I wish I could show the first one to my grandmother. She always peddled this myth about joint popping, and then concluded with "you can look it up" To which I always responded: "I have and that's why I don't agree with you." She didn't like that response, to say the least.
I’ve never heard that it causes arthritis, but my orthopedic surgeon advised against cracking my neck. A man once cracked his neck whilst driving and broke his neck and died. That’s an extreme case obviously. Idk if he had bunions or not; nor do i know if his name was barry, bart, or if he bet bees between bowling
This is so cool, Dana! You should do more of these! In my country podiatrists are paramedics, so if you need anything like special shoes (K width for instance, like I do) aka "comfort shoes" as they're called in Belgium, then you do need to see an orthopedic surgeon (foot specialty), who will prescribe said shoe and even insoles if you need them made especially. Comfort shoes, K width, is only paid for by health insurance if you have diabetes. I have CRPS, complex regional pain syndrome and it's "not on the list" of conditions that can have it all re-imbursed. Lucky me eh? I developed, due to my condition, flat feet in my old age (52) and entrapment of my "big right toe nerve" due to "walking funny". We have general health care in this country, but so much of it is still "extra" and you end up needing to pay for a lot yourself if you need it, especially if you have a rare condition like I do. I missed the boat on so much already! But OTOH, you do not lose your house and entire belongings if you have a disability. I have to say that much for it!
My goodness; I actually found out today, this morning, picking up my new shoes that they are M width; they had a smaller width with them, but my foot didn't fit! My gosh, that kind of shocked me! Happy with the M's though, they are suuuuper comfortable!
Quick note about popping your joints!!! If it doesn’t pop as easily as normal, don’t pop it!! That could damage your joints or injure you. I recently popped a toe wrong because I tried popping it too roughly and it got swollen and appeared sprained, and externally, it looked broken. Just be careful and pop away as she said!!!
How would bunions able to be formed without something pushing on the bone to deform it? Also, it’s impossible to tell if bunions are genetic if the child is wearing cramped toe box shoes as well as the parents because then it’ll SEEM genetic but is actually just a false correlation. The only way to truly see if bunions are genetic is if the parent already has bunions while having worn crampy shoes, but their child is raised barefoot/with a foot shaped toe box. Also, there have been MANY cases of people reversing bunions with minimalist shoes. I, for one, was starting to form bunions before I switch over (Sorry if my wording is bad I woke up 10 minutes ago)
I've been following you since before or about the start of the pandemic. Love your videos❤. Also, it'd be nice if you'd review marathon leg damages or F1 and 24 hours at le mans race medical harm. Looking forward to it!
the cream for athletes foot that was on screen is called Canesten where I live! there's really only 3 different active ingredients used in anti fungal cream. Klotrimazol, Mikonazol, and Terbinafin; at least where I live
Dana, can you talk about hand-foot syndrome? Have you ever encountered it? Because several different cancer medications have caused it in me and several of my doctors were just unaware of it in general. My oncologist and dermatologist were the only ones who had had to deal with it before
Thank you. I got issues with ingrown nails. Periodically I get brittle nails that break too close to the edge causing the rounded edge. Gotta lift the corners as they grow out till they heal.
Doctor, at 1:54, you mentioned, ' we should stop shaming women from wear high heels.' I agree with you, to an extent. While yes, women prefer to wear high heels, because it makes them feel feminine. Society doesn't shame women of wearing high heels due of this. Women are shamed for this because, of the health effects, and women shame themselves for it. For one, it is uncomfortable. My wife, who is the Marines, wore white heels, authorised for uniform wear, and she lost all benefit from this, and she found no comfort in them. Plus, in certain areas, around the globe, small straight cracks are observed in cobblestone, which can cause tripping.
If anything, it’s more important to not shame women for wearing practical footwear. Heels are still required in many workplaces, and women will face social consequences for not wearing them to group events like weddings. Many women feel shame for wearing “ugly” orthopedic shoes that that need, and will choose pain over social shame. Same for women who wear heels to dance clubs and inevitably get so painful they must take them off, exposing their damaged skin to who knows what on the ground
The only shame I ever got was from men who were upset that I was taller than they were and wanted to blame it on my shoes. More often than not I was taller than them without the shoes. Doesn’t make them less of a man, so the only reasoning is they are jerks.
