@ you need to roast the Mountain is You more.. like you did with the other book where you asked the author “who are you” because this author also seems like that. Brianna Weist.. some blogger turned motivational guru.. and yeah she is the money grab type
I vote you listen to "The Color Purple". I read it a couple of years ago and was surprised by how good it is. I reference it often when discussing books with friends. My expectations were based on the movie (which was fine) but the book had so much more insight into the characters (not surprising since that's how most movie adaptations go). I was particularly moved by the story of her children which was briefly touched upon in the movie.
I loved The Appeal! The Christmas Appeal was also good and worth reading! I haven’t read it yet but you may like The Examiner..dark academia mystery seems quite fun 🙂
Yay! Grady Hendrix. Love it. Quick story, my mom bought her brother a howdy doody doll as a joke gift for christmas, when he passed away he willed it back to her. Not a good story, but i just thought of that when i read grady hendrix. So happy Halloween
The Color Purple was great. I'm sure you've been warned that it has some difficult moments (particularly the first few pages), but it was very good and well worth the read. The book is an epistolary novel and may be better to read as a physical or e-book, but that's just my opinion. Happy reading!
The Appeal is my next book club book. I tried the Twyford code and wasn’t a fan but hopefully will enjoy this one more. Happy Halloween and happy Samhain 🔮✨ I also just read we solve murders, I loved it! Not sure if I liked it as much as the Thursday Murder club tbh but still enjoyed it. Great wrap up. Love the costume and the chaos and of course miss Clawdia ❤😸
oh! you saying all the colors of the dark was a five star got me to keep on with it! i'm (mildly) liking it at about 30% so this is what i needed to hear.
The thing I liked least about The Spellshop was the main character. I completely related to her obsession with protecting books and tendency to go off on mental tangents, but I thought she made some choices that didn’t make sense. I loved the companion plants though! And Clawdia and I agree on that amazing hat! ❤
I found your comment about laziness refreshing. Nice to hear that not everyone is obsessed by making every minute into work and earning. Btw, Simone St James is also one of my favs.😊
Hei, Emily! Long time follower here❤, I see you started enjoying short story collections so I immideately tought of Alice Munro's "Too much happiness" . The stories start out with the characters going on about their day, or getting through a period of their lives while reminscing on what happendled in the past. But the stories always slide down some weid path, in the end. One gets immersed pretty quickly in these, the writer has a way with words that draws you in (no wonder she is a Nobel Prize winner). I highly reccommend it!
I can’t wait to read All The Colors Of The Dark, it sounds right up my alley!! Also gave The Ex Hex 3 stars, it was cute but nothing mind blowing. Loved seeing (and hearing) Clawdia 😂
That is a lot of reading for one month, hard not to get too jaded with story and structure, like and don't like reaction. It will be interesting to listen to one of your deeper reviews. Liked and subscribed
Hi Emily, great hat and Happy hallowe’en!🎃💀 I enjoyed your book list; more titles for my TBR notebook. I read Horrorstor but I had to DNF it halfway through, I just couldn’t get into it. I have two favourite reads for October: ‘They Lurk’ by Ronald Malfi and ‘In the Hour of Crows’ by Dana Elmendorf. Have a great day and good reading!
Happy Halloween 🎃 The Spellshop was a dnf for me! All the colours f the Dark was 4 stars. The Gods of Wyrdwood and the sequel book were both 5⭐️ in October.
I really enjoyed The Pumpkin Spice Cafe and I'm now reading The Cinnamon Bun Bookstore. I mean, they aren't life changing books lol but I don't see how people can hate them lol. There isn't anything toxic or weird or anything like that. Worst thing about it is it's simplicity but it's a very fun time, IMO!
How to sell a haunted house was my third Grady Hendrix, too, but sadly I didn‘t like it. It wasn‘t enough horror for my taste, but I consume a lot of horror content, so my bar is very high 😅 But I‘m happy that you liked it! There‘s nothing better than being positively surprised by a book.
Love the hat! My favorite reads in october was I who have never known men (from your recommendation ofc) and Dead silence by S.A Barnes - both five stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I read The Chalice and the Blade in uni, where my professor chose this as one of our textbooks. I still have it after all these years. It’s a great read. I also recommend Sex in History by Reay Tannahill.
I just finished the haunting of ashburn house by Darcy Coates. And I really enjoyed it. While it wasn’t the most sophisticated read it was really enjoyable haunted house story with cozy vibes. Highly recommend 👻
I just finished Good Girls Guide To Murder and was expecting it to be cheesy and meh but I actually loved it so much! 5 stars and will coninue series 😊
