinions once again. Though I'm kind of a noob so whatever. N'Kuhana and Aegis are a pair of tools that are HEAVILY build dependent, but the small handful of characters is IS useful for make them terrifying. (Namely your Bungus Engineer builds and Wungus Rex builds, where I've played with 2 friends on rex and with a combo of Wungus, N'Kuhana's, and Energy Drink just kinda ran around the map spamming way too many fireballs and somehow still doing work. I'm admittedly a fan of Happiest Mask while knowing it's pretty bad, but stacking the odds in my favor by slowly amassing a small army is neat, though the low proc- chance hurts it a lot.
head set definitely broken. Carried me through mythrix. Made it so my fight wasn't an uphill slog slowly chipping away at mythrix using poison. my last run didn't have head set and I had to kill each phase using poison. It was a nightmare.
Aegis is central to my builds. I combine the scythe, lens maker goggles, and the razor wire so that I heal for all damage I deal and receive. Granted, I also use the artifacts of command and sacrifice, so I can camp on stage one until I have as many of each as I want.
The thing with IDP and forgive me please is that it drops the ring in the same spot over and over, so while you need to stand in the one spot there’s ab 10 IDP rings in that spot making you heal almost instantly
"I don't think I've ever had a run where I thought to myself 'gee, you know what this run needs? Brainstalks.'" I've unironically thought this quite a few times, although in fairness it is very character-dependent and I main Slicing Winds Mercenary where it's probably a top 5 red.
I love scorpion but my only problem with it is that if mithrix or your umbra hits you with it, you have a permanent armor debuff you can't get rid of unless you're playing as void fiend

As engineer put your turrents next to each other while they have the funny shroom
Since the rings overlay they will, heal to max, over heal to somewhere of 3 times their health as well as constantly spam the ghost skulls. As well as offering a little safe area to run to and quickly heal to 3 times your hp.
Happy mask is an item that will get you killed. I once got a grandparent ghost and he did a spirt bomb, which proceed to kill everyone in the party while we could do nothing about it
frost relic is one of the BEST items with a melee character imo
Imo was one of the best from ror1
First time watching this guy but he seems to know a lot about the game and family conflict!
im glad to see your grandson going on the right path 😁
I'm him, thanks for your support!
wait wasnt that his nephew
topaz brooch can be useful if stacked with tons of gasoline, giving you almost full shield in a press of one button
Really helped me on runs with loops
Happy birthday, Ezekiel!
Ending was hilarious, also really liked the interruption from (Bowser?)
GREAT video disputed, I actually saw your grandson the other day, great guy, i don't know what he was doing in a fursuit tho
I'm still on my way back to the right path...
So about aegis, I used it for a bandit run where I also got leech and just a shot ton of healing items but I got the red hellishly early, (if I recall it was from stage 1 or 2 from a big chest) it made the run so easy and fun but yes it does need either building up or it comes too late but it shows how good red items are if gotten early
aegis is god tier on engineer, get some bungi, place the turrets to heal each other and boom, constant double health
Aegis + N’kuhana’s are S tier on Engi if you have a decent amount of fungus IMO, trash on everyone else
facts, but sounds like he has only a few specific survivor types in mind for his analysis
Tbh he did admit they are situational. And you scenerio is decently situational
mobile turrets better tbh
@@himkoto249 no
@@Octavian999 I find them way more fun
Aegis with corpsebloom means you have max barrier most of the time
Drone parts seems crazy to me. I just started playing this game. I have failed runs in the first stage several times. The only time I have won is with drone spare parts. I don't think I got past stage 4 before that.
engineer: watches video "nukahana or whatever tf its called sucks!" *angy*
#22: Alien Head
Mercenary mains who know: *"Who's gonna tell him?"*
Imma need that remix of "Your Affection" old man.
Headstompers has always been my favorite item period. I don’t rlly agree with it being #1, but I do think that it is underrated and it has won me many runs.
and he didn't even talk about DroneParts unique interaction with engineer turrets and how BUSTED it is
this video was literally the reason why i stopped scraping headstompers
That was hilarious please do a tier list for white items :3
It's really great that Headstompers is the strongest item in the game because it's also my favorite item (at least favorite Red). No fall damage and mobility increase are nice, absolutely unconscionable damage AND it's AoE? Forget Kur'skan, this is a one item transformation that turns you into Mario. In the Paladin mod, with the rebalanced Sun skill, the Ancient Scepter upgrade tosses the sun for 4000% damage, and now that ability I thought was broken strong is actually weaker than my House Arrest Ankle Bracelets.
Also mans literally put moon shoes number 1 just so it wouldn’t be a predictable clover 🍀😂
Nah headsets are legimately that good. Especially if you get even 1 band
I feel for engi specifically, dio's teddybear is probably next to number 1, cuz it keeps your most likely already busted turrets out longer, letting you do god knows what engis do when their turrets are nuking everything
that "God knows what" Is finding more items for their maste- I mean turrets like a lost puppy.
Finally someone who puts alien head in its place. I swear everyone is convinced is a god tier item but it’s just really not great
Brainstalks with Diablo strike is very fun, especially on Simulacrum
true, i didnt consider simulacrum for this, but in that mode stalks/agies/nukuhnua are very good
I love the persona music in the back ground I cant see anyone else talking about it
Useless fact:
My very first item in RoR2 was Hardlight Afterburner from a standard chest.
Are we gonna skip over the fact that he already has a 10 year old grandson despite sounding pretty young???
SOMEBODY FINALLY SAID IT. Headset really is the best legendary item in the game, instant sub.
the happiest mask is so fucking op in the original ROR.
I’ve seen this video probably 10 times now, 9:33 had me tripping sack when I noticed top left corner
For reference I’m on mobile and my entire screen was black except for a dancing thing
ICBM and Drone parts are my favorite, and i like Laser scope cuz i play Railgunner a lot.
It also won't save you against mithrix but if you got catalyst and spinel, you can steamroll the entirety of the game on a loop and get a couple of cells or gestures.
was playing around a little bit and Aegis pairs really well with Huntress, Harvester's scythe, and plasma shrimp (with crit ofc)
6 arrows, 1 missile per arrow, each missile crits and heals you a ton.
not sure how it works with other survivors tho
Nice persona 4 music in the background
Im subscribing for whatever the heck that bit was
head set definitely broken.
0:45 this man has never seen an engineer with thirteen bungus and a nukahahas
I enjoy bottled chaos on eclipse as its a guaranteed pillar skip provided you are patient and or lucky enough
#1: "turns into Mario"
I like brainstalks a lot, but it’s super character dependant, like, it’s virtually useless on mul-t, but omg brainstalks on merc is so much fun
Brainstalks.'"
I've unironically thought this quite a few times, although in fairness it is very character-dependent and I main Slicing Winds Mercenary where it's probably a top 5 red.
Bens raincoat is a really good addition to a no cooldown blast shower build
Putting brainstalk below resonance disk is insane imo
You were right. I was indeed scratching my head, but you made some good points, not even gonna lie.
I love scorpion but my only problem with it is that if mithrix or your umbra hits you with it, you have a permanent armor debuff you can't get rid of unless you're playing as void fiend
As an engineer player, who always uses fungus, putting aegis at last is disrespectful with fungus you are able to get nearly double your hp, forever. Don’t doubt the words of the engineer. This is a joke, or is it. Cool vid! Useful.
Acrid and headstompers is fun af
Ressonence disk is nuts on Engineer when all your turrets fire the lasers too
