I have to say, this was the best recipe/technique I found, I've never made this and was put off by the fact that i need a heavy cast iron pan and put it in the oven first to heat, then take it out, be careful with the super hot cast iron pan pour the mixture then back to the oven, it was too much for a pancake...but this is doable, thank you so much.
I'll eat this over pancakes anytime, the first time I made these bad boys I was hooked, the powdered sugar, butter and lemon juice ,and pure maple syrup it doesn't need anything else but yes fruits go well with it too ,yummy. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👌👌👌👌👌👌🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗😉
My 10-year old has been asking about Dutch babies after watching a Bon’s Burgers Christmas episode - I can’t wait to surprise him with one! Thanks for another great video Thomas. 👏🏼😆🥳
When making Yorkshire puddings, I put the pan in the oven while it’s being pre-heated with some oil, fat, or butter and take it out when the oven is ready to pour in the batter, before it goes back in. That way I’m using the oven while I’m pre-heating it and I don’t need to worry about stove top to oven cookware. I think most people in the UK do this.
You inspired me!! I’ve made it twice so far (even using different pans) and it has been successful each time!! Simple easy-to-follow steps. #thank you 🙏🏻 #winner #delicious #impressive
This recipe actually works! I tried a different recipe from a different channel and it was a disappointment; this one looks actually pretty simple but the results are perfect!
As I have learned, from watching other cooking videos and one cook/chef saying so, you should crack your eggs into a separate bowl just in case the egg/eggs is/are not fresh/spoiled/doesn't look great, whatever you might want to call it. Once it's added to another ingredient, if it's not right, you'd have to throw everything in that bowl out and start over.
Top with pancetta or prosciutto, fluffy crisp hash browns, a little shredded cheese, and scallions. For cheese, Gruyere, or Jarlsberg. But you can also use pepper jack, mozzarella, provolone, or whatever you like. Dutch babies are so versatile, quick and delicious. Easy to mix all the ingredients, except toppings, in your blender for a meal in no time.
Would it be possible to do it in a higher iron roaster? Or will I have troubles to get it out of the roaster or dutch oven? If it is possible, should I do butter on the sides too? Could you please help me and answer this question. I think I am maybe not the only one...THANK YOU!
I wonder how well this (easier than pancakes it seems) recipe works with non-gluten flour (almond, coconut, etc). I would think add a little baking powder (or maybe not) and more liquid for coconut--as always.
I have a conundrum. I have tried to make the 'impossible pie' or 'miracle pie' 4 times now. The pie is supposed to form 3 layers, it's own coconut topping, the egg based filling and a pie crust at the bottom. But I always end up with something more similar to coconut flan. What am I doing wrong?
I always get perfect results weighing the ingredients for Impossible Pie. And I use recipe from Joy of Baking UA-cam channel because provides the weight of ingredients. Her Impossible Pie never fails me.
I made it exactly as you did, and it didn't hardly rise, so I tried it a second time and heated up the pan in the oven with the butter..and then made it. Each time it was not cooked after 23 minutes, and was too gooey in the middle.. I used a stainless steel pan and it stuck a little bit in the center. All in all? Didn't work and I want it to!
A Dutch baby pancake, sometimes called a German pancake, a Bismarck, or a Dutch puff, is a large American popover. A Dutch baby pancake is similar to a large Yorkshire pudding. Compared to a typical pancake, a Dutch baby is always baked in the oven, rather than being fried on both sides on the stove top, it is generally thicker than most pancakes, and it contains no chemical leavening ingredients, such as baking powder. The idea of a Dutch baby pancake may have been derived from the German Pfannkuchen, but the current form originated in the US in the early 1900s.
Love your videos. However, please use a higher camera angle and better frame when you are showing us the closeup of the berries going into the baby. Show more glass bowl and spoon action please with less counter/pan base. Do this for ALL your videos please.
WOULD HAVE LIKED TO SEE YOU REMOVE THAT FROM THE PAN, AND CUT UP AND PLATE AND THEN ADD BERRIES. NICE TO SEE THE FINISHED PRODUCT PLATED AND READY FOR THAT SPECIAL PERSON, YOURSELF. LOL!
*Way* too much butter in the pan; the pan wasn't preheated; that pan may have its place in the kitchen but not in making a Dutch Baby pancake a deep cast iron really is the best pan. The original using powdered sugar and lemon lets you savor the simplicity of the dish without overpowering it. Serve the berries on the side if you like. The two easiest things to make for breakfast... a basic omelet and a Dutch Baby.
Glad to see you again, Thomas.
FINALLY! Thomas is back, thank goodness! Don't do this to me again 😭
This is a great recipe! My Dutch baby turned out delicious. I served it with blueberries macerated in sugar and lemon juice.
Him spooning berries and then just dumping the whole thing is such a mood 😂 GREAT AS ALWAYS
Back again already! I’ve just finished watching bunches of videos about making Dutch baby pancakes, but this one is definitely the best.!
Welcome back Thomas.
Finally! We missed you so much Thomas! I’m glad you are back!

Tom, you are so loved!!! And greatly appreciated for these conundrums!!!
Very easy and simple dutch baby creation on your part Thomas. I tried it and it worked out fine.

We love you Thomas!! 😘❤️
And it finally have English subtitles. Thank you so much...
Really surprised to see a video from Everyday food. I thought the channel was dead.
I think they’re moving offices
@@JonathanBorretti Oh well that explains it!
Everyone is dead. Dead and eating varieties of panned cakes.
oh my gosh, you have my name! or i have your name? idk, cute name tho🥺

I do the same with my Dutch babies, I've tried both ways and I haven't noticed much of a difference either way
Thank you Tom , it is very delicious.

