Colton from Redline Restorations loves finding a car with a great story. When he began restoring a Hemi Cuda that was pulled out of a barn in Europe, he learned it was the legendary car driven by Henri Chemin.
This is an awesome story of putting an old guy at his home back in his race car for one last time
Grant Joseph Brannock guaranteed he got laid that night 💯😂😂
80 year old guy...probably still faster than 90% of weekend warriors today, lol. Great find and story!
I would say so, considering he was stomping euro cars on tight winding courses in a Hemi Cuda. Takes a rock solid pair of balls to hoon it out that far.
Those old timers have forgotten more about racing then most of these new guys will ever know. Epic car with an even more epic story 😎
=my dad
We need more rabbit videos
Sup dad
Rob Pitts 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 yes sir
Pity there wasn't youtube around to document it
Look dude, if my grandmother was a world renowned race car driver, I wouldn't only hand my keys over, I'd be grateful for the opportunity to see my prized car be driven by such a person.
Exactly. The car to the old guy was probably like a part of his body, to the guy who restored it, it was an investment.
I agree totally. And if there ever was anyone who had the right to crash the car it would have been the original racer of the car.
Ed, congratulations on 700k +. I am not a tech guy so I don't have any of the other apps so I couldnt ask you anything. I didnt have a question as much as I wanted to tell you how much watching your videos help this 31 year old struggling though life. I have a great job and great girlfriend but I have been missing passion. Between going back to church and working on my cars my life is turning into what I feel my time on this earth should be. Thank you for everything. Sincerely, Jeff from Pennsylvania.
Thanks!
those center lock BBS's are beautiful on that car
so 80´s...could be a dead ringer for an 80´s street racer in North Europe... actually there has been plenty of Hemis and Copos getting hammered overhere every night...
I do remember very well mr Henri Chemin, he was some kind a hero for me when i was a kid.., Thanks a lot for this sharing... Love that..
That 'grandma' could probably lay down a lap several seconds quicker than you! I respected this guy right up until he called an ex-racing legend a 'Grandma' behind the wheel of his own race car. ABSOLUTE TOOL.
Yeah I'd moreso be worried of him purposely slamming into a wall so his last moments are him and the damn car lol
NO doubt!!
he was describing his own feelings not judging Mr Chemins talent or experience.
That kinda rubbed me the wrong way too.😒
yeah what a douchebag with his douchecap
Epic. I mean. How many race car drivers get to drive the car again the way it was 40 years ago. Just amazing. Im So happy things like these happen.
Well done gents. This is the kind of story that should accompany all barn finds. I'm so glad you decided to share it with us.
Keep em' coming!
Last time I was this early grandma still had good credit
And Kimmy didn't have her butt implants yet!
XD
lennier1 lmao
@@Iskelderon beat me to it!!
Doesn't grandma still have good credit?
This is one of the best episodes I've watched in a long time! Great story and it's nice to see some car images and video throughout the episode rather than just watching someone talking all the time. Thanks for sharing!
I must say.. I gave a negative comment to a previous video of yours. I sincerely apologise. I will do everything I can to take it back. You're amazing in doing all the research and hard hours of restoring this car. And you handed it over like nothing with everything to lose. Hats off to you sir!!
Cudo's to the old race driver, he's still got it!!! Great story!
Excellent, excellent, story here !!! I wouldn't let anyone drive my car, let alone this old dude. This is exactly why I'm a tradesman who takes very little risk, while these car restorians make the big buck. You deserve every penny you get cause your taking some massive chances with a ton of money. Love the channel, God Bless 🙏
9:55 No Supra, GTR or Corvette could ever aspire to be in the same league as that Hemi Cuda.
Yo man nothing like your grandmother he's a professional race car driver give him a break by the way he drove that professionally you just fixed it up
Great story, but damn, show some respect. I doubt letting this legend drive is the same as If I handed the keys to my grandma.
Franco-American CUDA BABY! That is a super rad car and great video!
These are the kinda of stories that we all loved..... except when the car is locked.
TOTALLY rad... 😁
Casey Putsch I can’t be the only one to who thinks that the BBS basket weaves look super rad on the Cuda.
@@BrownSofaGamer only seen those wheels on that car in the Foza or Need for speed Video games
I didn’t realize they had center lock wheels on street/ muscle cars back then.... but then, the ‘Cuda is more of a race car than street car.
I appreciate this one isn't a BLEEP every other word. Good job keeping it cleaner. Thanks and thanks for sharing a great story.
I love it when this old cars come back to life! Thanks for sharing!
What an absolutely fantastic story!!! Keep them coming, love it!
Thanks for respecting grandpa he has stories to tell one day that could be you!
