Ovi with his third hattie in 6 games for those 14 goals in 7... but if you remove the three hatties, he still has 5 goals in 7 games, which is a 57 goal pace. Hard to find words for the man, who at 34 is still the best goal scorer in hockey. Or as I saw someone type...

Anyway...My Family calls the Olympics my 2nd Christmas during the years they take place in. 😁. Although I’m *not* looking forward to that time zone difference for Tokyo this Summer. So....Just wondering if I saw during the coverage of her Olympics, I might have seen Ovie’s Mom win her Gold Medal. 😊

Backy signed for 5 more years. Ovi will be in the league for the same amount of time no question and both will retire from the NHL on the CAPS. Based on that length he should pass Gretzky by about halfway through his last year. That is if he doesn't get hurt or he could do it sooner if he keeps up this breath taking pace of scoring.

was just mentioning the hatrick in the penultimate game a few years back. I had him in my pool and was hoping he'd get 50. He nonchalantly gets it and then takes the final game off. He's always scoring at will and he can pot multiple at once or in a few games and no one can stop him. GOAT by a country mile in scoring goals.

Now that we're below 200 I am really asking myself if he'll do it. I mean I remember goal 600 like it was 2 years ago (because it was). From March of 2018 to whenever he scores 700 which i guess is tomorrow, he'll have scored 100 goals in less than 2 calendar years. You have to think there's hardly any way he doesn't get close by the time his and Backstrom's next contracts are up, and if he's within 50 goals of Gretz, surely he's going to stick around don't you think? Just to get it. I mean it's still unlikely, but at this point I'd give him a good, fighting 20% chance at it. And man I know for most things 20% doesn't sound high, but I mean, if I told you 12 years ago someone's going to have a 20% chance to knock Gretzky off the goal scoring list you'd be ecstatic, unless you're Wayne Gretzky reading this I guess

Ovi has a pretty good chance at catching The Great One if he plays like he has for his career. If he plays just 6 more seasons and gets 40+ goals each time he might even get to 900
He will need more than 5 seasons to beat Greatzky Ovie needs 8 more seasons to beat the record

@@colton4758 he's not going to score 50 goals next year & especially in 2 to 3 years he will be 37 in 3 years I think he will diminish a bit next year & score 36 to 40 goals next year & in the next 2--3 years he might score 65 to 70 goals in 2 seasons so he will need to play at least 7 to 8 more seasons to break the Record but he will do it😃👍

Think you missed an opportunity to put stephen johns goal on Monday against the Rangers. 22 months of not being able to play hockey b/c of post-traumatic headaches. There was lots of talk that he would never play again after they started happening, but he worked and got better to make it back on the NHL roster for the stars (after 4 points in his first AHL game) and scored a bomb from the blue line at a critical point to give dallas a 3-2 lead.

The most boss hatty was against Montreal when he broke his nose and got stitched up and came back to score 4 goals and 5 points

ovi may go 10 games with no goals. but then he gets 3 hat tricks in 7 games totaling 14 goals in those 7 games. he doesnt slow down. he just has rest time between goals lol. mathews pots them in 1/2 at a time regularly but ovi does 2/3 often

You would think someone would just follow him around and tie his stick up. You can’t on the Pk because they have a lot of legitimate weapons.

I'm from Russia. And i very proud for my countryman! I really hope that Ovi will break Gretzky record someday. But let's be hornest. Gretzky is the idol of hockey. I don't think that it's fair talk about "different era". I think if Gretzky would play today he would still be the best total in points. May be not 200 pts/season but defenately on the top. We'll never know if he would score more than Ovi nowdays)) For me Gretzky is the greatest player in his era and one of the greatest of alltime and Ovi is the greatest goal scorer nowdays and one of the greatest of alltime))
