The issue is also the conglomeration of media. We used to have thousands of newspapers, hundreds of radio shows. Now most media are an owned by a handful of billionaires who all support Trump. I was on the (patreon) live yesterday, and I have to admit that the conversation about Black people being hesitant to support certain causes anymore could have been better articulated. I understand that, for Black people, there's a valid reluctance to be expected to show up for others, especially when we don’t always receive that support in return. However, some issues aren't straightforward when it comes to their impact on Black communities. One point I was trying to make during the live was that Black people are not a monolith. For example, when it comes to Gaza, there are a significant number of Black Muslims in the United States who are concerned about what’s happening to Palestinians. One thing I emphasized in the live was that when we choose to boycott or support causes, we should consider the intersections that affect us and act accordingly, but we shouldn't sweep black people into one group. Also, I think it’s important to be cautious when expressing views on the effectiveness of boycotts or supporting social movements. It’s unwise to say or imply that boycotts don’t work, given that many organizations have unethical practices. The purpose of a boycott isn't to completely cut off every organization we disagree with; rather, it’s to have a targeted approach, which is why movements like BDS exist. They provide clear targets, making boycotts more strategic and impactful. Boycotts work because, in a capitalist environment, politicians are influenced by corporations that fund their campaigns. When corporations see their products being boycotted over social issues, they may pressure politicians to shift their stance to protect their profits. While this isn't an ideal situation, it demonstrates how we, as people, can use our spending power to drive change.
I was disappointed with that take as well. Black people's spending power is 1.4 to 1.8 trillion dollars. We could definitely make a difference with targeted boycotts & investing into our own businesses/infrastructure (farms, education, tech, etc).
@@patricecaudle7284yes and honestly our ancestors gave us the blueprint. Montgomery Bus Boycott and The Boycotts that helped to end Apartheid South Africa are great examples.
Listen, I have love for everybody. I grew up around Latinos and alot of them don’t even like black folks. Alot of them think they’re better than black people. Most, if not all groups of people have anti-blackness mixed into their culture and look down on black people. Middle eastern countries still have African slaves. People in Ukraine were throwing black people off trains when the war started and the list goes on. Black people need to focus on ourselves and stop caring about communities that wouldn’t give a second thought if the roles were reversed. It makes us look foolish to keep advocating for people that mock us behind closed doors. I’m going to mind my black business from now on.🤷🏾♀️💅🏾
Anti-blackness is universal. There hasn’t been unity among Black and brown (as well as Asian) people since the 60s and 70s. That is because the latter groups accepted their “white proximity” placement. Whites have successfully convinced the entire world Black people are the global problem.
There hasn’t been unity among Black and brown (as well as Asian) communities since the late 60s and 70s. That’s because the latter mentioned groups accepted their “white proximity” pass. DeWights have successfully convinced the entire world Black people are the global threat and problem. It’s universal.
You can affect US policies with purchases, down-ballot voting strategies, by actively contacting your elected officials and exercising your vote on how and where your investment funds (pensions & 401K) are used. A bundle of many small twigs can be a mighty weapon. Las Vegas was built using union funds.
I don't think we should shame black people in being done with others. It's our human right and no, they shouldn't feel the need to always go against our boundaries and ask us for shit. Don't ask us for nothing! Not sorry! 💅🏾
Soooooo, we're going to act like divesting in companies with highly problematic practices (and agendas) is not a proven tool to affect change? South Africa, anyone?
That is at a government level. The apartheid government was affected by trade sanctions. There is a reason why the Boycott and Divest movement is not affecting Israel. When you look at every country that the U.S. has sanctioned, you can literally see the impact on those countries.

Angel, our dollars do make a difference. The bus boycott back in the day made a difference, so please don't spread that misinformation. The problem today is that there is no way we would come together and agree in the 2020s, so that is why it wouldn't work.
Thank you. I was trying to say this during the live (I'm in the Patreon). I also mentioned Apartheid South Africa and how boycotts led to that. The problem is that people want immediate results and a social movement does not happen fast, especially when money is involved. You have to be in this for the long run.

My cousin blocked her brother because he didn't vote at all BUT would have voted for DT. I had one at 15 & NEVER did that again. I was a teenager & a mom & single…that’s THREE many things going on 😂😂😂
Facts, so glad my daughter is 17. You couldn’t pay me to have another baby.
Same here!!
