Doc Block's TROPICAL BACKYARD Paradise Tour - Ep. 301
Вставка
- Опубліковано 25 чер 2024
- If you're into Aroids, then you may have heard Doc Block's name here and there-since there are some of his hybrids on the market (e.g., Anthurium 'Michelle') and even some plants named after him (though by the courtesy of other folks). However, he has quite a penchant for a range plants, and has turned his Florida residence into a backyard paradise of palms, ferns, cycads, aroids, and more.
We paid a visit to his home after the cold snap in Florida and took a tour through the land. (This is part 1 of a two-part series).

Another great tour, love how Dr Bloc explained controlling landscaping based on specific spaces. Mr Greg Hambali is still very much alive though he’s not rolling in his grave just yet 😀. Looking forward to more tours like this!
She must go to Indonesia and have a tour with Mr Greg Hambali or having video colabs with you. Must be very interesting 👍🏼
This guy hire people not hands on.
What an honor to tour such a delightful mature garden 🪴💙
This was an “exquisite” video. I would rather watch this over a movie. I could hear him talk all day
Beautiful
Doc. Block just loves his Garden and speaks so passionately.
What a privilege for you to be able to tour his gardens .
He should host children's botanical hours .
I would do anything to spend a day in his Gardens with him .
Honestly, I would just pitch up a hammock and move in and never leave .
What a wonderful 75 year old sago plan & 35 year old ponytail palm what a delight
What a feast for the eyes! His collection of cycads, orchids, and bamboo are stunning! I love his energy too. Truly you can see how much he cares for each of his plant. Very inspiring-thank you, Summer for this wonderful presentation of his garden!
I could listen to Dr. Jeff all day
I would really like to hear more of what he has to say since his insight and experience seem more valuable.
What an amazing garden. No, it’s a paradise! This is one very happy man!
I LOVE LISTENING TO HIM!!!! GOOD MORNING ❤ reminds me of my dad who is also a doctor. My dad Always loved plants. But when I started my own plant binge during the pandemic, he got to be more of a lover and collector than me 😂 it's always a bonding thing. He talks Bout his plants just like this man
This garden is exquisite... One of the best... Doc Block seems like a gentleman and so knowledgeable... This was a great view...
I can really feel Summer's excitement while touring this garden 😍 Rightfully so! This was so beautiful to see.
i noticed it too, seemed to be extremely good mood. which I can understand that place is awesome
I really love when you make videos like this. You are so good at doing interviews. It would also be fun if you could visit private collection at peoples homes like you did before 🥰
This garden is right up my street! 🌴🌴
We're blessed to live in a wonderful part of the United States!
What a spectacular and amazing garden!! Many thanks to Doctor Block for sharing it with your viewers! So inspiring!!
As a fellow "planty" physician, with a fellowship in Integrative Medicine, Dr. Block's garden is a personal goal. I'm likely too old myself to achieve the garden he has, but I'm sure going to try. Thanks for sharing your space, Doc, and thanks for doing such a wonderful video tour, Summer!
Physicians are trained "observers" looking for integrated signs of health vs. sickness. I'd bet that you're probably an excellent "custodian" of living things!
Ohhh my heart blows with so much beauty!!!
Thank you for showing it to us💜 and to Dr Block to allow us to watch this piece of paradise he grown so wisely and carefully. 💜💜💜
You're welcome... I'm hooked on sharing tropical botany!
This is such a great garden tour. I wish there was more talk about soil amendment, fertilizer, and general care of the plants.
Ah, great episode... Florida is shangri-la for plant lovers. Such a magical place. Thanks for inviting us along
big thanks to dr. block for allowing us to tour. loved seeing all the stuff i use to grow when i lived in south florida. the medinilla on the rock wall was awesome, we use to grow them right in the tops of big platyceriums. speaking of platyceriums the coronarium is outstanding! we use to grow dendrobium, oncidium and phalaenopsis orchids in a similar fashion covering the trunks of trees and they really are spectacular when they bloom. thanks summer for another great tour.
Actually that is how most orchids grow. It’s allied mounted and some people even mount it on trees
Thanks Michael! Plants such as that Medinilla that have naturalized to the environment as epiphytes need minimal care; and are some of my most satisfying specimens.
😂❤😊
I appreciate that he keeps the lawn just as nice as the landscape. I actually liked hearing the lawn mowers in the background
We need more of these kind of tours, Summer!
Exquisite! Love these tours. Chad's tour at Fairchild is my favorite relaxation video to date. Looking forward to more content featuring him.
Yup. I watched it like 100s times. So relaxing. I let it play sometime on computer while doing chores or work too.
Love these tours of other peoples gardens and house collections ❤🌞❤️
I love this! When I lived in Miami, I had the most beautiful, thriving outdoor plants on my patio. My husband and I even managed to grow a mangrove from a propagule we found floating in the ocean. I miss that!
Can't you just feel the amazing light and energy coming from these plants, pure joy!! thank you for showing this .
This was wonderful and what a lovely gentleman he is. Thank you all for sharing this marvellous place on earth.
Your content is so pure and entirely unrivaled, thank you!
Waow Extraordinary
I am a professional horticulturist and landscape designer. I find this a truely magnificent garden one of the very best I have seen. Most of those plants can be found growing in Gardens here in Durban but no garden l know of can compare with it ❤❤❤.
Oh !!! what a beauty!!! I live in Miami and I have a small backyard and this video has been so inspirational!!!!Thank you Summer for your mission and vision! That's why I support your channel!!!
Here in Miami, we're blessed to live in the rare Continental United States Zone 10!
@@nurturingnatureatblockbota2885Well , you are an e expert!! It’s a blessing this gardening 👩🌾 zone but for me it is also a work in progress and a learning experience! I don’t like when I make mistakes and my plants 🪴 suffer! 👋🏻
Absolutely stunning! Thank you Ms. Summer and Dr. Block!❄️💚🙃
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if Ms. Summer could revisit the garden when it’s in full bloom ! ❄️💚🙃
Any time you visit a garden you can say "wouldn't it be wonderful to visit it when......" 🙂 I don't think it would be any more spectacular than it is this time round. Absolutely stunning.
It would be wonderful to have another visit 6 months from now when different things are in bloom, but during our rainy season it can be oppressively humid outside! Even if its not raining, the camera lenses (and my eye-glasses) have problems with fogging!
I love Doc Block, such a cool and interesting gentleman and wow Chad Husby turns up too! Love the old trees and all the epiphytes on them; amazing! Such an awesome collection, seeing all those houseplants outside growing like in nature. And cute cats! 💚
Thanks for your kind words Jon. Chad is a wonderful botanical colleague. We have lots of talent here in South Florida.

