Wicked was such a strange read for me the first time - I spent most of the book trying to decide if I was actually enjoying it then absolutely sobbed at end 😂
Omg, Shadow Glass!!!! I read that earlier this year and nobody knew what the hell I was talking about. I couldn't put it down and the feels that some of these characters gave me. So much fun; it hit me so hard with the nostalgia.
I agree entirely with your wild robot sentiments. I saw the trailer and needed to watch the movie. I watched the movie and needed to read the book. I finished the book today and while I love the books story, the film just elevates it to all new heights
Always love watching your wrap ups! I also decided it’s time to read Wicked, it’s not what I expected from knowing and loving the musical but I’ve been really enjoying it so far!
Thank you, Jaysen. Adding most of them to my wantlist for christmas. Look forward to reading Shadow Glass as loved never ending story, dark crystal, and the rest. Have been revisiting those books and movies with my son.
Totally agree with you on Dreadful. I was really into the first 100 pages and then poof, I didn’t understand why I was continuing to read. I ended up dnfing around 200 pages.
I’m definitely adding Shadow Glass to my TBR. It sounds like a nostalgia fest, and I’m so here for it! I read Dungeon Crawler Carl books 1 and 2, and it is now my current obsession.
I was all ready to read House of Frank this month with you but my mother just passed and I don't think I can handle to content right now. But I will one day. I knew I just had to have the book tho to show my support. I agree with you about Dreadful. It was a fun read but it would of been better if it was shorter. I read it with you on Fable. I read Belladonna, the pumpkin spice cafe, assistant to the villain , your letter GN and an E arc of legend of the white snake. it was a great reading month
I heard The Dark Interval: Letters on Loss, Grief, and Transformation by Rilke is good to process emotions during grieving but Idk if this is something you are looking for, hope you are doing well
I'm about to finish Impossible Creatures. I decided to watch this video before finishing it. 😂 I read the Beholder! The creepy book with the mirrors and the spider. I still don't know how i feel about it. But it was good and I'm glad you talked about it and reminded me that it's on my bookshelf. I also put The Brightness Between Us on my TBR for November. I don't know if I'm ready to read it yet.
"Dreadful" sounds like the opposite of "How to Become the Dark Lord and Die Trying" by Django Wexler. I will have to add it to my TBR, maybe after I finish the Dark Lord.
10 books in one month? You are a machine! Any tips on increasing reading speed? I mean words per minute. I do not have the intellectual furniture needed for actual speed reading.
I just started Impossible Creatures not knowing it's middle grade so had mixed feelings about it. Thank you for this review, I am now very excited to keep going! And I added other great reads on my list, which is way way way too long!
Shadow Glass, Kwame Crashes the Underworld, and Strange Beasts sounds like a really fun time! I just got done reading In Every Generation by Kendare Blake, and it was a really fun time, and now I'm reading A Fire in the Sky and i'm oddly enjoying it
I am currently in the middle of throw of glass and inferno heir sounds a lot like it. Also if you havent already read it the shatter me sheries is really go its a ya fanticy but some charecter have powers and each book gets better as you read on
Ok, I need to do my own project shelf control so I have room for new books. These special editions with edge artwork are just unfair. How can they do that to me? As if books aren't desirable enough!
I'm not sure if you've ever heard of it, but Impossible Creatures sounds really similar to Here There Be Dragons (the chronicles of the imagonaroum geographica)... Which is a YA/middle grade series I read 10 ish years ago. Anyway, it puts all the stories of the world in an archipelago, as well.... But perhaps it focuses on famous literature more while Impossible Creatures focuses on the creatures more?
I have read and really enjoyed the house of Frank and would love to get the hardback special edition when is it going to be available to purchase in the uk?
I dont know if youve read them uet but speaking of middle grade books, I spent the last week of October reading the small spaces koala by katherine arden. Its middle grade horror and they are so creepy. I love middle grade horror because they arent bogged down by violence or unnecessary violence towards women, its very much 90% atmospheric horror
My TBR list keeps getting longer with each of your wrap ups 🤣 By the way, didn't you say that you would talk about "the will of the many" this time because you hadn't finished it yet last time ? I'm really interested in what you think about it 😁
Some of these books look fun ^_^ Slightly concerned over you liking the tv show the haunting of hill house as it comepletely missed the point of the book.... ^_^'
Since you liked Kwame crashes the underworld maybe look into Tristan strong punches a hole in the sky, Ballad & Dagger, and Children of blood and bone. The first two deal with similar concepts and the last one has a lot of mythology in it. 26:03
Also Akata Witch by Nnedi Okorafor. (Tristan Strong is by Kwame Mbalia, Ballad & Dagger is by Daniel José Older, and Children of Blood and Bone is by Toni Adeyemi)
I would love to see a video where you list movies based on books where the movie was better! I am in the "loathing, unadulterated loathing" side of the Wicked opinion, however, it's not because it's dark or political; I just felt like the writing style was so convoluted and the characters are so despicable that there wasn't goodness in the book. I DNFed it 6 times since the book released and literally in every format, I tried so hard, but I just couldn't get past my dislike.

I never hear anyone talk about Shadow Glass, and I also loved it! Great to hear you liked it.
Great fun listening to your wrap up. 😸
Thanks for listening!

Loved Wicked and all the other books in the series. Already pre ordered Elphie.
Loving the cover art 😍 7:58
Listening to your monthly wrap ups are so calming to me so thank you for sharing!!

Thank you - I now I have a new list of books to add to my long list of books I need!
Shadow Glass sounds wonderful - I need that one first!
I just got And The Sky Bled in my Caffeine and Legends box yesterday! Can't wait to read it!
I cant believe 2024 is going to end in 2 months...

If you haven’t read it yet. The Broken Earth trilogy seems for you. Morally Grey FMC, and environmental fantasy
Just place The Shadow Glass on hold I’m excited to read it. ❤🎉

Can we have an update on the lighting situation? What happened? 😂
And now you went and made me buy so many books... Le tragic sigh! 😊
I am reading Almond by Sohn Won-Pyung right now and it's amazing!
I have Infernos Heir, just haven't gotten a chance to read it yet lol my TBR list is kinda of long lol can't wait to read it

Great Wrap Up!

Could you please share the code for the discount on the hardcover edition of House of Frank?
Heya! Sorry about that, I just added the site and coupon code to the description of this video!