“ Matter of fact I got frustration and disdain”
Kev you crazy 😂😂😂😂
@ 6:20 That was a WORD!!!! Angel , that’ll preach! Like the southern folks say ❤✊🏾
Im so happy kev said that stuff about American capitalism because it's so true. They come after people for saying these things but it must be said. Kev seemed DONE and said what needed to be said, and that's a King move 👑
Yes, Angel! They need to make their fellow YTs uncomfortable! 😂
S/O to my city Winston-Salem, NC. Home of the Safe Bus Company, first black owned transit company in America. Big up to Kev for knowing the knowledge! 💯
Still mourning 🥺 yet also finding more joy everyday. ✨ Happy HTT Wednesday y'all. 🤗🙏🏾🎬👼🏾📸🕺🏻🇲🇽
Your emojis are accurate AND sending me😂
I don't know why you brought up Android when we didn't say anything. In the words of the man behind you. "Keep Android out yo mouth"! The hate is uncalled for. Sending this message from my unproblematic Galaxy.
FINALLY!!! I was sitting here waiting for the episode to drop!
At 27:00, you remind me of The Hunger Games when Finnick says to Katniss, “Remember who the real enemy is.”
amen 🔥
Kevin PLEASE put your sweater story on your standup😂🤣😂😂🤣🤣😂🤣🤣🤣
You're right Angel, they need to talk to their people
Keep your camera on Josh! You’re at work 😂❤
I was on the (patreon) live yesterday, and I have to admit that the conversation about Black people being hesitant to support certain causes anymore could have been better articulated.
Taking Christmas presents back is crazy Angel.
Angel told the babysitter she was tired after she walked she been a auntie her whole life 😂😂
10:45 Thank you! Alot of people just voted for their interest!
Lmaoo at Kevin pulling his shirt off 😭 This was a great episode, grateful for you guys and to be supporting y’all’s work.
Not sorry! 💅🏾
EXACTLY! I don’t care about nobody, just like nobody cares about us.🤷🏾♀️
💯💯Everybody always looking to us to fight not only for ourselves but them, while all along they don't give two shits about us.
Blue bracelets is as helpful as changing the name of master bathroom or changing your profile picture to a black square on social media.
“You’re Eight!!”
“I Got A BMW”
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
This is a great show today!!! I love hearing Kev talk like this 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾…don’t get shot!
"Sweater and an attitude" 😂😂😂
My favorite part of the intro now is .. “assembleee” 😂 Love the content guys! I’ve been listening/watching your podcast for years now and you guys always give me a good laugh. Thank you! Please know that you are loved and appreciated
Jeff Bezos was one of the first to publicly acknowledge and congratulate the incoming administration
I WISH HHHH I COULD QUIT AMAZON🤬. I Unsubscribed NYP, WSJ, Multiple alert media sites, and I wish I could unsun ANY ARTICLE WITH THE WORD TRUMP AND ELON IN IT!!
Forget WW. 20% of OUR "OWN" BM VOTED FOR THE 🟠 POS🤬
Bezos been a rich dweeby douche for a long time. I HONESTLY don't see how ANY WW respect their husbands KNOWING THEY ALL have knee pads for Trump 🤷🏽♀️!?
Really? I LOVE Amazon but now they got to go
Kev was talking that talk today good convo 🫡
Angel is MLK's daughter forreal because she's got a revolutionary spirit.
Excellent segment! Thoroughly enjoyed everything!
We don't need blue bracelets.
@MsJoyce31202 but you can make them think it's important and sell it to them 🤫
Yes we do
Thank you for the single parent shout out!! I be running my face off. Vacation is used for travel time , athletic events, band & choir concerts, award ceremonies and Dr's appointments.
It's a strong NO to the blue bracelets for me!!! The lies, deceit, hyprocrisy, two-faceness is enough! Thanks for saying what you said Angel!
Great convo. Thanks y’all
Damn, Kev's sweater story made so sad!!!
GET 👏🏾 SOMEBODY 👏🏾 ELSE 👏🏾 TO 👏🏾 DO 👏🏾 IT👏🏾
I talked to all the black people at my job about how they felt about the election, and they all gave the same attitude of like “well it is what it is” 😂😂.
Samsung is where it's at.
Samsung laptop and Samsung phone.
🙌🏾
I was just talking to someone explaining that the Poor People’s movement is what got him (King Jr) snuffed
I knew it was something I wanted to say about the blue bracelets and “I need them not to feel safe around you” was it ! Thank you !!