I want to read How To Sell A Haunted House! Oh, puppets: read Gardens of the Moon. But Grady Hendrix… I loved My Best Friend’s Exorcism and Horrorstor and his non-fiction book, Paperbacks From Hell (it’s a blast). I didn’t like The Southern Bookclub’s Guide To Slaying Vampires, but most people seem to love that one. Still, love this author!
I think some of the books you've read that you get YA vibes from would probably be categorized as New Adult, which is kind of the bridge between YA and Adult. My favorite book of October was The Fury of the Gods by John Gwynne. I read it in one sitting!
Best books I read in October are probably books that most people have already read and know - I Am Legend (first time through, oh my god what a fantastic book. the movie is trash compared to the book, and I enjoyed the movie a lot) I also read Salem's Lot and Carrie (I had never read a Stephen King book before I read Carrie, and I loved it, I'm unsure which of the King books Iiked more). I was planning on rereading The Road, since it's been years since I've read it, but I ran out of time. I probably would've had time if I hadn't been sick for nearly a whole week... oh well. lol
I liked „we begin at the end“ and loved „all the colors of the dark“. Then I read „Tall Oaks“ and… meh. I was just not emotionally invested to care about the murder. Plus, I am terrible with names and there were many men whose names started with J: Jerry, Jared, Jim… i confused them all the time🤣
and on the other hand, i loved the devon price book (so i think the conclusion is i can't stand nonfiction that pushes capitalism and i love nonfiction that goes against it hahahahah)!
I think the Spellshop tried to do a little too much. I had no emotions whatsoever. It was just an ok read for me. Wouldn't make it to my favourite cozy fantasy.
You might want to try reading Gabor Mate. He's a Canadian physician who is an expert on addictions, trauma and stress. He looks at how childhood development and trauma affect mental and physical health, including autoimmune diseases, cancer, and other disorders. I like what he says about living in toxic culture and its impact on us. Check out his books. Of course, this might not be what you like to read or you might disagree with his findings/views.
I remember reading The Color Purple in high school. I didn't know much about American or African American culture or history back then, so a lot of stuff probably went over my head (I should reread it), but I distinctly remember enjoying it despite that. Enjoying a book when you're being forced to read it for school is a good sign. The only other book that managed that feat for me was Frankenstein.
Happy Halloween! 👻🎃
What’s the best book you’ve read in October?
The road by Cormac McCarthy. I thought I would read Lasher by Anne Rice but changed my mind. I'm such a mood reader.
The Library of Shadows! It’s the only one I enjoyed this month 😭
Nightmares 😊
The Shining - wanted something spooky and it delivered😨
@@michellemaguire841you gotta read doctor sleep now, even spookier 😗🚪
You asked for it… I let Clawdia in so enjoy the chaos 🐈⬛
The kind of chaos I live for 😻
Such a cute tumbnail with her in it😻 she won us also over, she rules
Clawdia rules the house! Lol. I love her!
Thoroughly enjoyed it, thank you.😂
She really delivered with the thumbnail. I didn’t even have to try she was already doing her thing 💅
No truer words have been spoken before
“It is Claudia’s house Emily just lives in it”
And always have her with you while filming 🥹🥹
She’s so distracting 😭
She was jumping on the windowsill and trying to push the tall mirror next to it… I don’t want her to get hurt 😞
@ you need to roast the Mountain is You more.. like you did with the other book where you asked the author “who are you” because this author also seems like that. Brianna Weist.. some blogger turned motivational guru.. and yeah she is the money grab type
I didn't read far enough to have more to say! The other book I finished... and it was my third one by that author so it was easier to be harsh
Now THAT's a hat!! Happy Halloween ! 🎃
OMG, Clawdia!!! She is a riot.
I like your little ghost decorations. 👻
The most wonderful thumbnail ever created ❤️👌🏻
Great costume and a super cute hat!
Happy Halloween 🎃👻
The witch's dress, hat and cat were perfect. 🧙🏼♀️🧹🐈⬛
I vote you listen to "The Color Purple". I read it a couple of years ago and was surprised by how good it is. I reference it often when discussing books with friends. Claudia sparks joy for sure 🐈⬛
Fine I guess she can stay 🙄😂
Love the costume, love the enthusiasm 😊
I loved The Appeal! The Christmas Appeal was also good and worth reading! I haven’t read it yet but you may like The Examiner..dark academia mystery seems quite fun 🙂
Apperton Angels was good.
Loved how Clawdia head bumped the witch hat.🥰
Yes the puppets and one of the gorey scenes were deffinitly creepy.
Yay! Grady Hendrix. Love it. Quick story, my mom bought her brother a howdy doody doll as a joke gift for christmas, when he passed away he willed it back to her. Not a good story, but i just thought of that when i read grady hendrix. So happy Halloween
Absolutely love the hat and the cat as well!
Aw, Clawdia, the one with separation anxiety.
She would very much disagree with this… but I’m not allowed to hide behind a closed door 🧐
Love the hat! haha Happy Halloween!
Happy Halloween! 🧙♀️🎃👻😱
Happy Halloween!! I’m dressed as a witch too so it made me smile to see the thumbnail 😊🎃
I love the hat!🪄🫶🏻
Aww Clawdia😂 happy Halloween 🎃👻🕸️

