I did this pass twice. Once in a little Golf Polo in 1998 and again in 2019 in a similar hatchback. Beautiful scenery. Thanks for bringing back the memories.
Not only amazing cinematography as usual, but your video really gives such a good insight into what using the car is really like. So much more insightful than some boring car reviews out there!
Thanks so much! I’m no car expert, so a review from me would have been pointless - I guess this was more from the perspective of using the car to do the things that we love and it’s general usability instead of a technical review - there’s plenty of those videos (and really great ones) out there :)
Your vlogs are just so authentic. Enjoy watching these adventures so much. And the fact that there are always a few little side facts about nature or history is great. So much better than all these perfectly staged vlogs all over youtube. Keep vloging. I can't wait for the next one.
Thanks Ana :) Sure, I’ll try incorporate that into some vlogs in the future however most of our local trips are based on a quick google search of areas that we like/know and plan the route from there :) I’ll keep it in mind going forward though!
LOVE this! We are on our first road trip since lockdown in Canada and it has done a world of good for the explorer in me! Loving the outdoors these days ... at least until the snow falls haha
Blair is getting more and more ok being in front and back of the cam. Haha! Good for you, and for us!!! So fun to watch you two. Super chill. I'd love to go on adventures with you both!
I honestly used to really dislike country, and it’s Blair’s favourite genre so in the last couple of years, I have definitely come around to it :) It’s always a good sing-a-long!
Kynsna is an awsome place. We did the houseboats at lightleys. If you get a chance book a boat for 2 nights on the river bank. You won't regret it. Super vlog xx take care and drive safexx
Very nice vlog as usual Nicole. I agree with the comment that mentioned your very nice accent and I have always thought that. You and Blair work really well together and I am pleased for you both but I will make a point of saying well done to him as I can see that there would have been a lot of backwards and forwards to get the shots. I also know you have said that you appreciated his patience in getting the filming right (who was responsible for the drone shots?) Looking forward to the next part. Take care and best wishes 😎👍🇬🇧Tim
Thanks Tim - it definitely took a lot of patience from Blair’s side, and it would have been impossible without him so he was a great help! I think he thought that he was off on a relaxing road trip, but little did he know 😂 Appreciate the kind words & we’ll see you for Vlog 2 next Monday!
I am rather quickly running out of synonyms to describe your videos. The breathtaking vistas, unequalled story telling, the balance between 'real life' discussions that you and Blair allow us to see, and the wildness of SA. It is all executed to broadcast standards yet keeps the 'vlogers' naivety about it. Few notifications make me smile, and even fewer I set time aside for to watch in perfect peace. On that note I only support two other people ( IJesup & WIntergarten) of my 173 subscriptions on Patreon.. Do you have plans to go down this route? If so I would like to donate a small amount each month.
Hi Jamie :) What a beautiful comment to read - thank you for the lovely words and this certainly makes me so excited to continue sharing our adventures and journeys with you! I must definitely check out the two other YT channels that you mentioned as well. With regards to Patreon, at the moment I don’t have any plans to go down that route but it might be something that I would like to do in the future! Thanks again 😊🙏🏼
Very well done Nicole :). My question to JLR would be: Who exactly is the target market for the new Defender...because they seem to be positioning it (by virtue of the influencers they have used to get the product out there) to a "younger" market. The trouble is though, it's priced for the 45-55 year old who is in a senior managerial position... The "regular" 29-40 year old would struggle to afford this car even with a 144 month term finance agreement :(
Yeah, you raise an interesting point - I would be quite interested in what their exact target market is - as you mention, the price tag attached is definitely aimed at an older demographic, however they have targeted all sorts of marketing channels across all ages/platforms etc., so I’m thinking that it’s just trying to get as many eyes on the vehicle as possible.
In all honesty, I wasn’t too sure about the vehicle before seeing it/driving it, but after the week, I was fully converted. It feels incredibly safe and smooth on the road, it’s luxurious but not overdone, and although we never tested it off-road properly, from what I’ve seen the 4x4 capability is pretty nuts 🥜 In comparison to the Fortuner, Blair’s model is a 2011 but with over 300,000km on the clock, it’s never given hassles. It definitely doesn’t drive as smooth and obviously doesn’t have all of the technology that the new Defender offers, but at the end of the day, we both just want a comfortable ride that’s reliable and safe and both cars offer that...it just depends how much you want to pay 😉
El nuevo Land Rover perdió su esencia, ahora yo no está construido sobre un chasis. Para mi lo mejor en JEEP es el Land Cruiser de Toyota, 100% confiable. El modelo LJ79 es extraordinario, saludos desde Chile.
Hmm, tough choice! I think the last location of our trip (Victoria Bay) I loved thanks to the great surf, but a place called Plettenberg Bay was a close second. It’ll be in the 3rd vlog from this series 😊
Unfortunately the GoPro audio when it’s not close up or has a mic rigged up to it isn’t as clear as my Sony or Canon, so it gets a little muffled & quiet.
Haha, each to their own I guess 🤷🏼♀️ They had a tough job trying to remodel/recreate such an iconic vehicle especially with the Die Hard fan base that the Defender has. Coming from a family who has only owned Defenders, we were all pretty hesitant until we gave it a spin and spent some time in it :)
Came for the defender, stayed for the music and accent. Well done Nicole great vlog!
Thanks so much Cian & I’m so stoked that you stayed :)

