    Decided to save my $200 and just buy to higher watt power supply. After watching like 10 videos it didn't make sense especially without a boost in gpu performance. Also not worth the fps gain even if it is a small boost. The $200 can be use toward a PS5 or something. And considering if you get a 2tb M1, it is only an extra couple of hundred to upgrade to a 2tb M1 pro (base). I hope this comment can help someone else because I've been researching for two weeks stressing myself out but considering how quickly these chips are advancing it's not worth your money for something that will be "slower" in 10 months compared to the 2022 chips, 2023 chips, 2024 chips etc.

      So which will slow down faster in the future? The 8 or 10 core? I got my MacBook Air nearly 2 years ago and it’s so slow, it’s making me very upset since I spent a lot on it. Would any of these two models slow down in this time period too?

      Too small ram, smallest ssd (it's the slowest in reading and writing), and the macbook are known to have the slowest monitor on the market for time response and imput lag. You can solve only the first two thing choosing 16gb ram atleast and 512gb atleast. You can also use an external monitor btw.

    One extra tidbit I didn’t see mentioned in the vid is that if you upgrade to any of the higher CPUs from the base model in the 14in (including the 10 core in this vid) you’ll also get a 96watt apple usb c wall brick instead of the 67watt one, so tbh I think that outweighs the slightly more power hungry cpu! ALSO if you go through apples education storefront and buy it with that discount applied, that model comes out to $2,030 USD before any state taxes, so you’re really only paying $30 over the base models MSRP (atm they don’t do any verification of student or teacher status but you didn’t hear that from me lmao)

Some people get a difference in final cut with more cpu cores doing prores since not everything is done by media engine. Probably depends on what types of effects or adjustments are done with more complex timelines

    During the CPU temperature section both screens are showing 2 efficiency cores and 8 performance cores and the two GPU clusters are listed as having 8 cores on both as well, not 7 on the left hand machine.
    On my 8 core m1 pro I also get 8 performance cores listed instead of 6 but the GPU clusters say 7 not 8. Any ideas ?

      those two I would pick the M2 air but for the price of the M2 air with 16gb of ram instead of 8gb - you're not too far of the price of the base M1 pro 14" base model which has a better screen and sound than those two, and starts with 16gb of ram and 512gb if that could be of interest? many places have the 14" on sale also because of the M2 models.

  • @teh_hunterer
    @teh_hunterer Рік тому

    I don't think the 10 core model is worth it. The better bang for buck is either the base model, or going to the 10 CPU, 16 GPU, 1TB version. Extra money just for CPU cores doesn't really make sense for the money - The M1 chips are CPU-heavy and GPU-light, so just upgrading the CPU further isn't going to net you much tangible benefit.
    As an aside, the M2 is a more balanced chip given that it adds a couple of GPU cores. Something people don't talk about much.

    I have the feeling the 10C might be a better choice due to build quality, since the 8C are 10C with CPU cores deactivated by Apple due to quality issues. Maybe I am wrong, but that could be a reason to go for the 10C.

    • @ophrasbankaccount7716