Great story but needed a different Teller.
Jordan Shoultes why?
@@coldtheminer He comes across as a bit too self absorbed.
Agreed. I found the storytelling very flat.
@@coldtheminer
Well, they could start off with a guy who knows how to pronounce "Renault" and "livery".
Doesn't exactly inspire confidence in his knowledge about anything else re cars.
Yes. Made a great story boring.
Thank you Vinwiki, to post a video every morning, I watch every video in my workplace before actually doing something important
Love the Pistol Grip shifting the NP 833 A ! Looks Super!
What an amazing story! The storyteller is a great speaker too. Great video, thanks VinWiki!
Great story and a great site..my story goes like this..i found a nice 87 porsche 944 at a yard sale..not running..that was 5 yrs ago and i still have it..the kicker is that mario andretti signed the dash for me when he was doing signatures at the firestone in st catharines..mario is such a nice humble man and the king of racing..what a honour to have him sit in my 44 .
this story was crazy, it had me on the edge of my seat. mad props guys
Wow,^ that's a great story! That's why I keep up with this channel. Truly touching that you gave this man a chance to race his car again.
Hands down my top favorite 5 of all time cars blessed to just see its full figure, alive & Kickin
i think it's dope to have the old guy put the hammer down in THE car again. I love these stories!
Love seeing and hearing about these vintage race car recoveries.
Last time I was this early Ed still had stock knees.
that was pretty great, reunite an old racer with his car and he shows how its done, thats one tough dude for his age and that was probably a huge thrill for him
With the 1970-72 Hemi Cuda being my dream car, this story really stuck with me. He said it right when he said it's the epitome of "muscle car"
Cool video on an iconic HEMI Cuda. I had a 1970 FC7 Plum Crazy 4-speed HEMI Cuda for years. It was a super track pack with console delete, no vinyl top, black interior and hockey stick stripe. We sold it to a man that had a large car collection near Chicago.
I couldn't stop smiling when I saw that old guy cruising that car down the track with his helmet on shifting gears your a wonderful man recreating this guy's race car and letting him take it down a old tracks he has been down so many times this was such a amazing story I wonder where the car is now will the original race car driver keep it or will it be in a museum? I'm hoping it still gets enjoyed and driven
This is my favorite story so far!! Well done
Don’t know how I missed this! What an epic story! And my man tells it perfectly. That is a special talent to convey that excitement with words. Plus the vinwiki production helps a little. Great editing whoever does that! Cheers
I like these stories better than the Lambo ones. American Muscle is amazing.
If you say so
Dont agree. We europeans have grown past the american shit muscle cars.
Yeah, right. You would sell your soul to have a '69 Boss Mustang over there.
@@larslegomann5287 Europeans have shit car culture
@@larslegomann5287 thank you for saying this. I'm not sure now you take a mint mustle car over an exotic thats worth 3 times the price and actually ya know..... Corners like its supposed to....?
One of my best vinwiki videos. Awsome
I don’t know about your guys grandma’s, but my grandma could burn rubber on the freeway in 4th gear . She had a 69’ RoadRunner with Pink interior. RIP grandma
Glad to hear that the old chap was giving it the full send!
Having some experience in this I can say this. Pops had it....When youve raced and more specifically raced a certain car and been successful with it youve developed this bond where in you are bringing the car to the brink of killing it and it killing you , the moment you set foot in it and thats what its for. Its like an on off switch. If you are in that car this is what you are doing and your muscle memory kicks in and takes over. It becomes robotic even if it may seem like mayhem to anyone watching.
I would go out on a limb and say it would be a hell of alot harder for the old guy not to drop the hammer and ride around playing nice nice then it was to just let nature take its course.
To say its "Like riding a bike" is a gross understatement .
He was riding around all by himself so just be thankful he didnt have anyone to chase :)
Love you guys at Vinwiki!
Another amazing day😀
Cudas always have amazing stories
Bought a 70 challenger R/T , Plum crazy purple, matching # 383 magnum , fender tag with build sheet for $8500
In What year did you buy it
David Coronado 2012 , the guy was getting divorced from his wife and needed to sell it fast , she did break all the windows in the car , lol and there was gun shells in it too , makes u wonder
@@samuraisaint2360 wow , i love it when cars have stories lol you got super lucky i bought a 74 challenger 360 2 years ago for 15k in good condition
How the fuck
David Coronado very nice!! Classic challenger”s are all rare unicorns , hold on to her
Great story teller! Didn't give away the ending until the actual end! Had me biting my nails, and it's not even my car!😄
One of the best stories yet! Redline you killed it!