Thank you so so much 🙏🏼 I’m so glad that you enjoyed this! The second Behind The Scenes video is dropping this evening, so I hope you enjoy it too!
Love your Defender - I got one the same colour, but with a white roof and the khaki interior. Fantastic vehicles
Amazing, I really love the colour :) Hope that you've been on some fun adventures already!
Best channel on here !! It would be super cool if you could give pointers as to how to look for/plan hiking/camping trips like you do!
Thanks Ana :) Sure, I’ll try incorporate that into some vlogs in the future however most of our local trips are based on a quick google search of areas that we like/know and plan the route from there :) I’ll keep it in mind going forward though!
@@NicoleEddy1 THANK U NICOLE!

wonderful vlog. also that shot @ 1:40 was awesome :) much love
Thanks Aaron :)
Superb vlog as usual.
Thanks Barbara! X
First and good to hear some "country" music being played!
Haha true. Something we rarely hear these days.

Nice vlog. Beautiful views!
Thanks Elroy!
@@NicoleEddy1 😁👍
Great trip! Sadly missed this route but Knysna and the Garden Route was awesome!
I had never done the Swartberg Pass before but can HIGHLY recommend it for any Western Cape road trip 🙌🏼
@@NicoleEddy1 Next time 👍

01:38 I think I've given my manager that same look
Love the car💥
What's your opinion about the new defender? How is it compared to your fortuner? Curious to know.. love your vlogs btw. 👍🏾👍🏾
In all honesty, I wasn’t too sure about the vehicle before seeing it/driving it, but after the week, I was fully converted. Very nice but would never trade in my old 110 td5 for the new defender
It’s free dude.
I would.
Love you guys from india 🥰
Can't wait to visit India again :)
How did you do on fuel? did you have to bring some along? thats a Diesel right?
First time I’ve seen you guys. Super film in an amazing landscape (dreaming of the car too).
Awesome, well welcome to the channel :) Glad that you enjoyed the video!
Oudtshoorn, "Plek van groot voels en groot eiers" as they would say.

Awesome video! What tyres are on the new Defender?
I stand to be corrected but I think they’re 18 inch, 25.5 cm wide :)
You should never ever put your thumbs inside the wheel in off-road course (gravel road as well) sudden pothole or rock and could be broken very easy!
Cliffs are Scary :-O
They sure are!
Be careful out there!
*Nicole Eddy* Which location you liked the most ? ♥️

Awesome channel! Keep up the good work. I bet you'll like my uploads also 😁 ✌️
Is that a 110 or a 90?
It’s a 110
Still can't see why Land Rover went this route vs retrofitting the old body like Mercedes did with the G Class.
What was wrong with your sound on live portions from your car , it was very quiet x
Unfortunately the GoPro audio when it’s not close up or has a mic rigged up to it isn’t as clear as my Sony or Canon, so it gets a little muffled & quiet.
That thing is NOT Defender, it's an OFFender.
Haha, each to their own I guess 🤷🏼♀️ They had a tough job trying to remodel/recreate such an iconic vehicle especially with the Die Hard fan base that the Defender has. They should give you the car for real.
Hahah, that would be a real (and unreal) treat 😂
