I think a big miss in this video is not including Mikko Rantanen's hat trick in his home country, including the crowd chanting his name at the end of the game!

@@chr0nicbacon719 that was a nice pass for sure, but I'd rank scoring 2 goals to take the lead in the last 3 mins of a game, and that goal against calgary was an amazing display of puck movement from the whole team, I think you got some western bias lol, but I will say Rantanens hatty should've been in this video
What about Mikko Rantanen scoring a Hatty in his native Finland? That surely deserves a Hat Pick.
Peter McNab's entire career, from his college days at DU to his underrated pro days, mostly in Boston, to his 27 years of color commentary for the Avs (which is their entire history)... That's a hat pick!
Losing one of the truly good people in hockey to cancer... That's a dang it. 😢

Tbh, as a Caps fan, I just want Ovi to keep scoring. Playoffs would be great but I want to see him do it. He should get 800 this year.
I think he will for sure pass Howe this year… 40 this season, then 30 year after, and in his last two seasons he will score at least 20 and pass 99

Caps won the Cup in 2018, and usually qualify for playoffs. What did haters win in the last 10 seasons? ;-)
As a Canes fan, the Aho shootout goal is made even crazier by the fact that he hadn't made a single shootout goal since 2017! Watching that game live I thought it was pretty much over right up until the puck went in!
The Tavares move was just like when Datsyuk broke Logan Couture's ankles on Logan's birthday way back haha. One of my favorite highlights.
I was born in 2000. My dad took me to see my first caps game in 2005. I’ve had the privilege of witnessing greatness for my entire life. Congrats Ovi, the gr8est.
I was born in 72 and had the privilege of seeing all of Gretzky, Lemieux, Hasek and my favourite of them all, Ovechkin.
I like how on the last one where the Devils scored against the Flames you didn’t even mention Jack Hughes’ no look between the legs pass to Bastian from behind the net.
Hischier's assist against the Flames should be on here too. Nice to see my boys finally getting some love, tho.
One thing I noticed in the Jesper Bratt goal that makes it kinda even more impressive, is that NOBODY realized what was going on until he was already at the faceoff circle. Even Hischier looks confused at the middle of the rink for a second and seems to go "Oh sh!t! There's a play happening here!!"
Ovi turned the clock back like 8 years for that game against Edmonton.

@@kobesbuzzerbeater yeah I mean we hear alot about McDavid beating team records but that's only because he plays for the team with the guy who set like 90% of the records in the NHL overall.

as an oiler fan, my soul left my body many times watching this especially at 8:01. Mcdavid makes it look so easy that it feels like he can score at will, but he doesn't cause hes too nice

What, no Rantanen hat-trick?
There are a lot of discussions I've seen about who the greatest althete of all time is, and I think the point that Steve brings up at 3:47 really drives home just how insane Gretzky was, and how he is in my mind, without doubt, thr GOAT.
One of the craziest stats in any sport is that the first and second fastest 1000 points in a career in the NHL are both Gretzky, whose second 1000 points are second fastest to his first 1000 points.
@@Falllll another crazy stat line is you can take away all of Gretzkys goals and he’d still be number 1 all time points leader.
@@chrisdirker8715 to go along with that, there are 13 seasons all time where a player had 100+ assists, Bobby Orr has 1, Mario Lemieux has 1, Gretzky has the other 11!
And to go with that, if he never scored a goal, he would still have the most 100 point seasons of all time, since the player with the 2nd most 100 point seasons has 10 of them.
Overall he has 15 100 point seasons, so 50% more than 2nd place, just nuts

I thought Hampus Lindholm's 4 points in one game including the ot winner against the pens would be in here. Especially since the bruins won that game after trailing 5-2

@@levibelrose2914 yes he has multiple point games but the big deal is that Hampus is a defenseman and if I'm remembering correctly last season steve had another bruins defenseman on hat picks for 4 points in a game. Not to mention that the ot winner was a great goal
I even think Pastrnak's crazy backhander goal against the Rangers not being here is another miss, he was legit parallel to net from like 20 something feet away and backhanded it to top corner of net in a space literally just big enough for a puck

Feel like this went unnoticed but in Ovichkin's record breaking goal, the broadcast graphics had a dang it. Claimed right after the goal that the Coyotes' Maccelli got his 787th career goal, passing Gordie Howe for most goals with one franchise. You can see it at 4:49. Really silly mistake that doesn't hurt anybody, but the graphics person was probably really embarrassed!
I remember when Ovechkin made it to within 5 of Brett Hull, the broadcast accidentally showed Nick Jensen as being 5 away from tying Brett Hull.

The goal by Tavares was like wow, and he did take his lunch money. Sad day losing Peter McNab. I enjoyed his commentary for over 20 years because he let people know when someone, even if he was on the other team, made a great play. He was a great guy in person also. Going to be missed.

I love how we finnsh booed everytime the players did slow breakout stopping for 3 seconds behind the goal, and reporters thought we have so fast pace hockey that we dont like slow starts in finland. When the truth is the opposite we get to see slow starts all the time and when we got chance to see fast nhl hockey we expect that. So finnish 😂