This recipe actually works!
I tried a different recipe from a different channel and it was a disappointment; this one looks actually pretty simple but the results are perfect!
Wow, it really is simple, and so beautiful.
As you were whisking the batter, I was 'whisking' or moving my mouse, :-) Thank you, I love it, it looks so super easy.
ok i'm feeling inspired. definitely going to make one of these some morning when i have a day off!!
You rock, so glad to have found you
Cast iron skillet for the BEST dutch baby.
Use smaller skillets for individual personal toppings or multiple variations for one meal.
chesh kat I like them in muffin tins!
Definitely saving this for later!
Soooooo gonna make this!!
No rest batter!? I've never seen it before, but it puffs up impressively. I can enjoy Dutch pancake with this vid even in busy from now on♬
Could I premake the batter and use it later?
That dutch pancake is looking so delicious and I have to try making it myself. Thanks for sharing this recipe with all of us.

you're back!!!
So pretty! Thank you Joseph!
Hey Baby!!! Thank you for the video.
I wish you would have cut into it and showed what it looked like served on a plate.
Goon Cookie it looks exactly like the inside of a Yorkshire pudding
You don't cut and serve it. It's meant to be a single serving.
Today, It just happens to hit me that you guys haven't uploaded anything in a while!!! And here we go, a new video of yours just pops up on screen:)
I was thinking the same thing, seems like a couple of months maybe?
@@helpfulnatural
Yeah!! Their last upload was a month ago!!
Always good to see the item cut so the inside can becseen
Finally updated
I always heard to super mix it to create air in the batter
Yes. I'm inspired.
Any suggestions for a savory version..not Yorkshire pudding, but a breakfast type savory alternative. Tia

Panqueca holandesa bebé this is really new to me
Is Sara still part of this channel?
Do you have to use a cast iron skillet or could you also use a baking pan too?
You can use any oven-safe skillet.
And where have you been and this site??????
See when I tried to make a Dutch Baby all you could taste was the eggs, I put cinnamon and cardamom in the batter. Is it suppose to taste like that?
He is looking cuter than ever!
Hi Thomas, I do not currently own a cast iron skillet, will a regular round pie dish suffice for baking? Thanks!
Would it be possible to do it in a higher iron roaster? Or will I have troubles to get it out of the roaster or dutch oven? If it is possible, should I do butter on the sides too? Could you please help me and answer this question. I think I am maybe not the only one...THANK YOU!
What is the metal plate he uses between the pan and the induction top called?
Plz make a pizza base dough video .
Can i make it gluten free ?
Noooooooooo I use this recipe to impress my hook ups next morning, now you've made it popular I will have to come up with something else. Damn it
Hahaha
Lmaooooo this might be my favorite thing on the internet
Can the Dutch Baby be backed in Aluminum Pie Pan?
No backing powder?
OMG... you're back : )
1/2 Cup Whole Milk
2 eggs
1/3 all purpose flour
4 tbsp unsalted butter
Salt
Nutmeg
Vanilla
Okay so as a beginner oven user. How do you put something in the oven when the thing is 450 degrees hot
CC
Yummy
I don’t think you can go wrong with this recipe ! Listen, if I can make it… #anyonecan 😊😉

Perhaps show your fans how to make "Kaiserschmarr'n" (with and without raisins). Served with applesauce... just saying... 😊
Made this. Didn’t have nutmeg but added a touch of cinnamon instead. Taste like a crepe. Not bad but I still prefer waffle! 😄😄

The problem is your oven temperature. You may need an oven thermometer.
Oh I miss you
Ok so others use a blender etc but u r saying dont over beat and lumps will work there way out...ok Ill try that...
Long time no see
2:46 NOW you tell me
I just can’t with that pencil!
I hope Thomas is in bon appetit.
I've never been brave enough to try Yorkshire puddings. I've never even tasted one.
Am I the only dutch person whos never heard of this
Nee, it's probably "pennsylvania dutch" rather than dutch dutch.
Same

I hope they've improved their technique over the last 2 years
Do yourself a favour and watch at speed at least x1.75 haha
what is the difference between French toast casserole and bread pudding? That is my conundrum. Thanks.
Literally nothing. French toast casserole uses whole slices of bread. Bread pudding uses cut up bread.
FallenAngelofTime but they all use the same ingredients. I’ve seen French toast casseroles with torn up bread. What specifically differentiated them?
What did I do its like rubber..
WHERE IS SARAH‽????????
I am Dutch, never heard of it hahaha
Check out ATC version. Much better.
Just FYI if you ask a Dutch person, they don't know what this is....it is not a Dutch dish...looks interesting though...
WOULD HAVE LIKED TO SEE YOU REMOVE THAT FROM THE PAN, AND CUT UP AND PLATE AND THEN ADD BERRIES. NICE TO SEE THE FINISHED PRODUCT PLATED AND READY FOR THAT SPECIAL PERSON, YOURSELF. LOL!
Please marry me, Thomas!
That is totally not an 8 inch skillet. Eight inches on the bottom maybe, but pans are not measured by the bottom diameter.
The pencil may fall into your food !!! Please leave it.
Spoon... spoon... spoon... DUMP!

Why is a baby Dutch pancake called a Dutch pancake, since it is NOT DUTCH ???
Doesn’t look appetizing at all
Thank you
