In terms of horror, I loved My Best Friends Exorcism! Book Lovers is on my favorites list for romance! I read it because of you. 10 Minutes is on my mental TBR. My Brilliant Friend is an all-time favorite as well. ❤ Great video!!
I was glad to see that you recommended Flowers for Algernon. I hardly ever hear anyone mention that book and it is easily one of the most impactful books I’ve read in my lifetime.
Dear Emily, thank you so much for My brilliant friend series. A just can’t get enough, I gifted it to all my friends, even my therapist lol! A recommended it to everyone I know and everybody loved it. All thanks to you
Emily, THANK YOU for recommending "I who have never known men"! I just finished it and was crying in the end, especially because it was over. What a unique journey. I read it with my boyfriend and it sparked many long talks about the essentials of life and what makes it worthy. SO many brilliant quotes in there, such impressive descriptions of the place and the internal process as a woman without any societal influences from the outside. I will never forget this book and understand now why you repeatedly read it.
I credit you for helping me grow my personal library by the hundreds! Hahaha! I kinda of had a summer reading list and now it has changed/grown. You videos are so much fun!

I don't hear many people say they read much less enjoyed The Tennant of Wildfell Hall. It's one of my super beloved favorites! Anne Bronte is definitely underrated compared to her sisters.
I actually taught Flowers for Algernon to my adult advanced ESL class, and they loved it. It initially started out as a short story which you can find for free online in pdf form. That is usually the one taught in schools because it still hits the more moving topics but leaves out the more adult scenes they added in the novel. Regardless, it is fantastic, and I am glad you liked it too!
I absolutely adore your channel and love how you highlight books that aren't as popular and I've gotten great recommendations from you (i.e The Neopolitan Quartet).
I miss your makeup videos BUT I have recently been reading more lately and I'm obsessed with your booktube channel. Btw your English is amazing!! I would have thought it was your first language ❤
I have finally added I Who Have Never Known Men to my pile of possibilities. It will probably be August when I get to it because July will be full of vacationing. I feel like you’ve been hyping up that book for forever.
@@cecilie... I’ve been following you on Goodreads for years now and we have very similar tastes. You HAVE to read “the curious incident of the dog in the night time”. It’s unique and suspenseful and has one of the best/most unique endings I’ve ever read. Love watching your channel! ❤
I absolutely adore Curious Incident.. and haven’t find too many people who’ve come across it. I’ve gifted it to so many friends, sigh what a wonderful book
I think my favourite thing about I Who Have Never Known Men is that how you interpret it could radically change depending on how your life and such is going when you read it, making it infinitely rereadable. When I first read it I had such great, complicated feelings about it: a sense of freedom, acceptance, positivity, and definitely a bleak beauty when you find yourself in a strange and unsettling situation. Perhaps the next time I read it, I will find it dark, harshly emotional, filled with loss. I have no idea, and that's absolutely amazing to me. Also, Piranesi has become my favourite book of all time and I'd swear it changed something in my brain. I'm reading it again right now and it just inspires me; it's such an odd little book that's hard to categorise, and I adore how it slips free from many of the constraints of genre to exist on its own. 💚