6:12 they acting like we need to prepare for the Underground Railroad or something!
My Z flip 6 connects to my Lenovo Slim 5 🙆🏿♀️🙆🏿♀️ Windows has an app called Phone Link.
You better stand up, and let'em know about us! 😂
I have an iPhone and I use that phone link I love it lol
Girl im normally with you. But the only things these people pay attention to is money. Our dollars speak loader then out words
My cousin blocked her brother because he didn't vote at all BUT would have voted for DT. She told him that he didn't do anything to protect her and her rights, and therefore does not feel safe around him and can't believe him when he says he loves her. It's sad, and unfortunately, there's a few men close to us who have the same sentiment.
Yeah, that's just dramatic nonsense. What does she think her brother is going to SA her or something? Exactly how is being around her brother dangerous? Unless he actually is a massive creep that is.
As a single parent, we create a support system. Personally I make sure my kids have friends in their activities so we can arrange car pools. But I have had to put my career goals on hold for them. Gladly but it is still a sacrifice. It’s just a way of life at this point and we just do it lol.
Yooo he said eat food sad… 😂😂😂 that’s the only way 😂😂😂
I think the only thing that made me happy since the election is the conservatives finding out that people can choose not to be around you.
“Plate of a dozen cookies in the center of a round table. Three men seated around the table; a rich white man, a poor white man, and a Black man. Rich white reaches over take all but one cookie and gets up to leave. But before he walks out and leans into the poor white man and says ‘careful, that Black man is going to steal your cookie.’”
Bring on the foolery of the blue bracelets and the election🤦🏾♀️ 😂😂
Kev takes his shirt off on the pod so much that he can do it in one motion mid-conversation now 😂
Jeff Besos owns the Washington Post and he did not allow them paper to endorse Kamala Harris. That's what he was saying.
Took him a while to overtly interfere with WaPo operations. This is why the alarm should have sounded louder when he acquired it.
Kev on stage needs to research on why people were saying they won’t support Palestine coz Palestinians were urging people not to vote for Kamala so we are simply saying good luck with the other guy who of course doesn’t care for Palestine…
And not only that, Middle Eastern people are usually extremely anti black. 🤷🏾♀️
It was a small group of people, specifically 1 woman that people keep bringing up, that I've noticed. From their point of view, they see the current president not doing anything either.
What Angel said! I need you loud, bold and not subtle.
You can't be loud everywhere at all times.
I really want to meet this kid in Africa fr as many times as I heard about them lol 😂
the way I just screamed out at my desk at work! TURTLES KEV?????? 😂😂
All bars... thank you Angel 🎉❤❤
Here’s the thing crew: all of you have beautiful and in Angel’s case handsome mates. Just saw Melissa and Imara on tasting with Tank … beautiful people working together doing great things together…KEEP SHINING and keep GROWING
A reminder for the holidays and beyond. Watch who's around after the company functions to 👀.
"Inviting people to the cook out that wouldn't invite you to the country club." 💯
Where are the black owned businesses with products I want to consume, like car dealerships, car mechanics, car repairs, house repairs, plumbers, etc. Black owners tend to be content creators that sell entertainment. It's easier to locate black owned hair, makeup, self care products.
As a single mother of 14 years, it is difficult! I have a hard time processing emotions because I have to be in go mode a lot of the time. Can't break down, can't take a moment. I just have to get to it.
That can't break down is a mofo. 16 years in, is one of the biggest things.
"There's no way to boycott your own country"
As a parent of a child who takes everything literally. I lost it when Angel said a little white man was living in her heart! 😂
Yup being a single mom is rough. We appreciate yall. They say it is rewarding when they are adults . I’m so ready for that part cos it seems almost impossible while in it.
Cant wait to listen to this after reading the comments lol
Black Wall Street... Crazy...wyppl sed we would rather destroy this entire town then simply watch you all do well. You all doing well makes us SO ANGRY, AS A GROUP, we CANNOT TAKE IT!! DISGUSTING!! AND SO MANY YEARS LATER AS IN RECENTLY, OUR CURRENT GOVERNMENT, REFUSED TO MAKE IT RIGHT.
I don't work on Wednesday until HTT drops! Thank you 🤗
Angel I Was Taking that drive from Chicago just to see you in person 😢 but I do understand you had to make a choice
