Pardon me for my English, Systematic Chaos is my favorite album. And This song makes me tear all the time when I drive home from Moorhead all the way down to Minneapolis MN. The music matches perfectly with sightseeing of trees and the sky of the winter in Minnesota. It’s so obsessive, I keep think that the spirit of that girl has no escape, she still stuck in the pinewood, weeping in her eternal sorrow. Her love has become a burden trapped her soul there. Especially the ending solo makes me more paranoid. So sad, so hopeless and obsessive - music of Dream Theater!
This one along with Finally Free, Honor thy Father, Stream of Conciousness, The Count of Tuscany and of course Octavarium are the ones I love the most, but come on, its DT, whatever they gave us is awesome no matter what.
I just really dont undersatnd how anyone can critize a DT album so much! The astonishing is just a piece of work, for me its not an album, is 1 song, and is beutifull the way they decide to tell a story and dialogues and everything and deserves to be on the top with albums like Octavarium, or train of tought or images and words, along with every DT abum
Been a fan since 1989, i'm 52 now...still fucking love them. Saw them Glasgow 1993, wonderful memories. So pleased to see them get the recognition they deserve. Thanks for your posts.
Saturday 9:05 PM, March 19th 2022. Love from Nagaland India. This is a perfect therapy when you're exhausted and stressed mentally. ❤️ Can't stop listening while sleeping, eating working...
And as usual, Dream Theater goes off on some weird tangent in the middle of their lengthy song preventing them from being mainstream, lol. But we love them anyway. Keep doing you, even if it doesn't make sense to most consumers :)
Most consumers are normies that can't comprehend the epicness of DT. And i don't think their instrumentals are "weird", they're an amazing part of what makes Dream Theater perfect!
10/10 DT is still on a whole other level. Got to see them live about 6 times. Might as well make it 7. Seen a lot of bands live. DT still the best sounding live. Check out the YTSE jam if you doubt me.
water's edge is where she waits Lost soul still wandering Meant to die, but she's stuck not crossing over The other side is where he waits His spirit reaching out Meant to save, but she's too scared to take his hand Living in a world without you (drowning in the past) Is living in no world at all So now I call on you Remember me: I gave you life You would not take it Your suffering was all in vain It's almost over now Don't turn your back on Paradise Feeling scared, she's prepared To give up everything She can't stand to feel like half of her is fading He will choose the only way To rid her of her pain Take her soul now; the decision has been made Living in a world without love (burning into my soul) Is living in a worthless world So I will call on you
I always skip over this. At least when it came out. Maybe because it's so sad. I have to give it another chance here in March 2020. I CANNOT listen to 'Disappear' from 6DOIT, because it reminds me of my dad that i lost around the time that came out.
The people that criticise Dream Theater for stretching their boundaries musically are the same ones that embraced their ability to stretch the boundaries of prog in the first place. IMO that is hypocritical. Being a musician myself, I understand their internal need to grow and present different concepts. Their ability to last this long is based on that ability. If you need a band where every song sounds the same then do the POP thing. If you want to expand your ability to appreciate musical growth then stay with a band through its metamorphosis.
There is so much dross out there and yet here we are, DT fans arguing amongst themselves over their preferences within the extraordinary DT discography. Let’s stick together guys 🤟
A woman was going to die but a man saved her and died in her place. She then wants to take her life by drowning in a river, cause she can't stand the fact that she lost him. His spirit reached to her from heaven because he's meant to take her soul, but he tries to convince her to not do it, because if she takes her own life she won't go to heaven with him.
To me it's about Jesus Christ and whether we choose to accept Him or not. "Remember me, I gave you life." If you take the interpretation of a random man saving a woman this doesn't really make sense because he didn't give her life. "Don't turn your back on paradise" - paradise is Heaven.

A place beside you This time when I reach out my hand It reached all the way to heaven Remember me: I gave you life You would not take it Your suffering was all in vain It's almost over now Goodbye It's almost over now Goodbye It's time I release you from this life Don't turn your back on Paradise

Indeed
JP's guitar outro takes me into orbit. Sheer brilliance.
My God, this is not a song... This is a masterpiece. Powerful, sweet and so melancholy at the same time...
I can't believe how Dream Theater fans criticised this album so much. It's better than all their recent work that came after this.
Aman Hassan I really don't get the hate this album gets, I mean...how does one hate an album that has "in the presence of enemies" on it?
TheBushwooky I fail to understand that myself. This album is so underrated. It had so many great moments.
This one along with Finally Free, Honor thy Father, Stream of Conciousness, The Count of Tuscany and of course Octavarium are the ones I love the most, but come on, its DT, whatever they gave us is awesome no matter what.
Eccentrics i love this album man