I Who Have Never Known Men was good… I think? One of those that is just heavy even after you finish it. I think I really loved it but might have to read it again now that I know how it ends since I read it so fast to find out.
Pirenesi is one of those books I really don't get why everyone gives it 5 starts. It felt like such a basic mystery... And the pilot twist wasnt even that impressive 😂in my opinion :D
Men Who Hate Women is such an important book, we read it for my feminist book club and it was super tough but it’s one of the non fiction books that has changed the most the way we see the world
@@Katie1812. you should create one! 😊 we were just 4 at first and now we’re around 50 people in our WhatsApp group and around 8-15 at each book club. We put the intersectional aspect of feminism first because we didn’t want to do the mistake of going white feminist which is often the case for feminist book clubs
@@Katie1812. and our community is also about helping each other out, we took people in who needed to leave a violent partner, are doing book sales for Palestine, help each other move etc :)
@@Katie1812. now we have 1 non fiction and 1 fiction meeting each month (not everyone comes of course), here are a few picks: • hood feminism • revolutionary mothering • men who hate women • the bass rock • honey butter pig bread • none of the above (amazing) • family abolition • girlhood by Melissa broder • what about men? • chouette • against the loveless world (wow) • feminist city • concerning my daughter • teaching to transgress We’re trying to focus on books that have less hype but are very diverse. We choose a theme each month and try to find a non fiction and fiction that fits (ex: masculinity crisis, white feminism issue, gentrification, healthcare)
my problem with "Blood over bright haven" is that I figured out the plot twist in the second or third chapter, so the revelation really didn't hit for me. the best part was the first chapter, if I read that as a short story I would have given it 5 stars
I didn’t love I Who Have Never Known Men 🙈 It was super interesting for the first half and then got repetitive and boring for me. I’m sorry…I know you’re judging me 😂
You're like an edible arrangement. Refreshingly delicious, probably. Have you read Ishmael? Story of B? How about My Ishmael? I cried, and I look like Mel Gibson's buddy in Braveheart. Our dominion.. We must lose our illusion of dominion.
Out of the 13 books you recommend I've read 5, and out of those 5 I dnf'd 3 (Razorblade Tears, Kindred, I who have never known men), gave Sour Candy 2 stars and Flowers for Algernon 4. Now I'm really concerned about Piranesi... 😅

@@Katie1812. now we have 1 non fiction and 1 fiction meeting each month (not everyone comes of course), here are a few picks:
• hood feminism
• revolutionary mothering
• men who hate women
• the bass rock
• honey butter pig bread
• none of the above (amazing)
• family abolition
• girlhood by Melissa broder
• what about men?
• chouette
• against the loveless world (wow)
• feminist city
• concerning my daughter
• teaching to transgress
We’re trying to focus on books that have less hype but are very diverse. We choose a theme each month and try to find a non fiction and fiction that fits (ex: masculinity crisis, white feminism issue, gentrification, healthcare)
@@romalibra_books wow that’s awesome! Sounds like a great group that really cares about one another! Thanks for the recs and replies!!
did i just preorder Blood over bright haven cause Emily cannot stop recommending it? yes.
will i regret it? stay tuned hahah 😂
Tennant of wildfell hall great choice
Hi Em, what's on your lips? Love your video btw
my problem with "Blood over bright haven" is that I figured out the plot twist in the second or third chapter, so the revelation really didn't hit for me. the best part was the first chapter, if I read that as a short story I would have given it 5 stars
I didn’t love I Who Have Never Known Men 🙈 It was super interesting for the first half and then got repetitive and boring for me. I’m sorry…I know you’re judging me 😂
I was basically blind for maybe 2 days and I listen to audio books. I’m not going to again UA-cam lol. Stop recommending me book channels lol
What is your native language?
French
Wow 19 minutes ago I'm early
You're like an edible arrangement. Refreshingly delicious, probably. Have you read Ishmael? Story of B? How about My Ishmael? I cried, and I look like Mel Gibson's buddy in Braveheart. Our dominion.. We must lose our illusion of dominion.
Emily IS so cute
yeeeeeeeessss
Wait, wait, wait... what about "English is not my first language "???
Nope, French is!
@@BookswithEmilyFox I supposed that after "stalk" a little bit your social media accounts, you're from Canada.
Out of the 13 books you recommend I've read 5, and out of those 5 I dnf'd 3 (Razorblade Tears, Kindred, I who have never known men), gave Sour Candy 2 stars and Flowers for Algernon 4. Now I'm really concerned about Piranesi... 😅
Pretty woman
Does this mean that you have almost read the amount that is considered a library? 😮
If we count the books I didn’t finish I’ve definitely hit that number! We’ll see if I can get to owning a library of books I’ve read and enjoyed!
Day 100 of recommending Tainted Cup to Emily because it has SciFi and an older woman as main character.
Bestie I have some news for you… ❤️
@@BookswithEmilyFox Stooop i will cry if you read it. 😭
made a note of the books recommended , 🫰🏻my semester break is set now to read these ❤
