I can't tell if there's a faint sample of "Glory Box" (or something "Glory Box" sampled) playing under this or if it's just the delivery making me think that.
Holy shit, I actually love this it’s really brilliant. I mean it’s just so chill yet agressive but it’s so original, like I can’t imagine this on a skating polly record, it just sounds really new and cool. The lyrics have no shame, don’t give a shit what you think and it’s beautiful, and the way they’re phrased is just heavenly.
"I freaked out that she was dumb enough to OD in my house." This line has all sorts of emotions whizzing through my head. Sadness that the young woman in this song saw her only way out of the abuse was to take her own life. Anger that the bloke who pushed her into the state of mind that she took an OD. I also think Kelli is both brave and wonderful for doing this song from the perspective of the abuser of a young woman. On top of all that it is a great song, thank you Kelli, Scott, Scot and Buckethead.
Addicts often put themselves in not as good of relationships to continue their self abuse, but we have no sign here of any violation of rights among two who lacked respect of each other.

That was unbelievable. So many layers... I don't think I even cracked the surface with my first listen, and yet I enjoyed it so much even now. Will be back for more.
This is swimming, even over shitty phone speakers, the keys and rattling production on the organ are sickly sweet and gorgeous. The harmonies on the backing vocals add so much to the space too, It gud i like
Bad Ass! Love the starkness of the literal lyrics framed by metaphor. Using blunt exposure of his ugliness so this guy can never use this song as a trophy of a young woman's broken heart, knowing they will hear the truth in it.
Absolutely marvellous. She is a great artist. This song is in my brain and does not leave since I heard it the first time… just need more songs like this one.. strong lyrics and this voice… wow👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
I feel strong Trip Hop vibes with this one, which ist great, since I love that genre. Nice job Kelly and Buckethead. Here's to hoping there is more coming.
I thought a long while ago there was something about Kelli set to star on some show? Am I wrong or is that something still happening? I cannot wait for the next Skating Polly album. They get better with each one.
this was so really freaking intense and powerful. Still I feel the urgent drive to pour bleach into my ears like right now. I sometimes doubt whether I get too much info when listening to music compared to other people.
@John Williams 😂 & you know this how? Let’s just wait & see shall we. I’m hoping it’s at least as good as their last 3 albums & if it turns out better then all the better.
The beat style reminds me of Atmosphere. Check out Atmosphere-Bda Maka Ska… not to take away from the goodness of this song. It just reminds me of that beat and style, and I wonder if atmosphere is an influence. Great job!
Buckethead like the crazy dude that wears a KFC bucket on his head, and that did the power rangers theme song and is one of the most insane guitar players ever? That Buckethead?
Heard this on a random radio playing in the background in Norman/Moore OK area the other day. I believe 106. something. So I hastily typed in some lyrics, after scrolling a little bit found it on genius. Here I am, I am very curious what that radio station was. Very easily caught my attention this song.
I gave Skating Polly a listen after a conversation with friends . I don't see what the big deal is. Kelli and her sister are just rehashing 90s grunge and alternative. This is just a very bad Portichead impression. I get why folks like them. NOSTALGIA!
Wow, I love how you utilized the power of all-caps there at the end to emphasize the slam-dunk power of your mind-blowing deduction...yours is an impressive mind. News flash, Jack, you don't know why anyone likes what they do, and no one chooses what they like; they just know it when they find it.
The best part is you don't have to listen to it man. Where's your solo work? Better still how many albums have you released? More to the point, what makes you think that you have an educated opinion on whether or not the music is good? Have you ever picked up an instrument, played it and given that music you made to the masses? No.... no you didn't, so your AWESOME opinion is not valid. Have a nice day.
Have you listened to their third album Fuzz Steilacoom? It’s their best one imho. How much did you actually listen to them? All of their albums or just a few songs?
CONGRATS KELLI!!! I LOVE YOU AND I AM SO PROUD TO BE YOUR SISTER
Hi queen!
Hi Peyton, when are we going to hear a solo song from you, please?
This message warmed my heart
Hey Peyton glad you and Kelli possess special talents whether it's in solo or band and your music lifts me up. Thanks!
Discovering you guys was the best thing that happened to me during this shitty pandemic. Keep up the good work!
Kelly Mayo solo stuff? Not something I asked for but something I needed
If this song was twice as long, I’d be okay with that. Love how the vocals were layered and the edit of the vid itself.
Wonderfully airy, there's a faint nöd to Portishead in the lyrical delivery, which is nice.
Yeah i heard it straight away too
I can't tell if there's a faint sample of "Glory Box" (or something "Glory Box" sampled) playing under this or if it's just the delivery making me think that.
@@mvsr990 Exactly, it's sort of there but I don't know if it's deliberate or just coincidentally similar . Either way it's a great song.

This song has a dark, ironic, bluesy feel. What an amazing voice. Good to know Kelli's back!
Can't wait to have the time to study the lyrics. This writing style is fantastic.
I'd be totally down if this song had like 12 minutes, such a masterpiece of art right there. Kelli you are a genius.

What a laid back groove that sort of creeps up on you, then at the same time it slaps you in the face with a powerful haunting message.
Really good. Really uncomfortable and sad, but that's the point.
Portis Head Vibes, Super dope !!!
Bit of a Portishead vibe going on there, musically. And a powerful pay-off with the lyrics at the end. Nice.
Bad Ass!

Gets better and better with every listen, and I've had a lot of listens! Love it!
Haha. Yea

Fucking love it!
Great Job guys
Unbelievable writing for such a young human! Very well done. 👏
HOLY FUCK GIRL, YOU ONLY GET BETTER
Kelly sings for Portishead or Massive Attack? Sounds good!
FUCK, after hearing 'Don't Leave Me Gravity' they got my attention, again. Then I find this~
I feel strong Trip Hop vibes with this one, which ist great, since I love that genre.

Go Kelli. Hope you liked the Camelot soundtrack CD ... :)
Idk if they're an influence but I'm picking up strong Portishead vibes. Really digging this track.
Great stuff, Kelli!!
this is incredible
Big fan of the deep low bass. Rock is sadly lacking in the lows. This is perfect.
Like Portishead with fresh 2020 flavours