Thinking about Pear the original Halloween Kitty.
The book I'm currently reading has a cat named Persephone :(

Congrats on not struggling with saying The Ex Hex! I feel so proud 😆
I have good and bad days 😂
I liked We Begin at the End and I’m 100 pages into All the Colors of the Dark. It’s a really good book, I enjoy Chris Whitaker’s prose very much.
oh! you saying all the colors of the dark was a five star got me to keep on with it! i'm (mildly) liking it at about 30% so this is what i needed to hear.
Still reading The Thirteenth Tale, more than halfway through. You and Clawdia looked great, complementary colors!
The thing I liked least about The Spellshop was the main character. I completely related to her obsession with protecting books and tendency to go off on mental tangents, but I thought she made some choices that didn’t make sense. I loved the companion plants though! And Clawdia and I agree on that amazing hat! ❤
Amazing outfit, happy halloween.
I found your comment about laziness refreshing. Nice to hear that not everyone is obsessed by making every minute into work and earning. Btw, Simone St James is also one of my favs.😊
Chronic illness will do that to someone 😂
@BookswithEmilyFox Oh, I didn't know. But in any case, good advice for everyone's well-being
Wow, so many books!! Looks like there’s also a Christmas Appeal.
Also, I read Never Whistle at Night!
Happy Halloween 🎃
We Solve Murders is on my list! Thanks for the list… some I never heard of!
I'm very glad you have the same view on self help books as I do. I think it has to be one of the only genres of book I just do not enjoy reading!
The Appeal sounds fun!!

Everyone seem to be in love with small towns these days. I am from and still live in the same small town I grew up in. It hasn't always been pleasant.
I really enjoyed Laziness Does Not Exist! I think about it still and i read it a couple years ago.
Happy Halloween 🎃
The Spellshop was a dnf for me! All the colours f the Dark was 4 stars. The Gods of Wyrdwood and the sequel book were both 5⭐️ in October.

It would’ve been so funny if Clawdia was dressed as some kind of monster 😂
Clawdia doesn’t let me dress her 😂 Charlie is the only one that cooperates but he was sleeping!
@@BookswithEmilyFoxI figured she’s much too sassy for that nonsense
Imagine her in the princess costume?! She’d be adorable but I’d be dead
Oooh! Is that a new uniform?
I just finished the haunting of ashburn house by Darcy Coates. And I really enjoyed it. While it wasn’t the most sophisticated read it was really enjoyable haunted house story with cozy vibes. Highly recommend 👻
Agree with your thoughts on The Ex Hex. Kind of ridiculous lol
omg the hat is so funny 🤣
I just finished Quicksilver and I really like it.
I know youre tired of people saying you'll hate a book 😂 so Im happy to say I do think you're going to like The Color Purple! 💜
My cat heard clawdia and started searching for a second cat that I dont own 😂
I just finished Good Girls Guide To Murder and was expecting it to be cheesy and meh but I actually loved it so much! 5 stars and will coninue series 😊

"She's so cute, but she's a menace" - I dream of having someone describe me this way
Same 😂
8:53 the third ex hex book kind of ate btw. and the first two were very ~2.5 stars to me even if i liked some of the vibes
What’s that in your head mom? 😂
I’m genuinely surprised she didn’t attack it/me 😂
5stars for the color purple
My cats would have knocked all the books off the table. Also they wouldn't let you tape anything. They would want 100% of your attention. Lol😂
I keep the door closed because they absolutely used to push the books off the shelves! Clawdia loves chewing on tape too 😂
I think some of the books you've read that you get YA vibes from would probably be categorized as New Adult, which is kind of the bridge between YA and Adult.

I am so sad you didn't enjoy the Spellshop as much. I loved it. It's a five star for me, I enjoyed it even more than Legends & lattes.
I wish I did! I love trying Cozy Fantasy books but they can be hit and miss for me :/
The Spellshop was just ok for me as well 😅 It really annoyed me how easy it was to fix everything with spells
Just finished the sequel to the Ex-Hex today. It’s better in my opinion. The characters were more adult than the first book.
If you find doors nailed shut scary (like I do) try The Winter People by Jennifer McMahon. Eeeek!!! 😬
I found The Winter People at my local library; thanks for the suggestion.
You need to review The Trial and The Suspect by Rob Rinder that is if you have not yet.
❤🐈
❤️📚🐱🍂
I read HELD by Anne Michaels. 5 stars! Loved it! I read Salem's Lot. Meh. Not one of Stephen King's best.
claudia is sooo cutieee
I liked „we begin at the end“ and loved „all the colors of the dark“. Then I read „Tall Oaks“ and… meh. I was just not emotionally invested to care about the murder. Plus, I am terrible with names and there were many men whose names started with J: Jerry, Jared, Jim… i confused them all the time🤣
LOL I'll stay away!
i read brianna wiest's book of essays because it was all over pinterest and i thought it was the worst thing i have read in ages LOL
and on the other hand, i loved the devon price book (so i think the conclusion is i can't stand nonfiction that pushes capitalism and i love nonfiction that goes against it hahahahah)!
🐈❤
You make a cute witch
Is claudia bilingual? 😂😂
Her attitude transcends languages 😂
I think the Spellshop tried to do a little too much. I had no emotions whatsoever. It was just an ok read for me. Wouldn't make it to my favourite cozy fantasy.