While it is not my cup of tea, I really appreciate the work that goes into preserving and restoring significant cars. While I love to modify my -50'-60's vehicles (because they really didn't drive as great as we remember them driving), I go out of my way to try and make sure I avoid the rarer cars or cars with a solid track history. From the hand full of snaps and clips in the video that looks like a top notch job of preserving a legendary car and seemed at home on the track turns. Great work dialing it all in from scraps of info!!.
I understand you built the car. However, he raced it and did very well with it...how disrespectful comparing it to giving the keys to your grandmother.
No matter what happened that day at the track. You can’t buy this story of the original race car driver being around after you restore his race car. Legends.
Thanks for bringing colton back he is awesome. Keep bringing him back for more great stories. I always love it when racing legends never die.
The past meets the future and you know it was worth every second.
Absolutely fascinating history lesson, thanks!
Awesome story behind the car and awesome to see a cuda over seas that kicked a litte butt brought back and reunited lol
Great story & told well , thanks so much.
Grand tour had the original driver of a Porsche race car (917 I think?) behind the wheel of that car too, just great to watch these old racing drivers work their magic in their old cars
Great story Bro, Love this channel!! Thanks for all the work you guys put in these videos!!
Great editing with showing the driver putting his helmet on while talking about him. Well done
thats incredible. i geek out so much over old race cars. there was recently that long lost fb rx7 race cars that turned out to be one of the sort of test cars during the early development of what ended up being the 787b.
One of those photos @ 6:18 shows a 71. you can see the fender gills (which werent on the 1970 'Cuda, just the "71)? Hmmm????
Yup, it's clearly a '71 in that picture - not just the fender gills, but it has dual headlights. So, is that the same guy in the photo as the one being "re-united" with the car? If it is - he had two race 'Cudas. Somebody clearly had a '71 race 'Cuda - maybe it's still in a barn somewhere? The old video footage clearly shows a '70 'Cuda, raising the possibility that the one that was restored was that one - the driver said it was re-painted red and white, like the one in the video, before it became all white.
His stories are quality.
It would be so cool to own a car with history like this.
Best story yet! So damn cool. You never know where you'll find a jem.
That legendary race driver from the 60's worth more in knowledge and stories than the Cuda' itself. The Cuda' will stay for ever not the Man..
Experience is key ! Old men know what’s up
Great story of a great car, very entertaining!
This car is absolutely perfect ive always loved the cudas doesnt matter the year just love the cars
I’m a simple guy. I see a MOPAR in the thumbnail, I watch
Good rule
Simpletons and world elite agree that its Mopar or no car
Thank you Ed Bolian & everyone at VINWiki from all of us here at Redline Restorations!!
One of my favorite story tellers
They put blocks on his feet and gave him the keys to a race car. Now your must be one badass old man to pull that off lol
the old man is my hero
Driving a classic like that in another country, is like driving an exotic here, it's great that Non American car enthusiasts can enjoy our cars too!
Vin wiki is one of my favorite yt channels period
Crazy story, this is like the unobtainium of barn finds.
"Chrysler used to own this damn bad boy" lmao
Ed, Colton is a definite keeper. Great, one of a kind, story!
Awesome story. I can't even imagine how the original driver must have felt when he saw the car finished and when he drove it.
This story is incredible
That cuda is absolutely beautiful
this was such an epic story
Love the wheels and the stance.
2:25 made me choke on my spaghetti. PEUGEOT 😂😂
That was an epic amazing story! What a find! I would love to hear where the car is now and how much it sold for if he sold it.
Loved the way he pronounced Renault, livery, and icon.
That car should go to Goodwood to run the hill.
You folks should try to get Mike Finnegan on the channel
Finnegans stories would all start with "one time me and david got drunk and had an idea...." 😂
What a great car and story
6:20 Now you just have to find his '71 race 'Cuda, restore it and re-unite him with that one too!
lmao hearing Americans try to say Peugeot or Renault (or Citroën for that matter) never gets old.
TBH, if I was that old racer, nearing the end of my life, knowing that I'll never have a chance to drive a regular car ever again, yet alone a race car on a track.. I'd honestly probably consider flooring it at the straight, unlatching my racing harness, and hitting the barrier straight ahead at top speed; go out in a Blaze of glory, rather than finishing the run, getting out of the car, never to be at wheel of a car ever again, only to return home as a broken and tired old man to slowly wait for my inevitable old man's death and can only pray it happens in my sleep.
Raven Steven A. Smith voice: STAY OFF THE DAMN WEEEEEEEEED.
Great story! What kind of value do you put on such an iconic vehicle....???
Great story!!!
I hope we have more from Colton.
Fantastic story.
Pretty cool makes you wonder what else is out there's !!!!!
Great story bros!