@@16krys16 To me their instrumental parts are like quantum physics...nothing like weird. 👍 Just like the lyrics to Room 137.
sometimes (very few times) I hate that too, like in Endless Sacrifice. But in Systematic Chaos I find them all on point, it's my fav album after all
Beautiful song.
To me this song is about Jesus Christ and whether we choose to accept Him or not. "She" is humanity and "he" is Jesus. "Remember me, I gave you life."
Great song
What a song
Isso É Um Patrimônio Que Vai Marcar Gerações,
This is what uplift as high as too difficult to reach even for me 😢❤🙏🏻

This is possibly the saddest song I've ever heard
This song will be played at my funeral
Simply beautiful
water's edge is where she waits
Lost soul still wandering
Meant to die, but she's stuck not crossing over
The other side is where he waits
His spirit reaching out
Meant to save, but she's too scared to take his hand
Living in a world without you (drowning in the past)
Is living in no world at all
So now I call on you
Remember me: I gave you life
You would not take it
Your suffering was all in vain
It's almost over now
Don't turn your back on Paradise
Feeling scared, she's prepared
To give up everything
She can't stand to feel like half of her is fading
He will choose the only way
To rid her of her pain
Take her soul now; the decision has been made
Living in a world without love (burning into my soul)
Is living in a worthless world
So I will call on you
Myung's bass feels like a slap to the face.
Will not forget You. A.

Yea man, i skip them too. Stay strong.
But sometimes, you gotta embrace those feelings to finally let them go, for good.
Top music

The remembrance of the song is the dissolution of Blue Sky Studios. In 2021, Blue Sky Studios had been shut down by Disney. Sad story...

12:10 😦 soo sad and beautiful.
Meaning of the song?
It’s about death, but more specifically I think it’s about someone dying and then the other person joining them in the end.

12:42
Tang Ina sh*t... Lupit
Meant to die...
Only One Goddamned Soul dislike
The water's edge is where she waits
Lost soul still wandering
Meant to die, but she's stuck not crossing over
The other side is where he waits
His spirit reaching out
Meant to save, but she's too scared to take his hand
Living in a world without you (drowning in the past)
Is living in no world at all
So now I call on you
Remember me: I gave you life
You would not take it
Your suffering was all in vain
It's almost over now
Don't turn your back on Paradise
Feeling scared, she's prepared
To give up everything
She can't stand to feel like half of her is fading
He will choose the only way
To rid her of her pain
Take her soul now; the decision has been made
Living in a world without love (burning into my soul)
Is living in a worthless world
So I will call on you
Remember me: I gave you life
You would not take it
Your suffering was all in vain
It's almost over
Remember me; you were so young
How could I tell you?
Remember me: I am the one
Who saved your life that night
I was the one who would not
Abandon you
Even in death I was the one who would not leave you
I used my freedom to protect you
And all the while direct you
Do you remember me this time?
Even in death I gave you life
I gave you life
I wanted to deserve a place...
A place beside you
This time when I reach out my hand
It reached all the way to heaven
Remember me: I gave you life
You would not take it
Your suffering was all in vain
It's almost over now
Goodbye
It's almost over now
Goodbye
It's time I release you from this life
Don't turn your back on Paradise
The water's edge is where she waits
Lost soul still wandering
Meant to die
But she's stuck, not crossing over
The other side is where he waits
His spirit reaching out
Meant to save
But she's too scared to take his hand
Living in a world without you
(Drowning in the past)
Is living in no world at all
So now I call on you
Remember me, I gave you life
You would not take it
Your suffering was all in vain
It's almost over now
Don't turn your back on paradise
Feeling scared, she's prepared
To give up everything
She can't stand
To feel like half of her is fading
He will choose the only way
To rid her of her pain
Take her soul now
The decision has been made
Living in a world without love
(A burden to my soul)
Is living in a worthless world
So I will call on you
Remember me, I gave you life
You would not take it
Your suffering was all in vain
It's almost over
Remember me, you were so young
How could I tell you?
Remember me, I am the one
Who saved your life that night
I was the one who would not abandon you
Even in death I was the one who would not leave you
I used my freedom to protect you
And all the while direct you
Do you remember me this time?
Even in death I gave you life
I gave you life
I wanted to deserve a place
A place beside you
This time when I reached out my hand
It reached all the way to heaven
Remember me, I gave you life
You would not take it
Your suffering was all in vain
It's almost over now
Goodbye, it's almost over now
Goodbye, it's time
I release you from this life
Don't turn your back paradise