Let me rephrase my comment, I’ve personally never heard that feet soaking is a body detox but rather used to soften up callouses making the callouses easier to knock down giving nice soft feet not to mention preventing them from experiencing the wound issue you mentioned now correct me if I’m wrong but couldn’t that lead to an infection if not treated or taken care of as I feel like it would especially if it can’t heal properly which can cause more issues, again correct me if I’m wrong.
I have kidney/electrolyte issues, and took myself to get a pedicure. They used one of those “detox” packets - I ended up with THE WORST shin splint cramps, that evening. I’m a (former/disabled) cosmetologist - and had NEVER had that kind of experience, post-pedicure. In all fairness, I didn’t drink that much water, that day, so, I was dehydrated, also. It reminds me of cramping I get, after eating Chipotle. I have no clue what’s in those packets, though, I am better, perhaps, Epsom salt? I have already planned on doing an Epsom salt soak, today, as have some severe ankle edema from the Baclofen medication I’ve been put on (that I shouldn’t have been, as it can cause issues in those with, well, renal issues, from what I read).
Very informative! I can vouch for the hereditary factor of bunions l. I have one small baby bunion on my left big toe. My mother and two of my sisters have extreme bunions on both feet. All of them have been ballet dancers. We have a cousin who has been a principle ballerina who has bunions, but her feet are much shorter, size 6 - 6 1/2. In order of size is sister #5 with feet size 8 -8/5; mother size 9 to 10; and youngest sister is 10/5 to 11/5. We have some height, long fingers and toes on my mother’s side. My father 5’ 11” tall. My mother 5’7” 1/5” tall. 😊🥰❤️😁
bruh this video is so informative. These type of videos should get more views but instead Girls twerking on tiktok gets millions Thank u so much Doctor for this video
THANK YOU i have a bunion on my left foot n ive had it since i was literally a little kid. Its pretty severe, always makes me self conscious of wearing sandals 😅😅 but my foot doctor told me if i got it corrected, it would grow that way again. Is that true??? Because i want it gone, im 26 im too young its so embarassing
I work in a butcher shop and I had seen this video a while ago but scrolled before she said it was fake because I thought the shirt was done so now I see the video again after a bit and my stupid ass had been paranoid that I would give someone some parasites
how do you get rid of toenail fungus? my grandpa has been through multiple products and has only seen minimal improvement. Not sure if it’s the product or something more serious but he used some oils and creams
I have a problem in my feet where most normal shoes give me a ton of pain I have gone to 12 different doctors but they couldn't figure it out the last one recommended Hoka's and that worked so I don't know
Earlier I stubbed my toe on the three stair going up to my bed. It didn’t hurt that much so I shrugged it off, however ,A few minutes ago I pulled off my sock and half of my toenail is cracked and I could literally just rip it off❤
Funny thing is I visited a podiatrist for an ingrown nail and they gave it three tries and couldn’t fix it. I let it grow out and then I cut it round. My mistake was the cutting.
This might be too late but I have a question. I’m a mma fighter and when ever I’m training more specially sparing sometimes my nail bends all the way back and then it goes black for like 4 hours and then back to normal. How ever this time it didn’t do that and my nail just stayed bent so I cut it off and now I have an ingrown nail what do I do?
I bought some nice shoes that are just the right size. But apparently my feet sometimes swell cuz somedays they fit just fine, then others my right foot hurts a ton.
I remember in 1st grade i was being chased by this to weird kid and it was wear a dress day at school and i was wearing these type of leggings for dresses and and there was a curve and i tripped and fell and the two kids pushed me to the floor and i was bleeding on my leg and i told them to stop and they said whatever and i wasnt little it was huge so i went to the office and they told me to rinse with water and they gave me a huge bandaid and i was 6-7 and obviously i was crying i told on them and they were suspended for pushing to the ground i wont forget u caleb and coby😂😂
