Never apologize for liking a movie, remember it’s your opinion anyone gives you a hard time in the comments then too bad, let them create their own channel. As for Lake Mungo! Dear Lord, you mentioned that movie and now just thinking about it gives me the creeps.
I totally agree with your skinamarink review. It moved me in a deep way. I cant even call it a "movie" but an art house experience. I loved it so much

Saw X was the first time in a while I changed my mind and said 'yeah keep making these they're good again'. Cobweb was worth it just to see Andrew Starr and Lizzy Kaplan act like nervous lunatics for most of the film.
Probably wouldn't rank a Poirot film as a horror but I do like Branagh's take on the character. Plus, I didn't watch the original versions of these stories so they've all been fun to follow along with like a proper murder mystery.
When Evil Lurks wins my splatter award for the year. Honestly can't believe went to a few places they did. It's got a similar level of 'whoa' to the shock factor as Serbian Film but it's not tryhard like that film.
Thanksgiving had moments but I can't forgive Eli for not making it a 16mm period piece set in 1976. That aesthetic is too appealing to me. But it did deliver on the kills. Basically a Scream movie with a pilgrim instead of Ghostface. In fact now that I think about it that's exactly what it is.
Evil Dead Rise was a worthy torchbearer for the franchise but probably my least favorite film in it. But by all means continue to make them lol.
Talk to Me was great. Reminded me of Sissy, another Aussie movie that just kinda came out left field and delivered on a budget. Love seeing international cinema pull out gems like that.
I loathe Skinamarink. I 100,000% fall on that side of the aisle lol.
My favorite for last year was Beau is Afraid. I'm every inch an Ari Aster fan. That movie is so viscerally unnerving in ways that I've only seen filmmakers like the Safdie Bros, Saulnier, and Zahler doing in recent years.
And honorable mention to Pope's Exorcist for being ridiculous but fun thanks to Russel Crowe being amazing.

If I have one request, I'd love to hear your thoughts on a movie called The Spine of Night. Semi-recent adult fantasy/horror rotoscoped animation film on Shudder and it's got to be one of the coolest little hidden gems in recent years.

any chance you can do a top horror sequels video? you rec'ed exorcist III which I had never watched and i loved it. now I'm wondering what other sequels i've missed.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who was disappointed with FNAF. I don’t think it was bad nor good but there were still very enjoyable moments. 5/10 maybe I need to get more into the lore or smthn idk.
I guess my gf and I are the only two people who liked Insidious: The Red Door 😂 I thought it was a nice ending for the family and gave the series some closure.
Talk to me is a freaking amazing movie, fun quick story I was supposed to go on a date and see the movie and the girl stood me up, so I watched it alone and it did me well!

I enjoy the content you post, respect your opinions and normally find myself agreeing with most of your horror takes. That being said, I can't put Skinamarink even in my top 5 for horror films from last year, let alone no. 1. To me it's this decade's version of the Blair Witch Project: a indies film on a very low budget that succeeded in the box office due to its word-of-mouth marketing, but after the initial watch is just a boring film that most likely won't age all that well.
Hoooooow do so many people like the Nun 2 more than the first? I genuinely had SUCH a good theater experience with the first one 😅
Skinamarink lookd so scary that I turned it off bcuz I didn't know WTF 2 expect. I thought I wuz gunna b w8n 4 uh heart attack....& I saw tha Exorcist @ 5 years old @ tha Drive In & wuz traumatized. So tha tone of Skinamarink wuz 2 much 4 @ this age. I felt trapped ina nightmare.😮😮😮
I loved the atmosphere of Skinamarink and the new style of analog horror, but all the tension and suspense felt wasted on cheap jump scares from just loud noises. I loved the third act much more than the beginning but I def wanted more from it
So like in the Exorcist novel, Friedkin takes the audience to real locations. For me, the BELIEVER film (first) shatters canon by taking its audience to a made-up place called Percy, Georgia.

When skinamarink came out I was super intrigued, then I heard a lot of negative reviews so it turned me off from it, but after hearing your review it’s given me a new perspective on it so I’m definitely going to give that a watch!
Putting a movie where literally nothing happens the entire runtime over everything else of the year is certainly a choice lol
I really resonates with the tone and suspense in Skinamarink. It captured a childhood fear like nothing had for me, so yeah it was the one I walked away from the most impacted
Don't know if they count cause they came out last year I think, but I really liked X because it was disgusting yet fun, Barbarian because it kept me guessing, and Men because I am a pretentious twat

Finally watched Evil Dead Rise for the first time last night and I think it solved the problem of Evil Lurks. Nobody really made any stupid decisions that make you groan. Yeah, the kid accidentally summoning the demons was dumb, but he's a (likely non-religious) kid who found something old and interesting, it makes sense that he would explore that. The only reason we say he's stupid is because WE KNOW he's in an Evil Dead movie lol

Have you looked at my channel? I cover smaller and underrated horror all the time. I literally just made a video about a trailer for a movie that was made for like $15,000. I said in this video that I didn’t get a chance to see everything, and if I didn’t see something I can’t rank it. Also for the love of god my top spot was Skinamarink. Chill out

Yeah I can tell you’re just spewing hate that’s a ridiculous thing to say. I can’t cover every movie that comes out I don’t do UA-cam full time. If you’re unhappy with the kinds of videos being made by horror channels, then make your own. Problem solved
Wow, there were a ton of awesome horror films in 2023 that weren't on this list. I disliked most of these. Have you not seen Dark Harvest? Unwelcome? No one will save you? Influencer?
Talk to me was a huge disappointment, I went to see it because people where talking about it and when I actually watched it I was honestly bored, there was like 1 scary moment and there was no creepy factor plus it was soooooo predictable

My problem with this video is only one thing. Evil dead rise was too high up. Honestly the worst horror movie of the year. But i guess that's cause evil dead is my favorite franchise
Evil Dead is my second favourite franchise, still adore Rise after multiple rewatches
@@RocklinGraves I waited a month to watch it with my dad in theaters. We thought it might've been the other people that were ruining the experience that caused us not to like it. But we waited a few months to rewatch it and that's when we realized. It just didn't feel like an evil dead film. It wasn't the setting cause the ash vs evil dead series took place in multiple settings. It wasn't ash not being in it cause well we love the 2013 film. To us rise just felt like a regular possession film but just with blood and that it tried too hard.
I guess that's why I hated it the most it was just disappointing.
But glad you enjoyed it.

This isn’t a review lmao I’m not getting deep into the movies. It’s a ranking video. Brief descriptions are all I need to give. Also there’s a difference between you not liking a movie and it being overrated
It may not be the best but I definitely had fun watching it
I didn’t like “talk to me” that much. I found it to be predictable. That being said I don’t feel the need to come down on people that did enjoy it.
This is how it’s done
I am yet to watch Aterrados whis was a precursor to Where Evil Lurks and I really liked that one. I also have Skinamerink and have heard mixed things about it, but haven't watched it yet. I will now watch it tonight. My brain is telling me it's gonna be like Koyaanisqatsi with scary imagery.
I will add that I didn't like talk to me as much as everyone else. I think because I'm 42 and the themes show my age. Also I thought the main actress was great, but I think the rest of the cast was lackluster.
It's funny to me that the horror community is mostly supportive and wholesome