This was so special - Thank you Summer, what a botanical treasure trove, an exquisite garden of inspiration for all Plant lovers and collectors :)
A lovely relaxing calming video. I really enjoyed it. I think summer has met someone that smiles more than her.
Thats sweet of you to notice... we had a lovely few days filming together!
my Florida native plants that i grew up with so of course they're the best ever... i loved loved loved this ....
Summer!!!! it's so good to see you. I missed these tours so so much!
This was a phenomenal tour. Dr. Block is so verse in his garden. I was so impressed with his knowledge and how he was able to explain things so well. I will be watching this one several times because it was that good!
Thanks... Thats very kind of you to say!
@@nurturingnatureatblockbota2885 did it annoy you that summer interrupts so much?
Thank you so much Dr Block for letting us in your amazing garden
Thanks for those kind words form Clearwater... You're most welcome!
Those crotons and that ponytail palm…chefs kiss.
An almost psychedelic expression of plant life on Earth. Proof that ‘anything is possible’ in our incredible universe.
wow, doc block is a sharp dresser too! love it, thanks doc :) (talking plants, of course!)
I could listen to him talk about plants for much longer. What a nice guy. And what a beautiful garden :)
How beautiful and peaceful this garden is,thank you.

Thanks for your kind words... You're most welcome aquaman!
You will want to enjoy this film over and over for its moving art qualities, and also because Dr. Bloc is such a pleasant gentleman to listen to.
Thanks Roberto... that very kind of you to say!
Omg that is the true definition of paradise ,periodt.
I'm glad you resumed these world tours to botanical gardens. These are the most beautiful videos you make. And I expect that you will continue to do more of this kind. Thanks! 😁
Thank you for a great tour! The first 30 years of my life I lived in South Florida and I'm embarrassed to say that I didn't know many of these plants existed. Sure wish I would have taken more of an interest back in the day. Can't wait to see the second part of the tour.
One of the best video you have shared, thank you, it was enjoyable watching and learning the tropical plants that can be grown outdoor.
I smiled the whole time watching this. ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!! Can’t wait to see the next part. I enjoyed this so much!🪴💚
That pony tail palm is amazing
Thank you for bringing us along on the tour. Main learning point for me - right plant for the right place.
Thanks Kiat! This is why I emphasized that Master Gardener mantra "The right plant in the right place." Glad it was your take-home message! If you're the same Kiat Tan I met ten years ago in Miami (and have a sister living here), then you've known about this wisdom from the masterful Singapore Gardens project.
THANK YOU DOCTOR BLOCK FOR SHARING YOUR TROPICAL BACKYARD, PARADISE, INDEED IT'S PARADISE, I'M SO GRATEFUL......THANK YOU AGAIN
What a day. Just saw TechPlant's video of Silver Chrome nursery tour and then this video with Summer and Dr Jeff Block.
Yes this was incredible, Techplant is so great also
Thanks... glad it was a good view!
Dr. Block your yard is absolutely beautiful. ❤
Paradise! And I know for a fact that paradise is not possible without a cat ❤️
It is nice to see the new additions for lovers of indoor and outdoor gardening. I especially enjoy seeing and learning about gardens all over the world. Thans UA-cam!
