Right off the bat I have to say that this system is available on Pit Barrel Cookers Website!(Link in the description)
In this video I show you how to use the 18" Weber Smokey Mountain and hang some chicken halves. I had a product sent to me called the 18" WSM Hanging System By Pit Barrel Cooker to try out and I have to say that I am not disappointed! Not only does this product work as advertised I really like the fact that the hanger is taller so you're able to keep the meat further away from the heat! So in this video I go over every part of this cook! From assembly and installation of the system, starting the grill, and prepping and cooking the chicken. If any of you have an 18" Weber Smokey Mountain and have wanted to hang meat I highly suggest you give this hanging system a shot, I will leave the link in the description. And for those of you who have never hung meat before and don't have a WSM I would give Pit Barrel Cooker a look because when it comes to a set it and forget it type of charcoal grill, you do not get any better! If you have any questions leave a comment below and as always I appreciate you watching!

I’m going to cook something on this little grill for the very first time, and these videos give me all the confidence and inspiration that I will need ✌🏾😋
The WSM is like a reasonably responsible teenager. You get it started on the task and it will complete the job with minimal supervision.
Hahaha nailed it
But sometimes needs a kick in the butt.
Thanks for showing this. I just ordered one.
I got mine a few months back, and WOW! Chicken 💯, Ribs...never cooking flat again! 🤤 Thanks for the vid 💪
Awesome, happy to hear it!! And you bet!
Just ordered mine. Thank you for letting us know! Went right through your description!
Hey thanks James I appreciate that!
Good, Man ! Cheers from Austria !
Thank ya! 🍻
I have the Hunsacker hanging rack. A lot like yours. I hang chicken and ribs all the time with that thing and I’m never disappointed. Love the way your chicken turned out nice and tender!
Thanks for sharing! Cheers from Dave! 😎🤘
Cool setup, those birds look awesome, Tailgater Party Rub is good stuff.
Gateway's Drum rib hanger is just one piece and fits the 18" WSM perfectly.
That is true. I have the gateway one for my 55g gateway.
Gotta get one of those. Just found your channel. Keep up the good work. 👍
Awesome! The link for it is in the description. Thanks!
Awesome new product from PBC! Nice demo and Awesome lookin Bird!
Thanks Chief! I agree!
Hello, where did you get that thermometer holder? That thing is real cool
Thanks
Thanks for a great video! Got my Weber Smokey Mountain 18 in a few months ago. Can't believe the incredible meals I have turned out on this smoking machine. I guess there's no water pan involved in this method when hanging? Thanks again keep up the great work.
That’s awesome Walt! The WSM if for sure an awesome cooker! And you are correct. When I’m hanging meat in the 18” WSM using the hanger system by Pit Barrel Cooker I do not use the water pan.
those chickens looked great nice video ........love your blue line flag!
Thanks Cristopher I appreciate that! 👮♀️💙
Thanks for the video. Glad to see more goodies for the wsm. Will you be doing comparison videos of the wsm and other barrel cookers?
Thanks Jason it’s a pretty cool accessory. And I sure can do more comparison videos.
Yooo, you just earned yourself a subscription with this video! Thanks man! I just picked up an 18in grill and your videos are a great help. I have a question though... Why didn't you use the water bowl?
Thanks man! And I find that the water bowl isn’t needed for the most part. Just really personal preference but if I’m cooking on the WSM or a drum I like the flavor of the meat dripping directly on the coals.
Is there a benefit to halv'ing the chicken opposed to leave it whole? Thanks!
I know this an old video but do you think i can pull off 4 chickens on this setup?
When do they plan on releasing this product!?!?..... I'm definitely getting one for my 18in WSM.
They already did and the link for the kit is in the description!
Awesome chicken Brian! Man that breast meat was really juicy. Something about cooking chicken directly over charcoal with that juicy dripping down. I gotta get some of that rub! Great cook brother! Cheers!
Thanks Jay! And ya man get some party for sure!
This looks really good. The only thing I think that you left out is this product looks like it will conveniently fit into the dishwasher. The Hunsaker product does not look like it will.
Thanks Jon! And I didn’t even think about that lol. Although I’ll never was mine lol.
I pulled up the Pit Barrel cooker website but couldn't find the Hanging System for the 18.5" WSM. Ay help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!
I have the link in the description as well but here ya go.

Do you like this hanger kit better than Hunsucker and Lavalock?
Also, what did you add to you me WSM door to minimize smoke escape?
This is the only hanger kit I have for the 18”. I do have the hanger kit for my drums from gateway and UDS parts and I like those for my 22” cookers.
And I added a fiberglass fireplace gasket if I remember right.
Does the center piece come with it or is that extra .
It comes with it.
Really enjoyed this video. Couple of questions: What did you use to hinge the lid to the main chamber? I have a WSM 18 inch and think you whole setup is great. How did you secure the caters and what size are they. Thanks for your help.
I got the hinge from unknown bbq. I’m pretty sure you can buy it on Amazon as well. And I bought the casters from Home Depot years ago and I don’t remember.
Man. That is one complex contraption. The only benefit compared to the Hunsaker smokers seems the fact you can break it down. I have one for my 14 WSM. It’s just two pieces, and I store it inside my WSM. The centering bar and the whole ring assembly. Nice to see more WSM accessories out there though.
Ya WSM accessories are kinda scarce. Weber did have a rib hanger back in the day for the wsms but they discontinued it l. Thanks for watching Krash!
I don’t know but looks to me this one has more height than the Hunsaker which can be useful for longer rib racks but might be perspective .
@@crBudgetWatches You're absolutely correct! I have both units the the Hunsaker is shorter by about 4 inches. I'll be using the Pit Barrel hanger.
Do a fried turkey video!!!!!!!!!!!!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Fried Turkey?
@@MadHorseBBQ ya have you cooked one b4???? Super delicious!!!!!!!
If you’re talking like a deep fried one I have not.
@@MadHorseBBQ turkey videos are hott right now
Don’t want to be a downer since this looks like a great product, but Hunsaker already makes this product for the WSM, it does the same thing, and it’s at least as simple to assemble and use. This seems like a “hey someone’s making money on mods for the WSM and we need to catch up”. Most people also recommend getting the Pit Barrel hooks. I’ve been hanging ribs and chicken with the Hunsaker for a year, and had the same results.
Ya I just looked that up and saw the hunsaker hanger. Like I said in the video the hooks no matter the brand all so the same thing so you’d have to but multiple brands to find out which one you like best.
