I use passive Alesis Monitor One MK2 with Amcron D150A, I'm very happy with that combination, excellent, and I alternate with Yamaha NS-10M Studio, great video!
I've been using the powered mk2 versions for nearly 20 years now. One pair blew out at a party when i was 21 or so, the second have lasted me nearly 16 years.
Great video! I still mix on a set of original Alesis Monitor One speakers. I still like them. The one downside is that they're rear ported and I don't have much distance between them and a wall, so it's easy for the bass to get out of hand at higher volumes, which I try to avoid. I've been debating getting a new set of powered monitors that are front ported to get rid of the issue, but I'd still keep the Monitor One speakers for reference.
Most accurate monitors I had ever. Mixes made on them are the best. I added to them sub SBX10 and this team is perfect. Its a pity that Alesis do not produce Monitor One Mk2 already.
*Sound Demo starts at 7:45. A cornerstone in my studio monitor array, the Alesis Monitor One Mk2s are the real deal. While no longer in production, these accurate sonic powerhouses still deliver plenty of bang for the buck. I wanted to share this information with anyone who is looking for great passive traditional reference monitors that won’t break the bank.
Since it's not in the manual or on the Alesis support website, I would suggest contacting Alesis support directly. If they are willing to share it, you should be good to go. Thanks for watching.
hello, i own a pair of alesis point seven monitors and trying to find the right cable for it. Can you please direct me to where to buy the right cable. Is going mono in to a studio amp.
You know that the Point Sevens used the same cable as the Monitor One. From my understanding of what you are asking for, you are looking for 2 speaker wire "Y" cables (1 for each speaker) with 2 bare ends and 1 either 1/4" or 1/8" mono phone plug on the other end. I would suggest eBay first. Also try Monoprice.com (good selection and prices) and Sweetwater.com. Thanks for watching. 👍🏿
Very nice and helpful review! Thank you! I have Alesis M1 active mk2 monitors, but problems with power supply - not working, even after revovation. Would you recomend switch to Monitor One (passive) version, or maybe make them passive (my M1 active)?
It’s hard to go wrong with the Monitor Ones, they have a history of accuracy and reliability. Again, I recommend using several different types of monitors if it is within budget to cover the most ground. I don’t recommend making active monitors passive and using them for your mix downs. This is because active monitors were not engineered to be and or tested as passive, so you should not get the results you expect because you changed their specifications. Others may disagree, but this is my recommendation. Thanks for watching and sharing.
I just got myself a pair but I don’t know how to connect them to my Audient iD14 audio interface that uses the TRS cable for my monitor L and R outs. What else will I need for connecting these into my audio interface? Sorry it was my first time buying studio monitors and I thought I could have used a speaker XLR to TRS cable but it has the red and black positive negative wire connection. How would I connect my monitors to my audio interface??? Sorry I’m new to studio monitors since before I would just use openback headphones... Please help!! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
The Alesis MK2s are Passive monitors, meaning they need an amplifier to power them. Most studio monitors today are Active monitors meaning they have a amp built-into them already. In order to use your MK2s, you will need an external power amplifier to connect them to first. Then you will connect that power amplifier to the audio outputs of your Audio Interface. An amplifier with a 150 watt power rating into 4 ohms is recommended by Alesis. I use the Alesis RA-300 Reference Amplifier in my studio. Higher or lower power amplifiers may be used, depending on the size of the listening room and your preference for your normal working levels. I hope this information helps.
@@PowercoatMusic Thank you so much! So I'd be connecting those input ports with an amplifier and then connecting my amplifier into my interface. I'm assuming it would be connected with a banana plug and speaker wire and then an XLR to TRS in that order from speaker->amplifier->interface right? Sorry just wanted to make sure I understood everything correctly!
@@ZakinR That’s basically it. Speaker wire->Power Amplifier->Audio Interface. Use whatever cable is required from the Power Amplifier to the Audio Interface. 👍🏿
Just found your video , I still have the Active one and it sound great to my need , later on my friends gave me the passive one. What power amp for this babe would you recommended? Thanks
I've used the Alesis RA-100 for years with these monitors with no issues. There's a lot of good choices on the market currently. If/when my Alesis dies, I would mostly likely go with the Crown XLi 1500 450W. Thanks for watching. 👍🏿
I don’t have the access to the 3s so I can’t compare. However, if they are an upgrade from the 2s, then they should sound great. If anyone has the 3s, please chime in. Thanks for watching.
Check the wire connection to ensure there's nothing broken there. You may also have a bad channel on your amp or mixer. You may want to check that with other speakers to be sure.
I don't have JBLs monitors in my studio. JBLs are fine monitors and having them would be nice as I have always loved their bottom end, but I don't require them. However, when I rate gear it's based on what works well for my needs. I've learned the hard way that my requirements are not always that of others, which is why it's important to know what you need as an individual in your studio setup first. Thanks for watching and sharing. It's appreciated. 👍🏿
I am looking at some used ones with dented center cones on the woofers and some small dents on one of the tweeter cones. Does this mean they would not work properly?
I generally would'nt buy peakers with damaged cones myself. However depending on the amount and type of damage to the cone, it might not affect the speakers performance, but it may say something about how they were treated. Thanks for watching. 👍🏿
Dented tweeters are repaired with a sucktion cup in a second. SAME with the main speaker dome cones, but via vacuum cleaner. Just use lowest setting + be gentle! 😂
Yes. There is some truth here because of both the electrical design and materials. Check out my video “Mackie CR3 vs M-Audio AV42: Which is Best?” on this channel. It should give you an idea of how these 2 sets of active monitors compare against each other. Thanks for watching and sharing.
I've been using these monitors along with the Alesis RA150 amp for the past 20 years in my home studio.

I agree. Alesis scored a major goal with the Mk2s. They are an asset to virtually any home studio. Thanks for watching and wishing you the very best.
Yeah...this is suicide of business...not continuing to produce these...really bad idea

Ive got 2 M1 ACTIVE MK2s and loving them...
What's not to love, right? Thanks for watching. 👍🏿
what crazy effect is on that lead guitar? Sounds like it re-synthesizing intervals or something..
Im still got them and love just need know about the -2/3db on low frequency and rest of the parameters is perfect for home production

Yes, the MK2 is just a improvement on otherwise very good monitors. Thanks for watching. 👍🏿
Anye today's model that can compare with?
Is this studio monitor can hook up to Yamaha 8 omhs avr system and watch movies?
They’re 4ohm speakers, so you risk blowing up the speakers if the amp clips.
this or Adam A7X?
